Opens as a very bright sweet/floral/fruity fragrance. Tropical. Almost juicy. The sweetness reminds me of those soft banana candies. Eventually, the sweetness calms down, striking more of a balance to the fruits and florals. A slight powdery note appears. It gives off fruity/floral soap vibes. I prefer the dry down over the open. Pretty easy wear. Would suit a warm day at the beach or by a pool. It is just not to my tastes and very ylang ylang forward.

opens with bright florals and troipical fruits, but smells chemically and a bit much... dries down into a beautiful tropical coconut once the florals have died down - but soon fades into a generic floral skin scent. Not the best from the house...

Surprisingly accurate representation of walking into a warm porta potty.

On the opening I get… Star fruit and chemicals. An hour in I get star fruit and chemicals. To charge what they do for this is outrageous.

On my skin, Chameleon is a citrus, musky and slightly sweet scent. Opening up with notes of lime, bergamot, lily of the valley, jasmine, followed by musk and sandalwood in the base. First impression, “This is MFK’s Aqua Universalis?”. It’s definitely reminiscent of MFK Aqua line. If you were to take Aqua Universalis, mixed with Aqua Celestia Cologne Forte with a bit more sweetness and a stronger Jasmine note, what you will get is Chameleon. Shifting over from the cold weather Cardinal and onto the hot, tropical, color changing Chameleon, let’s see what this one is about. As a quick aside, chameleons do not actually change color to match their surroundings but instead shift based on mood and temperature, which honestly fits this fragrance pretty well. The opening is, well, interesting to say the least. There is a lot going on with tropical fruit like mango and bergamot mixed with yellow florals like ylang ylang. It comes off bright at first, but there is a weirdness underneath it. The fruit smells like it has been sitting out in the sun too long, like you are on a beach vacation and forgot about a fruit basket on your balcony all day. It is still sweet, but it starts to lean overripe and slightly off. I feel like the starfruit might be what is pushing it in that direction. After about 20 to 30 minutes, the frangipani comes in and changes things a bit. It adds a creamy, almost powdery feel that sometimes comes across like a soft banana note. The white florals back up the ylang ylang and give the fragrance more body. But at the same time, there is something else in the background that I cannot ignore. There is a faint urinous note mixed in with the powdery and slightly salty skin like quality, and it just does not sit right. At around the three hour mark, the drydown is easily the best part. It turns into a smoother blend of vanilla, opoponax, musk, sandalwood, velvety chasmeran, and amber with some leftover tropical fruit in the background. This stage is much more wearable and actually pretty nice compared to everything that came before it but still not good. I am really not a fan of Chameleon. On paper it sounded like something I might enjoy, but on my skin it really went south. The best way I can describe the scent is like you ate a bunch of PEZ candy and then walked into a porta-potty and got sick. Zoologist says “Whether you desire to shroud yourself in an air of mystery, or blatantly flaunt your true colours, Chameleon becomes you.” Well then I guess I became an old fruit basket in the tropics that a howler monkey decided to mark its territory with.

The dry down is pleasant, mildly tropical and slightly sweet. The opening however is straight up portapotty, no bueno

This opens with a lovely sweet fruity note, which if I had to liken it to anything, would be orange sherbet. Probably the star fruit talking. It then settles down into a slightly spicy woody note - not quite patchouli, so probably the clove, saffron and wood notes all hanging out together. The fruity part lasts a couple of hours, and the woody note hangs around much longer. I’m sad to see this is now discontinued but I have just bought a travel spray size from Zoologist (they now ship direct to the UK) so maybe it’ll still be available from them until they run out.

The opening of this, to me, smells like urinal cakes. but the dry down is nice. this fragrance is now discontinued, which is fine because I think the new edition is superior.

my only zoologist full bottle, and one of their most original yet safe creations its a green tropical, an exotic fresh smell with a subtle fruity sweetness in heart. I get beautiful creamy woods and salt, a mix of tender tropical fruit (mostly coconut, juicy oranges (mandarins?) and mango, but not overly sweet), and lots of marine-green notes. smells like a walk in coastal tropics. it has lots of facets, constantly changing from sweeter to green to creamy to fresh. chameleon is a perfect name for it. its a sunny and energetic fragrance, for those who are looking for a green scent with a twist. the trail is fantastic

Анонім

Juicy and fragrant right off the bat. I was excited for this scent just from reading the notes. I was immediately greeted by the fruit and ylang, but within half an hour, it all dissipated, not even leaving so much as a vanilla or amber base note. It must be something to do with my skin chemistry, but as much as I wanted to love this scent, the longevity leaves much to be desired. :/ ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

one of my favourite Zoologists and probably my favourite tropical scent ever. Its very tropical, floral, sweet and unisex leaning a tiny bit feminine because of the florals. Amazing scent and I think this is the best Zoologist for summer. I rate this a 9.6/10

all those fruits in the notes and accords and it's not actually fruity in the way you'd think. i'd say syrupy is more like it. smells like juice concentrate in the hot sun. absolutely amazing

At first, I liked Chameleon because of the unusual mix of tropical florals and fruits. I smell mostly ylang-ylang, frangipani, and starfruit. It's the first time that I'm smelling starfruit in a fragrance, and the tart freshness actually made me crave a starfruit even though I don't actually enjoy them that much. But after applying more than just one dab on my wrist, I felt like actually it doesn't smell good on me. Something is kind of off-putting. Animalic, or like sour breath? It reminds me of what I don't like about starfruit, it's really reminding me of stale breath. It's like the mix of the particular animalic tropical florals with the tart fruits is not smelling pleasant on me. Not a safe blind purchase, even though I thought it would be safer than other Zoologist perfumes.

