I didn’t know what to expect from Megamare after trying Bergamask, honestly I thought I’d have the same impression of dislike. However, I was pleasantly surprised! Some state they can smell decay of a whale or a horse or some other animal. Thankfully I get none of that. It is quite pleasant with a heavy dose of Capone, making it a very fresh aquatic fragrance which persists and persists. The dry down is a lot more heavy on the saltiness. If anything, rather than smelling animal decay, the salt makes me feel like a cow licking a salt block. In essence, it is a pleasant and strong marine type fragrance and I do recommend checking it out. But as any fragrance, especially Orto Parisi, sample before you commit. Due to the strength and longevity of this house’s fragrances, committing to a bottle means you’re committing to a lifetime of fragrance from your bottle. It can become a family heirloom to pass on for generations.

Yeah highly subjective but this smells like a man that won't take no for an answer and follows me when I try to move to another venue. No thanks

This is not what it’s supposed to be. I had the 2019 and 2021 batches, and they were beasts of the beast mode. Now I received my third bottle, the 2026 batch, and it’s 15% of the longevity and sillage it used to have. Very disappointing.

Super strong aquatic fragrance. There are hints of nichery throughout, but overall this is mostly a designer marine fragrance dialed up to 11. Not for me. However, it could be great for someone who loves aquatics, but hates the typical poor perfomance.

Carolina Herrera Bad Boy Elixir, Essential Parfums Bois Imperial, and Orto Parisi Megamare are arguably the three strongest perfumes I've ever seen.

This is so so surprising i thought at first before smelling it that it smells like fish and sweat and is a beast but from what i smell i smell a very dense thick fragrance with citrus and is actually a bit sweet its really a kinda hard to pull of so dont overspray and also i prefer being in the spring as it could be thick or cloying for those who want. To sample it before buying it get your nose on ibraq’s Spanish tobacco i. Own it and its actually very similar to the megamare i smelled in the store

Love love love 💙 Salty, musky, oceanic, clean, Ambroxan, seaweed beauty! It’s not as challenging as you guys make it out to be Jesus take the wheel drama queens. Obviously not blind buy safe at all. Opening has this Ambroxan effect similar to Lucius from fragrance du Bois ( no they do not smell the same at all)

I was very tentative buying this due to the polarizing reviews. However, I ABSOLUTELY love this fragrance. Great performance and in my opinion not overpowering (got a new batch which are slightly less strong). Nice musk and aquatic notes that stick and a nice slight woodsy note in there as well. If you are a niche collector you need to have this one in the collection.

few seconds after the spray for me is a green deep - almost lagoon type shit. very cool i like dry down - it smells like an old air coming from an old utility van. idk why.

At first, I sprayed this on my skin at the fragrance store and disliked it straight away. I could smell a strong seaweed note, but I knew I had to give it time to settle before judging it properly. A few hours later, I found myself constantly smelling my arm and wow, this fragrance really grew on me. It’s reached the point where I think I’ll have to purchase a bottle. Definitely give it a try for yourself. Don’t let the negative reviews throw you off, and make sure you let that bad boy dry down. You also don’t need many sprays. This stuff lasts forever and projects insanely well. Rating: 8.5/10

I’d like to describe the fragrance as a very artistic fragrance, not your typical blue or summer fragrance. it’s like being consumed by the ocean not like being at a beach, the projection and silage vary on your ph levels. on average it is a powerhouse fragrance. the scent can be addicting and the presentation is visually pleasing. I’d like to rate this fragrance a 9.4/10 -joaquinfraga

I finally smelled this abomination. This doesn’t smell even remotely close to the sea. Not the beach, not the seabed, it doesn’t smell like any part of the sea/ocean. I didn’t get neither musky or marine vibes. Just weird chemical mess.

Анонім

quite sexy. idk if i could wear it myself, it is so extroverted and intense. it is one of the strongest fragrances ive ever tried... ive heard some people don't perceive the fragrance as marine or aquatic but i disagree. the calone and the seaweed notes are pretty clear to me, and it surprised me that they went so well with the musk! quite an interesting take on musk, definitely want to get a bottle of this, it would last me a lifetime.

Анонім

Intense musk and marine notes. Intense is too mild. It gave me feelings — and none of them good. Dead horse on the beach to start with your toxic finance bro ex at the dry down.

My nose must be off or something because Megamare to me smells exactly like Cool Water (fwiw, my wife disagrees). I also can barely smell it unless I put my nose to skin, but I'm sitting 15-20 feet from the front door, and my wife said she could smell it as soon as she walked into the house. That would make it my strongest cologne out of 400 bottles. My wife also loves the smell of this stuff, and she really only likes mass-appealing designer fragrances a la Hugo Boss. Go figure, given some of the feedback in here. So although I apparently cannot confirm even though I'm wearing it, Megamare seems to be a nice smelling and very strong performing fragrance.

