Although I am late to this discussion, I have always liked this fragrance and recently acquired a bottle. I can understand the polarizing nature of this. If you are particularly fond of ambroxan scents, you may not find this fragrance to your liking. While AdP is a popular brand, it remains a niche fragrance catering to a specific type of individual rather than begging for mass appeal. It possesses an elevated scent profile, ideal for confident individuals. The fragrance has earthy and slightly spicy notes, complemented by woody and leather undertones. If sneakers are your preferred footwear, I doubt this fragrance will be suitable for you.
At the opening, the main notes are strongly oud and leather. It is vaguely almost rubbery, like a tire, but not quite there. This is making me realize or wonder if the other fragrances that smelled like rubbery tires to me have actually just been variations on Oud wood. Mildly soapy, too, which seems like it might be related. So far I would call this a mild like to a neutral. Nothing wrong with it at all, and I think a lot of people might even enjoy it, but it really isn't my style. A little warm and spicy, but not too much, and just a little bit fresh. But it really is pretty straightforward and its expression of oud and leather.
This has man opening very similar to D&G Pour Homme 1994. Just replace the tobacco with leather. This is damn good. Love seeing all you haters in here.
Where should I start, as the fragrance enthusiast I really appreciate this jewel. This isn't harsh, isn't loud, you almost do not smell individual notes (especially as it dries down). It is so sophisticated and blended to perfection. The opening is very bright but after 15 minutes becomes oudy but in a clean way, then after 30 minutes coriander starts mixing with oud and it becomes a little bit sharp (it is the only part where the fragrance feels sharp and where you can smell individual notes, the rest is perfectly blended so you get one rounded tone). After one hour mark it becomes more and more creamy and that sandalwood and musk comes out with that rich complex oud backbone. Silage is quiet soft especially after one hour, you get whiffs in the air through out a day, very gentle, not loud at all, so it can be summer scent but not in extreme heat when only citrus and aquatics work. As for longevity it is very good, at least 7h on my skin in the heat and my skin chemistry eats fragrance. To summarize this is another 1010 in my collection, I do love louder fragrance but this one for what it is and the legacy of the Acqua di Parma is just an art piece and it is just prefect.
Not too bad, but slightly overpriced
Tested samples of this, liked it a lot but not enough for retail price. Luckily found it on discounters for 50% off, smells 1:1 with my tester sprays so I'm very happy with the purchase. 7/10
I really do not know what people smelling here, this thing takes me back 40 years ago. My grandpa used to wear it... if you understand what i am saying. I do not dispise it, but to say i like it, it would ve dar fetched....i find it oudated and uninspired. After spraying it all over my self and realising i smell like grandpa, my wife entered the room and started givin me wierd faces. So i told her: what? Do i smell like Grandpa? She was like: well yeahh, can you please take it of. So yeah, i showerd twice in 40 Minutes that day...
I was sceptical about this, when I received sample of this. But it’s surprised me. I don’t like most of oud fragrances. But this one is special. The oud smells smoother in combination with other ingredients, probably citruses as described. The leather is prominent. If you like leather notes you will like it. Nice scent so far , wearable.
This fragrance took me by complete surprise. I've never owned an ADP but I know they are tailored to sunshine Italy vibes. Oud NEVER crossed my mind but I purchased the discovery set and this was in the top 3 of the whole set. I love Oud and have many much darker and stankier Ouds and I love them all. This is a very easy going version and somehow manages to have that freshness that ADP is known for. Maybe not 100°F/38°C but I think I could pull this off year round. It's just fresh enough for summer in my opinion. It may not be a safe blind buy, but I think it's one of the safest oud blind buys you could make. 7/10 This fragrance is great and I now plan to buy a bottle.
8/10 Luxurious, powdery, natural oud. There is a good amount of citrus in this as well, making it fresher than most ouds. After a while it becomes a dark woody fragrance.
This fragrance is completely not what I expected. With the simple name, Oud, you'd expected it to be a very woodsy scent profile. It is anything but. Instead, like some others have said, it smells very soapy -- not like, clean, floral woody; more like soaking in a sudsy bathtub soapy. It verges *almost* on bleach-like. Truly, I don't know why they called it Oud when there's not just no oud smell, there's almost no wood smell, period. It actually smells very good (again, very clean and bright), but if you're looking for a hyper-masculine woody scent profile, ADP Oud will disappoint you. Performance is also lackluster. The first 30-60 minutes, it's pretty strong smelling, but on my skin anyway, at about the one hour mark, it went from strong to skin scent dramatically and immediately.
