I don’t get as much of the vanilla sweetness others are talking about. I get more of the cool and soapy aldehydes, some citrus and florals. Perhaps it will come in more in the deep dry down. Tom Fords tend to take a longer while to develop on my skin, and I’m only wearing this for about 20 minutes. Vanilla also does get more intense as a fragrance ages. I have to say, of all the TF scents I’ve tried, this is one I find the most wearable. It’s very clean and soft smelling. It isn’t worth the price tag in my opinion, but considerably better than the others I have tried. It’s a like, but not a love.

Verrryy vanilla. Super sweet. Some subtle ozone and soapy notes. Dries to a soft vanilla floral musk. Quite strong when applied. The sweetness was overpowering at first.

Анонім

Smells just like freshly washed anus layered with vanilla. I usually wear the heck out of it during colder seasons. But for some reason in warmer months I just don't crave it at all even though it smells cool and icy.

Анонім

For those who are sad about it being discontinued: there is a very very decent dupe Emir “Metallico”. You’re welcome!

Анонім

This is vanilla bean ice cream on a cold metal spoon. It’s gorgeou. very depressing It’s discontinued.

Floreale, cremoso, metallico.. Lo uso da tempo, è molto piacevole, fa sentire in ordine ed è nella mia categoria Clean.. Va meglio in primavera/estate, è facile da portare e lo uso anche in ufficio!

The opening smells like a freshly disinfected spaceship with a vanilla diffuser running somewhere in the background. Cold metal, sterile air, expensive hand soap, artificial comfort. It’s futuristic in a very Tom Ford way. Then the dry down completely changes the story. Suddenly it smells like a young girl wearing an overly sweet cheap vanilla body spray while sitting in the passenger seat of her chainsmoker boyfriend’s car at 2 AM. Lip gloss, cigarettes in the fabric seats, emotional damage. Honestly one of the strangest vanilla fragrances I’ve smelled.

Анонім

It smells like a blend of clean metal and a very luxurious powdery scent. It smells absolutely beautiful. The metallic feel isn’t too intense, it's more dominated by the powdery notes. The projection and longevity are excellent.

so sooo bad, smells like ur at a metal-melting factory, then u get a whiff of the crisp air outside too. Also that synthetic vanilla smells like baby formula. If this didnt have the alehydes note this would be one of the worst scents ever. ASS

Анонім

like more interesting, sweet skin. sort of like how a lip colour can be “your lips but better”, this fragrance is like “your skin but better”. not super overpowering, so i think it’s suitable for dates or when somebody will be close enough to you to smell you. very easy to wear.

Metallique by Tom Ford is a clean, softly metallic fragrance that leans into elegance rather than projection. It opens with bright aldehydes that create a polished, almost reflective effect—more about texture than sharpness—supported by a subtle touch of pink pepper and a fleeting hint of bergamot. As it develops, the fragrance becomes smoother and more intimate. Heliotrope introduces a delicate powdery nuance, while lily of the valley adds a fresh, airy cleanliness. The florals are blended seamlessly, never dominating the composition. The base is where Metallique settles into its signature character: a creamy yet restrained vanilla, paired with ambrette for a soft skin-like warmth, and supported by smooth sandalwood. The result is a close-to-skin scent that feels refined, minimal, and quietly luxurious. Performance is moderate, with a soft projection and a wear time of around 6–8 hours. Metallique is best suited for those who appreciate understated, clean fragrances with a subtle, modern edge.

Somewhere I once read that this fragrance smells like condensed milk straight from a freshly opened tin can - and honestly, I don’t think I could describe it any better. It’s a multifaceted scent that changes quite a bit between the opening and the drydown. At first, I catch pepper, which quickly gives way to the scent of a freshly laundered shirt. Those are the aldehydes - cold, clean, and sparkling. But as the fragrance develops, vanilla steps in and the aldehydes start to feel almost metallic; if you keep inhaling, you can even sense a faint metallic taste in your mouth. In the base, both from the skin and straight from the atomizer, that “tin can” note appears — along with a thick, syrupy sweetness with a slight lactonic touch. I’m not a big fan of this combination of sweetness and powder, but the fragrance is undeniably unusual.

Tom Ford Métallique is a fragrance that plays entirely on contrast: it is the scent of a steel armor that hides a soft and dusty heart. The opening is an electric discharge. The aldehydes here are not the "vintage" ones like Chanel N°5; they are modern, cold and almost metallic, similar to the smell of hot iron or fresh snow. Pink pepper adds a pungent sparkle that amplifies this “white light” sensation. Tom Ford's true stroke of genius in this creation is the transition from metal to leather: The Floral Heart: The heliotrope brings an almondy and powdery nuance, which softens the initial impact without eliminating that sense of extreme cleanliness. The enveloping base: When the "metallic" part subsides, a not too sweet vanilla emerges, deepened by the Peru Balsam. This is where the fragrance becomes "skin scent": a smell reminiscent of clean skin, warmed by the sun. Métallique is a futuristic fragrance. It is not the perfume for those looking for classic seduction or a romantic bouquet of flowers. It's an "architectural" scent: clean, detached, but incredibly magnetic once it blends with body heat.

