First, neither the notes or the description implies that this is Angel 2.0. In fact, the description very clearly articulates the significant difference to Angel, while honoring what made Angel famous - it's strange intensity. People who go in expecting the same and leaving terrible reviews are not giving this scent a chance at all, and that is a shame. In one word, Angel Elixir is intoxicating. Figuring out a way to somehow balance both floral for those who are flower heads, and sweet for those who look for a more gourmand smell, is genius. Add to that this scent absolutely honors the spicy, strange hints that you can't quite put your finger on but are somehow drawn to - exactly what made us all fall in love with Angel in the first place. Bravo - they knocked this one out of the park!
Was so excited to try this and im utterly dissapointed. Angel Elixir & Angel Blush have litteraly no business being in this line. NONE. Stop trying to make a unique & outstanding Fragrance likeable to the market, this is another white floral sweet fragrance that follows that Donna born in Roma DNA, dissapointing. Whatever Loreal is doing to This Brand….its terrible.
I understand why people were disappointed in this because it honestly has nothing in common with og Angel. I’m a huge Angel fan so I get it. However, when I approach this as a standalone fragrance and not as if it’s an Angel flanker, I truly love and appreciate it. The creamy enveloping warmth, the narcotic jasmine, the subtle spice. It’s extremely intoxicating. I think this is a perfect going out scent, especially for night time. It’s comfortable and easy to wear. Sexy and seductive without being ostentatious. The kind of thing that would intrigue but not assault the senses of anyone you passed. I personally love it.
I've never smelled the original so I can't base anything off of that but this stuff smells incredible to me. I just got a sample today and I already want a bigger bottle. I recently got into perfume collecting again and Angel Nova has become my favorite so I knew I wanted to try more of Mugler's perfumes. This one has such a nice creamy scent mixed with a little spiciness. I get a lot of the vanilla out of it which I love.
I cannot even begin to comprehend how Mugler decides to discontinue Angel Muse simply to support the budget of mass producing this diffident uncharismatic conformist little miss sunshine! no hate or offense to her but she doesn't belong in this league... and I wouldn't budge.
ANGEL ELIXIR: THE MARKETING TRAP WORTH FALLING FOR Like most of the fragrance world, I was initially thrown off and completely confused by this release. Mugler’s marketing heavily implies that this is just a stronger, denser, more syrupy version of the original iconic patchouli bomb. If you walk into this expecting a louder classic Angel, you are going to be entirely disappointed. It doesn't smell like any other Angel in existence. Upon first spray, it felt a bit linear and hit me with that dense, classic "French perfumery" profile—a heavy, thick wall of scent that can be hard to dissect. But after giving it multiple tries and recently side-by-side testing it with Alien Goddess Intense, the architecture clicked. This is actually a highly underrated, incredibly interesting white floral gourmand. The magic happened when I realized there was a prominent ylang-ylang note in here—a personal favorite of mine. The jasmine and orange blossom meld together beautifully, creating a profile that is as ethereal as it is downright scrumptious. It is creamy, sumptuous, and absolutely perfect when you are in the mood for a high-tier white floral. It leans feminine, has great longevity, and effortlessly shifts from a bright day scent to a seductive night weapon. The real crime here was the naming. If Mugler had just called this anything else, the fragrance community wouldn't have collectively panicked. The marketing was totally off. As a devoted Mugler and Angel lover, I can appreciate that this still embodies the risky, challenging artistry the house is famous for. It takes a few tries to understand it, but once you stop comparing it to the original, it completely changes your mind. If it manages to survive and hits the grey market sales, I guarantee we will see a massive public resurgence and a complete rewrite of its reputation. Give it a real chance.
lowkey smells like floral salami
I fell out of love with Angel EDP long before L'Oreal's acquisition due to reformulation but I have also really enjoyed some of the recent editions, Fantasm in particular. For approx 15 minutes, I am reminded of Angel Eau Sucree, Black Opium and Britney Spears Fantasy. I am not reminded of Angel EDP so I appreciate the generally negative reception. Now that's out of the way, this is a lovely white floral/ vanilla scent. There is a hint of freshness. Long lasting as a skin scent and soft to moderate projection for a few hours. It's really nice. The more I wear it, the more I like it. I cannot stop smelling myself. I got a 25ml for under 30GBP and would consider a repurchase of a larger bottle, though not at full price.