My best ADP frag by far. Will always be in my collection. Great staying power and for sure u will be noticed. Can be used anywhere anytime all seasons! Perfect!
i am highly interested for this one especially 180 ml bottle. i have some niche to let go. located in EU
On paper, it's incredible. Beautiful opening and wonderful drydown. On skin however, it's a powdery, spicy leather frag that's pretty good. It actually reminds me of Bentley Absolute and Bentley for Men Intense. You could get similar DNA with those 2 bottles for a fraction of the price of a bottle of the ADP. The ADP is better for sure, but is it THAT much better than the Bentleys?
Agree with @Sweetymasculine . This is the kind of fragrance that takes you out of the hobby because this fragrance ticks all boxes with freshness, woody, oud, musky and all of those together combined with hints of citrus. Another reviewer said this smells like when you add a lot of detergent on clothes and that's EXACTLY what I get! It's smells like laundry detergent if it had oud, but of course more refined and with better ingredients than detergent. A gorgeous scent that pulls a lot of compliments.
Wow! Where do I start with this perfume. This is my signature scent. Very worthy of gatekeeping. Acqua Di Parma are known for their summer fresh scents, and for them to use a heavy polarising Middle-Eastern ingredient like Oud is quite risky in my opinion. For the record I am not a fan of funky Ouds. But this perfume has such an elegant Oud and is perfectly balanced between fresh/ citrusy and woody. The wood in this perfume is a rich and wet wood. The perfume is slightly spicy to Western standards which is nice but by no means spicy to the Middle-Eastern market. Imagine you’ve been chopping wood in the sun, you’ve got hot and sweaty, so you decide to sit under a tree to peel an orange for a refreshment. The perfume is male orientated IMO but could be worn by both genders, definitely appreciated by women. Now, the earlier batch I had was incredibly long lasting on the skin 12+ hours. But newer batches have lost some performance. On clothes it is still 12+ hours but fades quicker on skin probably around the 8 hour mark if you’re lucky. With the older batches a little went a long way, but you do need to spray more with new batches if you want the same result. It is a pricey perfume. But, for the quality ingredients you cannot complain. It smells expensive. It’s a nice heavy bottle, very sleek. Atomiser is good but the cap is plastic... for the price point disappointing. But it’s what’s about inside that matters. This will get you compliments for sure, definitely a mature scent too. For me it can be worn in any season. Bonus if in general you’re a warm body as body heat makes this scent radiate around you. So overall, I wouldn’t recommend blind buying as it is quite a unique scent and the “Oud” label can be scary for some and disappointing to others. (I’m gatekeeping)
Oud Eau de Parfum Acqua di Parma: The Modern, Western Oud This is one of the most wearable and elegant takes on oud I’ve encountered. It isn’t a heavy, traditional Middle Eastern oud; instead, it’s a very westernized and modern version that feels incredibly polished. What I appreciate most is the balance. The signature Acqua di Parma citrus notes are present, but they are handled so well that they don't interfere with the woody, oudy character of the fragrance. Beyond the oud, I pick up a very clear and dominant leather note. There is also coriander, which adds a fresh, spicy feel and a slightly "rough" texture to the scent that makes it feel more grounded. The base is built on very heavy woody notes, making it feel solid and masculine. It’s a "gentleman" scent through and through: The Occasion: Best suited for formal events or whenever you’re dressing up. The Season: It feels much better in the cooler months. The Vibe: Signature-worthy, unique, and very reliable. It’s one of those fragrances that won’t disappoint you. It has the quality, the performance, and the character you’d expect from a top-tier house. Rating: 7.5/10 (An elegant, masculine, and highly wearable woody-leather.)
