You guys be trippin A creamy grown up white floral jasminy gardenia with creamy sandalwood powdery hazy violet and clean skin musk what genericness are you guys talking about ? Even the white floral accord is built around coconut lactones its not something you’d smell often at all And its no way fruity maybe the GREEN opening has faint fruitiness for the sake of the pink color but no way this scent shouldn’t be pink at all
It's not bad, but VERY very generic, safe to wear, not strong . When I was 12 years old , i'd definitely loved it, lol.
I absolutely adore this scent. Through the years I always go back to it. I just really wish it lasted longer and had more projection. I have to spray so much and yet it fades away within the hour. The most efficient way I’ve found to not waste it and get the most out of it is to spray it directly to my hair, doesn’t improve silage but it seems to cling on hair for longer than it does on the skin. The scent is precious, it’s truly the closest to Barbie’s hair. It’s plasticky and a little sweet, but I love how the sweet notes are not gourmand or anything distracting from the Barbie feeling. It’s the kind of scent I wish they made shampoo out of. I would love to hear about similar perfumes that hopefully are stronger because I truly love this one and I’m so sad it’s been discontinued.
smells like warm lipstick. playful youthfull and fun but pretty damn generic
I tried a sample, and I do quite like it in doses. It has a sweet plastic smell to it with a very mild acidity from the tomato leaf. I do enjoy it, but I don't know if I need to hunt a bottle down.
I must be honest, I don't get what the hype is about. This is a generic pink floral. I do get the plastic doll head smell, and there is something in the drydown that saves this from being a pink perfume for teenagers, but there isn't enough there to make this really special. I'm going to work my way through this during this spring and summer and chalk it up to a 'meh' blind buy.
Ok. At start i did smell the tomato leaf ha ! It quickly fades into somthing violet . Then fades into skin . Not sure if i can actually smell the plastic babrie or i was just influnced by the reviews =_= hmmm ...
It’s cute! Mostly tuberose and musky sandalwood for me. Nothing sharp or offensive in any way. I was so hoping to get Barbie doll head nostalgia scent from it, but I just don’t :( unfortunately it is a poor performer, but I’ll be trying it again as the weather changes in the next few months. My search for nostalgia continues!
Overtly flirty and feminine. Reminds me of the freesia body sprays that were popular when I was a kid. She’s fun!!
Wow, Stella Pop is beautiful! I get a lush and non-indolic tuberose dusted with sandalwood on first spray. There are some other vague floral nuances here but they stay at the periphery. The drydown is where the magic is as the bitter green tomato leaf becomes detectable. I also smell a soft, "beige" musk here too. The must if very skin-like rather than shampoo-clean. It gives warm tones to the rest of the scent and pulls the tuberose in a tropical direction. But that tomato leaf! It almost pushes as green and piquant far as fresh basil but it is restrained enough to not overwhelm the delicat floral-woody-musk of the rest of Pop. It is a very delightfully quirky touch to an otherwise pleasant but not especially unique perfume. Pop is surprisingly well balanced. I am impressed!
I try to branch out, I do, but I usually find myself back in the territory of eminently girly things. Maybe it started when Shalimar Parfum Initial L'eau became my lodestar and things just got girlier from there. In any case... How, in my search for doll-heads, have I not found this sooner? Snagged it from a traveling sample box -- one of the only things I liked out of many, but I am just now giving it a serious wear. This is what I wanted out of Rochas Poupee but was not able to find there: playfulness, a girly tuberose, and just enough warm plastic to offset the florals. This does smell like a Barbie doll, yes, but to me it smells more like that nostalgic and exciting experience of smelling the new perfume samples in magazine pages, but in Pop you can smell the magazine itself as well: glossy paper, ink, toner. (Delighted to see that MarshmallowBunny below and I had the same impression, I discovered later.) Also reminds me a fair bit of Gucci Guilty at some distance -- the violet, the mandarin, the powdery accord, and the overall "perfumey" sillage, which some describe as generic, but which I find very appealing. The tuberose and tomato stem come through most strongly at first, neither quite smelling like its natural self, but I love how the greenness (almost cannabis-like?) of the tomato plant mellows the sugariness of the tuberose. I could easily be convinced that there is raspberry and pink pepper afoot as well. From there, it gets down to smelling like powdery pink lemonade and violet face powder, never losing that plastic doll-head effect. Deep dry-down smells like Aerin Cedar Violet. Very fun, light, easy-to-wear. I appreciate that this is a remarkably sweet floral absent any vanilla, which is difficult to find. I adore vanillic florals, but I have plenty of them already! Pop is a nice change of pace while still meeting the doll-head brief. For lovers of Bvlgari Tubereuse Mystique (a similarly sweet tuberose offset by the greenness of davana), Ellen Tracy Bronze, BBW Velvet Tuberose, Gucci Guilty, and the Tocca line of florals.
