having read quite a lot of comments I can agree with almost all of the content (plus the positive ones about the perfume itself). I do have a bottle from 2006 and having finally liberated the 'Jus' out of its Cloysters it strikes me how delicate and refined this Fragrance is. it is predominantly a Magnolia perfume of which Francis Kurkdjian knew how to behold its ephemeral character. I smell the Magnolia, Jasmine, especially the Trumpeting 'Ting' of the Lily-of-the-Valley. (here come the Clarions of the Woods ... ) while the distinctively present (White) Rose presents a Velours Chamber of Affairs for all the Flowers to expand themselves. what they then write about the Orange Blossom I do not understand at all: "and a synthetic orange, the scent of which brings to mind orange blossom". let us summarize it as 'Orange Blossom, used in the perfume'. the Plum, Patchouli & Amber add Body and Denseness to this rather Sophisticated Scent. what other people said about the White Musk (odd by-scents, offputting scents) never goes for me bc I am anosmic towards Synthetic, White Musks. probably I can smell their effect on the other notes (filling them out, offering a fixative). the Plum is a Fruit I can always smell and it adds a wonderful fullness to the already Voluptuous Bouquet. then how had I to liberate the perfume out of its Penitentiary Institution ? as you see the bottle above: all the nicely coloured Metal Bits were blackened and I hadn't used the perfume in, say, ten years. this was not out of Malheur, but bc I simply have too many bottles and then some stay closed. but I had worn this perfume and I remembered it being one of the perfumes I loved much. the bottle was unrecognizably worsened and was stuck. all the metal (Brass ? I even thought it was made of Copper !) was heavily torsioned into a Screw like on a Ships Wharf. so I WROUGHT it open. then I still had to disperse of the nice, nicety, Bow which was almost Moulded. then beneath that was a kind of Rubbery, Acryloid Film which had to be cut off with small scissors. the Atomizer already would let loose (and fall on the ground) only it you looked at it. I had to decorrogate the Atomizer (and its Base) with Nail Polish Remover. so the first blast was not only Alcoholic, but mixed with Aceton. eeeew. the Cap I threw away with much satisfaction. keeping spritzing I finally smelled this très fin Parfum. now I only had to give it a new cap. I had one which was a Black, Elongated Cap and it Updated the new Bottle into a fine, handsome flacon. the quirky bottle was in line with the thèn Creative Director of Lanvin, the unforgotten Alber Elbaz. a shy, genius fasion designer who really revitalized Lanvin for (say) eight [14] years. "Alber Elbaz (12 June 1961 – 24 April 2021) was an Israeli fashion designer. He was the creative director of Lanvin in Paris from 2001 until 2015, after having done stints at a number of other fashion houses, including Geoffrey Beene, Guy Laroche, and Yves Saint Laurent." he was the Nice and Sweet fashion designer. good to commemorate him in giving a review of the Lanvin Perfume Rumeur 2006.

So romantic magnolia

This is a difficult one. I cannot say it will be one that I’d easily reach for. As many have mentioned, at first spritz there is a there is an extremely harsh blast of alcohol that smells exactly like hairspray, which is completely off putting for me. The dry down after a few minutes is actually quite elegant and pretty, I can detect Jasmine and I think Magnolia? It smells like a white flower garden in the summer sun but is fleeting and to my nose fades into a nothingness within an hour. I may be anosmic to the musk; I don’t get any, perhaps because my nostrils have singed with the astringent alcohol opening. Overall, minus the ephemeral pretty floral dance in the middle, I get a rather cold and stark feel when I feel this perfume. It’s wildly unbalanced to my nose also, although there is a spark of elegance in the middle where I can almost grasp the beauty of a signature French chypre.

*Pungent* opening. It took me a couple weeks to place it, but it smells exactly like the creeping odor of molding citrus peels. The drydown is nice.

