cant go wrong with this fresh fragrance
i bought this in the winter on sale and thought it was okay, now that it's summer I'm in love with it. It starts as salty sea forward but on me the dry-down is bright warm cedar with a touch of floral. I'm obsessed right now!!
Its a great aquatic fragrance i really enjoy it in the summer the fragrance it self is amazing but for the price i would recomend something cheaper.
I was given this as a gift in spring, and I've sprayed it a few times since in different weather, from a day indoors to a walk around downtown, and I have enough time with it to finally say my thoughts. The scent itself is lovely. Spot on for a fresh, summery vibe. The scent itself I have no issue with. What I take issue with is that, for the price, the longevity isn't there. When the longevity and the price are imbalanced like this, it makes me wonder what you're paying for. The bottle? To say you own one of this brand? That's not enough. I have a Issey Miyake with similar notes, perfect ocean vibe, that actually lasts more than 2 hours. I don't see the justification here. And not only does it only last 2 hours, but it sits intimately. The only way I can enjoy the sent is by planting my nose in my wrist. That's not ok. This is your hard earned cash. Put it where you can actually experience the perfume.
As a girl i liked this, its definitely not a stand out scent its more like you just showered with a nice shower gel and u still smell like it type of scent
This smells like an aquatic themed bubble bath, but not in a bad way! It’s like the bubble bath that would come with your complimentary amenities while staying at a luxurious costal resort. A place where the skies are always grey and the mornings are misty, and the sound of chilly waves crashing seems to follow wherever you go. I felt calmed and refreshed all at once upon smelling it. May have to keep in my car like our great grandmothers carried smelling salts
At first I absolutely hated it. It smells really clean, but unfortunately it just keeps reminding me of cleaning products. I could only see myself wearing this if I'm somewhere near a shore. Other than that, personally wouldn't buy a full bottle.
Salty aldehydes with a hint of ambergris and juniper. Clean, salty, soapy, slightly green, slightly powdery and slightly fresh spicy. Average sillage and longevity. Cleaning products energy. More like Bath day.
smells exactly like irish spring soap. it's almost impressive how little it reminds me of sailing. if i were being charitable i'd say that maybe the irish spring scent is based on sailing, and i'm just not in tune with it because of repeated exposure to the soap but not to sailing. maybe i could smell this on a boat if i were hanging out inside the boat's kitchen with a bar of cheap men's soap and a box cutter, trying my hand at soap carving and failing badly. maybe i'm on a really long boat ride and got bored enough to do that. crucially, i'm inside the boat's kitchen with the doors closed; not exposed to the sea air in any way, and there's probably also no windows. i suck at soap carving so the soap dust is getting in my nose and making me want to sneeze.
While an interesting experiment in combining notes, this still leans too heavily masculine for me. Too many woods with amber. Not pretty, only slightly evocative of the water but slightly fishy, and nothing I would want to wear. I'm giving up on Maison Martin Margiela for women's scents.
I started off absolutely loving it. I meant to buy a 100ml bottle so I would finally have a non citric aquatic that I can wear throughout summer. I was in love with the scent. The opening transposes you onto a boat. You can smell the breeze of the ocean: airy, salty. It's great. However, on my skin, as it dries down from the opening (30 mins) it turns into a strong detergent smell. Not a pleasant, cozy, cotton-y detergent smell like the one present in Lazy Sunday Afternoon. Instead of the scent of freshly washed fabric, it just has the smell of the detergent used to wash said fabric. The way the notes mix as it dries down removes the slight saltyness and marine smell. So it ends up being a miss for me.
I find myself reaching for this one a lot this summer. Fresh and clean without smelling like cleaning supplies!
This is a really unique aquatic scent! It's super salty, and I get something metallic from it. I could see a hot old guy wearing this; it's fresh and kind of wild all at the same time.
I can't quite understand this fragrance. I have smelled this before and it's just "okay". But when my wife wears it, it drives me wild. It smells good but on my wife, it's something else.
really pretty marine scent, but the longevity is so poor :/ overall rating: 🩷🩷🩷🖤🖤 3/5
I like that it isn't coconut-y, it's the closest I have found to smell like Sea salt water but there is also a forest smell to it. It's fresh but on me settles down to musty animalistic scent and fresh laundry.
Feel like a natural "fresh" scent. It duplicates perfectly the smell of the beach. Performance is good for this type of perfume. Safe blind buy. Nothing special but I really like it.
There's something here that is quite off-putting to my nose. It's somewhere between being fish and bleach like, almost like someone has grabbed a bucket of cleaner to scrub the deck of a boat with but the bucket previously had fish inside it maybe. It probably didn't help that I had this on one wrist and Issey Miyake Le Sel D'Issey EDT on the other when looking for a decent summer time aquatic. In this instance there was only one winner and it wasn't Sailing Day I'm afraid! Whatever it is that I picked up, lasts pretty much the whole time this fragrance is detectable, from the top through to the dry down. I can see why this scores <4 on here and to be honest, I think 3.74 is kind, my personal vote would be 2/5.
