What Deni D said, spot on. I agree. 👌 This is the sort of a masterpiece that slowly sneaks up over time and heat on the skin. Develops beautifully into a scent memory unique to the smeller. There is something so nostalgic, yet unfamiliar about this composition. It's intoxicatingly contradictory. I simply cannot categorize this elixir and that's a very good, and rare thing.

It's too fruity and resinous. I think the plum and patchouli really throw it off balance for me. I got a sample; not a bottle for me.

Lovely Sweet Woody Leather, Opens with leather and woods quickly followed by that plum and incense which both sweeten and add a touch of smoke. It stays pretty linear throughout, is totally unisex, and perfect for fall and winter. I don't normally make date night recommendations, but this fragrance absolutely fits the bill. Performance is average with a moderate sillage and about 6 hours of longevity. That's really the only thing I'd improve. Presentation is excellent. It comes in a high quality glass bottle with an amazing pressurized atomize. Only complaint is the cheap plastic cap. I picked this fragrance up at a discounter for a really good price and so in that regard the value is excellent imo. I certainly wish to try more from this house.

#1460 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant. Up front, no resemblance whatever to any Bentley I own, and I have most of them. But this does have a barbershop undertone to it, which I like a lot. I'd say if the guys like Maison Margiela's "At the Barber" they'll like this too, even though the notes are quite different, as this is primarily a woody patchouli scent with some leather. BUT, my experience with Olfactive Studios so far is that while they craft some very nice scents, their Eau de Parfums, so far, have come across to me like they're at the very bottom of the category on oil content. They aren't going to impress anyone with their potency. Same with this scent. Very nice scent. Arm's length sillage at first, though never really an attention grabber. This lasts about until morning coffee break. So the only way this does resemble a Bentley scent is it would be reasonably priced if it were a $40 scent. Crazy thing to me is there's probably no more than $10 worth of perfume oil in any scent, and just a dollar or two more in oils might have made this a bottle buy for me, which it's not as it is. This is a masculine leaning scent. Car pool, elevator and tight office safe. Nice dry down. Inoffensive, but it's a skin scent in under an hour. For $146 a bottle you can do better than this.

Seems like a modern cousin of ‘Patchouli of the Underworld by Electimuss’, which by the way I find too oily. This smells very similar but a hint less oily, but oily nonetheless.

I love this scent so much. I got a sample of it and i had a moment like the guy in ratatouille. I was instantly transported to 1999 where my mom just got a new car idk what perfume she would use but probably had vanilla and it would stink up the apartment i grew up in as a kid. Magical, the vanilla and the leather play so beautifully. It definitely gives the vibe of an art studio, new car, leather sweetness. Definitely on the femme side.

CN opens "boozy" and slightly fruity, but I also get some patchouli right from the beginning. It settles into a very nice mixture of slightly sweet vanilla, patchouli, and musk. Not a head shop or hippy patchouli, but it's definitely there. CN resembles HdP 1740, but the latter is sweeter because of the overdose of immortelle, and it's also more leathery. In a sense, CN is a milder, more wearable version of 1740. CN is not for Ambroxan and tutti frutti aficionados but it's for patchouli lovers.

Bentley for Men Intense? No easy does this smell like that! People need to stop watching fragrance influencers. It’s embarrassing This is not good. I only tested it on my wrist and it gave me a headache. It has a horribly synthetic unctuous plum and patchouli thing on this harsh woody mess. It just gets me right at the back of my throat. Ugh! I saw the notes and thought I might like this, saw the comparisons and thought “I dunno it could be a classier version’ Nope it’s just trash

Well, I just have to highlight the review below. And it’s a red flag, specially here on fragrantica, where we have to cautiously pick what we rely on. The resemblance to the Bentley is due to the fact that a influencer mentioned it and people just echo that. Bummer.

Sebastian from The Fragrance Guy has repeatedly said that Bentley For Men Intense smells like a combination of this and Lubin Idole. Having tried both he is straight up wrong. Chambre Noire in particular is very far removed from Bentley For Men Intense. It's extremely synthetically plummy. The Bentley smells like luxurious leather, cedar wood, rum and vanilla. This smells like a kind of unctuous unpleasant plummy syrup. The fact that so many people have voted to say this smells like the Bentley is evidence that people are going by what they are told by others and not by their own noses.

Smoky and leathery, I imagine the smell of a baron's mansion smells like that. It's very "old bourgeois".

Lovely incense and leather smell. There is no vetiver in the notes but this one just keeps reminding me of Luten's vetiver. Lasting power is good. Sprayed it 4 hours ago and I can still sense it without effort. Quite unisexual.

Smells very medicinal and synthetic. Reminds me of some syrup medications I was forced to take as a kid when I got cold. I don't sense any incense which is disappointing, I wouldn't even say it feels like a leather perfume to me. I wanted to like this but oh well..

Whoever voted or votes to say this smells like Bentley MI, you have a lot to learn about perfumery. They smell nothing alike. This is much darker, sweeter, complex, oh and has a different smell too. They have one thing in common, they are boozy, but thats about it. Bentley is a dry spicy, linear scent. This is dark, complex, sweet. CN has a ride of notes to reach the dry down. You can certianly smell the difference of getting what you pay for.

