This is a beautiful scent but the longevity is horrendous for a designer fragrance. It's been 2 hours and I can only faintly smell the scent if I sniff my clothing. It's a mostly sweet honey fragrance with a little bit of citrus. I get very little floral notes or ginger. It's an easy grab but I wish it lasted!
Looking to sell my bottle. Partial bottle, comes full presentation. Shipping from and to UK only.
This one has such a special place in my heart 🥺 This was one of my very first perfumes as a teen, and I remember being completely obsessed with it. It felt so grown, so feminine, like I was stepping into a version of myself I hadn’t fully met yet. It’s warm, sweet, and a little spicy, like a cozy honeyed ginger tea with soft florals in the background. I used up my whole bottle (which says everything), but interestingly, I never repurchased it. Coming back to it now, I can see why I loved it; it’s easy, pretty, and comforting, but my taste has evolved into something a little more complex. Still, this will always be a love for me. One of those scents that feels like a memory you can wear ✨
Arrived today so a very early review - opens with a fruity citrus scent and dries down with a cotton powdery clean vanilla. Perfect non offensive perfume to wear to work, an intimate to medium silage.
Beautiful scent to layer but sits very close to skin.
Sweet honey with a romantic spice that warms up the experience. Soft, sweet, and indulgent. As soon as I purchased this it became my everyday scent in the fall, I couldn't get enough. It has great longevity and an interesting balance between a gentle projection and a next-to-skin warmth. There's more dimension in this than other honey fragrances I've smelled, with more of an orange rind acidity to balance the sweetness. If you enjoy a feminine vanilla and honey fragrance, you can't go wrong with this.
true to the listed notes ! sweet and spicy and warm but not overly so, just the right amount ! will definitely be wearing this into the summer and i think i’ll get away with it just fine. i got this as a mini but ended up getting the full bottle because it’s become one of my favorite fragrances !! also has a pretty decent atomizer compared to my other designer frags ! also, this scent layers beautifully with basically everything which i didn’t expect from the notes but it works so well !! so much to love :)
I enjoy Burberry Goddess, but both its strength and sweetness are sadly soooo headache-inducing for me. I agree with others in that Illicit has a vaguely similar scent profile but with floral honey rather than vanilla and lavender. Its smell is almost like a photorealistic cup of jasmine green tea with honey, an orange wedge and freshly grated ginger. This would be a love for me if the top notes were more prominent, but I've yet to smell an offering from Jimmy Choo I didn't like! :) I'm also surprised to see Dossier's Slice of Heaven in the "reminds me of" section. Scent is subjective, of course, but Slice of Heaven is an intense white floral and patchouli bomb by comparison. If anything, Illicit's vibe reminds me more so of Jessica Simpson's Fancy (which I also own and like) minus the kind of dated, powdery dry down.
This reminds me of Burberry goddess.. which I have.. nice ginger and orange.. with a honey sweet dry down.. maybe I can smell lavender.. good blind buy if you like amber scents
I smell a lot of the honey, amber, ginger and the orange. This is truly an underrated gem. I don’t know how more people don’t talk about this one. I received a mini bottle of this a couple of years ago and the juice has darkened now, but I will 100% be buying a full bottle now that I’ve revisited this scent.
sooo surprised by how almost identical it is to burberry goddess! maybe with a little bit less vanilla and more citrus. dries down sweet, lasts all day, projects beautifully, costs actually next to nothing🫚🤍!
I bought this scent years back, and I always forget how much I like it. It is very sweet, but the citrus and ginger add some brightness to balance out the caramel and honey notes. To me it is almost in the same family as Angham. They both have ginger and citrus in the top notes, jasmine in the mid, and amber and vanilla in the base notes. However, Illicit is a bit sweeter and it almost has a lipstick-like note. It's like a more mature version of Angham or Goddess. Easy to wear and smells pretty classy imo.