Got a decant size of this. I love it! On first spray I could instantly smell the aquatics in it. As time went on I got more of a fresh and clean soap smell which I love. It is not cloying at all and is very light and airy. A great scent to use on a warm summer day with the wind slightly blowing! Almost up there with Melody of the Sun for me! I just wish it lasted longer! 9/10
I love this fragrance. THIS has been my favorite Replica so far! (used to be Under the Lemon Tree). Sailing Day paints such a clear picture, and it tells a story, simple but effective; On the opening you get an almost realistic artificial wood accord, like if you were smelling recently barnished banisters, almost like you were at the port. There's definitely an aquatic/marine note in the beginning, what you get is pure freshness after all, but the wood is what has me so in love (I always say I hate wood in fragrances and this just made me change my mind). It's a saling day after all, so it's only natural to actually sail, leaving the port and the wood behind (sadly) as it dries down, to be met with a very fresh and aquatic, almost salty and slightly spicy fragrance. It's not really all that complex, it's very light, you're not going to get Megamare off this, but if you're looking for something light that still tells a story, this is worth a shot. I will say, this is a bit more masculine than feminine, and it's a perfume I would loveee to smell on a male partner!! However, I still get a kick out of wearing it myself, to me it smells like freedom. What can I say? I love the sea 9/10
had a whiff and was instantly teleported by the sea! fresh and clean, beautiful fragrance
This is not a clean and airy aquatic scent. It’s quite heavy and is more masculine. Sadly it doesn’t smell good on my skin; it actually smells like fish to me and made me nauseous throughout the day.
Clean and salty but a bit too cologne-y for my liking. Nothing special
Nails the aquatic scent. Really feels like you're out sailing, blends nicely with the aromatics. Amazing fresh scent if you don't like citruses. However this could possibly be the worst performing fragrance of all time.
Tried in store and was disappointed lasted about 10 minutes on my skin and thought the scent as a whole was bland and boring . Won’t be purchasing
Sailing Day smells like a memory. Not a postcard version of the Mediterranean, but the real thing. You rented a sailboat with a few close friends somewhere in the Greek islands and set off toward Lipsi. The engine is off whenever possible because you would rather sail than motor. The sea is impossibly blue, the sun is relentless, and every day is measured by wind, distance, and the next sheltered bay. The crew stops for a swim. You slide your rented paddleboard into the water and spend the afternoon snorkeling, drifting, and floating between the boat and the shore. What Sailing Day captures is not the sea itself, but what remains afterwards. It smells like swimming clothes drying in the Mediterranean sun after hours in salty water. Like traces of SPF sunscreen lingering on warm skin. Like a damp sports towel spread across the deck. Everyone is covered in a fine layer of salt, slightly sticky from seawater and sun lotion. As evening arrives, you climb back aboard. Your swimsuit is almost dry but still carries yesterday’s salt. Tomorrow you will wear the same one again. There is no fresh water until the next port. This is not a glamorous yacht party fragrance. There are no champagne glasses, white linen shirts, or luxury marina vibes. Instead, Sailing Day captures the simple reality of a sailing adventure: salt-crusted swimwear, sun-warmed skin, sea spray, and the quiet anticipation of another day under sail waiting just beyond sunrise. For me, this fragrance smells less like the ocean itself and more like living on the ocean for a few days. Not for me at all, but very photorealistic of how a sailing day smells. I hate sailing though. If you love it- this one is for you!
Sea note, medium male perfume, may be similar to many popular scents and high possibility to wear the same fragrance as others
Clean and aquatic scent, nothing special. Wouldn't buy the bottle.
First of all, I had no idea this had rose in it. Me and rose are sworn enemies, like it is on sight. Thank god it is drowned out by every other note. Second, I can see why people wouldn’t like this. It doesn't lean into citrus like a lot of "beachy" or "water" scents. But as someone who was huffing pool cleaning chemicals and lived on a boat in the FL keys for most of my childhood, it is very nostalgic for me. It smells like a hot, sweaty day where you are hauling your ass out of the gulf of Mexico onto your boat and your swim trunks are sopping wet and clinging to your thighs while the salty sea breeze is making you cold and hitting your face and ugh there's seaweed hanging onto your skin FUCK and your parents are arguing but god all you want is a bologna sandwich and doritos. Maybe my brain cells are gone from chlorine and I'm an outlier for enjoying it, who knows.
I was reading reviews somewhere, and someone claimed this smelled “just like beach walk” which I love. I was tempted to blind buy. Thank god I didn’t. Not only does this not compare, it smells like a cheap generic candle that would be labeled “sea breeze” or something, or the little decorative soaps in the shape of seashells that are common at outdated beach houses. I also get cheap men’s cologne that others have said, too. it’s honestly headache inducing. I feel bad because I like most of the Replica frags, but this one is not it.