Angel for the ones too timid to wear the original angel DNA, she’s still gorgeous and has the bones of the original formula without shouting look at me! an easy reach for anyone who loves mugler fragrances
Angel Elixir feels like one of the few modern Angels that remembers what Mugler is supposed to be: dense, glowing, emotional, textured, a little strange, a little celestial. It glows in a way that sits perfectly on warm‑amber skin. The first spray hits you with that creamy, luminous vanilla‑amber that feels like a star being born. No sharp fruit. No pink brightness. No clean musk. Just warm, narcotic, celestial cream. It’s possibly the first Angel flanker in years that doesn’t try to be cute, fizzy or fresh. It tries to be felt. It's heart feels like the Mugler soul returns. It's when I feel the part that speaks to me:- dense, warm, textured, emotional, glowing rather than sparkling. It's not feral like Alien Fusion, not velvet‑dark like Muse, but it is cosmic and warm, like a star with a pulse. It’s one of the few modern Angels that feels like it has a character, not a mood board. The dry down is a warm, creamy, narcotic comfort. On my skin, the dry down becomes Molten vanilla‑amber with a soft, narcotic glow and a cosmic sweetness. It’s not sugary. It’s not girly. It’s not dessert. It’s warm, creamy, enveloping, with at least some of that Mugler density I enjoy. What I love about it: it’s warm, creamy, and emotionally saturated. It has Mugler DNA without being loud, it avoids my danger zone (citrus, clean musk, bright fruit) and it feels like a cosmic comfort scent. What I don’t love: it’s not as feral as Alien Fusion, not as plush as Angel Muse, not as narcotic as Alien EDP, not as creature‑coded as Aura. But it doesn’t need to be. This is the warm, glowing, cosmic one - not the wild one. It’s not in my favourite Muglers of all time, but it is one of the few modern Angels that I can still connect with. It's a cosmic comfort not a cosmic creature but a solid, glowing, warm 8.5/10 in my spring/autumn Mugler universe. Batch Preference: 2023/early 2024
I love Love Love the pink pepper -ylang-combo A feel good scent especially the drydown is so calming Sexy mature as well
i love this scent its very pleasant and cozy it really gives intimate skin scent kind of vibe but more elevated more strong its like a creamy clean scent u can never go wrong with. this is not a statement scent or a scent u can wear when u wanna stand out and i dont hate that honestly it really just smells pleasant intimate and sexy
Revising my review again because it’s been such a ride. I love this and ended up buying a bottle, I find the dry down so addicting. The first time I tried it it had inconsistent staying power and the pepper blast was not my fave, almost like a dirty wood to my nose, but then blooms to a warm vanilla. Maybe weather dependent as it’s spring? But I kept coming back to it and I just love how it develops, I get whiffs of it for hours and it feels sexy, cozy and delicious. Gonna enjoy to the max before it hits 30+ for summer
I just blind bought a bottle for much cheaper second hand and it did not disappoint! I can see why this has so many negative reviews because it does feel more generic and basic than the other flankers and original angel… but something about it is so addicting!!! I’m already a fan of Jasmine and orange blossom as well as vanilla so I knew I would like this one. It’s spicy, it’s floral, it’s creamy and even though it’s not like the original angel it’s so unique in its own way. I was expecting it to be stronger since it is an elixir but I’m very pleased either way. I did see a review saying it reminded them of hot steaming oolong tea and I can second that because it does feel very “tea” like and spicy. Also to mention it’s much more wearable in work environments than og angel and lighter in the vanilla as well. All around I think is a safe blind buy if you like jasmine! I definitely feel like I’m falling more in love with it as I’m wearing it!
Angel Elixir is a beautiful fragrance. I find the Jasmine to be one of the strongest notes. That is where the positivity ends for me. I am not purchasing anymore perfumes that have no longevity on me. This lasted about 2 1/2 hours. There are so many more long lasting options just in the Angel line alone that make this one not worth the purchase. 😞
This is supposed to be MORE wearable than Angel?! I haven’t smelled the original, but now I’m terrified to. Elixir is so intense, cloying, and assaultingly sweet. It has the same sweetness as those Flintstone vitamins with a CRAZY amount of amber, giving it a very cologne-y component on the backend. I could not, in good conscience, wear this perfume if I planned to get in an elevator, go to a store, or generally be in a building with someone else. That being said, the honey notes reminded me of another (in my opinion better, more balanced, more wearable) perfume: Jimmy Choo Illicit. I would wear Illicit over Angel Elixir and it’s not even close. If you like Elixir, try Illicit. If you don’t like Elixir for the reasons above, try Illicit.
@Mtotheelly your review convinced me to buy this one! Will update my review when my bottle arrives. ** Update 4/15 - Received yesterday, and I love it! Elixir honestly smells more like an Alien Goddess flanker vs. an Angel flanker, but I'm not complaining. ;) The scent reminds me of a combination of DBIR Intense and Alien Goddess Intense, although it's not as strong as the former and is stronger than the latter. I also much prefer the jasmine in Elixir over that found in the DBIR line.
