Got this in an eBay mishap . LOL. I had my eye on this a LONG time ago and just forgot about it. There is so much going on here - yet- it works! Citrus & Vanilla & Cocoa & Lavender ? This is a very smooth ride. Never in my life has the word "UNISEX" been so apt ! I hear this is hard to get now OR got a lot more expensive . When I was originally looking in to it - I recall it was a "cheapie". GRADE: A minus. Still unsure if it's a safe blind buy though.
it's awesome.. wish I could buy a bottle of this (or HiM), but I can't find it anywhere
Truly an underrated gem. A unique yet inoffensive citrus fragrance that really progresses into something quite cosy, summery and beautiful. It's a skin scent for me but it somehow works for what it is.
So, my scent-sensitive wife bought me a bottle of this cologne close to 15 years ago as a surprise gift. I accidentally hurt her feelings then because I HATED it. I can't remember precisely why, but something about its combination notes was very offensive to me. Still, it was a gift from my wife, so I wore it a few times out of obligation before quitely stashing it in the cupboard beneath my bathroom sink. Fast forward to today, and we are several years into a different home in a different city, but that bottle of cologne still got packed and brought over in the move. I resolved that it would just be kept until either it or I faded into the ether. I've continued to be into fragrances, and love to try out new smells and figure out what things my wife tolerates versus actually loves to smell on me. Well, this morning I randomly remembered that this bottle was under the sink and that I hadn't smelled it since the last time I wore it almost 15 years ago. I crack it open, and I'm not sure if my tastes have changed or this juice has changed, or both! It is still strong, if not stronger, but not offensive at all. Rather, after bit of initial sharpness, it now opens up heavily into these powdery florals, but deepens with an amber sweetness (I'm not great at this, but I hope you get what I mean). It smells like glitzy, downtown date nights at an expensive sushi restaurant, where you laugh and make eye contact that confirms exactly what you tell are doing after one last round of craft cocktails. Excited to put this back into the rotation!
Acquired this fragrance in 2014, it was the second fragrance I ever owned. Wore it as a daily and remember it performed well with longevity and was a compliment getter. Great fragrance all year round. Just wish i could find it in stock in New Zealand as it is a core memory fragrance.
I was hoping to really love this, but it’s only okay. I get a citrus muskiness to it. I was hoping for something a bit fresher. It definitely projects. I get a spicy undertone that i can’t quite pinpoint.
Nothing beats this wonderful fragrance on my shelves, especially as hvnscnt writes below: "the quintessential spring scent." I'm wearing it now in the cool late summer, and it also performs beautifully in autumn, but the beautiful blend of florals combined with the coolness of the fragrance is pure springtime perfection. On my skin, this scent lasts for over 12 hours. Women compliment this HM Hanae Mori.
Never before have I smelled a fragance that evokes feelings of spring like HM. In my experience, when fragrances are described as a spring or autumn-type fragrance, they're usually either too weak or strong for the respective seasons, so they fall on the transitional scale between summer and winter. However, this does not apply to this fragrance at all. This is the quintessential spring fragrance. It captures the feeling of new beginnings and the optimism of the first months of a new year. It's light and elegant, but sharp and present at the same time. The citrus notes are creamy, sweet and edible and the blackcurrant note provides just enough freshness and acidity to cut through the smooth vanilla and amber. To me, it's the smell of snow smelting in the warm spring sun with not a cloud in sight skywide. The wind blows chilly, but you know the breezes will warm up soon. The days are getting longer and you feel like better days are not far off. I wish I had a thousand bottles so I could feel this way forever.
Ebay has 5mls for 11.99c This used to cost 22.00 a bottle. The company discontinued they recontinued buy only on their site for 120.00 for a 100ml and 85.00 for 50ml Use an ebay search to find this Rose 🌹 Gem
I got HM (the EDP version) from the Hanae Mori website back in April 2025, and it reminds me so much of another fragrance I own and love: Lorenzo Pazzaglia Evil Angel. It's crazy how much they resemble each other despite the difference in notes. It wouldn't surprise me that Lorenzo Pazzaglia got inspired by it, because the scent profile, for being such an unusual one, has too many similarities. I wanted to mention I bought this fragrance on FragranceNet back in 2017 before it got discontinued, and I remember it smelling different. It was sharper and more floral, so I ended up giving it away. I know olfactory memory is unreliable, but this recent batch seems to smell smoother, better blended and more complex and balanced than I remember. Doesn't last as long, though. The other one had a stronger fixative.
This is one of the like three fragrances that I was able to dig out and salvage from my large collection I lost to a devastating house fire over two years ago. I bought my 3.4oz bottle in 2012 as a freshman in High School before prices shot up. I used it pretty infrequently dispensing no more than a quarter of the bottle, eventually leaving it at the back of my closet for years. I wasnt really able to realize how good this is, but as a fully grown adult I can tell you this is such a sexy masculine fresh lemon candy. Very linear and just a happy performative wear. Glad I randomly purchased this as an adolescent. Even more glad I was able to pick this out of the rubble and (occasionally!) enjoy for years to come. 🥰
I got this maybe over 15 or 20 years ago and was one of the first fragrances I bought. I must have bought the gift set since I have the edt and aftershave, which strangely, is also a spray. Anyways, when I first got them I kinda liked the scent, but it was so strong like lemonheads sour citrus and a floral creamyness that I couldnt really take it, and barely ever used it, and left it in my room since about a year ago. After collecting over 20 other fragrances since then and finding ones I like, I have tried this one again, and I actually quite like it now. It seems to have mellowed out quite a bit, which it probably has, being basically a vintage now. Fragrances do have shelf lives. anyways, the aftershave is nice too. The aftershave had a slightly different but same scent as the fragrance, but being a bit more dirty and not as bright rich or sharp. It smells fine to me now though. The scents are the same as when I bought them, but just seem softer and mellow not as loud. I would possibly buy a new one if I didnt have enough scents now as it is, but anyways.. The scent is nice, a rich, thick lemony with some breazy floral elements it seems like. similar in a way to CK one, but they are also very different, the thickness is similar.
