if you do not like dry, dusty fragrances, turn around this isnt for you. the vanilla is very interesting, if youve ever smelled vanilla extract, thats whats its like. and its entirely separate from the rest of the fragrance, its like a stereo record where the drums and vocals are on the left and the guitar and synth are on the right. The minty basil in the opening is wonderful
the opening reminds me of this hermes soap and lotion set my mom uses specifically for decoration (vert something), mossy basil and spicy carnation with some citrus lift, then boom jasmine leather for the rest of the time . its like a more filled out kouros sport to me, but darker . i got mine from an antique shop so i assume its vintage . if you want a masc floral and enjoy leather its for you . very classy and different, as fresh as the opening is, i dont think id wear on a hot day again
Also, for those calling this a barber shop or shaving gel type scent, I'm not picking that up due to the overwhelming rose/jasmine notes. If it was more of a barber shop or shaving gel scent, I would be able to appreciate it. But the one I bought this year from Burlington is way too much synthetic, floral notes that don't seem to evolve into anything masculine and it stays at the middle notes and the base notes seem to be missing for me.
I expected better from this but it's terrible and I think it's due to the blend of the rose and jasmine notes. Those synthetic floral scents seem to take over the whole scent profile and is not a pleasing aroma to me. It smells more like a rancid type of medicinal syrup. This is more disappointing to me than Dior Farenheit. I can appreciate the gasoline smell of Farenheit but this stuff does not seem to have any notes that I will like.
The sheer number of mouth-breathing dimwits on this website is simply staggering.
If you antiques collector and you don't mind smell like your grandfather then this for you. This super sharp and strong barber shop perfume very similar to those perfume borne in the 1980 like aramis, quorum,.... very spicy and citrus bombs doesn't suits young crowds.
Wonderful 80s time machine in a bottle. One spray and my chest sprouted a lustrously thick shag carpet of hair. My actual hair grew out and formed itself into a mullet. My clothes turned pastel and my car transformed into a Pontiac Fierro. Let's go. Like shaving cream with light touches of citrus plopped onto a thick dirty swatch of leather. If you don't know what people mean by "barbershop scent" then this bottle will instantly teach you. Longevity is ok. I am basing this on a new bottle that I have put away for summer and will revisit in about 4-5 months. I really just wanted this so I can experience something that hearkens to my early childhood and is different from all the gourmands, fresh, and overly sweet scents out there. Paid (cad) $25/100ml for a tester bottle. Do I recommend it?, only for the brave and the bold. Spray this on with confidence and you'll either have people avoiding you or girls in their mid 40s with daddy issues swooning over you.
Amazing timeless classic. Fire. I get something in this that is similar to tom ford ombre de hyacinth the discontinued one. Any ideas 🤔?!
The worst. This think stinks
I wanted to like this but it is rough. It smells like a urinal cake in a barbershop. It has staying power unfortunately. Not a safe blind buy.
A NICE CITRUS OFFERING, BUT LACKS POTENCY, NAMELY SILLAGE. HAS A GOOD LONGEVITY, THOUGH. 2ND AND LAST BUY.
It’s a very vintage, classic scent. I’d recommend for an older audience. Super masculine. Wasn’t for me, I gave my bottle away after a few attempts of wearing it. Not a safe blind buy in my opinion. Try get your nose on it first as I’d say it’s very particular.
Classic 80' powerhouse, uber masculine, still incredily potent in its current formulation and bound to offend noses addicted to sweet inoffensive fragrances.
pretty mediocre. this was the first fragrance i purchased after a long time of nothing overall, it's generally appealing in light doses but only if you want to smell better than Axe body spray. as far as being a good scent, i wouldn't recommend. you get what you pay for. you're better off saving up for a 10ml of a proper perfume and getting better value
Fresh spicy powerhouse scent with cinnamon and herbs. Classy, smooth, refined. The modern formulation lasts all day and is of excellent quality. If you like classics and want something great for the winter, this is a good option. 7.5/10
Truly hated this one, I did. Threw out the first, then-new bottle I had about 15 years back because it persisted in smelling like someone emptied their morning piss into artificially sweetened lemonade. Horridly skanky. Some years go by. I rolled the dice on a second bottle. It wasn't quite as bad as the first but I still couldn't tolerate that hint of pissiness. There was somebody who did not perceive it as I did, so I gave it away. Now that 2nd bottle has returned to me after it sat in a box for a few years. Somehow the pissiness is gone. Not a trace. Everything else that's supposed to be there per note listings seems to be there. It's still not a favorite and likely won't be, but it's not unpleasant and I will break it out occasionally.
I tried...I really tried to enjoy this fragrance. After more than a year of on and off wearing, I just can't get passed it being "ok." The version I had was the modern one. The opening is screechy. As it develops, it becomes better but not amazing. From what I've read, the vintage versions are smoother overall.
Opens with dry, bright citrus that's backed up with that oh-so-familiar 80's oakmoss/carnation combo. As it dries down, you get the leather. It's a pretty skanky, animalic leather. Kind of barnyardy. Very bold and masculine, but a little rough around the edges.
This one is a classic, comforting, fresh, masculine, all-round green. It reminds me of smelling my dad when I was a kid. He'd wear stuff like this and Paco Rabanne PH. The crowd that stinks up my workplace with their sweet soy boy frags will probably hate this. Good. I'm counting on it.
