24 Faubourg

I am obsessed with hyacinths, so, unsurprisingly, I adore this fragrance. It's like an extremely heavy, sweet & slightly more modern version of my favorite Cristalle EDP. Normally, I'd still find 24 Faubourg far too cloying, heavily floral & almost bubble-gummy, but I compromise by layering the two to lighten it up & get longer wear time from the former as a result. I've read that the late Princess Diana was a huge fan & I'm guessing the only reason she didn't also wear Cristalle was her issue with the two Cs in Chanel's logo. Damn Charles & Camilla for causing her to miss out on it, but at least she had 24 Faubourg. If you have similar taste and a deep love for hyacinths, you must try this immediately.

Just received the EDP as a gift, it was on my wishlist forever. I found it too sweet and “loud”for myself, unfortunately, way sweeter and more pronounced than Jour, which I wear from time to time. I remember liking 24 F and finding it elegant in a small perfume boutique in Paris. in my memory, it had a dry accent, but perhaps it was Mitsouko. If you like big, bright, floral, feminine scents, you might give this classic a try, although it is very 90’s. Described as a “white floral” perfume, 24 F is exactly that, with orange blossom being most noticeable, at least to me. Because it lacks the oakmoss base, I find it too sweet and lacking depth. It feels a bit too bold and shrill to me, although less so than, say, Ellie Saab, Lancôme Poeme, or Givenchy L’Interdit (not a fan of all three). I like orange blossom just fine, but it’s done well in Stella by Tocca — it caresses rather than slaps. I’ll let this one sit in a dark place and see if I warm up to it. I don’t hate it and have a sense that it might be good, it just does not represent me in its spring floral glory. I usually don’t associate myself with the spring season and spring flowers are not my favorite ones. Aaaaand I still think anything by Hermes is infinitely better than most Sephora gourmands of the moment. You see how hard I’m trying to like 24 Faubourg? I almost convinced myself. Almost.

I absolutely love all hermes perfumes you wont see me giving a bad reveiw and the reason is that all hermes perfumes have quality. A quality that doesnt shout out here I am im wearing perfume. They all become much more skin scents and personal. I do not get the old lady vibes and if anyone does then they feel like this for all white flowery powdery scents. Its a classic scent of white flowers with a hint of sweetness and a hint of powder. Very elegant and fragile scent. If you like coco mademoiselle then you will like this. I can say that that coco mademoiselle is more fruity whilst this one is far more floral and far more of a skin scent. I personally love it and im not a huge flower fan but this I find absolutely refined and I cant pin point all the notes since they blend and compliment eachother elegantly. I do not find this perfume to give me headaches like most floral perfumes and I definitely do not find it boring.

Down history lane #7 – 24 Fabourg Previously, in my Shalimar review, i’ve mentioned how i took a peek into classic perfumery through purchasing a few miniatures of the most iconic perfumes out there. What started me on this was a miniature of Bal a Versailles, a composition famously worn by Michael Jackson. Actually, my goal was two-fold: first, to hold a piece of perfume history and secondly, to hold a piece of cultural history by having something in my collection that is tied to famous personalities. 24 Fabourg by Hermes was one of Princess Diana of Wales’ favourite perfumes so naturally i felt like it belongs in my mini-collection of cultural pieces. I cannot say that i’ve done my thorough homework on Princess Diana’s life, or the Royal Family for that matter but no one can deny that she left a mark on the world. What i do find heartwarming is that Princess Diana remains in the collective mind as one of the kindest and friendliest people that ever lived. To be remembered by your kindness is unfortunately a rare thing if you ask me. Other then her charity work, Princess Diana was also characterised by her elevated taste in fashion. Classic, timeless elegance interpreted in a modern way is how i would describe it and that was my preconception for 24 Fabourg aswell. When you paint a picture in your head about how a perfume could smell like, its hard to erase it if reality doesn’t match the expectations but thankfully its not the case. 24 Fabourg smells like a melange of florals sitting on top of a gently sweet base. As others before me pointed out, you cannot quiet pinpoint all the type of florals yet i personally identify the Jasmine in the base that provides the soft sweet nouance. I pick up on orange blossom aswell, providing a greener natural side especially early on the perfume’s evolution. Judging by pictures, Princess Diana wasn’t afraid to sprinkle colors in her fashion choices yet the structure of her attires retained a degree of seriousness and maturity befitting for a woman in her position. 24 Fabourg matches that aesthetic very well in my opinion because its not a perfume devoid of colors yet it maintains its composure by not overdoing it. Does 24 Fabourg smell oldschool or mature? Definetly not oldschool but it is mature in my eyes. To me it smells like 90’s elegance. Its what i would call a conservative leaning elegant fragrance thanks to the white floral nature but not exactly simplistic, riggid or dull-elegant. It strikes a good balance between class and maturity with aproachability and general pleasantness. Interestingly, its the jasmine that provides both the mature class and the pleasant sweetness that steers it away from being austere. Elegance can often be accompanied by riggid austerity but Fabourg dodges that succesfully. I wouldn’t necessarily gift the perfume to someone in her early 20’s but i don’t see how a woman in her 30’s wouldn’t appreciate 24 Fabourg unless her taste and behaviour is severely lagging behind her in terms of age-appropriateness. Out of all the Pour Femme perfumes i’ve tested so far, 24 Fabourg is one of my favourite creations and i can confidently say it matched Princess Diana’s personality well.

