I was really looking forward to testing it after reading notes. I really like Rose note in Lyric man. But nah, rose and pepper in this perfume are really really annoying and polarizing.

I originally purchased this scent in 2021, pre-reforumulation, on a whim from Superdrug—I still remember the cashier's nose wrinkling in disgust, companioned by a frankly unprofessional request that I opt for something more palatable instead. Smelling of dusty potpourri, sex-addled pepper, and wet rose decay, it soon became my signature clubbing scent. Long days spent toiling over a graduate thesis on religion were transfigured indistinguishably into longer nights pressed against sweaty strangers in London warehouses, and I'd stumble into the frigid bright of the morning and back to the library still reeking of a mixture of Toy Boy and whatever I'd been drinking too much of just to do it all over again. I would agree with a previous comment that this scent is for the brooding and the avoidant, but also the pretentious, for when you think you're the most complex-but-brilliant guy in the room owing to all that time spent pouring over esoteric texts, chainsmoking in the rain, and jacking off. It was a peculiar phase of my life, and I'm certainly not as cool or intelligent as Toy Boy made me think I was, not by a mile. But if you want to feel that way, it can get you there. This is a scent for the loneliest person in the club. Others can intuit your off vibe. It's dark, fetid, and stinks of cheap sex in someone else's bed, but you aren't getting laid; you're below that. You're perched on a damp street corner, morose, contemplative, and blissfully unaware of just how bad things would get. I'm reformed now, but Toy Boy is an eternal favorite. 9/10.

Wouldn't recommend blind bying this, this is natural-smelling, airy, earthy rose with spices and resins, fruity from pear in the opening, woody and resinous in the dry down, rose and spices last throughout the scent. To me this is lovely, to some this is terrible, you either love it or hate it, it just has a very specific personality. Performance is good. If you get the chance, best try on skin.

super masculine pepper, didnt like at first but the more i use it the more i like it. Pretty interesting fragrance doesnt have too noticeable rose imo

Анонім

This gave me hella headaches and nausea

Анонім

To me, this is genuinely unisex. It leans masculine, but it smells nothing like a typical men’s cologne. I see it more as a nature scent in a bottle, earthy and watery, but not watered down. I wear it as a feminine woman who mostly wears long, flowery dresses, and it doesn't feel out of place. It smells like a spruce tree covered in fresh young shoots, or a walk through a coniferous forest in the morning while everything is still damp with dew. When I saw the official notes, I was surprised that no coniferous trees were listed. I do not find the rose dominant. To my nose the pink pepper is what comes through the most.

Smells like a dipping sauce. If this fragrance had a best friend, it would be Encre Noir, and they would only hang out at night. Also, they would have little vials of each other's blood in necklaces like Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton back in the day. If I could choose between smelling this and sweaty feet, I would choose this 70% of the time.

Анонім

Reformulated to death at this price I would get on a discounter and get la fille de berlin by serge lutens which is light years a better rose

Анонім

Sadly, this has been reformulated beyond recongnition. It used to be balanced, complex, but now all you get is cheap, wet rose. Huge shame. I really liked it before, now it's pretty bad.

Анонім

It would be awesome with out the Pear, it gives sunscream smell all the time sadly.

I took a shower and waited till midnight to test and apply Toy Boy in order to have a clear and clean feedback lol. This is not a blind buy or beginner scent. If you are only into sweet, gourmand, citrusy or freshies and popular mainstream scents then this may not be for you. It's a bit challenging. At first I did detect strong spices and clove, then a mixture of rose and cut grass. Toy Boy Roses aren't feminine or girly. The rose here makes me think of both fresh and withered roses. It's odd but lovely. This one gives off a kind of gothic and dark vibe. It's really a work of niche perfumery. If you are fed up with the mainstream usual suspects in perfumery then Toy Boy will take you off guard. I imagine it will suit cold months and an elegant and sophisticated dress or a leather jacket. Will have to still give it a full wear before the final verdict but so far I like how challenging intriguing and artistic it is. Peace from Morocco

I'd be lying if I didn't say my opinion of Toy Boy changed drastically since I last smelled it at a beauty retailer months ago. The first reaction I had was "ew, this just smells like potpourri and spices... no thanks" but I went to revisit recently whilst browsing, to see if I would think any differently because I'm aware it has a minor cult following for how different and fun it is; a manly rose fragrance with a cluster of nuance and personality. And I really do love it. I took home the tester strip and couldn't stop smelling it -- it was fresh, floral and aromatic with that pear that comes through to add a playfulness. So I ended up purchasing the gift set with a 50ml bottle on an outstanding bargain price. On my skin it's great, and lasts an entire day (and I'm lucky in the fact that fragrances typically react well on my skin anyway). This is a heavy fragrance mind you, which carries for a while and that rose and pear combo may lead one to believe they're in for cloy-city, but no, I was surprised how gentle but firm Toy Boy is, which is a good way to describe it. That drydown is gorgeous as well, packed with silky woods and earthiness as the spices and rose still linger.