I am obsessed with a very avande-garde perfume called Petal Jus (please look it up). It has an alluring mix of floral, sweet and synthetic. When I saw a Poshmark listing for this perfume - it immediately grabbed me because of similar descriptions. Only Pop sounds like a prototype or something. So I bought the lightly used bottom just for shits and giggles. Not a fan on the initial spray. Too sweet and girly. Reminds me of hair spray that once threatened the Ozone. It's not offensive though. Just not alluring or original. The dry down is much more interesting. I get what people mean by Barbie doll, though that wouldn't be my instinctual description. To me, there is something very nostalgic and stationary about it. Yes, stationary like paper and envelopes. Maybe a faint kind of glue mixed with tuberose. Underneath the sweet there lies a salty, almost sweaty scent. For some reason it makes me think of a manila envelope! Layered with an earthy perfume - this could turn into a crazy alluring scent. So by itself, it is all right for me. But layered with something that has more "base" and dirt and it becomes something very addictive and mysterious. Try for yourself before giving up on it.
This fragrance smells slightly soapy to me, but in a good way. The tuberose and frangipani makes everything smell warm and creamy. I'm not sure what tomato leaf actually smells like on its own, but the addition of it makes this fragrance more unique (I've tried so many perfumes and not one of them had this note). This fragrance is soft citrus rather than sharp citrus. The green mandarin is blended well with the flower notes I can't say I'm getting the 'barbie doll' scent that others are picking up on though. I think this fragrance smells too musky and full for it to be associated with plastic
Not weak at all, and it has a scent deifinetly (even colouurs :) ) - bright, fresh and sweet at the same time. In hot summer weather is shining. The purple one is weak and paler, but the pink one is really attractive. I purchased maybe the last bottle from an e-shop and i am very glad i will have it for this summer.
This is sweet, bubble gum like tuberose. It’s summery vibes. I like it. Quite strong too
Tomato leaf is the main star in this, with plumeria and tuberose. A transparent, light, floral, and herbal perfume that doesn't smell like typical perfume. It makes you smell nice and fresh, like a nice shower gel or shampoo. The closest I can compare it to, is Givenchy Hot Couture, just much less dense. There must be magnolia in this. It's a nice everyday fragrance that also would work well in an office or in the gym. Warm weather scent. it's amber-ish even though there's no amber. Looking forward to using it this summer!
Very hard to dislike this scent. A beautiful, smooth "bubblegum tuberose" with nostalgic powdery accents. Some describe this as a Barbie scent and I can see why. Too bad Stella Mcartney discontinues fragrances abruptly once people learn to love them!
This was my signature scent years ago when it was in Sephora, love the tomato leaf note , reminds me of childhood, smells like a Barbie doll. Only gripe not long lasting and does not project, it’s so inoffensive that it could be for any season or casual occasion, not sexy or date night vibes.
I blind bought this off Joma shop after being told it smelled reminiscent of a brand new Barbie doll. This is a soft clean floral scent. Once it dries down I can kinda pick up on the Barbie doll scent. This is definitely a safe work scent. Something about it reminds me of Paris amour from bath and body works. This is 100% a spring and summertime fragrance.
Gentle, lovely, girlie fragrance. I gave it to my daughter.
I was intrigued to try this after seeing it frequently linked to Barbie dolls in various forums and reviews. It presents as an airy, pleasant, and inoffensive sweet floral skin scent, but doesn’t quite capture the essence of a Barbie doll in my opinion. The Barbies I played with in the early 2000s didn’t have such a floraly scent, and Pop lacks any noticeable plastic smell. Instead it brings to mind the subtle fragrance that lingers when flipping through a magazine with perfume samples tucked between the pages, more of a delicate blend of glossy paper, a hint of department store perfume, and ink (?? maybe ?? idk, it really does smell like a Vogue magazine!) It’s super enjoyable but nothing about this wows me, sort of lacks personality and doesn’t have any distinctive or memorable qualities. Not worth $40 in my opinion. I got a 5ml mini splash on eBay for $5, I like it a lot! Edit: It’s been 8 months since my initial review, and I’m sure that I love this. It’s basic, but kind of perfect in a nostalgic way. Pop… I’m so sorry girl, I take back what I said. You’re a star. Sadly discontinued :((( which I didn’t know initially, but there are still FBs floating around on some of those hole in the wall fragrance websites and on eBay.
