Orchidée Vanille

I think I have already left more than one review here. But I gotta do it again. I've just read a part of a review from another member, for a different fragrance, but it instantly reminded me of this gem: "this made me not buy several fragrances as I kept thinking “yea, but I have **OrchidéeVanille in my case**, don’t need this”. I can't even tell how many times I gave up on much praised fragrances after I finally tested them, because I was underwhelmed. Because it was in the genre, but still inferior to my OC. I can't even remember a single vanilla dominant that I bought ever since I got this. And it's been a looong while. A decade I'd guess. I hope that the formula is still intact and that the new ones deliver the same goodness as my old bottle. I can see myself repurchasing Orchidée Vanille over any other gourmand currently available and known to me.

This feels like a spicy, slightly powdery and musky candied vanilla that's not too sweet. The florals give it more of a well-rounded perfumey fragrance rather than gourmand. Performs better in the heat.

This is in the gourmand category for me, the sweet vanilla and powdery notes together give Dr Oetker pudding powder with ladyfinger biscuits. This is very specific but I've been eating them since I was a child and the scent association is too strong. It's a well-made fragrance overall, I just can't image where I would want to smell like literal pudding powder...

It reminds me to Dior's Bois D'Argent. Upon spraying, I can detect a bit sharp mandarin then quickly turns into mandarin-lychee whip cream. Vanilla and tonka beans come later, and it stays longer. There's floral note there that I suppose iris. I can no longer smell the juice within a foot from my wrist after 10 minutes. But surprising after washing my hand, it stays. But the price is too much for such weak performance.

I love this perfume. It is a subtle powdery Vanilla. I don't mean baby powder, I just mean light and airy. It is not your standard sweet chantilly cream vanilla we get from so many of the vanillas seen today. To my nose I get a light citrus in the top, and in the dry down a base of vanilla, tonka and a hint of almond. The only problem...It is incredibly light and does not last on skin. You will need to reapply and and/or spray a lot on your clothes. If that deters you from paying the hefty price, I suggest checking discounter websites. The bottle is beautiful and I am happy to have it in my collection.

Very elegant vanilla. The scent is as classy as the bottle. Can smell a bit like playdough

Airy vanilla, almonds and violets. Fluffy, sweet and magical. Fit for an entire year if you like vanilla. It is both sweet and light, warm and dry. I think it is similar to my beloved Vanilla Fields that in childhood I gifted to my Mother. I loved it so. My husband noticed it trailing after me, sweet like candy floss. Very beautiful. I love scents from this Van Cleef&Arpels collection. This has a good presence on me despite being on the light side. It is not a heavy blend. I feel suspended in a multifaceted sweet vanilla-almond-violet cloud. Upping it to love for how gorgeous it smells this cool summer evening. Lasts well.

This is very pretty but only lasts for a few minutes. Seriously, every time I spray this it's gone like 10 minutes later. To me it smells like a slightly floral vanilla chocolate until it fades into nothing a second later. Is something wrong with my nose? I've tried quite a few scents from this house but only ended up falling in love with one, which is Santal Blanc.

I've been trying to convince myself I like this for years, and I think it's time to give up. Maybe someday will bottle will macerate to the point where I won't be able to smell whatever it is I'm smelling. Maybe it's the lychee, mixed with the bitter almonds, that makes me smell something akin to vomit, something very fat and buttery and kinda acidic..Not sure what it is but it smells like baby vomit to me, I'm not getting any chocolate, any cocoa, any florals, and the vanilla smells like it was regurgitated or something. Maybe it's that lychee combo that gets me, I'll have to look for alternatives.

This is the most beautiful, well blended masterpiece. This sits so well on my skin, lasts all day and just has me stunned at how gorgeous this is. I purchased from Selfridges and it is worth every dollar. I have been chasing something just as good and alas, no matter the sample, no matter the purchase, nothing compares and I don’t think it ever will. Given how much I have already used it won’t be long until I buy another bottle. May they never discontinue this fragrance!!

