Not only is this one of the most underrated and overlooked TF perfumes, but I would argue it's one of the best and overlooked rose frangrances in the market. It has insane longevity and sillage, all the while maintaining a sophisticated scent profile. Smells amazing during the drydown, and basically turns into a different scent by each hour. I keep catching a whiff of it 4, 5, 6 hours after spraying it. Haven't try the reformulated bottle though, I hope they didn't ruin it.
It's all rose oud and patchouli to my nose. Coffee is just a swift bridge in the beginning between the solvent and first evaporated. If they named it Oud Taif, I'd just believe it
Wow just wow this fragrance is so bad its so strong I guess its not my type of smell.
I heard they reformulated it…what a shame. I have an older bottle and it smells so good. A grown up rose. Dark, seductive. Eternal in its lasting power. Projection is wild. Dark feminine type of the scent 10/10
ughhh, what’s going on with these high-end brands lately? It’s called Café Rose, but all you get is ROSE just floral and nothing else. Where’s that promised coffee note? Where’s the warm spice? It should at least resonate with the listed notes but sadly it doesn’t deliver.
Brunch while sitting on the same side of the table with a blanket as a table cloth. Slow coffee and chocolate during a cool sunrise, with sun beams warming brush on your skin. An amber butter glaze over strawberry patchouli, sprinkled with saffron. Years of preheated morning love. Getting this cozy corner seat next would pass on the glow. Soft wrapped roses uncurling like the steam from the cup. Plated petaled pastiered passion. This is a review for the original. I may do the new one... Unfortunately
So, I managed to locate 2 x 100ml bottles of "Cafe Rose." I located previously owned, or open box items on Mercari for very good prices. The "Batch IDs" list the fragrances as produced in 2022. I've been seeking vanilla-centric gourmand type fragrances with additional notes for interest...coffee, chestnut, hazelnut, spices, almond, caramel, etc. I recognize I LOVE vanilla fragrances. But linear, straight-up vanilla centric fragrances are a bit boring for my current preferences and tastes. As an aside, I recently purchased Memo Paris "African Rose" and I've gotta say, I am in love. Currently, it will be difficult for ANY perfume to approach the good feelings & love I have for African Rose...it really is a beautiful perfume! And with that, I guess I "like" Tom Ford "Cafe Rose" but it is not a love. I recently went through an entire 120ml bottle of Mancera "Amore Caffe." And I'm also awaiting a second 100ml bottle of Akro "Awake." But tbh, there's zero detectable coffee notes in Cafe Rose. So, that's very disappointing. To my nose, Cafe Rose opens with very spicy, peppery notes and a gentle "small" rose fragrance (May Rose???) that smells more green (from stems) versus lush (from petals). As I prefer, the rose in Cafe Rose is NOT jammy, or juicy, wet, or succulent but arid, dusty, gentle and very very dry. Within minutes, loads of leathery, smoky, earthy, dusty, hay-like, dirt-like notes emerge along with sandalwood, amber, incense (smoky notes, in particular...not church incense) and some rose. Cafe Rose performs as a woody, amber-cedar fragrance with saffron, smoke and a bit of rose in its base. I dislike categorizing fragrances. I say, "Wear what you want, wear what you love." However especially on the heels of African Rose, Cafe Rose wears EXTREMELY masculine on my skin. It feels like a man's fragrance. I'm disappointed. I may keep one bottle and see if the fragrance grows on me. And I'll likely resell the second bottle on eBay.
The top notes are may rose, saffron and black pepper; middle notes of Turkish rose, Bulgarian rose and coffee; base notes are patchouli, incense, sandalwood and amber. Roses seem to be the dominant theme here as the coffee wafts away fast.
