Orchid Soleil

This was such a challenge . The whipped cream note in this- so realistic and sublime that it made other "whipped cream notes" smell like road tar. The chestnut note made it smell like dried corn - and the sun itself . It was a BATTLE of the NOTES in a bottle ! I never went back and forth so much on a fragrance. Sadly discontinued ; bottle sold - I want this back for more battling. This fragrance was so DRY and smothering - it had you gasping for fresh air. I always felt like a pillow was being pushed upon my face. But I loved it. LOL . Tom Ford ; where are you now & what happened ?

a slightly sweet animalic white floral, but paired with the familiar black orchid base . its versatility compares to that of black orchid edt and velvet orchid (velvet orchid i adore, but its harder to wear for spring summer heat than soleil) . there noticeably is a wet dampness from the cypress, and theres something about this perfume that rings a bell: organza givenchy . the whipped cream + chestnut base doesnt get cloying or juvenile which i was afraid of, still mature . less dark and serious than other flankers, but slightly standoffish, high siddity . somehow still manages to be flirty . is it safe for professional settings? if you want a raise lol . on clothing its more floral nutty patchouli and i get much less of the “corn” aspect

I really get the vanilla/whipped cream and chestnut. It is a strange perfume, but strangely addictive. I have one 50 ml and a backup 30 ml. I just can't find settings in which to wear it. Therefore, I have several of bottles of this for swap in EU.

It’s tuberose on acid. I sold my bottle. I detest it .

My instantaneous perception of this one is that it's animalistic ... & by that I mean really quite animalistic, so I'm surprised by the absence of any overt animalistic component to it. And there's someone, a bit down the list, who seems to agree that it's an animalistic fragrance, but intensely dislikes it for that ... whereas I love it for that! Update: just noticed: in the 'pyramid' thingie it does say 'animalistic' ... but in the ingredients (with pictures) section there's none of the animalistic note icons. Unless maybe we count 'lactonic' (particularly, in this instance, 'whipped cream') as an animalistic note, which is not altogether unreasonable. That could be the explanation, actually: I gather there's considerable overlap between the musky aromachemicals & the lactonic ones.

smells like a sweet corn

I have a weird opinion about it. The opening is awful, I like pink pepper but the bitter orange and cypress smell like a tarpentine. But I Love this fragrance. It's discontinued so you can't get it. It's like a grandma, but it a very nice way. A grandma that loves to use nivea creme and bake butter cookies, and has orchids blooming in the house. Update: it's a bit of an out there suggestion, but try and layer it with Bianco Latte, it becomes SO amazing! The whipped cream and vanilla in this one, work so well with the vanilla and tonka in Bianco Latte! It's beast mode but it SO wonderful!

Bathe me in this. I need a soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, deodorant, and the perfume. I'm extremely biased to anything remotely sunscreen and this is that. It's light and creamy and floral all at once. Definitely in my top 100 list. Good job, Sonia Constant.

Actually don't understand the hype. It smells like a barn that’s been soaked in animal urine and a really bad breath from gingivitis and with that combined with smooth vanilla 😬 yuck

Very unique scent. I explored it back in 2021 when my nose wasn’t yet matured enough to understand unique scents, but I randomly found myself thinking about it today.

Orchid Soleil sort of flies under the radar within the Orchid range, when actually it’s a rather lovely perfume. I have long adored the original Black Orchid, which in my opinion is undefeated, but this is a beautiful iteration of the same idea: for the warmer weather. The exact same thick orchid accord from Black Orchid is instantly recognisable, which is great. However here it’s matched with the dense gummy nature of tuberose, as well as a bitter minty effect in the opening. It soon smooths out and becomes rather sweet and creamy, whilst still retaining the sultry orchid and tuberose. I’m enjoying it a fair bit actually. Although, spraying the neon red juice on my wrist makes me look like a victim of knife crime. I don’t love it, I still prefer the original, but this is a really unique and creative flanker which I will always have respect for.

This is such a beautiful scent!!! The blend is just too immaculate, why on earth was this discontinued ? How I regret not adding this to my collection on time. The resellers on eBay are absolutely high on crack for the prices they are requesting, smh

Finally got to try this discontinued Tom Ford fragrance, "Orchid Soleil." At this point in time, many of the tuberose-centric fragrances I'm trying (in a quest to find "one" additional like/love next to Amouage "Love Tuberose") are starting to smell similar, if not identical to each other. To my nose, Orchid Soleil is a nice enough, tuberose-centric fragrance. A few of Orchid Soleil's unique notes-cypress, pink pepper, orchid, lily-make the perfume reminiscent of a gentler, more wearable Franck Boclet "Cocaine." Also nods at Fracas, which I do not favor. The fragrance DOES wear creamier than either Cocaine or Fracas, which I imagine is because of the cream note. Not full-bottle worthy for me.

It was unbearable... Too much of the bad orchid if I could call it this way. The liquid was pink and left spots on clothes. I have smelt some orchid scents by Demeter / The Library Of Fragrance and they were pretty bad (especially Cattleya) except one that was ultra green and smelt like cut flowers (To Yo Ran). I hoped TF had done something wearable with this but it was way too much into the bad side. I like Black Orchid and Velvet Orchid, those are good and interesting, wearable, enjoyable and a little "dark", but Orchid Soleil is a no-no, at least the one I had.

