honestly the more i wear my sample the more i like this fragrance. it's so unique and oddly addictive and i'm not even an aquatic fragrance lover at all

Анонім

Was interested in this because I wanted to try aquatic scents. While I am in love with this scent I wouldn't necessarily call it aquatic. It's less like ocean water and more like hospital saline solution. Stale minerality, ink, and baby powder jump out in the opening before settling down into a soft powdery incense. This scent is delicate and bold at the same time.

The first time I tried this, I wanted to puke. It mixed with my skin in this way that resembled the smell of spit and sugar, so I avoided the rest of the sample. Left it alone for a good year+ Then I tried it again a few months ago and was surprised I actually liked it. Just finished off the sample and I really love it. It’s a complex, dark, marine (aquatic and salty), sweet scent. Even though it’s dark, it’s wearable during the day. Sillage is good

Very intense smoky and woody fragrance. There are some moments where I'm reminded of Akro Ink and that one also seems woody to me. I wish it was more like how a ballpoint pen has a sweet ink smell, like blueberries almost. **Edit: I tried this on my skin and it smells soooo much better than on paper. My coworkers agreed it suits me really well. I actually really like this fragrance.

The open for me was spicy/aromatic incense, that stuck around to be accompanied by a slightly sweet and salty inky note. Very unique scent profile. I enjoyed it, although on my skin I don't get any marine/aquatic notes, which was a little disappointing.

Анонім

Personally not for me. I sorta blind bought this for the incense note and aquatic vibe that it gave me. But honestly for me,the pepper and benzoin notes are strong. And like the description says, it does smell briny but in a pickly way. This is probably my first fragrance with somewhat strange notes and i really wish i liked it but. Yeah its just not for me, ill just say it smells like what it is, hense making it unwearable for me. Im greatfull i bought a sample before committing to the full bottle

Have you ever had the squid ink fried rice? That's it. Either way this is a pleasant smell and it does remind you of something "dark", not in a gothic sense though.

Squid has been on my mind for months now. Every now and then, I feel like I can smell squid during random parts of the day. I don’t know why that is, or whether I’m actually smelling it, but it will probably be my next purchase *update: purchased 🦑😼

worth the bottle. .. this is a very gorgeous scent ......

Squid has a sort of spicy/prickly feel to it that made me feel powerful, like I could move through the world more assertively because I was imagining myself as a squid, 🦑 slinky, able to slip between cracks, but also don’t touch me or fuck with me or I’ll ink cloud you. Good for going into a crowded place.

Another complex fragrance from Zoologist. Pink pepper pops right out at the front, then quickly subsides into a sweet, resiny fragrance with an inky (slightly rubbery? But not in a bad way) scent along with salt. Definitely very elegant, but avant garde and may not be everyone’s taste.

Like having a crush on your sea monster tattoo artist. The deep, salt-studded richness at the core evokes slick rolling down a selkie's leg as she turns. Makes me want to eat her oyster. After a few wears, I notice a spiciness in the opening that makes this inky-marine fragrance all the more intriguing. There is an unusual, delectable darkness in this fragrance-- "there must be something in the water."

I think @katvin below has said it all. This is a really beautiful perfume. It doesn’t radiate that much but lasts a long time on my skin & I can smell it around me as I am walking about. Oddly, I don’t get any sea, salt or anything to do with squid - just a beautiful soft floral. Will be buying a full bottle.

My god, I am completely taken aback, this caught me by full surprise. I can confidently say I’ve never smelled anything like it, and the intrigue is immediate. I expected a fresh aquatic smell, but boy was I wrong. It’s really dark and heady, salty and briny, somehow fresh yet softly sweet, with layers unfolding constantly. There’s an off-note that is almost repelling at first, but at the same time incredibly delectable, this tension is what makes it so fascinating. It evolves beautifully and keeps me coming back to my wrist. I often think in colours, and this opens in deep, nearly black blues and violets. There’s this strange but delicious impression of purple flowers and beautiful inncense intertwined with something earthy, inky, and almost edible. It’s difficult to put into words, but that’s part of the magic. This is not a fragrance for the faint of heart, it makes you think, question, and revisit. The sweeter, skin warmth meets salt, almost nori-like drydown is stunning and completely unexpected. I even wondered if it might lean too masculine for me, but no, I am utterly charmed. Sensational, and now something I find myself a little obsessed with it. Actually a lot obsessed. Long lasting too. Wonderful.

This is the first thing I've smelt in a while that genuinely blew me away. For better or for worse, it is a squid. I am in no way qualified to discuss brass tacks - I haven't used it enough nor have the scent acumen - but it is truly a squid. I'm sure the niche for fashionable cephalopod lovers is very small, but if you are, this is the be all end all.

Looooooove ! Acquaticness and darkness never went together so majestically. Marine notes and deep INK oh my knees, incredibly elegant and addictive. Mysterious , what Poseidon would wear. What the room of treasures of a ritch refined pirate of the seas would smell like 20/10 love ! Beats any expectation i had, and i fell in love , once again. Also sold out where i went and couldn't get a bottle. Def on my list. So unique . Would love to smell a man wearing this and moth, i would be captured immediately.