This is a quick review of the original 24 Faubourg eau de toilette. I wore this a lot when it first came out, which I'm positive was before the 1995 date given in the description here. I remember what job I was doing when I wore it, and it was more like 1992 or 1993. Regardless, I wore it a lot even though I was disappointed it wasn't as great as its predecessors, Amazone and Hermes (in the horseshoe shaped bottle). And I was smarting from the price; the early 1990's was still the era of full retail. Then I got away from it entirely. I got way beyond being clobbered over the head by gardenia/orange blossom/jasmine perfumes. There were a lot of them by the mid-1990s, a real mine field if you didn't like them. I'm throwing this out here as a caution. I love vintage scents, but don't buy a vintage bottle of this original 24 Faubourg. The description here says it's light, "...a breeze blowing....." This was never a light breeze wafting; this was at best a torrential rain. And 30+ years in a dark closet haven't improved it. I sprayed my original bottle today and it's an instant scrubber. Intense doesn't begin to describe it. The juice is a dark orange now, so be wary. After scrubbing it off, Montale Dark Aoud barely covered the residual.

The modern EDT of 24 Fauberg is a superlative, near purely white floral, statement piece. Could one do better? ..Maybe, ...I'm not prepared to rank all the grandly epic white floral perfumes. (...and be very sceptical of anyone who claims he or she can.) All I'm saying is one could do much worse very easily. This remains an idol of elegance (and olfactory 'power' dressing) in a bottle

Lush and hyacinthy upon opening, with a fruitiness that reminds me a bit of Cacharel Eden (sorry, but I love that perfume). Now that it has dried, I get more gardenia and other vanillic white flowers. Very nice smell, I can imagine it really working in the spring. (EDT) curious now to try the EDP.

None of the reviews mention if they're reviewing eau de parfum or eau de toilette. The fragrantica listing doesn't differentiate, and have a separate listing for each. I know from experience the 2 can be significantly different. Anyone care to comment? Thanks.

A gorgeous white floral scent. To me, the orange blossom is the most prominent … Very airy, dreamy, creamy infusion of white florals. It’s very classy, mature and elegant. As it settles, it becomes slightly powdery, almost comforting … It has the old world charm … something that I always admire. Un profumo come questo,nella sua versione originale degli anni 90 ( e non una riformulazione seguente,dove gli ingredienti naturali sono stati diluito o rimpiazzati da quella spazzatura tossica chiamata aromachemical),è una bomba di bontà,bellezza e benessere psicofisico. Gli aromi di fiori puri e carnali sembrano vivi,fiori tropicali densi e cerosi,ambra grigia naturale,resine calde e una sensazione di essere sotto il sole. Un profumo elegante, le note naturali dentro sono tantissime e permettono al bouquet di durare ore ed ore cambiando in continuazione. Si adatta benissimo a un uomo come a una donna, le scie finali sono vaniglia e resine calde,patchouli,muschio di quercia, spezie galbanum,vetiver secco. Avendo provato di recente 13 profumi attuali definiti "di nicchia" e tanto pubblicizzati e lodati, e non mi sono piaciuti minimamente,e poi sentendo questo anni 90,il confronto non esiste.

This is how you do an old money floral with personality, in a way that is enjoyable and intriguing without needing to be the main character. This is the character who everyone knows, but nobody realizes is running the show until the series finale. This is Lucille Bluth in her greatest moments. Though this fragrance is not one of my 6 or so signature scents which express who I am in different contexts, it is such a well crafted classic that I will return to it every now and then. I discovered this around 2000, and have delightful memories of the grandmothers of my Dad's small working class town sniffing me out at the post mass, Italian food extended family dinners and complimenting me, all of us embraced in a cloud of Coco, Angel, Spellbound, furniture made from actual wood, and rich red Sunday sauce with pecorino romano. The standout notes are hyacinth, iris, a truly well played touch of gardenia, ylang ylang, amber, and sandalwood. In true Hermes fashion, I always sense at least a whisper of leather. I didn't even recognize the hyacinth because it's so well balanced and does not at all smell like an Easter bouquet. But this scent isn't really about the individual notes so much as how they all come together. It's a warm sophisticated floral with good sillage, but not a hot one, so it *can* be worn in summer but just a light mist. In my mind there is no greater, more comforting symphony of scent than a grandmother perfume. The only reason to ever avoid them in my mind is in situations where people might be sensitive, like work, school, medical, etc. I could not be more thrilled from the time I was as young as I can remember, to be told or even just know that my scent imbues that feeling to those around me. In a world where anyone can be sexy, be a nonna.