Анонім

love it! scent of my dreams really.

Анонім

A bold Rose note that truly does a lot to come off as masculine. Its just not for me, but I respect it. I am also not a fan of clove unless balanced with other spices, which besides rose is the strongest note imo once it hits dry down. So this just isn't the one for me. On my skin, beast mode longevity with 10-12hrs of prominent skin scent.

Анонім

I just wore this on a night out and got many compliments but being told "smells like a non binary vampire" was definitely the most flattering

Анонім

I just bought a 50ml and im really trying to like it, but unfortunately I don't. Its not an unpleasant scent, but the rose is too strong. If it wasn't so overpowering I could see myself liking this a lot. It also leans more feminine for me and im a guy who loves unisex scents and even some ones meant for women. It get's an A for being unique, maybe ill come back to it later

Анонім

I hated it at first but it def grew on me …

Анонім

A quality woody nutmeg, the rest of the notes are completely ignored. Average sillage and longevity. Very linear and unique. Funny enough it reminds me of my grandmother's perfume that smelled exactly like this, I knew she was cool.

Анонім

The ultimate summer night scent. Very situational and unique. Strong, long lasting potent, clean, a little woody rose. Niche quality at a very cheap price.

Анонім

This is the only designer fragrance I like. Smells amazing. I don't know how to describe it because I've never smelled anything else like it, but kind of santal 33 with atomic rose or something. smells amazing, got a bottle for $46 and never been more happy with a cologne for the money.

Анонім

I really love this one. Its a spicy, peppery, Woody tea scent. A little sweet but not much. Overall i enjoy it very much. Its more unisex and not excessive man like. Longtivity and projection are moderate or a little above moderate if oversprayed. 😊

Анонім

Instead of deceiving customers with trash reformulations of a fragrance that was once truely great, keep the original formula intact and raise the price to reflect the cost increases, or just let it die if regulation ruins the formula. The whole industry is shady. Reformulations should not be passed off as the original.

Анонім

this shit is ass!!!!

Анонім

rose & pepper straight up then transition to a more beautiful dry down. of course its loud and synthetic, its cheap. but as someone who has sensitive nose and often sneeze smelling harsh chemicals (like some middle east fragrances), this dont triggers my nose. rose vetiver clove & a hint of magnolia in the dry down is soooo nice.

Анонім

Love this perfume. Similar to the Gucci Guilty Pour Homme EDP but with a much stronger pepper note. Its like a more masculine, better preforming version that still maintains the florals nicely despite being much louder.

Анонім

I think im done with it, its too synthetic in the dry down. I enjoy the rose, the pear, and the magnolia, but the pepper is quite artificial and it blends strongly with the synthetic cashmeran in the base notes and creates quite massive synthetic nose tingling scent that I meet in Hermes Herbe Vives and other modern perfumes that I catch a whiff of from people recently. As it macerated, this stage comes very quickly, making it quite hard to decide to wear.

Анонім

First thing I notice is a sweet pickle brine scent, followed by roses. Looking at other reviews, apparently I'm not the only one smelling pickle. Light and basic when it dries down. To me this leans more feminine. Not a safe blind buy. On dry down this loses any semblance of complexity and becomes 100% a sweet pickle scent for me.

Анонім

Toy Boy is zesty, woody, incensy, and refreshing. I get bergamot and elemi in the opening, with a synthetic rose and Iso E Super notes in the middle. The drydown is cedar-like, skin-scenty, and slightly reminiscent of cigarette smoke. It reminds me of Rose Oud from Monotheme Venezia and Hala by Lattafa, as they share a similar vibe and many of the same notes. It’s an interesting fragrance, but definitely a polarizing one.

Анонім

A quirky spiced tea scent that deserves to be protected in the predictable designer perfume scene. The blend of spices gives it a charmingly eccentric character that may not click with everyone immediately. An acquired scent but one I c(love). Overall Scent Rating: 4.0/5.0 ★

2026 Bottle (UK) !@#£%#@!!!!!!! That's what I uttered out load from my bedroom last night after spraying this LUSCIOUS BEAST of Rose 🌹 I feel like I've been hiding under a rock, how can I have missed this one? Leila from @styledigest9819 talks about this in one of her YouTube perfume chats and Boy ! was she right - it's definitely unisex and being a lover of dark roses and hell, any rose, this is sublime, deep, very different and gorgeous. If you love Narcisso Rodriguez EDT (black bottle), Stella (original) and any other addictive rose scent that's heavy, this will be right up your alley. I sprayed Kayali Santal 34 over Toy Boy and it went to places I've never dreamed of, it was insane like it was pumping out this deep intoxicating scent. I even sprayed Mugler Angel Nova over Toy Boy (not that she needs anything!) and dear God I was trailing scent everywhere - its was utterly exciting and intoxicating - the gesture kind of high! I never had the original juice do I don't know if it's reformulated but my 2026 50ml is keeping me happy.