Man, I wish I had bought this when it was dirt cheap. I just tried it at a New Year’s party because it was sitting in the bathroom and I fell in love. It’s rich vanilla and Tonka with a lot of interesting facets. I own around 700 bottles, and I’d say this is pretty unique, at least in America. Sorta reminds me of Chanel Homme but with amped up vanilla and Tonka.
Ahh, the first bottle that kick-starts my perfume journey. The opening is fresh spicy, stereotypical men cologne. The dry down is a delicious gourmand vanilla and chocolate. The performance is top notch too. This is a classic gentleman fragrance. However, the recent price change and the withdrawal of wide distribution really ruins my grace towards this frag. Back then I could easily get a 100ml bottle for less than $100 and in a retailer. Now it has gone up a whopping $120 and only possible to purchase from their website??? Unbelievable.
An olfactory representation of a classic American-style vanilla birthday cake with vanilla buttercream frosting: brilliant.
First off, make sure you are looking at the right fragrance. Hanae Mori makes "HM" and "HiM". HM are obviously the initials for Hanae Mori, HiM is a little pun. These are very different fragrances. I suspect that any review that you read below that does not mention the strong floral accord is really talking about "HiM", not this one ("HM"). Right from the beginning, you are hit with a sharp floral barrage. With time, this separates itself into a hefty powdery iris with some lipstick leanings, a synthetic-smelling Lily of the Valley and touches of rose. I don't generally like rose, I don't love iris, and I really only like LOTV if it is paired with some rugged old school fougere notes to keep it from pushing too feminine - so you should not be surprised that this one isn't doing much for me. If you love iris, this might be your jam. The florals remain dominant for most of the life cycle of this one, though a signficant tonka gains traction over the course of the wear. If the woods or oakmoss were boosted enough to provide a counterweight to these, I might have been okay, but they only contribute a bit to the tone, not really to the scent itself. To me, this is a somewhat cloying floral that is best suited either to women or to guys who are okay with the overtly floral iris profile.
I just revisited HM this afternoon. You're getting, to my nose, lemons and chocolate, but I do not find it to be offensive in any way. HM is affordable and basic, but I don't always need complexity.
Upon initial spray, it was bright lemon, woods, and oak moss. As it dried, it became a sweet soft powder with a bit of sharp woods and subtle vanilla. When fully dry, it’s a lovely subtle floral and soft woods with gentle citrus. Very nice. I’m not a fan of oak moss, but the rest of the fragrance is so nice that I’m giving the rest of this to my hubby.
Totally unisex fragrance although marketed towards men. I get a sweet lemon meringue with fresh lavender and light woods . Altogether is very creamy , airy and although almost gourmand, it’s still fresh. I have the EDT. Beautiful fragrance, I bought this at a killer bargain although I don’t think I’d pay full retail for this , because longevity for me was only 4 hours
How you ended up on a review of such an obscure fragrance I'll never know, but if you're an individual who wants to smell individual, then you've come to the right scent. I'm not going to over embellish and tell you how MINDBLOWINGLY AMAZING this is, but I will tell you honestly, that it is a beautiful scent that has stood the test of time and will not only be unique but also enjoyed by most who get their noses on it. It's grown up, yet playful, woody, yet slightly gourmand, but not in the sickly sweet way that most modern gourmands are done. This isn't a clone of a chocolate chip cookie, it's more a chocolate covered fruit that you and your lover share amidst a kiss. Its there, but its not the focal point of the experience. One of my favorite scents of all time
Both EDP and EDT are back in stock on HM website
I really like this frag. Though complex, it dries down to a lovely wood and vanilla / fruit rich vibe. An attractive evening or summer frag ; strong longevity and projection. This isn't a fragrance for everyone, some may consider it a bit too fruity or floral ; aka feminine but to me it's a great addition to my collection and wish it had not been discontinued.
Something a dapper and classy Don of the 90s Japan would wear. Very pleasant but expressive at the same time, if that makes sense.
A fun fragrance that has some joy blended into its juicy/light woods and florals profile. The Cedrat Bois of its time. This is one that makes you smile when you catch it wafting through the air….a very positive wear. I may need to buck up and spend the 100.00 plus for the EDP as my old bottle has finally given up the ghost.
@Delosisles This is definitely a fragrance for confident men, so your hesitation to wear it outside of your home makes sense.
Simply put, I love this fragrance! To me , I literally smells like a bowl of fruit loop cereal & chocolate with the perfect hint of lemon zest! The dry down mix of all of that is just beautiful. Wonderful composition.
Ok , seriously , whatever happened to the prices?!? It used to go for 16 dollars per 50 ML I paid 35 dollars for both EDP and EDT back in 2018
This is the fragrance that began my journey. It is between this and Gentleman's Reserve Privee between my top 2... I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. I have the EDP of this and the HiM. I could literally not have enough bottles (3 large, and 2 small). This is the standard for me when it comes to fresh and citrus
@Jake Eau de Toilette is sold out on their site and Edp is $118 there. It may or may not be sold out, but it definitely used to be available for a lot less!
This is not discontinued. It's still available on the company's website at less than the prices on eBay. Good scent. Good value.
