In my opinion, this is still the most valuable version of Tuxedo . Longevity: Good SILLAGE: Medium, in fact, the longevity of this perfume is not so high that it is boring! Not too diffuse to surround the entire space, everything is in proportion and a balanced scent suitable for business and formal meetings and even romantic dates❤️ and the best time to use it is in the evening or evenings 💫Autumn and winter⛈️🌧️, Suitable style: Preferably formal style 👔
I have a decant. Gentleman scent. Date night or special occasion for sure! Older man profile. 35+ years old. Super put together man vibes. Solid choice. 8.5/10
Absolute perfection. A wonderful rose, vanilla, and pepper fragrance. Makes for a perfect signature scent.
Floral-soapy opening, smooth and well blinded and refined structure. Soapiness integrated nicely instead of standing out too much by itself. Middle transition - the violet and patchouli are more apparent; this is the main signature profile of Tuxedo. The dry down remains smooth and classy but becomes faint on skin with a lingering sweet suede-like leather. BETTER OPTIONS - Clones Ighwa by French Avenue is more sweet accord throughout the whole development of the scent, with better longevity and porjection. Tuxedo focuses on Violet mostly Rochas Moustache focuses more on leathery dry-down emphasis off the initial spray, and maintaining that profile with no other development.
Upon initial spray, I was met with a fresh blast of aromatics. Can definitely pick up the coriander but also caught something like juniper berry. As it dries down, the patchouli steps forward and is supported by vanilla and a musky accord. I wanted to radiate this and smell it constantly but it is definitely a bit of a ghost and only appears intermittently throughout the day as a soft whisper before going silent. Definitely a great scent but not a monster by any means.
9.3/10 Yea just an absolute masterpiece. This is the only thing that gets close to the DNA of farenheit le Parfum by Dior. Tuxedo is definitely more vanilla heavy than farenheit Le Parfum, and the nuances of the opening fade in the dry down and your left with a very pleasant patchouli vanilla scent. An absolute banger from YSL.
This PureBlack replica is nowhere near as good as Bugatti's original masterpiece. Try that if you had the honor of finding the original one...
This is a spicy green tobacco with lavendar which dries down to a sweet salty clean vanilla. It smells so familiar, like a sweet fougere so it's kind of mass appealing but the sharpness of it gives it a distinct quality, it's a cold herbal sharpness not a metallic synthetic one. I can imagine it would boost your confidence when you spray it. It's very grown up and smells kind of serious. The dry down is sweeter and more cozy but is more of a synthetic or lighter patchouli as natural patchouli is usually more complex, earthy, and chocolatey to me. The dry down is kinda like what I imagine holding a cigar after eating something sweet would smell like.
I recently tried the sharp patchouli version and I did like it but I wanted to see how the og smelled so I tracked down a decant. The batch is 22Y11T and the ingredients code is N291974/1. Smell wise, I’m getting the vanilla and rose way more prominently here. The new sharp patchouli was way more sharper, spicy, earthy and woody. The vanilla only showed itself later in the dry down but this one has it very obviously from the beginning. The rose in both of them is pretty similar. Almost potpourri like and pretty jammy rose. In the og, i’m also getting a brandy like smell a little in the air, the coriander note is more prominent and I can smell a little citrus when I smell it up close. The performance on both of them seem to be similar. If I had to nitpick, the sharp patchouli has more projection but that could just be cause it’s a newer bottle. Longevity is pretty great on both. The main differences between them to my nose atleast is that the new sharp patchouli has a sharper opening with more spicy and earthy notes. The vanilla comes through later too so I would say it’s more of a fall scent. But the og has the vanilla front and center making it more well rounded and isn’t as earthy or sharp and the combination of notes has a brandy kind of vibe off my skin in the air. Definitely a sweeter scent so I’d say it would work better in winter. If I had to pick, I kinda like the newer one. I’m a fan of earthy and sharper perfumes. This one is really nice too but it’s definitely got more sweetness off my skin. Overall, it’s up to personal preferences. if you want a sweeter version of this dna, you should look for the og but if you want a sharper earthy version, you can go with the new one. Need to find a decant of the new extrait next and see how that smells.
Amazing smell, although I wish the nice sharp opening would persist longer. Also the performance is just generally really bad. I get less than an hour of projection. I think I’ll just buy a bottle of moustache and see how it goes.
I knew it was going to be one of my favorite scents in my collections the second I bought it at the duty-free store. Been told I smell like a sexy man everytime I wear this out. Lasts forever on me (scent stays on my clothes for weeks) and projects like crazy. Definitely my favorite in the YSL line and one of the best designer fragrances of all time in my opinion.
Like so many that have written below. When I first got it I was enamoured. Now something irritates me or something i dont like. I can smell tobacco in it and rum. Like what your clothes smell after a night out. I dont know what happened and I fell out of love!
Patchouli, burbon vanilla and black pepper. Kind of well balanced so it's hard to dissect. 95% similar to thurati brown. I perosnally don't like the scent. Edit: i have noticed that this and babycat share same ysl burbon vanilla dna, if you like that specific note on here you will love it more on babycat.
