Tony Iommi Monkey Special

The best fragrance for a night out. Whether that’s to a bar, a club or a date in a mature setting like a nice restaurant. This works extremely well. Maybe go less on the sprays if it’s for a date though because this stuff is extremely strong! It’s smoky, boozy, leathery passion fruit with some sweetness to it. Absolutely incredible fragrance. My only regret is that I got the 50ml instead of the 100ml. Even so, with how little of it you have to use per wearing, it’ll last a long time anyway.

I can't believe how it dries down so similarly to Baraonda.

In the oppening you will smell the combo of rum and passionfruit which will give you fresh beer effect which is pleasant. After some time, you will smell nice bubblegum effect and after that in the drydown beautiful patchouli. This is what I like about niche fragrances- different, nice for wearing and with good longevity, but not overpowering.

Oh my, this smells so _sexy_ on me! I feel like I love it more every time I wear it. My initial vote was a "like," but I'm upgrading it to a "love". It's amazing. Honestly, this is what I wish Kilian's Black Phantom smelled like. 🖤

This is my favorite fruity fragrance. That's the way I think about this one, a fruity fragrance. Everything else in the composition either supports the fruitiness, or adds that dirty cocktail vibe. I am brought back to a bar drinking cocktails that smelled exactly like this, including the hint of smoke in the air and a touch of body sweat. You can drink the anticipation of the night to come. Its seductive through the memory of great evenings had in the past. Maybe others don't get this because they haven't yet lived the life I have nor had the memories I can see in my mind's eye.

Beautiful... 9/10 for me. I remember when my first sample arrived, love at first sniff like nothing else. It's the smokey boozy slightly fruity burnt sugary patchouli... That blend is really impressive. So smooth. Say what you want about Xerjoff but the guys know how to work patchouli. Richwood comes to mind immediately. You can really feel the olfactive bridge between the two scents, they are linked by this way of bringing patchouli to life. Neorio also comes to mind but it is too close to Monkey Special. Although I've learned to differentiate them. Anyways, after the sample it took 2 weeks for me to pull the trigger and I'm glad I did. It's a dark pleasure at every spray.

Tony Iommi Monkey Special Xerjoff is a real performance beast with a dark scent that is made in a very balanced,classic,special way that makes the whole scent experience very pleasant and attractive. The scent is very reminiscent of Kilian Paris perfumes that specialize in an alcoholic gourmand atmosphere, which is exactly what is here. It's unapologetic, addictive, and one of the few fragrances that still gives me goosebumps every time I wear it. Masterpiece.

Did you know that this fragrance has its own soundtrack? Tony Iommi himself actually recorded a track together with the Xerjoff founder (who is also a guitarist). This shit isn't even nuclear, this is neutron star supernova galactic threat explosion level. When I bought it, I sprayed it once on my leather jacket. Four weeks later, I went for vacation to Santorini. Took Naxos as my daily fragrance, but I brought the same leather jacket with me and I put it in the hotel room wardrobe, then I closed it. It was warm so I didn't need the jacket. When I opened the wardrobe 5 days later to pack for my flight I got hit by a flashbang of Monkey Special, still from the leather jacket. You can probably smell it inside to this day. As for the scent, in the same hotel, by coincidence a pool bartender brought me his signature cocktail for free, he told me some of the ingredients are secret, but he can tell me it has vanilla, passion fruit and rum. When I took a sip I immediately remembered my leather jacket in the wardrobe. It does also have a tiny bit of that old lady "rose scented hand cream" quality to it, which luckily isn't too strong, but it might be an issue for some. I like rose so I'm okay with it. If you too like Chanel Egoiste you'll be right at home. Being a metalhead myself, I don't really see the "heavy metal" in this fragrance, it doesn't have the same dark, brooding quality as the music, I think it's more cheerful due to the passion fruit, although it certainly has a heavy presence. People will definitely smell you inside a concert venue. And probably those walking outside in front of it as well. It's not something you wear daily. Very easy to get tired of. Just like listening to metal for 24 hours a day, including sleep. But it is addicting in a way. You will find yourself reaching for the bottle and smelling it over and over if you're in the right mood. Which for me is maybe a few days in a month, not more. But then I'm glad it's sitting on my shelf and it will be there for a while, probably. Also: the bottle design is the bomb. And it comes in a leather packaging. AND you get a guitar pick (a shitty one, but a guitar pick nonetheless). Pretty cool to have in your collection as a guitarist. 10/10 presentation.

In the middle of summer i bought decants of G&B Bohemian Lime, Sospiro Vibrato and Tonny Iommi Monkey special, i was thinking i was gonna probably buy Vibrato and Bohemian Lime, but boy when i smelled Monkey special, i immediately sprayed myself with it (luckily the night was cool lol) it is so addictive i love it i went in and immediately bought it along with Bohemian Lime lol. 10/10

I bought it only two weeks ago, and I want to say that it has become my signature evening scent for parties. It's like an explosion of fragrance in your face. It makes a very powerful and bold statement. A very sexy and rebellious scent with a huge scent trail. When you wear it, you'll imagine yourself as a rock star or a cool biker. But this fragrance isn't suitable for every occasion, it's too agressive. To me, it smells like spicy, smoky, boozy passion fruit wrapped in a black leather jacket. Over time, the scent softens, becoming less aggressive.