Tom Ford Caffe Rose: First Impressions: Just Beautiful 👌 Alright, folks, this is just a first impression, so I’ll keep it snappy. (I try, anyway.) I’m a Tom Ford fan, and apparently, I’ve entered my “rose phase.” Or Genuine love affair with rose? Who knows! I started with Noir de Noir (first release, Private Blend) and then moved on to Rose Prick. I thought I was done with Tom Ford roses after those two. Spoiler: I wasn’t. Enter Caffe Rose. This one landed in my lap as part of a fragrance bundle. I wasn’t chasing it, but here we are. I gave it a quick test run yesterday, then wore it all day today, and… wow. If I had to describe it off the top of my head, I’d say it’s somewhere between Noir de Noir and—don’t shoot me,Tom Ford Noir. Yes, the original Noir. I haven’t smelled Noir in ages, so this could just be my brain doing gymnastics, but that’s the vibe I get. Now, about that Caffe ... in Caffe Rose. Coffee? What coffee? 😂 the only way you will smell coffee here if you are sipping on an espresso 😂 I’m getting more “morning rose garden after a rainstorm” than espresso bar. Picture this: it’s dawn, you’re walking through a rose plantation, there’s dew on the petals, and a soft breeze is wafting the scent toward you. That’s the vibe. The rose is fresh, airy, and almost… ethereal. The projection is intriguing. It’s not screaming “LOOK AT ME!” but it’s definitely there. It feels like the scent has formed a spacious bubble around me. Not clingy, not in-your-face, just vibing in its own atmospheric way. At first, I thought it disappeared after 4-5 hours, but nope! Move around a bit, and you’ll catch these sneaky little whiffs, like the scent is playing hide-and-seek at the edges of the bubble. Is it feminine-leaning? Perhaps , a bit. But I’m a 6’2” bearded dude, and guess what? I’m loving it. Confidence is key, people , rock your roses. I’ll do a deeper dive soon and compare it directly to Noir de Noir and Rose Prick, so stay tuned for more hot takes. But for now? Dang, Tom Ford. You’ve done it again. Update : Wow ! People say it doesn’t last 😳 it accidentally got onto my hoodie ,3 days ago … just by skin contact , I never spray on clothes … and it’s still there and projects like it’s nobody’s business 😳😁 love this juice 🤓 no compliments so far but I don’t care 🤷🏼♂️ 😂
Before applying, I thought it was going to be very feminine. Darkens up quite a bit on the skin, leading to a soft and warm rose. Is still feminine leaning unisex. It's kept unisex by an interesting bitterness that comes out. An overall pleasant scent.
Café Rose Tom Ford (A18, Private Blend) I have soft spot for beautiful goth scent, gothic - vampire and red rose. That kind of thing. Just a scent. But if you ever see woman vampire characteristic. Etherial, Cold, Mysterious and Dangerous. Yeah that's kind of interpretation that comes to mind. When I sniff Cafe Rose. Cafe Rose, is really a fantasy dark rose fragrance so far I discover until now. A rose with green edge, cover in Incense. soft bite metallic rose oxide. Smidge in soft sweet coffee smoke, Like a soft aroma of roasted coffee. Incense in this - not the church incense but more like dark incense in sexy way. That dark light when Vampire about to vanish, yeah that kind of incense (probably certain amber). Compare to Noir de Noir, It's giving same vibe. But Noir de Noir is more Patchouli centric in chocolate amber. More formal. Even this is Patchouli - Rose, Rose in this construct in the ways that pretty much reminds me of dark rose scent. Serge Lutens La Fille de Berlin, Federric Malle POTL or Une Rose that kind of realm or CoCo Noir, yeah that kind of goth scent. Another point that this isn't really sweet scent, I compare to Oud Fleur - that is even sweeter, This is rose centric with support from incense / coffee one. Only downside that I don't find this scent friendly really. Hold pillar of TomFord structure firmly. At this is really last on my skin. I really enjoy this one, this is my personal keeper.
Very rich rosy and dark scent, love this lots. Might not be for everyone though!
A spicy, velvety crimson rose, mixed with slight green-ish coffee note and some woody green patchouli. Slight incense and amber come after a while also in this. Its a gorgeous scent, like a cousin to Noir de Noir, but more versatile and less dark. This is more vibrant than NdN, and can be worn day or night easily. Charisma in a bottle! Try if you like: TF Noir de Noir, Le Labo Baie Rose 26 & Rose 31, FM Une Rose & POAL
Okay, so I blind bought this one because I’m a Tom Ford lover and because the Private Line version was discontinued. I wasn’t blown away by the Signature Line 2023 version of this fragrance. It’s likable, but it doesn’t have the Tom Ford mystery to it. But I heard that the original version of it was deeper than the new version, so I figured that I would give it a chance. And yes, I have no regrets getting the Private Line bottle now! It’s definitely a deeper and dark version of the fragrance, and it is kind of sad to think that they simplified it so much for the Signature line, when they really do still have a lot of special, mysterious Signature fragrances as well. Makes me wonder why they would do that. From the very first spray, I get an experience close to wearing Noir de Noir – like Cafe Rose is a younger, brighter and less dark cousin of Noir de Noir. If Noir de Noir is too much and too ‘out there’ for you, this version of Cafe Rose definitely would be a very amazing scent.
I was so happy to have found this OG formula, but now also sad because I know what I have missed upon. This is darker and heavier on the rose. I can feel the oiliness of the rose, which also explains the quality downgrade in the new version. This fragrance is in the same league as TF's Noir de Noir and Serge Lutens Rose Tonnerre: A dark, melancholic rose combined with amazing patchouli is the star of all these three but interpreted differently by each. My dark, gothic soul loves this.