To my nose, Sharp Patchouli does indeed have more Patchouli in it and projects more. This might be because its new vs god only knows how old. I like SP more, but this is still good. The vanilla is much more pronounced. It has great projection with 3 sprays and it kept this performance for nearly 6 hours until it faded into a skin scent until I fell asleep. I dig it... 8.75
I personally really enjoy this fragrance even though I am not the biggest fan of spices. The dry down of this fragrance honestly just gives me VERY heavy black pepper and patchouli which adds a nice masculine feel. The more you smell though, the more you understand that this fragrance can be elegant, rather than the punchy earthy and spicy scent. The rose and vanilla pair very nicely together to balance this fragrance out and give it a creamy, smooth feel. This fragrance smells like a million bucks, definitely a more mature, classy scent. This does make it harder to wear but if you can pull it off, you will by far be the best smelling individual wherever you go.
a mixture of savory watery sweetness. like a fairy made a woodland agua de patchouli and wood cubes. Hangs in the air and nose like declaration and dior homme. Creates a thick but still watery environment. HOWEVER thats not the kicker you see! Because in this fragrance theres....a smell from dolce & gabanna light blue lol. so you know its some bullshit. Another reminder that these are just chemicals some of which are added for fixative or simply because they are cost effective versions of the classic designer fragrances
Extremely refined and high quality fragrance. You have to be of certain pose to wear this. If you’re 20 years old and have broccoli hair this fragrance won’t suit you. This is for someone more mature and rugged. Amazing mix of patchouli, rose and coriander.
For me, it leans into a smooth suede note that feels refined, not gimmicky. It smells luxurious, seductive, and never loud. There’s a nostalgic touch, like an old memory you can’t quite place but keep returning to.
This is the ultimate 'special occasion' cologne in my collection. Absolutely divine, i constantly sniff my bottle because i'm too afraid to use it but cant get enough of the smell.
Kesinlikle basit bir koku değil beklediğimden çok daha fresh sadece kışlık değil baharda çok rahat kullanılabilir maalesef performans problemi var ama efsanevi bir koku tester olarak değilde büyük şişe almış olmak isterdim
It says it right in the name - sharp patchouli. Has a faint smokiness to it as it dries down. Definitely can't wear it alone for every occasion but I've found it to be the perfect base to layer with any of your favorite fresh/citrusy frags.
It's a very typically "masculine" scent, it is very well executed, I really get why it's liked, it's fougère and fresh but still sweet in a way only a patchouli perfume can do, and this one is incredibly well thought out ! I wouldn't wear this but I would love smelling this on someone who fits it ! I hope I'll get to smell this on someone soon !
This is a light woody , Oud but not screechy as moustache is . You can consider it lighter and pleasant version of moustache.
Patchouli is no question in my mind one of the best fragrance notes. Tuxedo delivers one of the most pleasant luxurious versions of Patchouli on the market. I have not tried the Extrait version, considering how much I like this one, I'm sure I will love the Extrait 10/10 for me. Beast mode projection, long lasting, brings compliments, can't go wrong with Tuxedo, this is in my Top 10 of all time right now, until I find something better.
This is one of the most patchouli heavy scents on the designer market. What makes me love this fragrance is this warm spiciness from the patchouli and the more discrete black pepper. This is the type of fragrance worn by those refined and sharp leaders in the wintertime. It is not particularly seductive but is incredibly spicy and wearing it will make you feel like the most intelligent and mature person in the room. One of my favorite scents of all time. My two icks are the price and the fact that I can’t smell the vanilla in this…
A very nice scent. I get rose with a hint of spiciness in the background. Pretty mass appealing and simple. Surprisingly, people rate this scent as unisex leaning masculine, but I think this is unisex leaning feminine.
I swear it smelled better when I first tried it, after buy this and using it a while. I don’t know why I liked this the first time. There is something about it I can’t stand anymore maybe the tobacco or some spicy note.
Perfect for if you want to smell like an old female primary school teacher
Tuxedo is a modern classic that manages to feel both refined and effortlessly wearable. From the opening, you get a blend of fresh spices and a subtle brightness that quickly settles into a smooth mix of patchouli and soft sweetness. There’s a richness to it, but it’s never heavy or overwhelming. As it develops, the fragrance becomes more about texture than individual notes. The patchouli is clean and polished, paired with a gentle amber warmth and a touch of sweetness that gives it a slightly dressed-up feel without becoming formal or stiff. What stands out most is the balance. It has presence, but it remains controlled and refined. Nothing feels sharp or aggressive, everything is blended in a way that feels seamless and easy to wear. This is the kind of fragrance that works just as well in professional settings as it does in the evening. It carries a quiet confidence, like a well-tailored suit, put together without trying too hard. Tuxedo doesn’t try to be loud or overly complex. Instead, it delivers a smooth, elegant composition that feels complete from start to finish. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 8.5/10 Projection: 7/10
I fell in love with this scent the first time it touched my nose. In the opening, you get sort of a zesty, floral opening that lasts ~30 minutes. What comes after is astonishing levels of richness, spiciness, unique sweetness that genuinely makes this an addictive, seductive, and smooth fragrance similar to Vanilla Diorama. It lasts 8+ hours on my skin, with decent projection; overall, if you need a signature scent for the winter, GET THIS.