Overall, pleasant, very floral, very gardenia. And the gardenia is quite realistic. Jasmine, ylang-ylang, and gardenia seem to be the unholy trinity of perfumes of a certain vintage, back from the time when a lot of people smoked. I'd like to like this perfume, but it is very grande dame. Perfume gender is usually nonsense and few perfumes are actually difficult for one sex or the other to wear, but men who could pull off this one are going to be few and far between. It's also not an ingenue's perfume, but a grown woman's who knows who she is and what she needs to accomplish. Edit on 2025-12-23: It's a bit too much for me. The gardenia is very strong.

I love this scent, even if some would classify it as an old lady perfum. It is bright and cold for most of its performance, floral and sophisticated without being indolic, then dries down to a mellow vanilla-dusted amber scent with something reminiscent of Dior Hypnotic Poison, a dry, almost black walnut finish. I’m surprised no aldehydes listed, I get some of that too.

No explanation for dicontinuing this gem. Clearly Hermes! nothing to do with the present of this brand. I d dare to say in the Van Cleef s first season or the Chanel Nro 5, 19 and Chrystal classic style. Saddly missing.

Mostly amber. The top and middle notes float on top of it. It is initially very wearable with a comfortable, woody skin-like smell, but towards the end becomes a bit heavy and overly woody.

You know when you have a new lady boss and she presents herself as very elegant and classy, acting cold and aloof. She keeps her distance and is very commanding. But with time she eases a bit and becomes more approachable. This is 24 F. On my skin 24 F unfolds in 3 stages. For the first two hours it is an amazing hyacinth.it rules with a strong presence. A green waxy floral but not as sharp and biting as in Cabotine. And although it’s not my favorite floral note I truly enjoy it here. For the following 4 hours or so it softens a lot. The protagonist is now the orange blossom which I love; bright, fragrant and slightly sweet. The gardenia is there freshly green and slightly creamy without smelling like coconut as in many more recent perfumes. Another mesmerizing stage. For the last two hours 24F reaches the base notes and is now a very close skin scent; mostly woody and ambery. It is a one of very few fragrances that I consider as proper chypre florals in the absence of oak moss. Rumor has it that Lady D wore 24 F at one stage of her life. It is truly a bottle and juice befitting royalty.

I normally don’t care much for floral fragrances but I really do like this one! It is strong in my opinion but that’s ok! I feel it would be suitable to wear as a daytime perfume for special occasions during any season. So cool to think that Princess Diana loved this perfume- it makes it very special feels very classy!

This was one of Princess Diana’s favourite fragrances. It’s lovely.

This is such a gorgeous classic floral. I’m a floral fan and I blind-bought this, it was a successful purchase. I think if you like florals and you’re familiar with classic perfumes such as Quelques Fleurs and L’Heure Bleue, you will like this. It is that classic “big floral” style that is very “of an era” but it does not smell super dated, at least not to me. It has a more classic air compared to more recent perfumes, but not to the extent that I would be uncomfortable wearing it out and about. I will say it has a more mature vibe - no, absolutely not “grandma” but I think this would have felt a little much for me in my twenties. I’m ok wearing this now in my early 30s. It does also have an elegance and stateliness about it that makes me think of special dressy occasions. I definitely don’t see myself wearing this beauty with sweatpants and a t-shirt, it deserves pretty dresses, classy occasions, and nights out.