This was a blind buy, but unfortunately I don't like it very much. I think it might be a bit too sweet for me, it becomes quite cloying, and there's a note in it somewhere which really bothers me but I can't pinpoint what it is. I don't pick up on rose at all, but I do smell some floral notes. It's definitely honeyed and a little spicy. It's a shame as I thought the notes sounded lovely, but it just isn't for me. I will say though for 100ml I paid £32.99 so quite affordable!
The dry down of this one (on my skin) actually reminded me of my vintage Boudoir by Vivienne Westwood, and I’m now craving a wear of that funky citrusy vanilla floral weirdness… but illicit isn’t all that similar and i actually find it to be extremely powdery. The opening i find to be a bit powdery and sharp, and a bit cloying (-the honey?). I guess the sharp powder smell is the idea of bitter orange and ginger (bc it doesn’t smell like the authentic version of either). I’m not getting any florals, especially not orange blossom -which normally stands out to me and is very loud, if anything I am picking up rose more than orange blossom or jasmine. 15 minutes in I’m mostly getting (in order of prevalence) 1) cashmere wood, 2) amber, 3) vanilla 4) rose 5) honey. From a distance, this perfume gives me the vibe of dark red Jell-O, or like a XXX vitamin water, makeup powder, also a little animallic like the smell of scalp or hair. I definitely prefer how it smelled on me upon waking (7 hours after) to the fresh application. I’ll probably continue to edit this as I get familiar with my sample. Edit: although I’m not crazy about the opening, I’m actually really digging the dry down which on me is a fairly non-descript luxury perfume smell. Ambery, woody, and the sweet.
This is nice. The juice in my bottle has darkened but there are still prominent ginger and bitter orange notes to balance out the honey, amber, caramel and vanilla. As several other commenters have mentioned, it smells like a cosy winter beverage, a honey-sweetened orange and ginger tea. In fact, inspired by Illicit I will go and see if I can find a good herbal infusion to accompany the fragrance. EDIT: Tea located. YOGI ginger and orange tea with vanilla. Sweetened with just a touch of Black Bee honey, it is perfect for this time of year. I do like a multisensory fragrance experience.
I wanted to love this because of the promise of ginger but it’s a no for me. Tested but did not purchase. It’s a perfectly nice scent, I did get the freshness and a bit of ginger for maybe the first 30min. It then settled into a sweet generic scent, non-descript. Tiny bit of citrus, sweetness and airy. It has a note that is very familiar to me from the mid 2000s and because of that too it’s a pass. I loved my scents from that period but because I don’t have memory association with this one it just doesn’t work for me. Also this became a skin scent in less than 3 hours. 🫚🌸🍋😐
This is anything but illicit. It is a crowd pleasing and versatile scent for fall. It’s appropriate for work, it’s feminine and warm for a night out, and it’s soft enough for lounging around the house. Illicit is an orange tea scent with honey and ginger. It reminds me of Juicy Couture Gold, Wanted Girl, and JPG Scandal, but a more toned-down version of that scent profile because of the tea-like qualities. I think if you also like Angel’s Share and want something that is lighter and less boozy than you will love Jimmy Choo Illicit. If you want to enhance the honey note layer this with Bath and Body Works Honey Comb or if you prefer to enhance the ginger and freshness layer it with Twilly Ginger. This is a 9/10 for me. Illicit is a mildly spicy, golden, radiant scent but she does not shout for attention. This is also a great transitional fragrance. Summer - fall or winter - spring. You could almost wear it year-round, the only exception would be extreme heat. I have to reapply at the four hour mark, but I do not mind, it’s affordable and easy to carry in your bag. Just don’t pay full price, this is at every discounter.
I just blind bought a bottle from shoppers clearance sale and it was definitely a win! I'm surprised nobody is comparing this to Rare. It's such a similar profile: spicy gingery vanilla. I always felt that Rare pulled pretty gingery on me but in comparison to this I feel like it's more caramel after all (to my shock!) and this is more floral leaning. I guess over the past year I've discovered that I do tend to like warm and spicy profiles like ginger or pepper mixed with vanilla. I don't get a lot of honey from this, more of an amber scent, and the florals are not shining through but just there in the background adding a bit more depth to the scent (which I much prefer!). So if you like the profile of Rare, you'll most certainly like this one! Honestly a gem for such price!
