I was really intrigued by the prospect of fig and bay leaf notes but all I could smell was an old person whose sweat faintly smells of the black tea they have been drinking all day. So this one really wasn't for me.

6 years ago I reviewed this as Chergui and Pulp's lovechild...still very accurate! Pulpy figgy and touches of herbal but more sweet than anything. Juicy fruit, not too sweet but definitely ripe. Still no tobacco, still loving this one. As a sample, not full bottle for me.

Honestly I can’t smell the fig or half the notes listed here, but I can definitely smell the black rose mentioned by the brand. To me it smells like a very strong black tea, with ice and a bouquet of dewy black roses on the side. It’s nothing like anything I usually like (I tend to like ultra feminin, sweet fragrances) but this is one of my favourites perfumes and is becoming my signature I love it all year round: It's perfect when it's very hot outside, but also when it's raining and you want to be home with a cup of tea or a glass of wine. The only con is the price, but I found a very similar equivalence (similar parfum Libano 04, in Spain)

10/10 i need a full bottle

The musk note or whatever le labo uses as fixative is genuinely so irritating to me on my skin …. I like it but it gives me a migraine about 75% of the time . Really nice dry down but synthetic and cloying when you first spray.

Анонім★★★★★

To me it opens quite boozy almost like bourbon and then settles into a fresh deep sweetness of tea and florals

Анонім★★★★★

To me, this smells like red wine next to a flowering magnolia tree. It is sweet and strong but also classic and elegant.

Анонім★★★★★

It is a sophisticated and addictive interpretation of black tea, blending freshness, darkness, and sensual warmth. It opens with bright bergamot and fig, followed by a rich heart of black tea, bay leaf, and cedar, before settling into a smooth base of musk, vetiver, and woody notes. What makes it exceptional is its balance between contrasts: the freshness of tea leaves, the sweetness of fig, and the depth of woods create a fragrance that feels both elegant and mysterious. It has a refined, slightly smoky character that is comforting yet effortlessly chic. Unlike many tea fragrances that remain light and airy, Thé Noir 29 has real depth and personality. It feels intimate but memorable, making it suitable year-round, especially for moments when you want something sophisticated and distinctive.

smells like Marceline's house in Adventure Time

Though several Le Labo scents smell very similar to me!? Either way, Im addicted...

I don't believe in signature scents but when I first smelled this one I understood what people meant when they say a fragrance "smells like me." People who don't smell tea: do you not drink tea? The second I sprayed this I was like yep that is a bag of loose leaf black tea. It's the only thing I could smell for the first 15 minutes. After that, the fig takes over with it's creaminess. Finally, the tobacco and sweet notes come out and stay for the dry down. I distinctly smell tea, fig, and tobacco. The rest of the stuff is probably there by degrees, but those are what stand out to me. Best blind buy of my life (still don't recommend doing that 0:D )

Анонім★★★★★

Okay, I mean… that dry down though… REALLY good.

Анонім★★★★★

One of the better scents. Woody but fresh and clean. Too expensive for what it is. Smell before you purchase. But a solid blind buy safe scent. 7/10

the "what people say" references strong tea note that may be overpowering for some yet there is no black tea note in it. It does say inspired by black tea, but that doesn't necessarily mean there is any black tea in it, or is there. I don't know.

Probably the best Le Labo in my opinion. Swings above its ballpark in terms of complexity. Reminds me of OJ Montabaco but a bit heavier and with fig, surprised that isn't listed in the comparisons section. Good performance, especially compared to a lot of its contemporaries. Might need time to age as Le Labo is made to order. Definitely masculine leaning by the way, calling this unisex is kind of misleading and I can see some dislike in other reviews stemming from that.