The magnolia note is dominant, which might explain why this perfume is fairly polarizing (I think Turin and Sanchez hated it, for instance). I live in a region with many different species of magnolia trees, and I'm very familiar with the fragrance--there was an enormous saucer magnolia right outside my bedroom window when I was between the ages of five and eighteen--but a big part of the glory of the magnolia is visual appeal. The fragrance has a piercing, plangent, citrussy quality, more tart than sweet. It is intoxicating in the context of the blossom, but is the scent in itself captivating, the way the fragrance of a rose or an iris is? I'm not so sure about that. I wonder, too, whether I just don't like Francis Kurkdjian's characteristic profiles much. I think he chooses certain musks that irritate me when I'm not anosmic to them. As with the Narciso and SJP scents of his that I have worn, I discern a slightly dirty note that I think is the patchouli (I don't hate patch always; I'm just picky about them). As I recall, I bought this perfume for a song, and the bottle is very cool. I do think Rumeur compares very favorably to Estee Lauder Beautiful Belle Magnolia--much less expensive, similar magnolia-forward juice, much worse bottle. Personally, though, as much as I adore magnolias, I would rather smell like any number of other flowers. I should also add that I have what may well be a mediocre (or worse) reformulation. I never smelled Rumeur 20 years ago, when it came out.

Very strong and a bit masculine. Lilly of the valley most pronounced in the beginning but plum in the dry-down. Update: I sprayed this on a jacket and left it on my computer chair and I can still feel it... more than a week has passed, almost 2. A true beast. Now jasmine is most pronounced.

Wish the patchouli wasn’t so strong. I’d love it otherwise.

I blind bought Rumeur, and the moment I smelled it, I was instantly reminded of MFK Amyris—and now I just learned that Francis Kurkdjian is the nose behind it! It all makes sense now. :) Overall, I’m happy with this perfume. I never have enough lighter, spring-summer scents as I normally go for much heavier fragrances. Yet, beneath its sparkling opening, it still carries a hidden warmth and creaminess, which I love.

i wrote another review here before, but i wasn't satisfied with it because my opinion changed on the fragrance upon owning it for a little longer. i love how strong this is! it's initially a heady floral that develops into a crisp, grassy scent similar to what one would get upon mashing flower petals with a mortar and pestle. then, upon keeping it on for longer, it settles as pretty straightforward, lightly earthy musk. it has very good longevity and it's effortlessly elegant and vibrant, i can really see myself stepping in the dewy grass of a field watching the clouds undulate and collide, anticipating the chaotic and serendipitous surprises of spring weather, the one thing holding me down being the relentless aroma of the flowers surrounding me everywhere, knowing they will never quite leave me.

I don’t think I’ll ever be without a bottle of Rumeur- my new signature scent! Purchased Rumeur several years ago as a blind buy and never even gave it a chance. The bottle leaked during shipping, and the smell was so overwhelming that it made me feel sick. I threw it straight in the garbage. Now I know that was a mistake! After searching and searching for the perfect soapy floral, I came across this once again and decided to give it a proper try- it’s absolutely beautiful! This is definitely a strong fragrance. For me 2-3 sprays is the most I can do. The magnolia and aldehydes are quite sharp at first but I actually enjoy it a lot. After about 10 minutes, it calms down to a more delicate complex, cold soapy scent. It’s definitely not a sweet or warm fragrance- it’s just very feminine and flowery clean. Some people compare this to Narciso Rodriguez for her. I can see why the comparison is made, but I feel they are actually quite different. To me, NRFH comes across as slightly sweeter, more perfumey (in a cheaper body spray sort of way), with a much hazier musk. Rumeur feels more sharp, soapy and flowery. However, I do think that if you like NRFH, you will probably like Rumeur as well!

I am anosmic to this one. I only can smell the musky dry down, which lasts forever.

I think this is beautiful. I used to wear it so much years ago, then the big bottle ran out and I never repurchased until recently. I sprayed from my new bottle and was so thankful that smells just as beautiful. This is white taffeta, so clean and crisp... It cuts through the heat and humidity of summer - ultra clean, unique, and feminine.

This can pass as Narciso Rodriguez for her line. It's fresh, clean, mild, musky and powdery white florals 🤍. I bought this as I got curious of its name plus the nose behind this is Francis Kurkdijian. I thought it would smell old because of the antique bottle and cap design, but I was wrong! I describe it as edgy and dainty fragrance combined. Drydown is beautiful, sexy and smells expensive. I love it!

