This really feels like walking through a garden full of green fruits, vegetables and fresh leaves. I get that juicy, slightly tart mango mixed with a very green, almost vegetal smell, and that’s what makes it so enjoyable in hot weather. It’s also very easy to wear, quite harmless, and I think both men and women can enjoy it without any problem.
Intimate sillage but I also spray this sparingly. Kinda peppery in a tomato vine typa way, but it doesn't make me sneeze. The green mango note in the opening is almost photorealistic, which evokes pleasant memories of fresh green mango salad as a SE Asian. This is probably the first green fragrance I've come across that I actually like. It feels like I've been walking through a tropical garden in the summer while wearing overalls and a sunhat, but it's not stereotypically tropical or sweet. There's no hint of coconut or sunscreen. It's just green, peppery, and intimate without any of the earthiness of soil (or if there is a soil note, it's not obvious). I actually really like this and would wear this again for sure. Attractive packaging. If you dislike most "summer" fragrances like me, then this might be the summer fragrance for you.
Love, love, love. I can't personally pick out any one particular note, maybe citrus if I really think about it. It's a lovely blend of green but not grassy notes and citrus but not bitter notes. To me it smells refreshing and a bit exotic. Like I'm sat by a lush, cool pond in a really hot climate.
I really wanted to like it, but the smell of tomatoes and carrots was unbearable.
I tried this after reading the book about its creation (The Perfect Scent by C. Burr). I only tested it on paper. After the first few minutes, it develops into a lovely scent of green ripening fruit. It's not super sweet/gourmand or tropical; it's green, fresh, crisp. The freshness of it also doesn't have the sharp aquatic "cologne-y" note that I sometimes get from scents described that way. Light while still having a "classic" vibe to it.
Realistic green mango. Beautiful crisp scent for a chill morning. I just finished a 100ml bottle. Toward the end though I got bored of it, I use it as a bathroom spray. Talk about being bougie :) There are other nice scents from this line and I'm going to sample them throughly. JeanClaude Ellena is one of my fav perfumers.
Wow. Wonderfully citrusy, slightly bitter, green and incredibly fresh. Right from the start I get grapefruit, mango, tomato leaf and a watery green scent. Together they create a really unique combination that's cool, refreshing and very natural. The tomato note even reminds me a little of a Bloody Mary, giving it a slightly savory twist. It's not sweet at all. Instead, it's clean, green and incredibly uplifting. If you enjoy fresh, watery green fragrances, this is beautiful.
Lemongrass and water, clean and refreshing! A great setting - and the theme is directly there! With some imagination also the glaring sun and heat comes through - since the scent becomes a bit dryer after a few minutes (seconds) on the skin. After a couple of minutes more some earthiness comes in as well, still remaining fairly dry. A more masculine scent, overall. Nonetheless, any woman should be able to pull this off as well. Not necessarily your evening go-out go-to scent (even though possible, still, e.g. at a bbq). A very interesting fresh perfume that's at the same time dry and even a bit weighty. Probably more of a daylight scent but also suitable for warm summer nights!
Lemon flavored effervescent tablets and vegetable leaves. The vegetal quality really gives it depth, makes me feel like I am submerged underwater, feeling the bubbles grazing my skin and tickling me lol. You need to give it time for it to reveal itself to you, I don't feel like it's something that would stop you in your tracks right away, especially if you're trying it alongside many other fragrances like I did. As someone who is sensitive to a lot of scents, I really appreciate this one. It's delightful.
I loved the opening. Wonderfully citrusy, a bit bitter, green and fresh. Alas, it dries down way too fast into something way too boring and borderline retro-powdery on my skin. Too much iris, perhaps. I wanted to like it (From the garden by Margiela being my current summer favourite, I hoped to discover more hot weather unisex scents that aren't too fruity or flowery), I wanted it to work, but it just didn't, it's way too sweet for me. Ended up giving a full bottle to my mother, she loves it.
Cheaper alternative to pacific chill luis vuiton
The openning is bitter with a hint of unpleasantness, definitely not a blind buy edit: the mid and the bottom notes are more pleasant, soap like, but the scent is nothing to write home about
I like that this perfume is so unique, and the idea of it reminding of the Nile riverbank.
Love this on my wife
To me, this is more a classic perfume scent. Citrusy, green floral, those fake-ass aquatic notes… It started very bright and citrusy and then green. Soon after the tomato leaf entered with a bang, yummy. Smelled like actual garden at this stage. After about an hour, the green garden disappeared and was replaced by strong aquatic notes. Too fake and perfumey like plastic water. A few hours later, those aquatic notes softened. It became fresher again, finally KINDA felt like sitting beside a lake on a warm summer day with flowers growing nearby. It is a beautiful story, but not one I want to revisit. I can understand why people love it, but it doesn't match my personality or the kinds of places I want a fragrance to transport me to.
