Le Parfum

Nice honey ambery is mostly what i get and dense but suffocating, open the window first is best decision you will make.

Oriental, honeyish, animalic, woody. Amber is there, mimosa is there, berries as well. SPL: to the moon and back.

This is luxurious, honey, smokey, with traces of cognac or rum like the alcohol vibe mixing with the sweet sweet honey - that Hinoki Wood is very special and makes it a daring scent. I catch myself sniffing this again and again because there are notes I just cannot get enough of! I wish I had a fancy maybe formal important dinner party to go to where this would be perfect for - it is easily that special, rich, interesting, and wholesome. This is definitely one of those classic scents a wealthy French woman who wears exquisite clothes and have places to be would spritz on. I would wear it at home on a cozy night too of course - feel and enjoy that vibe.

Le Parfum found its way into my heart about 4 years ago. I saw here on Fragrantica that it was compared to my beloved Fendi so I thought it would be a good blind buy for me. It was! It is definitely a different fragrance than Fendi. Upfront it is resiny with a backdrop of fruit but not sweet, more like a raspberry liquor than straight-up fruit. Slightly smoky, with a dry hay-like honey note, like buckwheat honey. Dark and resinous and incredibly decadent. This fragrance LASTS! Some days I can smell it 24 hours later, especially in my hair and on clothing. Le Parfum reminds me of vintage Coco EDP with a splash of smoky honey and raspberry liquor instead of the peach that is in Coco's background. I wish Sonia Rykiel still made this beauty. And I am glad that I took the plunge to buy this blindly years ago. I would wear it more often if I had more than 1/2 of a 50 ml bottle. Mine is the EDT and this version looks like is still available on eBay. The EDP appears to be more scarce and pricier. Don't bother seeking that one out because the EDT is magnificent. But there are not a lot of bottles for sale and it's an expensive blind buy (not like vintage Youth Dew which you can find for a song). If you like fragrances like vintage Coco EDP, Opium, Teatro alla Scala and Fendi (either the EDP or EDT), you will really enjoy this beautifully-constructed scent.

As a disclaimer of sorts I must first state that the 50ml I so serendipitously stumbled upon this evening (for all of a tenner, mind you) had been sat UNBOXED on a shelf under the glare of artificial light for, from what I can gather, at least 18 years. Therefore I fear I may be experiencing somewhat of a shadow of the unadulterated thing. The dear old soul who sold it to me with apologies, dusted it off and warned me it had been sat there for "an awfully long time!". I assured her I was willing to take the chance, whatever amount of deterioration it may have suffered. All that said, what I have is, although rather disappointingly soft & intimate I will say, quite rich & lush and a very satisfying skin scent with a good 8 hours longevity (and that on a muggy summer's night!). There is something reminiscent in this of a kind of sweetish, good quality Japanese incense that I can't quite put my finger on… but I've smelt something akin to Le Parfum in the past - emanating from an incense brazier. And yet it's not smokey per se; although there is a certain, how can I say, "melty"… almost "waxy"ness about it… which I presume is due to the contribution of some dizzy French honey bees. The glacé fruits imbued resinous facets are nearly treacly but kept airy enough and this side of saccharine by what I take to be is the dry aromatic green presence of the hinoki and by the aldehydes, alongside a subtle carnation spice. How I wish I could smell this "fresh" in its original full-figured voluptuousness! Yet even in, what I am assuming is a diminished state of potency, Le Parfum is an intoxicating, elegantly heady, balsamic balm. What a tantalising, luxuriant treat - warm & tender - to be worn, preferably, in close proximity to fond embraces, I'd proffer. +++ Edit: excellent longevity on fabric! A fortnight after applying to the inner of a shirt collar, a sweet, soft woody smoke wafts consistently each time I near it hung in my wardrobe. ★★★★☆

At first theres a blast of sharpness then it goes into an old fashioned powderiness. But these float off almost immediately and the main show is on- woody, spicy richness. Very deep and luxurious. Special.

I want to add, that I thought that I'm the only one, who had noticied similarities with Tresor. I see that I'm not. Just tried Tresor better. They smell nearly the same. I'm surprised actually...

Loving this one - comes close to my beloved but bygone into past J Adore by Guy Laroche but has a softer and more rounded overall appearance. Rich, perfumery, refined,feminine and lasts ages. Would love to have at least 50 mls bottle of the original product and count each drop of this from the original mini I have in my collection.

This stuff is seriously good. Thick full structure – nothing watery, no half tonalities here or shadows or aquarelles. Its a Real Thing! Oil Canvas! Fruits, honey, aldehydes – all covered by smokiness of benzoin and hinoki wood, ripe and mellow berries which is intoxicating and cognac-y and solid base from styrax, tonka bean, moss and vanilla. It melts on you, very tasty, tarty, zesty and smoky-fruity at once, and its strong perfume, lasts, projects, delivers! Wow.

A present, the early 90s version. So. Two and a half days of laughter and very good mood, this scent lasts on me and no shower can kill it. First it's dark, green, sharp weeds, with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a drop of brandy. Then somebody waters the weeds... with Coca-Cola and isn't greedy doing it. Then people around me smell something flowery, gentle and nice, a bit oriental, "but not quite that heavy", arm's length, and I keep on smelling weeds in Coca-Cola, with my nose to the wrist. In the end it's a bit musky and flowery. I like it. Another scent for my personal days of laughter.

Finally a fragrance that smells rich. This reminds me of exotic women visiting the states from other countries or that woman who is eclectic and wears yoga clothes and drives an intersting car...like me.