A modern interpretation of aldehyde. Vanilla lost in soap suds. Magnificent. Signature scent. Suitable for all four seasons, and it never smells like everyone else, nor does it smell like those awful perfumes on the market market masquerading as originals..... I've stocked up on 10 bottles. I'll use them sparingly until I die.

Анонім

Smells like the body wash of bath and body works’ warm vanilla sugar, but a bit sweeter. The last time i used that body wash it literally made me throw up. However the deep dry down of this is beautiful, but i don’t want to wait a few hours to enjoy this.

Анонім

Smells like lemon icy glazing donuts

Анонім

imagine a big bar of white soap, laying frothy and wet on an icy steel tray it's a strange one that never is a crowd pleaser, which is cool feels very bold, i like wearing it on hot summer nights

Анонім

I get pepper over powdery, vanillic florals. I gave it to someone else though and they really loved it (and didn’t get any pepper). Super interesting, definitely worth a sample!

WHY HAS THIS PERFUME BEEN DISCONTINUED? I AM SO ANGRY!

Анонім

I'm in the camp of "this just works on my skin" as well. Signature worthy stuff to be honest. It's constructed around vanilla mostly, with some balsams and flowers. I definitely get a soapy aldehyde note with a hint of freshness from the citrus. But it's mostly the flowers and vanilla that dominate. Heliotrope has a very intense and distinct smell, and it can either be too much for some people or absolutely heavenly. It's a note that smells better if it's tamed down in a composition because no matter what, you'll always know it's there. It just doesn't like to hide, and I love how it's carefully placed here. Nothing "metallic" in this to my nose by the way. In fact, I find it very easy to wear. Call me crazy, but if Kouros had a "cleaned up" vanilla based cousin, I can imagine it smelling like this.

Анонім

To me, this kinda smells like the intense lily scent that some people think smells like almost ammonia, with a bit of wood? I don't know. Maybe it's just not for me

Анонім

I don’t get metal. It’s light, sweetened vanilla pencil shavings and I love it! Stunning with Babycat— I don’t know why but it works.

Анонім

I love this so much on summer days. It's weird yet unique, distant and different from everything else I own. All in the best way possible and it feels very clean. It's long lasting but not overpowering, smells like cold skin. Very interesting, TF should be bringing this one back. Please?

Анонім

Sharp, soapy, metallic vanilla. The tope notes are very prominent, middle notes are basically non existent to me, and from the base notes i smell only the vanilla. I would say it’s a very unique fragrance, but not for everyone. Great for hot summer days.

Анонім

this is all i ever wanted white patchouli to smell like. while i enjoy both of them, metallique is weird and icy, unlike anything ive ever smelled before. in the drydown is very woody/patchouli heavy even though its not in the notes list. lasts an eternity but doesn't proyect a ton, which makes sense. its very strong and not for the weak

I am a man and I bought it blindly because I was curious about the scent. I was a little surprised and didn't know if it was what I wanted, but I am a collector and I have a lot of perfumes, so I put it on the shelf because it was discontinued. Recently, however, I reached for it again - and I don't know if my nose has unblocked or what, but now I really like this fragrance and it's an interesting addition to my collection. If you only buy one perfume a year, it may not be what you love, but if you have more than 5, it may be what you are looking for. I'll tell you that I don't really smell much metal here - at least compared to other perfumes I have, such as Lavender Extreme. It's a combination of aldehydes & vanilla, and the edge is probably added by heliotrope. Discontinuation is wrong decision, in my opinion it's an interesting offering from TF

Metallique obviously means metallic in French, so you'd expect a cold, shimmering, stoney or flinty, maybe even watery scent - or other descriptors along those lines. That's not what you get. Cold, sure. There are ample doses of aldehydes at the top that delivery a sort-of cooling effect, but the rest of it is floral, sweet, and vanillic. This then, as far as being metallic goes, is more like the metallic sheen of a teenage girl's gross lip gloss rather than the cold, regal glint of a freshly polished D-Block metal. So, it's not what you expect but the unfortunate surprise is actually fairly pleasant. In the current world cluttered with sweet, floral and vanillic feminine fragrances that are nausea and depression inducing, Metallique takes the template and delivers something noteworthy with it. You can, as it turns out, have a mainstream sweet, floral, vanillic that is actually pleasantly layered and complex, and delivers all of those notes at the right volume and the right timbre. Despite TF's commendable attempts to make this perfume template genuinely appealing to those that care about perfume - and they mostly succeeded - many people will still find this quite hard to wear. It is nearly impossible to get around the lip gloss feel. That's ok. We need more perfumes that are not meant for everyone, and that take an idea most of us enthusiasts consider to be overplayed and droll and say "no, no, no, you can actually do this right." So, kudos to Tom Ford for putting all of the sickly, half-assed, sugary floral bombs in their place, but you won't find me wearing this.

I really miss this one. I only have around 10ml left. To me this doesn’t smell of metal it feels like metal in a fragrance like putting your hand on cold metal but the air is fluffy and vanillic. Really lovely.

Анонім

Love all the barely perceptible dry, dusty and sharp notes but then I gag on the vanilla. Like drown in bottle of vanilla extract and lick a penny.

Анонім

Smells of vanilla, glass and stainless steel in the most modern, abstract way. Has a cool, airy feeling; not gourmand and warm. Sophisticated vanilla soap.