I probably should have waited before reviewing this perfume, since I only received it a few days ago for Christmas but here I am. This fragrance is absolutely lovely. I may be late to the party, but it’s such a warm, sweet, feminine scent that I honestly can’t imagine anyone disliking it, making it a true crowd pleaser. I sprayed it on my coat and immediately received a compliment from my husband, so I’m really happy with this one 💛
I’ve received a bottle of this masterpiece a few month ago. It starts citrusy with soft flowers and honey. Than as it lays on your skin it turns into a blend of caramel and cinnamon. I really enjoy this fragrance and i think it definetely will be a part of my long-term collection however, it might be a bit too sweet or gourmand for some.
Absolutely beautiful fragrance. To me, it smells like a delicious cup of ginger tea with honey. It's sweet, but so perfectly balanced that it never gets cloying. Very versatile, could be perfect for every age, occasion and weather. It may be a bit too sweet for some on hot summer days, but the ginger is so refreshing that it can be worn in the heat too. I detect no similarities to Black Opium. Illicit doesn't really remind me to anything I've ever smelled, it's quite unique, perfect for a signature scent. Longevity is great, I can smell it for a good 6 hours on my skin, even longer on clothes. I also really like the simple, kinda minimalistic bottle. Truly a hidden gem, totally worth the price.
I find it to be very unique and nice perfume. Honey notes are definitely there, however its not too sweet. In my opinion, it is almost "not sweet". A bit sour scent, I always imagine color orange when I smell it. It doesnt trigger my migraines/headache. It is a very well-balanced and well-made perfume. Not very girly, it feels like quiet luxury. its not too much, its just enough. This is a perfume that says, "I am who I am, I'm not trying to pretend to be someone I'm not." I don't think that it's too sexy or too casual. This is the type of perfume that could definitely be someone's signature.
I'd just like to note: This had very similar scent notes to Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal, absent the patchouli (which is not for me).
The scent is a chameleon. Gentle, caressing, sensual, different every time it is on. Today I feel it as a jasmine tea. It likes warmed skin which makes it a perfect party scent - it will project but won't offend anyone, quite the contrary, it will lure others in. Very feminine and transparent. It is so good that you want to smell it from up close, also because it does not project sufficiently. On the plus side someone catching a whiff while hugging you will want to stay longer in your embrace. It is this attractive. It is universal with regards to weather and occasion-wise, but is puts me in a mood to go out, smoke a cigarette and seduce a stranger.
Oh this is good! A sweet honey floral. It’s unlike anything I have in my collection and it gets me lots of “ooo what perfume are you wearing” whenever I wear it. I will always have a bottle of this in my collection. My current one is 3 months old and the longevity and silage is insane now, like it’s improved with time. Can’t beat the price of $30 for a 100ml either. I can overspray for that price
Probably the best variation of the Black Opium DNA I’ve tried. It doesn’t get bitter and powdery like Black Opium though. In fact, it gets a bit sweeter as it sits on the skin. The jasmine is the star (which is why to me it’s not that comparable to Libre, where the orange blossom and lavender is the centerpiece). The honey is there but not weird of overwhelming. The performance is meh. It’s office safe and very layer-able.
Even tho the written notes aren’t the same. When I smelled this I instantly said BLACK OPIUM! And I enjoy black opium. So I very much enjoy this.
It reminds me a lot of J. Simpson's Fancy, but sweeter. Much, much sweeter. It gets spicier 30 minutes in, but sillage is a huge let down.
Turns too sickly sweet on my skin - not what I expected from the notes
I used to wear this in college, it was perfect for me at the time and I've emptied 2 bottles, now onto bottle n.3 and it will be my last one, I barely use it now, but when I remember to use it, it's always in early warm autumn😊Now I've worn it for two days in a row and she will be well used this september, I've simply outgrown this scent but smelling it brings me back into simpler times🍯🫚