Beautiful, enveloping, hypnotic scent. At a purely olfactory level, certainly wearable; contrary to the fearful worship and the exaggerated hype of the reviews here, I found it to be quite sweet and pleasing, albeit heavy and lingering. The saltiness, as well as the marine & aquatic accords were much more understated than I'd expected them to be; almost indiscernible, at times. To my nose, Megamare mostly unfolded as an ambrée, musky, expensive-smelling fragrance with incidental aquatic undertones, although my girlfriend did say that it reminds her of the sea when it gets wild and turbulent. As much as I like it, its insane longevity and unrelenting sillage significantly limit its wearability & versatility. This is the one part of the hype that is not exaggerated at all; it cannot be overstated how incredibly powerful Megamare is. 15 hours after application, I could still feel it kicking. For the first 4-5 hours, after just one half-spray, everywhere I went smelled like Megamare for many minutes. For my personal taste, such a fragrance, although pretty and enrapturing, is very tiring to have on - you may find yourself needing to plan out your entire day, and possibly the day after, around its enormous lifespan & colossal projection. If you don't get headaches easily, if you're a 'signature fragrance' kind of person, and if you have the necessary strength of character to rock a perfume that will fight you for others' attention every step of the way, certainly consider it; otherwise, best steer clear, because Megamare is very hard to tame. Beautiful scent, but not for the faint of heart.

#47 on my Fragrance Review Journey Another polarizing scent and I am up for it. I blind buy a lot. Some I keep, some I trade, and some I sell. This one could possibly be a keeper. I'm still on the fence about it. One can't help but see the reviews on this fragrance. Some of them are flat out entertaining to read. I was expecting a fragrance to have an opening that was more grandiose than Amouage Interlude Man, Amouage Outlands, or something like Mancera Red Tobacco. I was fully expecting to cough. I didn't experience any of those things. The first day I sprayed it twice, once to the back of each hand. I was surprised that it wasn't loud and unforgiveable. Instead, I found it to be rather nice and smooth. I got some of the salt and seaweed. The musk and cedar was most predominant for me, especially on my skin. Ambroxan is quite evident. With my body chemistry, I soak up fragrances, even having my skin well-hydrated. Megamare is the first fragrance to really showcase how differently my body chemistry reacted to a fragrance. On my skin, and to those around me, it smelled quite sweet. This is far different than many of the reviews. I saw someone mention maple syrup and that about sums it up. I received two compliments the first day and it lasted on the back of my hands for a good 10 hours. After showering, there were some faint hints of it. Day 2 I did four sprays (I know...I'm an animal). One to each wrist, one behind the neck, and one of the chest. I was in a couple of different stores, and it was never overwhelming. Had another compliment. My wife said it was a sweet and pleasant scent and not loud at all. 12 hours on my wrists before taking a bath. Day 3 and four more sprays. One on each side of the neck and one on each top of the hand. Similar performance and one more compliment. I never had any issue showering and it not coming off. I can see it lasting on many 12-14 hours (or more) based on chemistry. I sprayed one of my shirts hanging up the first day. After three days the smell is still there quite well. I won't say this is unchartered territory. There are many frags that behave the same on clothing and last long periods of time (BR540 Extrait for example). There were never any unpleasant smells. It was actually quite linear to me. I would say this is a quietly/elegant beast-mode fragrance. Everyone will have a different journey. Megamare left me impressed. I am certainly looking to add more from this house. This was well executed. It is a like for me because I was expecting more; however, I am quite satisfied with the end product. I feel like this can be worn year-round with the strength of this. It may actually shine quite well in the fall/winter. 7.5/10

One spray and this is the sexiest fragrance I own. I thought people lost their minds when they'd say Megamare is simply a fresh fragrance. With one spray I can see their take but there's still nothing simple about Megamare. It is fresh but also warm and spicy, with one spray, and still incredibly strong. If you apply more than one spray it looses it's nuanced intrigue and becomes an out of control sea monster that will overtake any place you go, and you will experience bouts of nose blindness followed by cloying assault of laser sharp salt mixed with warm musky body odor. One spray and it's masculine, sex in a bottle. It took me a year to realize how wearable Megamare actually is. I fucking love it!

@Minallie Ambroxan, Ambrocenide, or other superambers. They are insanely potent. Both Megamare and Risvelium have Ambroxan, but Megamare is overdosed with Ambrocenide AFAIK.

Анонім

What kind of chemical magic creates such beastly projection and longevity? It is absolutely incredible; never, and I mean never have I experienced such immense power and intensity that simply refuses to fade, never. You can still smell the 2 ml of Risvelium perfume I applied to a piece of wood in my apartment two months ago, like crazy. I have to have it, but I’m scared.