80's classic barbershop scent in a cheap presentation. Longevity is like 2 hours on my skin. If you have a similar scent, this will be redundant.
Its an old school Itallian citrus bomb. There is a spiciness that reminds me of Jaipur, but it leans more to the leather scent than Jaipur's powdery. Both are for the mature wearer who wants something different than the blue or sweet frags that have dominated the market for the last 30 years. I really honestly dont get the pissy/urine scent, but that's just me. Your skin might give off that scent when Versace is worn so maybe find a sample or decant. For what I paid ($20)for the full bottle it was worth the risk. I get a strong 10 hours and it doesn't take a lot of sprays. It worked in the winter and fall months and even in the spring as the slight warmth brings out the citrus notes. The summer might be pushing it,but by that time my bottle will be done. Im glad I took the risk on this one
The best Versace. Smells quintessentially male. Actually once the opening barrage subsides(the pissiness does linger a bit longer on fabric) this doesn’t feel dated in the slightest. Just classically clean, cozy and masculine.
A clean and gentlemanly men's fragrance from the 80s to the present day. Timeless classic of cologne-like musk scents. A masculine chypre perfume that every man will love. Very affordable for a Versace perfume.
Don’t let the opening throw you off. It settles quickly into a refined, classic chypre that reminds me of Chanel’s Pour Monsieur EDP, though this one comes across as a bit more budget in comparison. The citrus at the start does have a slightly sharp, almost sour edge, but it only hangs around for a few minutes before smoothing out. Overall, it’s still a solid pick if you enjoy this traditional style. I actually find it more wearable and less dated than Aramis, which gives it an edge in everyday use.
Smells like dunhill for men but less woodsy and floral and more citrus, in the air they’re basically the same and smells nothing like one man show
Lemon and leather right off the top. There's basil and assorted greenery too but that leather bullies its way to the front and demands immediate notice. Absolutely sir, right this way. In the middle I get…you guessed it, more leather. The carnation, rose, and jasmine peek over the mound of leather, but we know what this fragrance is about. Into the base the cedar finally comes through alongside some musky slightly tonka sweet oakmoss, but make no mistake the leather takes on an animalic almost pissy vibe, kicking its boots up on the table and nods as if to say "Yep, I'm the man." This is leather's world in Versace L'Homme and we're all just living in it; this is very masculine.
Old world fragrance It's not for those that follow current trends. It needs confidence to wear.. Opens with a hit of citrus .. but not a clean citrus. More the citrus you might smell walking thrpugh an orchard in Spain Sicily or the peloponnese. It is very old barber shop , something a lot of young people have never experienced Citrus ( especially lemon but bergamon and neroli) is it's main scent on the open but also a strong basil zestiness which gives it that love or hate opening. Soon brings in some spicy woodsy and a kind of Italian leather shoes notes Dry down is that old fashioned green moss sandlewood , red flower carnation rose.. some musk and Patchouli tonka There's a lot going on in this witch's brew It's not going to suit people who want to smell like generic bubble gum and lolliwater. It's really a throw back to the time when men were men and perfumery was an art The nose behind the original version was created by French master perfumer Roger Pellegrino who was also the creator of Cacharel Anaïs Anaïs,Giorgio Armani Eau Pour Homme ,Jacques Bogart One Man Show,Van Cleef & Arpels Gem.. I don't think fragrance dates .. it's a metaphysical.. though fashions change but style is always present Like I said, you need confidence to pull some of these off. The world lacks character as people chase what's currently in Try this if you're serious about fragrance Is it great? That's subjective ..I find it solid but not stellar! Is it for everyone? Shit no! But if you want to feel like you're in a village near Syracusa Sicily, or theThe Lemon Forest of Poros ,Peloponnese If you're only going to dwell in modern urban cities and go to bars and clubs.. this isn't for you!
I blind bought this about 2 months ago and I liked it but whatever you do NEVER LET IT SIT IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT for more than like a week because I forgot to put it in my closet and now it smells kinda like piss. Still not a safe blind buy for some
Funny story When I first got into fragrance, and my nose wasn't as acclimated to nuance, I thought Bijan was a chypre because it's so green and the sharper and spicier notes hid the tonka and lavender. As time went on, I smelled more fougères, and my nose developed, I recognized it for what it was. This is what Bijan was to me, when my nose was less acclimated to distinctions. There is a little tonka and vanilla there, smoothing things out in the base, but the prevailing features are the greenness, mossiness, and blend of citrus, spices, and spicy florals. If you like Bijan and like Chypres, this is affordable enough to be considered mandatory. The leather note is nice and nuanced, blending well with everything in the chypre cocktail. The verdant sharpness is wet and lush. It's a beautiful, classic kind of vibe, without being so vintage that it might alienate some wearers.
Upon first spray some may panic & proceed to scan their immediate surroundings for Chuck Norris thinking he had just ambushed them with a golden shower. Why Chuck? Only Chuck Norris could piss something this awesome. Dries down to a leathery Boucheron Pour Homme. Performance does leave some to be desired however when something smells as good as this for the price I’m paying what do I care. 8/10