I liked this as soon as I smelled it. I bought a sample and now I'm be buying a full bottle for sure. It is a love at this point. It's a beautiful vanilla floral with a little woodiness. I knew it was familiar, but I couldn't place it. I finally realized what it was... This is Armani Code, but with amber and extra vanilla instead of a powerhouse of citrus and ginger. This does not have the longevity of Armani Code, but, in my opinion it's more beautiful and for me much more wearable. I love vanilla and it plays an integral part in this perfume as well as the amber. The jasmine is beautiful in this without overtaking you. Alien this is not, though some have compared the two. Alien's jasmine is much too strong for me. Sometimes with jasmine and with orange blossom, even though they are beautiful, they can be so strong they cause allergies-even headaches, so much so that you are unable to enjoy the fragrance because the notes are putting you in a choke hold. With Armani Code, this is the case, and with the abundance of citrus and ginger added in, it becomes laundry detergent on steroids. With Angel Elixir, everything is blended perfectly. You are finally getting enough vanilla and with the amber added the scent is more balanced. I would say the longevity for this would be 4-6 hours. The sillage would be arms length. This is office friendly and appropriate for day or night, but would shine best in fall and spring weather. This leaves a beautiful scent trail and will cling well to clothes and hair. I sprayed this on before bed and did not smell it in the morning. I do wish that it had more longevity, but I enjoy it enough to reapply as needed. Anne Flipo is a master perfumer, and to me this perfume creation is no exception. I have to agree as many reviewers have noted, that the original Angel DNA is not present. This is not a gourmand or extremely woody fragrance, and patchouli is not in the mix. I think that's ok though, as Angel has been around for over 30 years and there are dozens of flankers that have been made that also do not share the DNA. Angel Nova as an example, has nothing to do with the original Angel. It is a beautiful fragrance that stands on its own and is well made and was aligned with the trends in perfume at that moment, such as PDM's Delena and Carolina Herrera's Very Good Girl. All in all I think this is a safe blind buy if you love vanilla florals, enjoy a woody base to your perfumes, and especially if you enjoyed Armani Code, but maybe felt it was a bit too strong or citrusy.
i smell sweet and HOT oolong tea
Has this been discontinued? It’s not available on Mugler’s website
Ignore the hate- this is STUNNING. Im obsessed with this perfume and it's my favourite of the angel line. Its a heady white/yellow floral vanilla; the vanilla is almost chocolate-ty? Very creamy. She's sexy and means business. Reminds me of Dior Addict (dark blue bottle) and Good Girl.
Underwhelming, to say the least. I found an incredible offer on the refill bottle of this fragrance and ended up paying less than half of what it's worth. The only downside would be that I don't have the blue star bottle (which is beautiful) and ended up using an old Alien bottle I had to refill it. Had I paid full price for this perfume my level of disappointment would be so high that this review would include a more violent tone. I'm just gonna say this is a silly fragrance. Silly as in... stupid. It doesn't make sense in the Angel universe. It smells generic. Projection is basic. Longevity is basic. It sure smells good but where's the Angel DNA? The Mugler imprint? Any brand could come up with a fragrance like this. I can name 10 other perfumes that give this same "vibe" with the same weak projection and durability. That's not what I expect from Mugler. It even feels redundant with Alien Godess and Alien Godess Intense being on the market.
Smells like floral cleaning chemicals but not like, in a bad way? The sandalwood is an oddly discordant note but again, it kind of works? I wouldn't suggest anything from the Angel line if you aren't already into fragrances but this one smells more soapy and less avante garde so it could be a good place to start. Longevity leaves something to be desired.
my fave angel flanker, smells very sophisticated, sweet, woody and earthy, not for everyday its definetly for more formal occasions
don't even know how to describe this...it's like the perfect designer perfume because i can't identify any individual notes, it just smells generically 'good', i guess? maybe it's just me but i can't smell it properly after 2ish hours. wouldn't repurchase, but i enjoy smelling this way
Compared to the original, Angel Elixir is a delicate angel, a scent akin to the soft flutter of angel wings. It’s gentle, smooth, ethereal, and pleasant. The opening carries a very subtle reference to the original, but the fragrance is primarily vanilla-cream with hints of white flowers. It lingers on fabric for several hours, with an intimate sillage close to the skin.
For a mature women desiring a zingy white floral, looking for that potent "french smelling" type of juice (that often gives others headache vibes), this is your scent. Jasmine and orange blossom are very foreard for me, but they are buttery and creamy. A light zing of fruityness just past the floral opening that balances the white floral and keeps it from being too mature. I do believe this is a very mature or aged woman's type fragrance. I think it would be best for spring nights.
It’s ok but not a big love. Very peppery in the top and last few hours. It gives a fruity spicy note. Woody White floral with a soft vanilla. This perfume gives the vibe of prettyness, malicious. Easy to wear.
i was instantly drawn to this perfume when i tried it. some months later i bought a full bottle and then a refill. gotten tons of compliments! i would say it has become kind of a signature scent:P white floral, dark, woody, a little spicy, a little sweet. love it.
I’ve seen a lot of hate toward this perfume and while it’s true it doesn’t smell like the original Angel I honestly disagree with most of the criticism. I’m a huge fan of this scent. I searched for a long time in physical stores for a fragrance that has that body-lotion-like, nighttime, hot vibe and I think this one fits that character perfectly. For me it’s a refreshing break from typical designer fragrances. It has amazing projection and longevity, I go to a lot of concerts and it lasts through the entire event, plus I still get compliments. It also layers beautifully with any perfume that has a vanilla base. For me it’s a total bullseye 🖤
