Artisan Pure

I have Neptune's trident so I got this out of curiosity to wear more regularly and I was impressed by this cheaper alternative. I would say 75% similar. NT is far more refined and lasts significantly longer with less application. That said the value you're getting with this one is unmatched. One of my favorite summer EDTs that won't offend anyone.

Picked this up for 25 bucks. First impressions were that this smells super citrusy and just like being at the beach. Beautiful bottle and great scent however it’s a JV so the performance is pretty horrible

I got this several months ago and just didn't like it. Tried it twice and put it away. Smelled rindy and synthetic to me. Now I love it. Not sure if the scent changed or I just perceive it differently but it's such a clean fresh citrus scent. I have a lot of fragrances and none of them smell like this at all. Glad I gave it another chance. Will be wearing this as my daytime fragrance for the rest of the summer. I need to spray this on thick. Atomizer doesn't put out a lot of juice also. It seems that this smell is a skin scent 3 hours in yet I passed someone about 6 hours in and he knew I was wearing. I think I might be a little nose blind to this.

Oh, I love this. It’s so bright and citrus, but with a lot of depth from the combination of fruits and various spices that it doesn’t come off as one-note or loud.

John Varvatos Pure Artisan. I love this scent profile. Every time I wear this, I feel energized—mostly due to its beautiful blend of ginger and citrus. There’s an earthy moss in the background that balances it out nicely. It feels like a perfect summer scent—versatile, soothing, and mass-appealing. You can wear it in formal and casual settings, even to the gym. But sadly, the performance is awful. In heat, it barely survives—around 1 to 1.5 hours at best. After that, it becomes a skin scent. Clothes can carry it a bit longer. The sillage is intimate, not really projecting. Overall, it just vanishes in the heat. If you stay indoors or in AC, then you're okay. Ironically, it might perform better in fall or winter, or in night even though it's a daytime perfume. Even though it’s my favorite cheapie, it saddens me every time i put it on due to its poor performance.

I’m in love with this cheap banger. Clean, fresh, airy. If this had a LV label it would sell for 350 with imagination, in fact it shares aspects of imagination. Imagination is an all time favorite for me and this competes with it. I blind bought this based on a Kevin Samuels review from a while back, and I trust his nose, owning a few of the ones he would preach about, RIP. Anyways, this is the definition of a dumb reach. This scent would prosper 60° F and above, and preferably with the sun out. This smells just like being at a Mexico or Dominican Republic all inclusive beach resort, while wearing sunscreen. Fragrances like this remind me that good juice is cheap, the label, brand, and exclusivity are what you pay big bucks for.

I awaited a lot according to reviews but for me very weak fragrance that resembles citronella and some citrus cleaning products. Zesty with no other tones to be found. Dissapointed

This is funny fragrance for me because my wife goes bonkers when I wear it but I don’t typically like this style. Artisan Pure is a dry, almost parched neroli and cedar fragrance. And it does that act extremely well when you consider the price. The cedar base is what sets this apart from most rivals. I own Xerjoff’s Renaissance and AP has a better cedar note than the Xerjoff. AP is an evocative fragrance that makes me think of route 1 along the California coast with the sun baking the cedar tress and herbs of the gardens. Once we get into the 90’s I pretty much wear this daily and though this style is not my favorite, it gives me pleasure to know my wife loves it.

Nothing heavy here. Lots of florals and salty woods. I have a 4 year macerated bottle. 4 Hours projection although i have heard of people getting 8.

Orange that gets soapy as it progresses, herbal thyme in the open. Heart is ginger and petitgrain. Base is sweet, powdery musky woods. It was a mess of a fragrance when I got it 3 months ago, took about a month to where I thought it was wearable, and another month before I wanted to wear it. Even designer frags at this point are requiring maturation; give them time and try to not make snap judgements.

This is such a solid fragrance. Super fresh and clean citrus. Very blind buy safe. Very linear but it does its job well. It is quite weak though, 12-15 sprays on average and I finished my bottle in a single summer, I certainly miss this scent and will buy it again soon. Overall 8.5/10 (Just wish it lasted longer)

I love this fragrance and it’s perfect for summer! It has a refreshing feeling made to be worn out in the sun. I picture myself at the beach in a loose, white, airy button-up shirt. The clean citrus and musk are just wonderful. The only thing is, it doesn’t last very long on me. I’m always having to reapply or spray it on my clothes, which seems to help make it last a bit longer.

I’m really impressed! This is not what I think of as a citrus scent, it’s more herbal aromatic to me. I actually tried it to take the piss, thinking it would be generic and pungent. Sniffed the nozzle and said “I’m buying this. I can Afterpay $60 no problem”. Put it on this morning and I’m loving it! I expected an Issey Miyake knock off, but I got something I’ve never encountered before. Well done JV

This is a classic citrusy/spicy/white musk fragrance for men that has a high quality smell relative to the price it can purchased for! Performance remains a 10/10 for me especially during high and humid temperatures. Artisan Pure can easily be a adult guys summer time daily wear! 10/10

Smells like a high quality bar of soap, very clean citrusy in the vein of fragrances like neroli portofino or dolce Gabbana pour homme, maybe even ck all, very pleasant, has a Mediterranean or tuscan vibe to it. It is weak unfortunately but most varvatos frags suffer from this ailment, though overspraying on clothes should help with that. If found at discounters or plenty below retail, it is easily recommendable. Scent: 7.5/10 Longevity and projection: 5/10 Personal score: 8/10

Smells like a scented Clorox or Lysol toilet cleaner with bleach and fragrance. I’ve never smells a more abrasive overdose of pure Ambroxan before. It literally burns my nose.