Every Tom Ford fragrance I've ever tried has been complex, unusual, unique. I can very much understand ppl's love/hate relationship with them. I usually hate it upon first spray then about 10 minutes later I smell again and it's caught my attention, and then a bit later, I realize I can't stop smelling my wrist. I'm in love and I must have it. This one is a classic rose scent with a slight bit of incense to me. Like something my great grandmother wore in the 30s. In a good way though. My granny was a classy lady! Lol it's not a "realistic" rose imo. the most realistic rose Ive ever smelled is hands down Tea Rose by The Perfumers Workshop for $15. It doesnt smell like that. Actually, I was briefly reminded of Chanel #5 at first whiff it gave me that much of a classic timeless impression. Cafe Rose is not smothered in a random sweet smell either, like Juicy Couture Rose I have on my shelf, and love. TLDR It's your classic rose perfume done very well.
I know this is a long shot, but…. Is anyone selling a LARGE 250ml Decant NEW UNOPENED of this original 2012 formulation? 🙏
The rose + patchouli combo has my heart. I smell more of the patchouli/sandalwood but then it's very sweet. Must be the rose and amber but it's so well-blended the layers of scent notes just blend for me. So addicting to smell and I keep smelling my wrist. Unfortunately, this is the old formula and I have yet to smell the new one T_T
Dark, warm & spicy rose. Never really got the "Cafe'" note... Cafe' Rose though. But honestly, with a scent this good I couldn't care less. 🤷♂️
It is fair to expect a bit of coffee from a fragrance named 'Cafe Rose' - but it has a very shy appearance here. This one is closer to Chanel's Coco Noir than to Montale Intense Cafe. Which means: no gourmand experience. It has a surprising kind of freshness, no clue how it's possible with incense on board. It's not what I craved (coffee & rose) but I like it, it's ideal for the winter. I chose this for Christmas this year and I feel classy!
I am a rose and Tom Ford lover, so I like the scent itself, but it is SUPER strong and instantly gave me a headache ☹️ Before scrubbing it off I noticed a fresh rose, not jammy, in addition to powdery facets, incense, and subtle coffee.
I have 2 bottles of this, anyone interested can PM me
Warm, synthetic rose + cardboard
I get a lot more rose and pepper than coffee with patchouli coming to the forefront. It is a nice rose fragrance but I was hoping for a deeper/darker and more earthy or roasted scent combination with the coffee (since cafe is in the title). I guess I expected more or different from this particular house and as a private blend. Personally I just don't love it especially at this price point. I saw that there was one listed as a new release under the same name of cafe rose this year. Has anyone compared it to this version, curious if they improved upon this or changed anything?
One of the first purchases I made from Tom Ford in 2018. Such a beautiful rose coffee ambery perfume. Dries down to such a lovely scent. I do have a 100 ml back up bottle new in box, full presentation, for sale if anyone is Interested. I went thru a crazy phase about 4-5yrs ago where I bought backups of every perfume I loved. . Then as my collection grew to over 500 bottles, I realized that in 5 lifetimes I’d never be able to wear all this . So I’m hoping they’ll find good homes where they’ll be loved and used…..100ml is ALOT of fragrance. PM me if you want to buy my back up bottle. New In box full presentation
Definitely more rose than coffee, as many others are saying. Rose is probably the only thing I can smell, other than a slight twinge of black pepper right in the beginning. It's really nice, but you can get something very similar (if not the same) for far cheaper.
This perfume is a dream! It has good sillage, longevity. Its exciting, strong, but not overpowering at the same time. The notes are perfectly blended. Rose is not very strong but it is there. I feel happy wearing this scent, anytime anywhere.
One of my most frustrated fragrances I own. I LOVE the smell. Starts off very coffee intense for me, then dries down with the rose coming through. The biggest problem, Longevity. For the first half an hour everyone tells me how great I smell. After that, it's GONE. Completely gone. I also have (and love) Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, whereby if i've worn it on the same t shirt more than once It needs a couple of washes to get the smell out. In conclusion, smell 8.5/10, Longevity 3/10.
I get more rose than coffee. Nice but not nice enough for a full bottle. If I want rose I’ll go with Moschino Toy Boy and if I want coffee I’ll go with Montale Intense Cafe.
I love this fragrance. It quickly became one of my favorites on first spray. I usually do not prefer rose scents but this gives me a certain special vibe when I wear it. Like I just came out of a bath that was filled with rose petals. It evokes a beautiful memory lost within my consciousness. A time of innocence. When magic is still a possibility. When flowers, insects, and even the moon used to be whimsical. Maybe it wasn't from a memory. Maybe this scent links to a fantasy. A place in my imagination I have not visited for decades. I am too tired and old to revisit. But I am happy to be reminded.