I got a dupe of this in the mail today and I was all excited because I love every other Tom Ford fragrance I've tried. Violet Blonde is one of my signature scents and I also love Black Orchid, Velvet Orchid, and Noir de Noir. It smelled good on the roller, but on my skin it turned nasty and medicinal. I let my roommate sniff my wrist to make sure I wasn't crazy, and he said it smelled like camphor. It also lingers in an unfortunate way - I couldn't get rid of it completely until the next time I showered. I think TF kinda missed the mark with this one.

I miss this so much, it was a very unique scent that you love or hate, there is literally no in between. Because of this fragrance I realized I love pink pepper in scents. The combination with patchouli and whipped cream is so odd yet fascinating. I couldn’t stop sniffing my wrists when I wore this and it made me extremly nostalgic. I would buy 5 if this came back.

Smells bright and creamy. Feels sunny and elegant — like a golden garden bathed in soft light.

This is so intoxicating! Any indoles or sharpness from the Tuberose is smoothed out. On me this is a grown up warm beachy gourmand Tuberose/Lily. So sad it’s discontinued. Found a 50ml for under $75. I think I’ll need a backup. A less creamy more indolic version of this would be Terracotta Le Parfum. I live in humid south texas and this is fantastic! Especially on a breezy night.

Intense white florals with a dusty quality. Undeniable heady tuberose, whipped cream, chestnut, orchid and patchouli. Although the perfumes below are voted as similar, I honestly haven’t found a perfume truly similar. It’s incredibly unique and unusual and definitely draws interest. Performance isn’t the best. I got super lucky with a 50ml bottle a few years ago after it was discontinued and still have the body cream which are safely boxed up from many years ago!

I absolutely love this fragrance. I purchased this before it was discontinued, I’m so happy to have it in my collection. This to me a floral beach scent, leaning more floral than sunscreen. It doesn’t last to long on me but it shifts into very close to skin and becomes a personal scent. So sweet with sophistication, not in an immature fragrance at all. Tom Ford creation are decent but this is a stand out! Unfortunately it’s discontinued which is sad, but I’m thinking that some of the others can be compatible. If you can get it for a reasonable price pick it up.

What a strange, intoxicating bouquet. Poisoned cemetery lilies and a tuberose from Persephone's corsage. There is a mealy, edible accord that dominates the first 10 minutes - yeast wake pancakes? And above all this funeral splendor, the otherworldly balsamic veil of something really close to Tiger balm. Who's wake is it? Orchid's, for it's nowhere to be found. Can't decide if I love it or hate it. PS Reading the reviews, I understand that the pancakes was actually corn. Yep, it gets pretty corn-ey in the middle, but thankfully it goes away for the drydown.

Creamy sickly sweet white floral. Not for me.

Skin chemistry is weird indeed - on me this is a rubbery, medicnial, chemical mess. People are saying creamy lovely floral, it could not be the farthest from it on my skin! Might have to try it another day as I did have something beneath several hours ago but it's a rubbery medicine to me now. TBC!

I adore this scent and am heartbroken that it is discontinued. It smells so comforting and creamy and luxurious, unlike anything else I've smelled. My bottle from 2016 is almost empty, so I've used it sparingly since I didn't want to run out. Last year my best friend got me a rollerball of it for my birthday, which was one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received. I have only beautiful, happy memories attached to Orchid Soleil, I will love this perfume forever.

I don’t understand why this was ever discontinued😢 One of the best from Tom Ford. I treasure my last bottle of this and Orchid Soleil layers wonderfully with Gucci Bloom.

all these mixed reviews are so funny to me. on me, this perfume is absolute perfection -- a gorgeous, balanced, well blended juicy creamy floral, sweet but not too sweet. lightens up my mood instantly and grounds me at the same time. and it doesn't smell like anything else i know/have. this is my signature scent and I get sooooo many compliments on it. it's not gourmand but definitely makes people want to sniff my neck. skin chemistry is a crazy thing

Tough opening, on my skin it smelled medicinal, but the air around me was surrounded by soft tuberose, which smelled really nice, but that tuberose scent is gone, and all that remains is that medicinal scent, just a little less harsh. I'll let this one settle on me for a while before I give my final judgment, but I do wish they skipped the pink pepper and cypress opening in the fragrance Edit: Okay, it's been 15-20 mins, and the medicinal scent is all I can smell now. The lingering tuberose note is not even there anymore, and I can't smell any whipped cream, chestnut or vanilla. I might have to let go of this one since the worst note of the fragrance doesn't go away on my skin :(

IF you are missing this badly: You may want to consider Robert Piguet's Mademoiselle Piguet. The big difference is you get NO "corn tortilla" note from M.P. and the "whipped cream" note is not as realistic (but there is a "creaminess" in there) . M.P. IS a creamy heady warm white floral with an intoxicating almond note. It's also VERY distinctive. M.P. is not overly expensive either - it's cheaper than Fracas (which I do not quite understand).

I am SOoooo sad that this gas been discontinued. I get how this fragrance can be polarising. However, for me, this is how tuberose should be. Very feminine and creamy. Yes, it has that creamy or fluffy tortilla scent. Well, who doesn’t like it anyway?? I have never even considered Black Orchid. Packaging and scent-wise, i’d rather have this any day. Please come back Soleil!!🙏😭
