Extremely nice fragrance!! Must have on Iris an Héliotrope collections lover's, my case. Very Chic, elegant and comfy

I bought this fragrance based on reviews and Fragram posts touting its similarities to Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleu. L’Heure Bleu is a true love of mine a “Top Ten” if you will. Well, 6 months later and as many skin tests, I utterly cannot wear it. Based on the notes I thought it would be a great modernized and lighter Guerlain drop-in. To me, it’s hairspray HORRIBLE! So disappointing. It reminds me of a 80’s hair salon and all of the chemical goings on there, especially over the top scented hair sprays. I’m not a fragrance basher by any stretch, but I seriously question all of the comparisons of a marvelously created fragrance masterpiece to a chemical disaster “wanna be” as this. Bottle for sale. 95% full

I purchased Oscar Espirit and I expected to not be reminded of L'Heure Bleue. Just because I've been let down by people saying scents smell similar. To my utter shock!! That scent and this are interchangeable. If not a tad better in terms of scent. Not going to say quality wise or not.

Chanel No.5 Eau Premiere (Yes.) Jadore Absolu (Yes.) Issey Absolute (Yes.) I was so nervous unboxing this perfume this morning. I was so afraid it would smell like Oscar which for me had a slight tobacco smelling note that I don't always like in a perfume. But Esprit d Oscar isn't a disappointment to me, at all. It is a lovely fragrance, doesn't last long on me but I'm happy. Already thinking of buying a back up bottle though this 100 ml is huge.

This is the best spring and summer linen spray. Crisp, clean, and a soft floral.

Анонім★★★★★

Soft Iris. She’s gentle. Very good.

I am interested to buy a bottle or a sample, please PM me.

A soft and pleasant fragrance with a fresh, powdery feel and beautiful floral touch. It smells clean, comforting, and easy to wear.

Анонім★★★★★

On me, I get nothing but a totally unexpected and unwelcome bubble gum.

One of the better floral powdery comforting fragrances at a drug store price. Nothing contemporary about it except it smells neither expensive nor cheap, just well done. And even though there is a reference to 20th century grandma, it's 2026 and 65 is the new 50, so just stop with the grandma references. This would smell effortlessly lovely on a teenager.

First air spray of a brand new bottle today and I was immediately back in the late 1970s as a really strong scent memory from when I was very (very!) young came flooding in. It smells so like my memory of the original worn by an opulent, sophisticated and chic adult someone I admired, possibly only admired because of this scent! Blind buy FB based on notes above, that seem accurate to me. No plastic toy smell, no play-doh, no baby shampoo or bathroom cleaner It is a creamy powdery iris heliotrope musk on me. Citrus is imperceptible, and I'm so pleased that the vanilla in this juice does not take centre stage. It evokes "yesteryear' because of my memory, and I can not slice that association from the scent. A time of luscious couture dressing rooms and window furnishings; silks and deep soft carpets that sound-proofed one's footfall; enamelled and cloisone makeup compacts and dusting powders applied with an enormous cloud-like pouff. My 18month old granddaughter unexpectedly toddled into the first test air spray, and a couple of hours later as she napped in my arms gentle wafts of this soft comforting creamy distinct fragrance arose from her and added another youthful dimension that was not at all discordant with the olfactory delights of clean baby skin. I'm home now and have squirted myself a couple of times and am so glad I got 100ml. This one would turn my head if I smelled it out in the wild. Amazing deal at CW Aus

Oh nah. I’m gonna be disrespectful af. I absolutely hate this. It’s too powdery and smells like an old folks home. Or like an antique home with a bathroom cleaner scent. Unfortunately for me, it lasts long so I had to shower to get the scent off of me. Not for me.

Sniffing this from the bottle is giving me rich lady elegant dressing room vibes, something right from the 70's and 80's (even though this was released in 2011), there is glamor here. Soft and powdery, yes, but refined and elevated, not plastic toys and doll heads. This one gets better with time. Don't judge her too harshly from a newly opened bottle. Let her breathe and age for a bit, then try again, or get a well cared for original formulation. I have an original formula bottle 14 years old and a brand new bottle. They are very close, but the older bottle is a lot smoother and more refined.