I have purchased it blind and the rumors are true, this is a DANGEROUS blind buy!! But I was confident, because I have used NR for her in the past and I liked it. The musk here is even heavier than in NR. If you know that NR musk is screechy for you, stay away from this as well. I can see why people saying it is not well balanced. The magnolia note at the top stands out from the composition and there is a big burst of warm freshness at the base. But after dry down it becomes more powdery on my skin. I suppose it would smell better in the air than smelling up close, but I need to test it further among people to see reactions. I like it very much so far, testing it for two days now, also slept in it and it was very pleasant, still could smell it in the morning. The only thing I don't really like is the packaging with this metal cap that doesn't really fit to the bottle and leaves a metallic smell on my fingers. The atomizer is also not very refined, it doesn't give you a good smooth mist, it rather spits😅. I find this scent to be interesting and unique. Also a little bit addictive for some reason. It's a 7/10 for now and I will see how it develops on me. It also may need some maceration. Update one month later: It is beautiful, I love it so much! It has macerated and we grew together (we may grow old together). In this last month I just couldn't get enough of it. I smell only florals with a fresh lotion like, soapy base. No nail polish, no metallic tinge. Now it's a 9/10 for me. It makes me feel elegant and sophisticated. 2025 - oh it is spring time and I miss you! I will need another bottle of you and soak into your magnificent magnolia note.

Beautiful clean musk and soapy magnolia blended the way only Francis Kurkdjian can. Great bang for your buck too as it's pretty inexpensive, yet it manages to smell expensive. Perfect Springtime scent and an easy reach for magnolia and white floral fans. I particularly love it for its soapy element. Reminds me slightly of 1980s Joie de Vivre by Lentheric (80's soap heaven). Easy reach for any occasion. Longevity and silage are moderate. The bottle and atomiser are good quality.

I’m never the one to exaggerate about a perfume….never but unfortunately this one literally makes me gag I had such high hopes for this! it smells like an old fragrance that went bad .. I never like to use the term elderly or old women as I think those are an offensive ways to describe a perfume but…….i couldn’t even make it pass the opening before scrubbing it off I was hoping to get like a white bar soap vibes like jlo glow but it’s the

Unfortunately it is too weak in sillage and longevity to be able to catch it long enough to describe...just a fleeting cloud of something potentially delicious. A pity!

Sweet and pretty, and possibly the only fragrance I have that features magnolia--a flower I adore--as a prominent note. The bottle is gorgeous, too--very elegant, especially considering how inexpensive it was. So far, I have just done my standard back-of-the-hand test, and it has passed with flying colors. I love the thoughtful balance of sweet florals against the patchouli, musk, and amber. It doesn't smell quite as bracingly medicinal as some other Kurkdjian creations that I have sampled, but the balsamic notes and fresh-green pop of the muguet keep it from smelling overly sweet. It's definitely very feminine, but it's also playful and cool. I might update this once I wear it in my usual spray spots. Update: I'm really impressed by the realistic magnolia in the top note; I know this blossom well because I huff them at every opportunity in the springtime, and I live near a park with dozens of different varieties. I love the way Rumeur changes so much over time without ever losing its distinctive personality. This is an underrated Kurkdjian offering, and I couldn't be happier with the blind buy. I have a large bottle that should last me the rest of my life, thanks to its magical strength and endurance. I also appreciate that it's pretty and delicate but also somewhat unusual, unlike any other fragrances I have in my collection (although in some ways it does remind me a little bit of his Green Tea, which was probably the first FK scent I ever smelled).

This smells absolutely nothing like NRFH EDP on my skin; instead I get something like a blend of honey or jam and some type of plant-based resin or sap. As strange as it sounds, it’s actually pretty pleasant because it’s slightly sweet and herbal. The patchouli note is pretty strong, so I wouldn’t recommend this for patchouli haters. I suspect that it combined with the plum and magnolia is causing the jammy resin effect I get. It’s pretty long lasting, too; I got about ten hours of wear time with only a few sprays. I would mostly wear it during cooler weather, though, because it turns somewhat cloying pretty easily if with the wearer or the weather around them warms up.