Both my no1 and no2 perfume were discontinued in the same year, my beloved Westwood boudoir then this beauty, I was completely gutted, anyway, the relaunched it and and I’m so glad it’s still The same, exactly like I remember, sometimes they change the original version and you can be disappointed I don’t know where I found this perfume. Maybe I found it when I was when I was doing babysitting around 2002, I was given a little bit that was left in a bottle and the person I was doing babysitting for gave me some, I was captured 25 years later and after a relaunch this is still a dream for me and I’m so glad to have one of my originals back This perfume is so yellow. There is a slight peachy undertone, with a mild spice, most of my perfume have a spicy hit, which I love, but this is mild in comparison to my usual fragrance, at the moment I have been using fakkah Rose and Khamrah, and the coco intense, which doesn’t have the usual amount of spice I like Regarding the 24 F, It definitely is a perfume for an older woman, at least a woman in her 40s, it has the smell of establishment and experience so I feel this is not a younger woman’s fragrance I’m 54 and I have been wearing it since I was in my early 30s, maybe this is a younger woman’s scent after all, let all woman of all ages experience this scent on the body This was love at first sniff. Unfortunately this was discontinued for a couple of years or so ago, back in around 2020-ish and I was devastated, but now it’s back again and I’ve just purchased my first bottle since I found it has been re-released and I am definitely still besotted It is everything I remembered. This is for a woman who is strong and independent, I feel she is a single woman, living her best life and beholden to no one, this perfume is me and I am she.

Opens green and zesty, settles into a richly honeyed white floral bouquet of gardenia, jasmine, and orange blossom. There's a mossy chypre-like feel when it really starts to dry down, but the florals take the main stage. A perfect springtime fragrance, very strong and lasts all day on skin and double that on clothes. Definitely reminds me of Boucheron EDP.

Pure class. Little white dress, kitten heels, silk scarf, brunch with family on a sunny day, somewhere fancy. Subtle necklace with a tiny diamond. Instant mood uplift and quiet confidence giver. I think it suits well for any occasion. Well, maybe except going to an underground techno club. A signature-worthy fragrance.

This is Sunday lunch with parents.Fragnance is so hommy.elegant in traditional way ,and so uplift.Perfrct for winter time.

Ylang Ylang is excessive and heavy

I love this so much. It smells as if you walk into an expensive florist shop around early spring. I say flower shop as you will smell all the different types of early spring flowers plus their stems and freshly cut juices. Stunning! In a weird way the opening reminds me of 4711 due to the strong bergamot top note and the bitter hyacinth. It blends beautifully with the rest. So imagine you smell 4711 in an expensive flower shop around Feb/March. Whenever I wear this the spring season has officially started. You don't just smell like a flower bouquet with this perfume, no, you smell like the entire flower shop in the best possible way. I love this perfume!

This smells like pure royalty. The moment I smelt this in the Hermes store, I was quite surprised of how white floral it smelled, nonetheless, I did like it quite a bit. It reminds me so much of my Bubbie and I just might wear it myself,

24 Faubourg by Hermès will always be one of my favourite's. A beautifully timeless scent with a soft but also bold smell. My Grandmother has worn this perfume ever since it came out in 1995 (?) and she has loved it since. It truly has something special to it and it's one of those that really never gets boring. I do think this is more of a perfume for more elegant and sophisticated women and for events such as dinners, family occasions and formal events. Love, love, love Hermès for this. Oh, and it was one of Princess Diana's favourite's!

After at least four years of macerating in a cool place away from direct light, it finally lost that dirty laundry note. It’s plush layers of white florals and it’s gorgeous. Classic alluring mystique. Simultaneously luxurious and chic in character.

So I was 17 when this came out. My mom just left the mall and brought this home to me and says.. Princess Diana wears this!!! It came with a beautiful sheer orange sachet with the hermes logo on the bottom of it. When I first smelled it I really liked it ,it was different then the scents I had on my dresser. Fragrances like poison, anais, anais. Samsara, beautiful, ralph lauren purple square bottle with gold cap. Colors by Benetton , paris ysl etc.. It wasnt just because it was so beautiful in its presentation the etched bottle with the brushed gold cap. It wasn't even that a princess wore it. I just really liked it. I wore it everyday to school till i graduated and bought another bottle a few mos later. I didn't know about perfumes like I do now. But I did know I didnt like loud florals. Faubourg was floral but loved what ever was in it tamming it down from becomming heady. I believe its the orange blossom. I still have my 2nd bottle and it smells just as good as it did in the 90s I get compliments on it all the time and ironically enough by young girls. So much for the old lady comments. I can honestly say ive never had anyone come to me and say you smell like a rich old lady from the 90s. These girls complimenting me weren't even born yet to think they knew what vintage even smelled like.haha I'll tell you the modern scents that smell vintage and old lady now any narcisso Rodriguez and chloe fragrances. Not bashing them I like alot if them, there nostalgic to me and hugs from my grandma's. Chloe love story to much for me that gets in my eyes and mouth very sharp to me. But explain why some florals are sharp and others don't bother me. Hubigant Quelque le fleurs !! love that one too my great grandmother wore that and I still rock it today first niche fragrance I ever had before niche was even a thing that is the strongest perfume ever!! Another floral that does not bother me. It's all in your chemistry. I will always have this fragrance its a special scent and I feel good that I get it. I hope you will get it too.