If you spray a generous amount of this perfume on your clothes 20 minutes before going out, it will smell nice all day long.

complaining about longevity like it isn’t an EDT 😭 this is one of the greatest summer fragrances of all time. smells like waking up in a beach front house, walking out onto the porch and sipping some OJ

I scored a 2.5 Oz bottle for $25. It smells like a $150+ fragrance. While the smell is great, performance is pretty terrible. I doused myself in it and 3 hours later it’s almost gone. That being said, I still give it 8/10.

It’s a wonderful non synthetic smelling fragrance where each note is very realistic. I would go far to say it has niche qualities but the performance on me is awful. With 10 sprays I get about 2-3 hrs and that’s only because I spray into my clothes. If you get it at a discounter it’s worth buying but don’t expect much for longevity.

Nice fresh citrus cologne, the problem with this one is imho the lack of a heart, many top notes incl. a brutal overdose of petitgrain then a soft woody base. Similar to TOUS man cologne, but that one is more aromatic and better balanced. A missed opportunity not using florals in the mid and letting ginger do the mid transition. Performance is intimate and 2-3h longevity on skin. I can't see when I'd rather use this over any of my other citrus summer scents. Points for smelling natural (you can sense there's a good amount of EO's here) so big on realism but too much petitgrain ruins this for me.

Opens with a bad mix of citruses that ends up smelling like dish soap. As it evolves it becomes slightly more bitter and beautifully aromatic, powdery... and unfortunately very faint, right when it was looking like it'd become interesting. Sad I'd say it would be perfect for summer days, but seeing how it behave while sitting at my desk without sweating i cannot imagine how short lived it would be if worn outside sweating buckets

As w many JV frags, amazing scents w poor performance. Re spray every 3/4 hrs or good for an event. Dry down smells like a photo realistic fresh laundered crisp white pressed T shirt. Easy office frag. DUA makes a great clone that's MUCH stronger

The performance isn't that bad. It is 10pm and I applied around 5.30pm I can still smell it quite strongly on my arms. I do over spray with this one becasue it is that kind of scent. Spray your clothes also. I actually am enjoying this wear. Have not worn since last summer and we are having a bit of a muggy spell. This is really nice in warm weather.

This stuff is amazing! I have a lot of fragrances - designers as well as niche but none of the captivated me like this one. Its not groundbreaking but immediately upon smelling it, it took me to a nostalgic place and gave me an unimaginable comfort. i love it but sadly after and hour i couldnt smell it anymore. My friend said he smells it but i couldnt and it also has a weak projection. If you planning to buy, dont hesitate but you have to like citrusbecause this is a citrus bomb. 9/10 for me - it would be a complete 10 if longevity was up to par.

I’ve never smelled Tom Ford neroli portofino but I doubt this smells like it. It’s a meeeeh smell, ive smelled similar colognes to this one before and lets put it this way they’re just ok, not something I would wear daily. I always blind buy so this one caught me off guard expecting something better, I’m not an expert but it smells something like Perri Ellis 360 red or Aqua Di Gio, not exactly but in that range of scents like fresh citrusy. For some people it might be a love it for other it might be a meeeeh (just another citrusy cologne) if you already own citrusy ones.

@SupermanEcstasy It performs great , stiop being 3 years old.This performance thing should stop.Fragrances are made to make as smell could for people around us .Because you wear it your fckin system sends signals to your brain saying "jesus christ what the hell is this i should stop smelling it all time" and it makes you stop smelling the perfume.Is it clear or you need to get brainwashed by the stupid influencers?

Even if you have a billion dollars in your bank, you should not buy this out of principle for their terrible performance.

I got both the original Artisan and Artisan Pure in order to compare them. Scent-wise, I loved both. The citrusy notes are absolutely off the charts. There’s only a mild difference between the two. To my nose, the OG Artisan is slightly brighter and fresher, while Artisan Pure leans more into the soapy and powdery side. I preferred the original scent slightly more, but both genuinely amazed me. When it comes to projection, there are significant improvements. I sprayed the same amount of each fragrance, and the newer flanker definitely radiates more and lasts longer on my skin. The performance improved from weak to moderate, which is honestly very solid for a citrus fragrance, considering citrus molecules always try to leave the party early. Also, it’s impossible not to mention the bottle design. It’s a piece of art on its own. It feels luxurious and looks like a great gift. Nice scent that’s unique and hard to dislike — check, good packaging — check, affordable price — check. To me, the Artisan line represents niche-quality perfumery with an affordable price tag. Overall, it’s a big step up from the original version. John Varvatos did a great job improving the flaws of the OG Artisan.

The smell is good, but,,, The poformence is so bad that nearly nobody include myselg could smell that in a spring day with 5-6 sparys. Use it in summer, when temperature at least 25-30 Celsuis