Orchidee Vanille is one of those aspirational perfumes in my mind - it's the scent of a naturally-pretty, elegant, high-class girl. It's a powdery-sweet, floral vanilla with a hint of almond and tart fruits. It has a slightly vintage, powder room vibe. It's nice, but something about it doesn't fully capture my attention. I am typically a fan of powdery scents, but there's something a little stifling about this.

Usually not the biggest fan of sweet perfumes, but smelled this one on my friend and honestly loved it. The smell is powdery, the vanilla comes out once it dries on my skin and I feel like it smells very feminine. It could be more long lasting tho, but works for me.

I do not enjoy this at all. I do feel very proemintly the swettened orchid flower. But it feels heavy sugary and unpleasant and thick. Not matching my skin chemistry. And I am extremely upset when I see everybody loves a perfume that I do not understand or like.

Dreamy, airy, powdery, cozy. This fragrance activates my parasympathetic nervous system. It relaxes me. Calms me down. But don't think this is a light fragrance. It is strong. Very potent. 2 sprays and I'm all set. It does lean a little bit grandma-ish but at the same time it doesn't. There is something magic about it.

The audacity to charge high prices for an invisible scent is beyond me. I would've loved it if I could actually smell it, I really need to dig my nose in to get a whiff and the actual whiff is beautiful, but hardly there...

I think I might be anosmic to the opening, but it settles down to a boozy yet airy vanilla, bolstered by almond-like sweetness and some soft woods. Too soft, in fact. Wish this projected more and lasted longer, but alas, not for me. There are other boozy vanillas out there that’s worth your money.

I remember this one was all the rave a while ago, and while it still is pretty popular, I couldn’t quite grasp the hype. My first notes on this one were «vodka vanilla? Ice cream sauce? Sweet but not too thick» And with that I just forgot about my sample until now. Two years later, but I still agree with my first notes. Now it has macerated a bit, and the juice is a deep brown with a lilac hint. It is fruitier than I remembered it and it is powdery in a completely different way. Maybe it is my nose that has evolved but who knows? The powdery violet has some tendencies to lean over into that make-up powdery realm, but I tend to enjoy that. The fragrance itself is still dominated by vanilla and tonka which makes it a thick and sweet gourmand. But what makes the biggest difference in that two years are how I perceive the citrus, rose and lychee. I get that fresh twist that really helps that cloying vanilla, and the watery rose gives a lightness which actually makes this wearable for me, even though it is sooooo sweet. Even though I would say this one has a tendency to be slightly juvenile I could still understand the mass appeal for all ages, and even all genders to like and appreciate this scent. So maybe that is why I have been hesitant to review this? I wish I could like it more than I actually do.

@perpetualcollector niche fragrance is for everyone, people are free to use any adjectives they fancy to describe how fragrance smells to them, and you sound like a pompous ass. That grumpy, fancy cat is the perfect profile picture for you, actually. Lol Now, to the matter at hand - Orchidée Vanille is nice. Soft, warm, airy vanilla and slightly tart mandarin and lychee. I wish I got as much of the fruity notes on my skin as I do on paper, but it tends to go a bit playdoughy on me. Still, the little bit of tartness I do get is pleasant. Not full bottle worthy, but enjoyable to wear.

Dreamy, diaphanous and softly warm. Feels like being in a misty garden at dawn, surrounded by dewy violets and roses, as the first light of the sun warms the horizon. Mandarin and lychee bring this dewy quality to the composition, along with a touch of luminosity. The vanilla is airy, humid and translucent, dusted with a soft, powdery creaminess, like a pale fog infused with the scent of delicate flowers. It's sweet yet soft and elegant, with intimate projection.

It’s quite weak so it should be a good office-perfume. I’m not sure what I think of it. I love vanilla scents usually but I do not think this is a beautiful vanilla scent... I think it smells like an old lady perfume.

Smells so powdery and sweet! Smells incredible layered over with brown sugar babes hot chocolate — the first time I tried it originally pulled too green and floral on my skin, but maybe consider layering with more vanilla and sweetness if you had the same issue. Super sweet yet soft, can’t wait to wear it everyday