There is a new flanker to this called Esprit D’Oscar Amour. I own it, but can't find anything about it online. My guess as far as notes are raspberry, mandarin, hint of vanilla, some ambroxan. Nothing to do with the beautiful original Esprit, but it's really cute! Could make a great work perfume, very juicy, fresh and femme, not heavy and the ambroxan is light. edit: Amazon is selling, here's the notes-- Top: Pink Pepper, Pink Grapefruit, Black Currant, Raspberry / Mid: Jasmine Absolute Sambac, Orris, Violet / Base: Moss, Cedarwood, Amber Woods

My mother wore the original Oscar in the 70's and this is the closest memory. I love it especially after a relaxing bath. The bottle is everything.

Анонім★★★★★

I've had Après L'Ondée edt. This is very similar, except the anise is missing. This is softer and rounder, Après L'Ondée is lighter and brighter.

Ok, I have to preface this. There is just something about a powdery fragrance that I just can’t handle. I know it’s an incredibly popular profile, it just isn’t my personal style. I’ve never worn Loves baby soft and that was absolutely a requirement when I was a tween in the 80s! I just couldn’t, so I wore a flanker called Rain! Although, I’ve been trying to broaden my perfume horizons, and there are a few powdery scents I’m actually starting to enjoy, this is a hard No for me!! I have most of the others in this collection, I adore the Rose one. However, this just isn’t going to ever work for me. It’s pretty, and very feminine, but I just can’t pretend it is my personal taste. It is a soapy baby powder. That is all I get.

Анонім★★★★★

Johnson's Baby Shampoo at first, then the most soft, elegant, misty iris violet heliotrope ever. Imagine a wealthy young debutante at a Belle Epoque ball in a corseted dress. Very melancholy but with a spark of hope like some heroine in a Henry James novel. Wings of the Dove perhaps. I feel like I'm going to be arrested for a perfume misdemeanor for wearing this in ripped jeans and sweats.

Esprit d’Oscar is anything but ordinary. When I received it, I immediately admired the bottle — although that’s not what matters most. The first spray was pure pleasure. Yet as the day went on, moving through the city and the heat of public transport, the scent turned strange on my skin, even unsettling. I couldn’t wait to get home and wash it off. A few days later, I revisited it. And what a surprise. The notes had blended into a nice harmony, as if the perfume simply needed to breathe. I genuinely have never smelled anything quite like it. I find it impossible to describe accurately. The tuberose is completely imperceptible to me, and there is nothing sugary or gourmand here. I believe I smell a great deal of iris. Would I wear it every day? No. it is too particular. But it’s a fragrance I’m delighted to own for special occasions. It is rich — truly rich. It evokes a woman who is both strong and fragile, discreet yet impossible to overlook. Its vintage character is undeniable, but it’s a refined, chic kind of vintage. I love it. I’m glad it’s part of my collection, and I look forward to getting to know it better.

The opening is so much like L’heure Bleue that I wondered what I needed this one for when I have that masterpiece. The dry down, though, is where the magic is for this one. A very polite creamy floral (heliotrope!) musk, not unlike a pleasant creamy body lotion. For the price, wow, fantastic!

It’s so comforting to return to this again and again. It smells classy and chic. It’s baby shampoo and baby oil, but it’s also iris and violet cradled in clean citrus. It’s never dirty but it demands to be applied sparingly. That’s fine, let it last forever.

Анонім★★★★★

A visit down memory lane with a nostalgic, powdery and make-upy fragrance. A smooth well behaved floral, without being cloying or synthetic. My skin does not bring out any citrus in this perfume. Clean, easy and wearable during all seasons. A beautiful vintage iris perfume that is reasonably priced and easily reached for. Solid 10/10. I believe it to be a safe blind buy if you like nostalgic iris perfumes.