Wow...I feel a bit amateur for this after the reviews I've read. I just bought this today on Ebay after a difficult time finding it anywhere else. I first noticed it on a waitress in a Middle Eastern restaurant my family frequented. She always smelled alluring to me, so one day I asked her what she wore. She replied, "Sonia Rykiel". That was two years ago. Imgaine my challenge trying to figure out which Sonia Rykiel she meant. Unfortunately, she's no longer with us, so I cannot ask. But I found a great chart delineating scents as far back as 1920 or so, and I noticed I have a thing for "woody" scents, Paloma Picasso and Knowing being two of my favorites. Now, after seven years basically raising my babies, I want to wear perfume again. And I don't want to go back to the "past", so to speak, so I want something in the same vein as the scents I love...i.e. woody. I was excited to see "Le Parfum Sonia Rykiel" falls in this type of scent. So I went for it...I will receive the scent in the mail soon. We'll see how it wears on me. I'm disappointed it doesn't have sandalwood, but maybe the hinoki wood offers a similar experience? I don't really follow the rules on "day" or "night" use. I don't care if some find it heavy or ostentatious or deep. If I'm going to wear scent, I'm going to wear what speaks to me. Wearing something citrus or fruity because it's summer or daytime doesn't speak to me at all. I'm 41, I know what I like and I'm excited to wear this complex, unique scent!

everything in this perfume reminds me of cognac, the expensive liquid people are willing to pay an arm and a leg, but when we get the first chance to try - disappoints greatly, leaving us wondering why the hell anyone would ever want to spend any money on something that smells and tastes as if it should be kept in a woodwork workshop! after the fresh, bitter - aldehyde opening it spirals through fields of roses and honey jasmine. It's full of flowers. Then the sweetness becomes oriental, spicy and close to gingerbread, where carnations replace neatly obvious cloves notes. drydown is intoxicately dry like rich ambery liquor, a heavy drop full of aromatic oils. Woody like oak that gives buttery notes to chardonnay barrels. Luxury, sensual, close to skin, mind-blowing. If you liked Angel give it a try, this is a much darker side of sweetness. there are scents that we need to learn to love, just as we learn to get pleasure from eating black olives, French cheese or drinking beer. Or cognac.

This is a very musky fragrance, to me it smells in the range of Magie Noire and Aromatics Elixir. The bottle is nice.

This is a strong, old-fashioned, complex scent that starts out as a blast of floral and fruit aldehydes. It reminds me of some of my mother’s perfumes, the ones that I didn’t particularly care for. In fact, I think it is the reincarnation of all of them put together. I’m thankful that I was super-cautious in the amount that I applied and I’m glad I tested this when I was alone in the house, because the sillage is like a hurricane blowing through every room with enormous force. There are so many notes mixed together that the result is discordant. After a half hour I can start to pick out a very synthetic jasmine, but it’s mostly buried under a heap of other amorphous floral things. At this point I decided to abort the testing because I know that, for me, perfumes like this can trigger a migraine and no sampling is worth two days of down time. If ever there was a perfume that deserved the label “old lady”, this is it, a scent for people who have lost most of their olfactory receptors and need the volume of every note turned up to painful levels. I will not be revisiting my sample any time soon.

I simply adore this perfume!!! It left me speachless the moment I put it on, strong , yet soft, reminds me Madame de Rochas a tiny bit+ the incitant rose in Parfum de Peau wchich I don't even like, but this combination of notes is the most interesting stuff I smelled in ages....Original Edit I have really dry skin, I am wearing it right now and is well, fruity, not at all oldlady or sharp....I detect rapsberry and cream???

A sophisticated oriental, a bit old-fashioned and definitely too spicy for me. I appreciate its warmth and its great staying power but it simply doesn't match my skin chemistry - all I can feel is spices and earthy notes from beginning to end. I wish the honey and rose notes were more prominent.

On me this fragrance smells bitter enough mimosa and more bitter Hinoki wood. Also I feel passion fruit and sweet vanilla. So it's bitter and sweet at the same time for me. The lasting power is great. Very elegant and classy!

I have a bottle of this, it's so special that i hardly dare use it, just a tiny dab at a time. So perfect in every way, it lasts and it smells earthy and warm. It smell very expensive.

I bought back in 1993 ...in Paris at Sonia Rykiel's boutique.... loved it's complex spicy character ... perhaps thats how I felt and saw myself while in Paris ... oh yes.... It's a perfect smell for Autumn.. I agree!

A very complex perfume, with old-fashioned feel to it; most prominent notes on my skin are honey, spices and carnation. A bit too loud for me though, definitely an evening fragrance. For me it stands in one line with Cartier Panthere and Le Baiser du Dragon, also found some similarities with EL Spellbound - great perfumes but practically unwearable....unless I have a chance to attend Vienna Opera;)

i forgot to say, this have a long lasting power, i put it in the early evening and still can smell it the next morning..:-)

i got a mini of this as a gift..and i fell inlove with it right away..its really a nice smelling fragrance..its really what u called perfume..very good for romantic evening for its srong but not loud...but i can wear this everyday. :-)its one of the few perfumes that match my skin chemistry..i would definitely get a big bottle.:-)

got it today along with Cartier Le Baiser Du Dragon. They are pretty similar though. They seem so old-fashioned that they are again sharp and have post-modern character. Dusty and bohemian perfume.

nice deep parfum for luxury ladys. have very spicy character for night and special occasion. i love this one.