I got a sample and was so wanting to love this on my skin. What I will say is the artistry in creating this is a simple WOW! The first spray and I quickly got a squid ink smell with a strong hit of marine saltiness. It's been 45 minutes since my 2 sprays on my left and right wrist and I still get the squid inkiness and marine saltiness - I don't get a sweet drydown at all. Will I wear this? Nope it is making me nauseous whilst I am typing this. I am however glad that I did not get a full bottle. Will have a go at all the other Zoologist sample and see if I can love at least ONE of its creations.

This perfume is the marriage of Water and Earth, I mean, in an Elemental way. It's so complex and difficult to explain, I'm wearing it right now and still it's hard to elaborate. I mean... it's not an easy choice, it's not for everyone and I really, REALLY suggest you to try it, on paper and on your skin, wait 5 minutes to explore everything this perfume offers you and then, whatever your decision will be, it's no way back. It's gonna be "Aaaaw" or "Yuck", no in between. I love unconventional niche and I love to stand out. Squid stands out. If it was a movie scene, it would be Ursula's deadly defeat in Disney's "The Little Mermaid". An old diary written with a fountain pen found on the seashores, with shells embodied on the paperback. A rite in honor of Poseidon on a rusty boat before midnight, in the middle of the sea. Nevertheless, results may vary (depending on your skin natural smell, of course), it lasts longer than 5/6 hours before application and evolves in a very interesting fashion.

Wore this to see Florence + The Machine in concert and it was the perfect vibe for this tour; deep, dark, otherworldly. She performed one of her new songs, Kraken, and it was like I was dancing with the cryptid itself.

Whatever u think this smells like, it’ll probably beat that expectation. Very hard to describe fragrance, extremely inky, dark, salty, has this strange earthy aquatic scent that I’m sure comes from the ambergris. It’s a dark, musky, almost stinky scent but in a good way it’s polarizing. Smells like the beach on a windy, cloudy day, with the waves crashing and the scent of the ocean filling your nose. Projects very well, I’ve had people tell me they can smell from a few feet away, and sticks to clothes up to a day or so after. Not for everyone, so I would not recommend full bottle blind buy. Perfect for really any weather or time of day, if u can pull it off.

Анонім

It’s a weird combination of sweet suede almost, marine-seaweedy, and then books! I understand why people love it, it’s very unique and on the right person I’m sure it’s incredible.

Анонім

This smells exactly like what fresh calamari tastes like (in a good way).

Анонім

Testing this fragrance because I love Seahorse BAD. This one smells more like a hiking trail than something aquatic. I didn’t think the two would be similar but I thought I would enjoy the salty, musky elements a lot more..

Анонім

Something just smells “off” and even though I like the composition I can’t get past the off note. I wanna like this one, but it’s not working for me. I want it to be more incensy, more moody. I think it’s the salty note that doesn't agree with me

Анонім

This perfume is so briny and sweet at the same time. On first spray, I really hated it. But then I kind of kept going back to sniff it? It's definitely the most interesting perfume I've ever smelled, and clearly it's artistically sound, but I don't think I would routinely put this on my body.

Анонім

the middle notes are delicious, ocean, inky, and spicy. idk what's so sweet in this, but it dries down almost vanilla-y??? i wanted to love this!!!

Анонім

It smells like a vast ocean covered in ink. I quite like it. It's fresh to me. I wish it didn't have that weird sweetness, though. If it wasn't for that, I'd like it a lot more.

Анонім

holy smokes Squid is fantastic. the weirder, ink and metallic heavy notes fade into sweeter smells as it dries. while i wouldn't recommend a blind buy, if you WERE to grab a zoologist scent without testing first, squid is the one (for masculine-leaning scents). if you are looking for a more feminine smell, rabbit or cow is the one if you aren't able to sample this at a brick and mortar, its worth buying on their website. thankfully, it is one of 3 zoologist perfumes i purchased a sample of and enjoyed before finding them all at a local niche fragrance store to sample. i recommend smelling it before buying

So inhuman! It reminds me of that theory a few years back about the potential of extra terrestrials being found in the unexplored sea rather than outer space. I enjoy this a lot. It starts off briny and aquatic, laying in the sun as the salty mist hits your skin. musky in a not-like-your-skin kind of way. it eventually dries into this sobering warm vanilla amber with splashes of salty ink. There's something very alien about it. Not like anything I've smelled before. Although I really enjoyed it, I don't see this being as wearable on an everyday basis. You could probably get away with it if you're dressed up like Poseidon or somn. Very cool.

At the bottom of the ocean. There is a sanctuary. You can go there, if you smell this. Squid is transformative, it’s a call from the deep lashing out. An underwater church, with inky incense and salt washed stones. This is a must try for anyone and everyone.