At first I enjoyed the sort of baby shampoo baby powder vibe that people speak of. I also thought that it has a subtle similarity to Baby Soft & I originally purchased it after reading that comparison. It comes off as a soft fragrance that makes you think that you can apply it to your heart's desire, but that's not so. I way over sprayed it when going to bed the first night that I had it. This juice can actually be quite powerful & it ended up becoming overwhelming. (& I usually like powerhouse frags). It lasts all day (or night) and lingers in clothes even longer, of course. Something about this one just doesn't dry down and sit nicely on my skin especially when applied more than lightly. The "rootiness" & powderiness gets to be a bit too much with the (i think) Jasmine. Its not terrible. Every once in a while I could enjoy it very lightly applied. One full size bottle is more than enough. For some reason, this smells a bit similar to the drydown of CK Contradiction which I just picked up tonight. Looking at the notes, it doesn't seem as though they would be "similar," but they somehow are (on my skin anyway). Im not super fond of Contradiction either. Its "okay," but i would never purchase a second bottle of it. I like the fresh eucalyptus in Contradiction, but the drydown gets a little funky with what I think is the Jasmine/musk/sandalwood combo. Then again, i may just need to experiment with it a bit more. I bought it tonight & its a cooler than average September evening in South Carolina. However, I can't imagine that either Esprit d'Oscar or Contradiction would be considered "head turning" fragrances & I don't forsee either fragrance receiving compliments from men. I hope im wrong! Lol I haven't reviewed either on YouTube yet, but i intend to soon. Hope you'll join me there, Fragrance Memoir

Imagine Johnson's baby shampoo but drying moderately sweet and powdery rather than musky/squeaky clean. It has received a few of ye olde unimaginative derogatory remarks about the demographic who might enjoy this smell. I like the scent but somehow never feel excited to wear it which is sad because I don't get any skin reactions to it cf Vanderbilt which smells similar and I love, but which makes me so itchy I want to tear my skin off.

Анонім★★★★★

Sorry to lower the tone but I don't think this works with my body chemistry. The first few seconds on my skin fill me with delight then the smell becomes pure baby vomit. Great bottle though. EDIT. FALSE SMELL DUE TO BLOCKED NOZZLE! Was just about to take to local charity shop when I decided to try one more spray and found that the nozzle was stuck. When I pulled off the metal spray I found the plastic nozzle underneath completely clogged with evil-smelling gunk. I washed it well and sprayed a dozen times under running water. Only then did I spray myself. NOW I realise what everyone else can smell in this! Admittedly, my bottle may still end up with a new owner. That almost familial resemblance to L'heure B serves only to make me yearn for the real thing but I know LB can be too much for some and comprehend why so many people love Espirit. To me, LB is an aloof, elegant woman weeping at the melancholy beauty of the sea. Further down the shoreline is EO, her cousin, warm and approachable, smiling at the waves and wondering if any of her pals are free to come skinny-dipping.

Yummy doll head, vintage lipstick or compact with powder plus unsweetened marshmallows. Violets and soft hugs by people who loved you before you were born

It really has some kind of L'Heure Bleue aspect... ...but only during the first 5 min. Then the next hour it smells like a very nice body lotion - similar to Molinard Heliotrope - creamy, a bit soapy, a bit powdery, a bit almondy. This first hour it's really very nice and then it turns to a sweet powder - I would even say it's almost a gourmand at this point. I would prefer it to stay less sweet but it's OK as it's not getting cloying and it's still pleasant. It's nothng revolutionary but it's a comforting scent and very easy to wear every day all year round. In my opinion it's not old fashioned or anything like that - it's a clean girl/gourmand scent. If you like this kind of luxurious body lotion/sweet powder perfumes then go for it as the price is really great. The silliage is moderate on me and longevity is around 3 hours. It can be used together with L'Heure Bleue if you want to make this vintage gem easier to wear.

I feel like a fragrant and chill cloud baby wrapped in a cozy robe. Great scent for bedtime 🖖

Esprit d’Oscar by Oscar de la Renta opens with a soft lotion-like quality that brings to mind the scent of Ponds cold cream. It’s powdery, fresh, and unmistakably feminine. Esprit d’Oscar has a vintage elegance, almost like the smell of your mother’s vanity drawer, filled with lipsticks, pearls, and a few broken compacts. Although I am not certain I would wear this scent myself, I find it oddly comforting for the quiet nostalgia it invokes.

Beautiful and so fun to wear! Powdery and cheerful. Instant mood-booster and glamour.