Wow! This is very good and surprising. I have very little experience with Le labo, and I was walking through the airport and just sprayed a couple random ones. The noir was one, and it’s very pretty. It’s a sweet, clean, and musky almost jam-like fig with some nicely blended green notes. Soooo smooth and very pretty scent. The he bay lcolor af in here smells a little like pizza sauce but in a good way

It's a good scent, but it seems Le Labo DNA is all build on forests. Noir 29, obviously Santal, Matcha, and Rose all just smell like very mature and woody colognes to me. Different of course, but I couldn't imagine smelling any of them on other peers in college, or can even envision an undergrad guy who has the aura and visuals to pull these off. My honest opinion is if you're younger, stay away. I will say all the Le Labo's I tried smell masterful. You can tell a lot of work when into crafting them, and they seriously smell like passion projects unlike most designers.

Timeless masterpiece specially for those who love the deep and warm creamy fig note. Unique and complement getter in office and cosy night gatherings. Good for any season. Indoor night activities. Not for summer sun or partying. Everything in this perfume is calm, peaceful, and trustworthy. Good for dates also. When my first bottle reach the half, I got panicked and got another one! 10/10

I tried this in a discovery kit from Le Labo’s website. The dry down is nice, but the bay leaf opening is too overwhelming for me. Not a safe blind buy.

Анонім★★★★★

This is both syrup-y and forest-y. Shortly after I put it on for the first time, I forgot I was wearing it, and once I realized that I made a mental note that it didn't 'wow' me. In the opening it smells faintly like sake, then like photorealistic flowers, then only like rose. After a while, the woodiness comes through. It's a pretty smell, but too literal?

Анонім★★★★★

I find this distasteful - putting a tester on my wrist at home a few times and each time, I just can't love it. Or like it much, really. Something sharp or screetchy about it when it hits my nose. Glad I only bought a tiny tester of it. Might give it one more try later but... not a safe blind buy. Definitely get a tester.

This is super masculine. Cannot pick up fig or tea, but rather mint, tobacco, vetiver and cedar. It smells like a guy wearing a black leather jacket that went outside to smoke in the cold. On his way back to the table, he sprayed a generic good quality cologne and chewed some mint gun to disguise the cigar.

Анонім★★★★★

Not a tea scent at all, rather the fig and hay note combined with le labo DNA turn into a cat piss in cold weather and period blood smell in summer.

Анонім★★★★★

EEYUCK!!! This is a very dark scent and I don't get tea AT ALL. To my nose I get a soiled smelly shirt of a farmer that smokes 2pks a day, hits on younger women, and uses cheap mature very woody green mens cologne. 'The Noir' is not for everyone but those who get it, get it. And that's sure as hell ain't me🙂↔️

Анонім★★★★★

I can’t believe no one mentions how this smells so minty or that mint isnt even a note. Smells like mouthwash/toothpaste to me.

Анонім★★★★★

Smooth, complex, green. Lord do I love this. I don't really get tea at all. It's woody, musky, citrusy with just a touch of sweet. Best Le Labo IMO.

Анонім★★★★★

sweet, dry tea leaves honestly this was kinda boring nice cozy scent but nothing special lacks complexity which makes me wonder what is so special about this 'niche' thingy might be overhyped

Анонім★★★★★

I have a very weird relationship with Le labo, because they have good smelling perfums but lacking of complexity, projection and personality. I will start saying that this smells like Kilian Straight to heaven. A very special perfum without any longevity. But with the le labo DNA similar to other Le labos. Is skin scent. Lasts around 4hrs or so... Nice, normal, nothing wow.

Анонім★★★★★

Been wearing this for over a year now and my views haven't changed from my previous review. One of the most exquisite smoky, darker, grassy scents I've ever encountered. Beneath the initial smokiness, you have this elegant woody, grassy tone from the cedar and dried hay that rounds out the body of Noir 29. The dry down is what I truly love about this scent and the way it lingers on the collar of your jacket a day or two later is what keeps drawing me back. It becomes softer yet more addicting scent than the opening. A lot of fragrances I tried lose their magic once the novelty wears off. Noir 29 did the opposite for me. The more I wore it, the more I appreciated it. More than a year later, it remains one of the few fragrances I can put on without a second thought. Longevity 8.5/10 Projection 8/10 Scent 9/10