I've been collecting for about 20 years. I'm Gen X, so i experienced the arrival of the aquatic scent profile back in the 90s. Polo Sport, and AdG. Back in the 90s in middle school/high school i was wearing Fahrenheit, Obsession, Cool Water, stealing sprays my brothers Eternity. Suffice it to say, i wore the hell out of AdG, and moved on to Curve for a while in the late 90s. When i began seriously collecting around 2008 it was stuff like TdH and Encre Noire that captivated me. Niche houses like MPG were in my wheelhouse. Very unconventional stuff. As far as one can get from aquatics. I guess curiosity got the best of me a few years ago when i sprung for a bottle of SL Dans Le Bleu Qui Pétille - his take on aquatic. It was different enough that i sometimes do gravitate towards it. It was in the similar spirit I decided to pull the trigger on Megamare. I liked the concept - marine, seaweed etc. It sounded like it was in a similar vein as SL. I ike strong stuff, weird stuff. I have Interlude and Interlude 53, Silver Oud, King Blue, Purpose. I have found these forums contain lots of melodramatic reviews - they are usually excessively detached from reality. Except with Megamare - the reviews are not lying about the potency. Words like "chemical weapon" and "crime against humanity" aren't that outlandish. And i'm not even agreeing that Megamare is bad - it's actually nice. I have had it for two days and was so eager to experience it - knowing full well i would try to start with LESS than one spray. And since it was a brand new unprimed bottle i managed to get a faint sprinkle - less than a spritz. And it was plenty - it was present, and smelled pretty good. It was a nice twist on the theme. The next day, i went back for another wearing, and again tried to spray less than one spray - we're aiming for partial sprays - almost trying to make the atomizer malfunction and accidentally dispense a miniscule amount - this is where i'm at with this thing by day two, mind you. I sprayed what i though was less than a spray. I barely felt it hit my chest, lower chest. I'm trying to wear it far from my neck as possible, underneath my shirt - as i said, i have read the reviews and no chance i was spraying this on open skin anywhere near my face. It was not a full spray - however, whatever amount it was was insanely strong. It didn't bother me or overwhelm at that concentration, but it was still scalpel sharp and as some describe it kind of has an intrusiveness and relentlessness about it where that sharpness is almost embedded far into your olfactory system between the eyes. Later than day i was just laying around and my GF arrived home and walked to grab something from her nightstand and she made a face. I knew what it was - and she has smelled probably 50 different fragrances on me and never once made such a face. It was like it was involuntary, too. And she didn't say it smelled bad but something along the lines of it smacking her in the face. It's this quality that is undeniable - it's almost impossible to wear a small enough amount to prevent it from revealing this facet. It gnawed at me for the rest of the day, night. Woke up this morning and it's like it didn't weaken at all. And it was this realization that reminded me of folks saying this is a pass for them because they can't even wear another fragrance the next day cause Megamare refuses to leave. I almost always wear a new fragrance multiple days consecutively, but this morning i fought the urge to give it another wear. I felt like i might come to regret it, and wind up feeling like if i spray more than a minute amount i will be tormented by it and unable to escape. This is the dilemma - it has the potential to suffocate and overwhelm on a deeper level than anything else i've owned. I own Ganymede and it has that Agikalawood sharpness - but it's dosed appropriately. Another theme that rings true is essentially that you are not in control with this thing - whether you like it or not it's going to be hammering away letting you know it's the boss and not going anywhere. I have no plans to sell or anything, just reporting initial findings, and will need a few months to see how maceration affect things. Another note is that i have 12241 batch - batches some have said are weak. This batch is not weak, i assure you. EDIT 7/7. I took off a day wearing this. I revisited the shirt i wore with it the previous day and remained intrigued - i really want to be able to move forward testing it. So, i went for another wearing this morning, again, aiming for as little as possible to be sprayed. I failed. It sprayed fully - i knew i was in trouble. I quick tried to use my wrists to transfer from the impact zone on my chest in hopes i could spread things out. Nope. Had to hop in the shower. Granted, i was heading to work but still, i would have suffocated wherever i might be for the day - home etc. This stuff is insane. Here's where i'm at with Megamare right now - i might be able to wear one spray out in public if i spray it on BEFORE i shower, then try to wash it off, and manage to blunt its intensity. Wild stuff.

Was about to blind buy this but the shopkeeper had a tester. Tried it and all I got was sea and eggs. Like literally yolky eggs. Came here to check reviews and I guess I am not the only one who gets that eggy smell. Had to wash it off immediately. I am a fan of Gualtieri's body of work but this one pissed me off!

Love at first smell? I really love this fragrance. Maybe I'm just new into this but this is something I would definitely wear for sure. 2 sprays is usually enough.

It’s Marianes Trench mineral voice, more marine than aquatic, has a abisal mood, you can imagine the depth and the weight of waters. Beautiful, potent and highly wearable.

I currently don't have this fragrance and have never tried it. I am looking to get it since I love treating myself with a blind buy every once in a while. I own 40 knots and Squid from Zoologist. Can someone tell me if either of those fragrances are comparable to this one?

Анонім

So I genuinely really love this fragrance for days at a beach house and just in general. Im not sure why but I'm really not picking up on that spooky scary musky darkness that everyone always talks about. It is a very pretty fragrance to me its just extremely strong which i guess can be off putting for a beachy summer fragrance. Don't be scared of this fragrance, if you're on the fence about it after hearing all the spooky reviews i think you really should just get it and i think you'll be pleasantly surprised with how pretty it is.

Not really sure if I like it or not. It smells good, but at the same time, it somehow smells incomplete. I guess it’s better suited as a base for layering with citrusy fragrances, but that’s just me.