Smells exactly like church incense coming from a censer. Some may appreciate that smell, but it's not for me. The projection was very weak. This perfume is more of a skin scent.

In the world of photography, her name is closely linked to that of the photographer Edward Weston, of whom she was a model, muse and lover and who made her become a world-famous photographer. And I imagine them there, in the dark room, caught up in a moment of silent and overwhelming passion. I want to celebrate her with the famous shot of Frida Kahlo, her precious friend.

This is pretty good. The plum, incense and papyrus saves it from being just another slightly powdery, slightly ambery, slightly smoky, slightly leathery, slightly woody scent. I'm a big plum, date and dried fruit note fan anyway, and as said below, the plum in this adds mostly background texture and a hint of fruity sweetness. As for comparisons, this smells nothing like Bently for Men Intense. Histoires de Parfums Ambre 114 just a bit in the powdery amber. It's been a while since I wore Les Jeux Sont Faits by Jovoy, but maybe there is a slight resemblance in the drydown. Chambre Noire isn't a very unique scent profile, but it's a pretty good one.

Starts with a little boozy, fruity resinous sweet in big alcohol background, nothing leathery first. Moves to a stage where you can almost call it ‘gourmet' pastry sweetness that's actually caused by a soft violet. Nothing dark, i.e ‘Noire’ nor anything vaguely leather. The leather weakly shows up if you only you can manage to peep through the boozy pastry sweet for hours, the leather is there, just thin. The dry down stage is actually not bad at all, some sweet amber and that’s it. Misnomer for sure, not worth the full price. But good lasting strength.

i found a little 4ml of this at a thrift store on a hot day. i sniffed it and it smelled very skanky and animalic but i was curious about this house and also figured it'd be fine in cold weather. and yes, now that animalic scent is at a minimum and it's a pretty soft scent overall. i mostly get woods and incense with hints of plum, pepper and patchouli. it's very soft and does not project much. dries down to leather and dried fruits. nice for fall/winter.

Opens with a rich mahogany scent. This is soon joined by a subtle cherry note, which is nice. Unfortunately, there's also another note that creeps in around this point. It's not strong, but it's there in the background, and it sort of smells like body odor. It's not a good smell. Eventually, the notes mix together more thoroughly and become a warm, pleasant, woody fragrance. It reminds me of a warm, cozy room amidst a dark winter night. The dry down is not strong and does not project, but it's enjoyable.

I find this perfume extremely depressing, for me smell like what I imagine a mummy room would. It must be because of the papyrus. I see people voting for Cuirs, Feminine du Bois been similar but they are very different, their noses must be broken.

I like it . Masculine leaning but I girl can pull this off . A lil bit sweet, woody and sexy .

Pink pepper, incense, leather, and patchouli. Cold weather fragrance. Nothing special to my nose, but I can understand how someone can wear it. I don't like assigning gender to a fragrance, but this is something that is traditionally masculine to me. Beware of the intense patchouli in here. (Biased because I hate patchouli but: it's nauseating to me in this fragrance.)

Chambre Noire is so comforting for fall. Opens with leather, generally smooth with rugged edges. Incense smoke, lightly sweet dry plum/prune, woods. At this stage, the plum and scratchiness are reminding me of Marc Jacobs Decadence, but this is still smoother than that one. On me, this dries down as an amber. The leather just becomes impossibly smooth, no rough edges anymore at all. It gives me the same feelings as when I wear Shalimar. Gorgeous, warming, not too strong but lingers around you. I don't know that it will get you compliments, but it feels so cuddly on a cold day.

Woody, creamy and a bit sweet. I did not like it much when I just sprayed on me. It smelled warm but too heavy for me. However, at the end of day, my opinion changed. I smelled a bit sweet note, which made the whole scent not too heavy and boring any more; instead, it made me feel like I was in an antique shop, surrounded by wooden furniture.

This has become weaker now. For me it doesn't project and the longevity is around 3 hours and like skin scent. I'll give it a wear after few days and update if maceration makes any difference. Update: After two months, it certainly has improved a whole lot, Looks like Maceration is a real thing. The opening is a lot better, coz previously i was getting a cellophane tape vibe in the opening, but now it's rounded. I get the similarities between this and Bentley for men intense.

Wearing it today and changed my like to love !!! I have the first formulation so not sure if there was any reform . My bottle is almost 8 years old and it is a strong perfume . I can smellit wafting all day

As an incense lover I have no problem smelling like a coranic reading room or church aisles. What I like in Chambre Noire is that it’s a very incensy juice, granted. Leathery too? Yes my mannn ! But boy the plum just takes the gang into cheap arabic incense territory... It was so close to greatness ! Now it just smells like your grand parents came back from hajj or if your mom went shopping to that arabic local grocerer. I find it a bit nauseating after an hour, it’s really the plum. Otherwise it has a great performance, lasts long enough (I got it from mid day to late evening on my skin). Projection was noticeable for the first few hours only. Definitely unisex !