Rum + caramel. Can be polarizing

I used to hate this scent, but revisiting it a year later it’s now my favorite rum fragrance. It smells like a biker who moonlights as a baker. He makes homemade banana bread, soaks it in Jack Daniels, leaves it in the fridge, then heads out for a ride. Later that night, he comes home, still wearing his leather jacket, drizzles the dish with caramel and cinnamon, and takes a bite. You’ll either think this smells rancid or like a boozy, leathery, patchouli sweet-and-spicy masterpiece. This is an extroverted fragrance. It’s loud, unapologetic, and gets strong reactions when ive worn it. Some people will love it, others won’t. Wear it because you love it. The right people will find you.

I have a feeling I've smelled this somewhere before. It's fruity boozy and sweet. The opening made me frown a little, but the dry down is quite unique and impressive. However, I tried it in the summer, so I haven't fully appreciated it yet; it would probably be better in the winter. The sillage and projection is monstrous.

At the forefront a earthy, passionfruit saturated leather..ripe with unapologetic attitude, the type that crafted the whips that excited Rihanna in her song "S&M". Not your rudimentary safehaven of overly sweetened metrosexual cologne or another Aventus inspired spin-off, so impulsive 1st impressions can be misleading. An attention getter but not an attention seeker..gutsy & brimming with audacity, the nature of the fragrance can contradict with the appearance of the wearer so compatibility can present a issue for some. For those who can embrace the scent of reckless abandon & wanton lust..please wear responsibly.

Loud, in your face, I'm here type of fragrance, of course I love this, I have backup bottle of this just for personal use, but can't really be worn anywhere though. It's too loud. Only at a beach's bar in a cold windy evening time is where i see myself wearing this.

Yeah Baby!!! Bring on the stink! There is no refinement here. This fragrance makes me want to go animal - in a good bad way. Monkey Special is beastly. One spray and I can smell it 14 hours later. Once I walked into a room and my daughter started screaming for me to open a window. Later, my wife asked me if I could smell the strange animalistic odor…. I love Monkey Special!

The opening of this is very earthy/smoky I think its pretty much pure leather and smoke I am getting not too pleasant honestly but there is a subtle sweetness trying to come through which is nice. 1hr in its still just very smoky/leathery I was hoping the sweetness would come out a bit more. I am starting to get a clear caramel smell from the sweetness but its just masked so much 2 hours in its actually quite pleasant now the smokiness has now taken a backseat to the vanilla and caramel so it's a sweet scent with a smoky backdrop rather than the other way round. Eventhough I hated the strong smokiness. Even though it's alright now im a bit disappointed as by the note breakdown I thought I would love this. It's not that special now there's not much going on literally just sweet and smoke. Overall: 3.3/5 Update: about 8 hours after applying it smells unreal now, really subtle well mixed caramel sweetness with no smokiness for me anymore. It's not massively potent now but of course it's been ages. I'd give the current scent a 4.4 probably, not changing rating though as not ideal that it takes so long to be a scent I like

Used to be my fav scent ever after I sampled it but when I bought the full bottle it was a lot more sweet, too sweet even and patchouli HEAVY. Maybe I got a bad batch. decent scent tho

To me, the rose overpowers everything else.

Wow. This stuff really does smell like a rockstar. Imagine a guy in a leather jacket drinking booze and smoking cigarettes. Masterfully blended and long lasting. The only problem is finding a situation to wear this in 😅.

I really enjoy this fragrance. After about 20 minutes, the intense rum note settles down, revealing a fantastic dark and sweet scent.

This fragrance to me is very visual, I vividly picture fun night life in the 70s and 80s. Perhaps at a huge lit up vegas casino or music venue. Just a very fun and confident scent. Smells very old school to me even though I don't know of any vintage scents like this, it just gives that old school cool feeling. It's definitely not your typical "smell good" perfume, this is for making a big statement on a night out.

Unique af high quality complex bit on the nose and too intense it feels busy and fatiguing Might have different experience in colder weather. I like it overall definitely a must experience/have type of scent i highly recommend sampling, i wouldn’t buy full bottle though

It is very unpleasant in the start, like halfway gag worthy, but trust in the dry down. It transforms into something amazing. For me the notes are missing a big one and that is incense; stuff reeks of the best quality incense with caramel coffee and a more dried passionfruit with a really really smooth rum. So really trust the dry down on this.

A love at first sniff fragrance for me. After going through multiple samples of it, I had to buy the full 100 ml and do not regret it at all (especially as it was through a discounter at a large reduction - always check discounters!). One of my most well recieved fragrances among acquaintances and the general public, most people seem to love this (outside of the outspoken minority here on Fragrantica). Of course, sample before you buy, but it is quite a fantastic scent. Packaging is usually lost on me, but I was impressed with the packaging and presentation for this fragrance. One of the only boxes I've kept.