Rumeur is just so pretty. If I had smelled it without knowing what it is, I may have guessed it was from the House of Gres, not because it particularly resembles any specific Gres scent, but it reminds me of the overall approach of their offerings. It is genteel but pervasive without being cloying or overwhelming. Understated and elegant. Magnolia is one of my very favorite notes - in Rumeur there is a little extra sweetness to it. The patchouli is so soft and unintrusive. I have come to really love this one, even the bottle. I smell it all day at work - I get at least 10 hours longevity and it really stays in my clothes. It would be hard to behave badly while wearing such a lovely perfume. It’s the kind of thing whose wonderful qualities reflect well on the wearer and make the person seem nicer and kinder than they might actually be. I get called Sweetheart and Honey by strangers when I wear it - let me get that door Sweetheart, thank you Honey, etc. Rumeur could possibly make the world a better place.

I stopped liking this one. To be fair I strongly dislike Lovely or NR

The initial blast is light sparkling white florals, almost reminiscent of classic 90's perfumes. On me that stays for approx 1.5 hours, where it then progressively turns into a Narciso Rodriguez for Her EDP dupe. I am not surprised at all as both are creations by Francis Kurkdjian, and I find that some of his scents tend to be quite similar across houses (e.g. BKR 540 and Burberry Her). Since NR EDP is my signature scent, I absolutely adore this! It's a great option for Spring Summer, as the opening is more floral. It' also about half the price of NR. Total hidden gem category and a high quality affordable fragrance.

I don't love this one, .... yet! When I first sprayed this perfume, I smelt flowers and something like vinegar, maybe even metal. Yes, ... metal! I don't really know what note causes this distinct smell, maybe it's the patchouli. After a few hours this metallic smell does die down a bit and it leaves room for a beautiful floral fragrance and a musky undertone. It's really not a generic scent, it does smell pretty unique to me. And let me tell you, this beauty lasts! Even after a few hours, it is still as strong as the initial spray. I don't really love love this, but i kinda like love this. I definitely see this scent growing on me. For now, I will return this, but I definitely will revisit this in the future when my taste has refined. 😊

RL looks and smells vintage especially in the opening. It starts with strong aldehydes and magnolia, but it settles quite quickly to a lush floral heart. To my nose the rose is most prominent but there is also a nectary kind of sweetness or like the smell of citrus-based honey. The base, however, feels more modern as it softens a lot (after about 4-5 hours). At this stage it smells like a creamy rosy musk with perceptible, but not overwhelming, patchouli. I agree it smells similar to NR or Idylle but only at this late stage. RL takes you on a perfume time traveling trip. Starting with something similar to a 40s or 50s perfume (sans the civet and moss), moving to a lush floral reminiscent of the 70s and 80s and ends with a modern millennial floral-woody-musk. All within a scope 7-8 hours. Bravo Monsieur Kurkdjian.

Ahhh I don’t love this. It’s too masculine for my taste, too sharp. It’s probably the musk with the patchouli; makes it overal too sharp. I wanted to love this though. It reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez’s perfume verry much. There is a difference but I can not pinpoint it.

Another blind buy 🙈 I knew I could trust FK❤️ I love this scent, if patchouli doesn't bother you (my skin really doesn't project it, so I don't mind it, although I'd love to be able to sniff the 'earthy' note), please grab this gem This is a floral scent for all occasions, so, so good. It's not sweet, at least not on my skin

First introduced to this in 2008 when my Aunty would send me parcels filled with lingerie, clothing, make up bags filled to the brim with skincare samples and 2ml vials of perfume. She would then spritz generously this fragrance over the items and seal the opening of the box with a white fluffy towel. She’d do this every time when sending parcels. Like a ritual. I always associate this with that experience - a luxurious bath, fluffy Egyptian towels, silk bathrobe, finished-doing-my-skincare and moisturised my body and applying my mauve powder blush and light scented lipstick from my cosmetics bag-vibe. Wearing my silk lacey lingerie. I think of the colour nude and its connotations. Clean soapy floral -smelt amazing when sprayed on clothing and would grab attention everywhere I stepped. I wore this as a teen for years, so this has a special spot in my olfactory book of memories. Would love to purchase a bottle now but I’m sure it’s been reformulated again.. this was a true Kurkdjian masterpiece.