First impression (on skin): Fresh, flowery, soapy, zesty, slightly woody, slightly spicy, strong, sunny, bright, chemically, generic Meh… It didn't blow me away. I wasn't sure what to expect from Chameleon, but I typically love fruity scents and was hoping this would pleasantly surprise me. I didn't find this perfume very original compared to other Zoologist perfumes I've tried. I think I'd be able to find, or had, a perfume that's quite similar to this one. It's just kind of generic. On my skin it projected well and left a strong scent trail behind, then kind of just… fizzled out surprisingly quickly. The fruity and citrus notes weren't giving a tropical vibe, they translated as more artificial and chemically. If you want a clean, fresh smell to “wake you up” during the day, this might be for you. While it's not tropical or beachy, I will say it is a sunny, bright scent - it gets stuck in your nose and tickles, like being outside on a warm summer's day (but it does make me want to sneeze). I did not get aquatic notes from the initial spray or dry down at all like other reviews mentioned. I may try again during summer, maybe it will agree with me more during humid weather. OVERALL RATING: 2/5 RECOMMENDATION: Not recommended as I think you could find a close dupe that's less costly. Location tested: Forearm, shirt Would I purchase a full bottle?: No

Whoa, this one is so cool! The first zoologist scent I've ever tried and I'm really impressed. It brings to mind a vacation on a tropical island with a warm salty breeze caressing sun-kissed skin. I appreciate the bright fruity notes, and while it's been years since I've eaten starfruit, that is the smell I remember. The Ylang-Ylang goes so well with mango and frangipani, coconut and sea salt. It's only a little oceanic on my skin, like looking out onto the ocean from a beach resort, rather than actually swimming it in.

Everytime I smell this I think of fizzy green sherbet. Quirky, novel, fun scent, but not sure why a person would like to smell like this. I think this generally about Zoologist fragrances. But I enjoy their uniqueness and creativity all the same.

This perfume has so many of my favorite notes; Sea notes, pink pepper, violet leaf. Yet this perfume is one of my least favorite from Zoologist. I really was excited to smell this perfume because I love chameleons, but this perfume genuinely smelled like insect repellent. It is so strong and awful! Not a usual citrus nor floral perfume, just nauseatingly chemically and artificially fruity powdery. So bad.

Анонім

I get the ylang ylang more in the beginning and it settles more into a nice, skanky (NOT INDOLIC), embodied jasmine. Not bad!

Анонім

it is suuper heavy on ylang-ylang, it adds this clean and marine vibe to it. It also has it's tropical and fruity side too, but the marine feeling is really sensible which i really like it. It also has a bright lemon smell in the first sniff, and as it dries down you'll get some florals too. On the drydown it sliiightly has this weird, smooth animalic smell. Which don't get me wrong, it's not bad and it's super smooth, i think it's bc of the Skin note. It's not that sensible and i don't think it'd disgust anyone. The chamelon picture in the bottle resembles the smell perfectly, a really chill colorful dude (or a chamelon) who likes his tropical vacations and the times where he just relaxes on the side of the beach. 9/10

On me this one smells like a really musky bar of soap I would find in my grandmother's house, somehow perpetually, as if the supply from the closet never ran out despite how many years passed. Truly not something I wanted but removing it is next to impossible so you gotta ride it out.

Анонім

This definitely smelled as expected and true to its notes. It’s not bad but personally I feel it’s a bit feminine for my tastes. It reminds me more of a girl stepping out of shower who washed her hair and blow drying it. Tropical Suave? Beachy Herbal essence? Coconut dominant shampoo and conditioners? Who knows. But as a fan of zoologist fragrances (and I’m going to review each one), I wouldn’t want to ever smell like this sadly.

Анонім

Very inoffensive, pleasant potpourri of sweet, fruity and green notes. Longevity on my skin is rather poor, stays longer on clothes. Nice but not really groundbreaking, and most definitely not at this price tag.

Анонім

Simply beautiful opening but transitions into a very green almost spicy scent. The opening is very soapy, fruity, yellow floral and almost generic. There's a dirty citrus base note after the initial spray. After the drydown it smells medicinal. You need to test the hell out of this because if you buy based on opening only you're going to be shocked.

Анонім

This has been the most consistent out of all of the Zoologist testers I've tried in that it smells pretty much the same a couple hours after application as it did when first applied. This is probably the most stereotypically "perfumey" one out of everything as well. The opening is a bit powdery, floral, and peppery; it's a bit on the feminine side but also very mature, like something you'd pick up when hugging a friend's mom.

Анонім

This lies somewhere in between comforting and gross. Beautiful because it perfectly replicates the scent of my aunts 07’ CRV but also disgusting because i don’t want to smell like the fuzzy, stained interior of an old car. i don’t know what the occasion for this is, her CRV will smell like that forever regardless of what hour it is and how hot or cold it is outside i’m gonna wash this off now, this is way too thick and synthetic for me.

Blind smelling this on a blotter, it's an ylang ylang bomb but it's rounded quite nicely with invisible fruits. Something about it is very nostalgic to me, like how my mother could have smelled when she was young and everything had a sepia look. Definitely feminine and for ylang ylovers.