This smells very close to Mancera Melody of the Sun. I like them both, but the Mancera performs a little better.
The opening is crisp, vegetal, exotic, and weird. You can smell the grapefruit note along with a combination of green mango and tomato leaf, which seems to be responsible for a pungent facet in the background, throwing the entire composition off into unpleasant territory. As the sharpness intensifies, the scent becomes more synthetic, eventually starting to resemble insect repellent. Once the aggressiveness subsides, the perfume shifts into an airy, aquatic floral, light pink, and fully feminine scent with notes of lotus and peony. It is an interesting transition that creates an unexpected yet conceptually justified contrast within the fragrance itself. Interesting on paper, but unappealing and ultimately too feminine for a supposedly unisex fragrance in reality. 3/10
It has a lot less going on than the notes might suggest. Still, a timeless one. The opening is a very nice grapefruit (supported by methyl pamplemouss). It does have a refined, tropical fruit opening as well. It's got the signature Hermes opening with the bergamot, very classy. This also carries that signature vetiver base that Hermes is known for, and the projection is decent for a freshy. Almost immediately I pick up on that clean vetiver smell. Seriously, it reminds me of Terre D'Hermes Parfum but without all the creaminess and less oakmoss. (It's like they took the parfum but stripped it of the patchouli and oakmoss). It ends up smelling slightly like a men's classic fragrance. Somewhat disappointing mid and drydown when the citrus has mostly faded. Still a very good pickup (I saw some on Ebay for 45$? If thats true, it's well worth 45$, in my opinion.
I was a little afraid of the combination of tomato, iris and incense, but I still wanted to try out what Garden of the Nile smells like. I had a sniff at a perfumery and I was not too excited. But I had no idea what awaited me on the way home in the hot sun. It smelled wonderful. It's a fresh, lemony scent. There is something vegetable about it, but I perceive it as mystical, mysterious, like a river where sun and shadow alternate, all underlined by humidity. And the incense is so subtly smoky. Really beautiful, especially for a tropical summer. I perceive on my skin a bit of a similarity to Byredo Bal d Afrique - maybe it is the lemon, the relaxing effect or the connection with the continent :-) So beautiful. After spraying it, it is quite pronounced and projects into the surroundings, gradually fading away - a very nice effect. My first Hermés.
As an Egyptian, I don't think this necessarily smells like the Nile. But it's very unique and quite vegetal. I don't think you can wear it when the weather is under 80 degrees because you'll end up smelling like vegetable garden or a loaded veggie salad. But let me tell you, this scent is BEAUTIFUL on sweltering hot, humid days. It transforms from from a tomato basil soup into a summer party in a villa on the Mediterranean sea. Temperature is a big factor is whether or not you'll like this.
Sadly this is way worse than expected. Basically just Au The Vert with tomato basil notes.
My favorite this summer. The longevity is solid in dry heat, perfect for where I am. Super clean, citrus, this is my low effort reach for days.
Airy, slightly bitter grapefruit opening slides into something unpleasantly grassy, vegatal, and artificially floral. These notes are not in harmony; they compete for attention. On my skin, the drydown hits within 15 minutes, at which point I smell like I doused myself in ketchup, then washed my hands with a cheap, mini guest soap at a Motel 6.
A nice-enough citrus green scent, heavy on the lemon, grassy, slight whisper of tomato leaf, simple, subdued, unisex. Not particularly memorable, but I found it more tasteful than the average department store scent.
I love it but it lasts less than 30 minutes. From all the "Jardins" I have or tested this is very disappointing in terms of longevity, especially on skin (Wearing it in June). Monsieur Li lasts 1 day on me, le Toit not that long, but a few hours. Cythere many many hours but it leans to masculine on me. I don't know about the rest
This smells like tomato. Although I love eating tomatoes, instead this fragrance literally triggered my gag reflex. Not metaphorically, but literally
This perfume has such a beautiful summer vibe! Fresh, green and uplifting. My absolute favourite of all the Jardins.
I'm so sad, I've gotten two samples of this and it smells nothing like the notes listed on my skin. All I'm getting is a generic soap smell, there's no orange, no grapefruit. I want to love it but I just can't smell it I guess.
This is my signature scent. I've been a perfume hater my whole life. Everyone around me liked stronger scents, so I always thought perfume was terrible and didn't wear any for years. My mom got gifted a sample of this and gave it to me. It was instant love. My only complaint is that it didn't last long, but this ended up being an advantage for someone like me. If you're someone that's sensitive to strong scents, this is perfect. It smells like a luxury spa and lasts quite long on the skin actually(8 hours for me). Got the full bottle and it's been my signature scent for a year now. 10/10
Too gourmand for me