Barbie's Tuberose. Just a real pretty scent. If you like Tuberose, but find most overpowering, you'd like this.
Maybe they changed the smell of Barbies at some point, but this doesn’t smell like Barbies to me, nor does it smell like tomato leaf, violet or tuberose to my nose. It does remind me of something from the past, maybe an old Avon perfume? Or one of the Far Aways? There’s some kind of floral note that isn’t listed in this that I don’t like. I’m thinking it might be magnolia. It does conjure up images of perfumes from a different era, or perhaps another product from the 90s smelled like this, but I can’t put my finger on what. I see someone compared it to Adidas Vitality, and I do see the comparison, but minus the apple. The dry down, once that floral note that I don’t like is gone, is a little better. Also, the sprayer isn’t the best, the perfume comes out in a trickle. Longevity is about 4 hours.
I now understand "the Barbie doll scent" people talk about. I had completely forgotten that this is exactly what a fresh out of the box 90s Barbie smells like. Wasn't sure about it at first but for this alone it's a yes from me.
Dolls head is right, raspberry I would add. I enjoyed it a lot for early spring, got a bit too sweet for me in summer. the only tomato leaf I could imagine would be from a lego friends gardening set.
This is a different fresh perfume for those who avoid citrus perfumes or like to alternate them with olfactory profiles. The opening has a tangerine note with, to my nose, an unlisted pepper along with violet leaves. It also shows a slight bitterness from the tomato leaves, which I would not be able to smell if it were not for this aspect. In the dry-down it is a soapy and somewhat powdery, with the violet note as the protagonist and a very marked musk background. On my skin it has a soft sillage and lasts for about 5 hours. For me it is a fragrance that provides a very clean sensation and could be perfectly unisex although, in my case, the predominance of violet and violet leaves as protagonists of the composition along with the great subtlety of its sillage, or perhaps my anosmia to it, made it leave my collection. Scent 5/10 Duration 5/10 Sillage 5/10 Quality/price 4/10 Versatility 4/10 Packaging 6.5/10 Would I buy again? No
This is one of my favorites. Don’t pay attention to the notes this is a sweet Barbie doll fragrance. Very unique and cute I love it
Nail polish remover, fresh plastic & retro floral perfume in the best way possible! Ultra nostalgic, makes me think of an old makeup vanity that hasn't changed since the 90's
If you ever smelled a barbie doll...it is that. For a minute u smell that. It does not last at all. It reminds me of cerruti perfume ...basically plastic. But cerruti is beast mode. Whereas this one is very very faint. Honestly it just spraying alcohol w hint of plastic barbie doll scent I am gonna be decluttering it. It is not even good enough for using as bed time spray because there is not much scent to it and the plastic scent is not that exciting
I bought the rollerball stick as a blind buy, and I'm trying it now in late summer/early autumn which seems to be a good time of year to see how perfumes work with my skin chemistry due to the humidity being the biggest factor, and it's working well with no interference which is great. However, I definitely think this will be great for spring and early summer, so I can't wait to try it then. Rollerballs are always stronger than using the spray, so when I first tried this yesterday, it was interesting but overwhelming, as I rolled it a lot on the back of my hand. Trying it again today with a few dots in my inner forearms and its much nicer. It's a soft girly floral, but it definitely has synthetic smells, which do give me a bit of a headache so i wont wear it close to my face, and will use it lightly. I can totally see me reaching for this when I'm feeling bubbly and young at heart. I relate things to aesthetics all the time, so I relate this to bubblegum pop, Barbie going to the beach, even e-girls who are wearing a lot of pink or pastels. Grimes was one of the faces of this perfume when it was released in 2016, and it did definitely suit her Art Angels era, if youre familiar with that album. Something about it is addictive, but this could definitely be repulsive to some. Not a safe blind buy unless you know you like anything young & girly, but also one dimensional, and you don't mind synthetic smells. I also won't call this work safe for an office, but probably okay for other places like retail or offices that are less closed-in formal and more open to creativity. And if you're worried about longevity, get the damn rollerball!