I asked Reddit for suggestions on wood forward fragrances and AdP Oud came highly recommended. I applied 7 sprays and headed off to my 8 hour work shift as a night time engineer. There isn't many people here so I don't feel bad loading up on the crazy stuff such as Interlude Black Iris. AdP Oud starts out heavily floral. That is all I smell for the first 30 minutes. Eventually, some citrus and a smidgen of "oud" enter the mix. The citrus heavy stage lasted a good 6 hours and I was in a little bit of a scent bubble. It wasn't very pleasant to be honest. After the 6 hour point, the drydown hit and that is when the woods finally made an appearance, but I could still smell some citrus on my shirt. The drydown sits really close to the skin and you really need to sniff hard to smell it. I am not really a fan of this fragrance which is unfortunate as I have a 10ml. The citrus reminded me of a cheap, citrus scented cleaner. 7/10
I wanted it more than anything else. More than any Tom Ford, any Frederic Malle, any L'Esclusif Chanel, more than anything. Now I got it, and I don't want anything else. Smells like wealth, darkness, independence... Smells like money. Fragrance for those who know.
Really nice oud fragrance. If you want a gateway into ouds, this is definitely the mass appealing kind. It is well blended and has a very beautiful scent with the addition of the citruses. It dries down to a soft sandalwood with a slight leather presence. Great!
I did try this when I was in Italy in 2024. I tried all the EDP black bottles and bought Quercia. I had my sample and would test it occasionally to see if I liked it better. It is nice for sure. I finally decided in the winter months I liked it enough to get a bottle. I think i paid 115USD. It was the right price and I'm happy with my purchase.
@cesardiosXO: I have two bottles from the same batch, a smaller one and a larger one, and had a similar reaction when I opened the lager bottle after the small one almost ran out, but a bit of sitting on the shelf took care of it. So, I'd definitely recommend spraying 7~8 times and then letting it sit on the shelf for a few weeks.
The review below mine kind of sums it up perfectly. I tried Oud a few months ago in store and I liked it, a smooth and well blended citruses and oud fragrance. I just bought a bottle last Friday and I'm not liking this too much if I'm honest. The oud and citruses are there during the opening minutes (literally), but overall I just get an excessively clean sandalwood with amyris's lactonic resinous characteristic. This also has a strong white florals-like smell, if I didn't know any better I'd believe you if you said this had ylang-ylang and jasmine. In the end this smells like a woodier Reflection Man with "oud" and a smidge of citruses in the opening. The bottle is authentic, batch 0215Y comes out to an early 2025 production date, so this most likely got very heavily reformulated. I'll give this another wear soon to try again but I'm probably just gonna sell this. UPDATE: Tried it in store and it does indeed smell the way it does, I just misremembered what this smelled like. This is why I shouldn't blind buy full bottles. UPDATE #2: It's growing on me a lot after two wears, will see how it goes. Performance overall isn't great either. Projection is moderate with a dense sillage at first, but this dies down almost to a skin scent in about an hour. I doubt longevity will be great as it's been 3 hours and it's faint on skin, but it might cling on to my arms like that for a few hours, who knows. I'll update in a few hours. UPDATE: Six hours have passed but it's so incredibly faint I might as well say it's gone.
Smells like freshly cleaned clothes where you overdosed with laundry detergent. The Lily of the valley kind. By no means is this a bad scent, but paying big money to smell like clean clothes no thanks. Much prefer Zafferano to this one.
I'd confidently say that in line with what I've tried so far, this is easily the best introduction to Oud through the lense of a Western nose thats not used to it (while also smelling nice and classy in of itself). Definitely better than I expected, I was expecting the Oud Wood style of Oud that smells more like Cedarwood than actual Oud or faux-oud to my nose, however, this does have real Oud in it which is a plus, and it's done in a small amount whilst also being wrapped around beautifully by the other notes, which make it really pleasant to noses who have never experienced Oud before, many people often forget that not all Oud smells funky or intense which is mainly reserves for Indian and sometimes Laotian Oud, but the Oud in this one is very likeable, elegant, intensely woody yet reserved, and lightly sweet. Enough babling by me😂 The other main notes I get on my skin for the rest of the wearing are a rich and dense but non animalism leather, a dense and slightly creamy Sandalwood (of which both of them fuse seamlessly with the Oud), the familiar bright and sparkly orange from the opening, only now further in the back to add much needed contrast to the heavier darker notes, and Amyris which gives a little sweetness and smooths the edges out of this already smooth and elegant fragrance. Wearability wise this is 100% a dressed up fragrance (or atleast that's where I think it shines the most), however If you really love it I see no issue wearing it casually provided it's not hot or humid, I also feel that this fragrance is very firmly a Masucline leaning scent but its not entirely unthinkable to imagine a Lady enjoying this and rocking it. Projection was medium but quite dense and occasionally would feel like it was approaching strong on my skin but would taper back down, and longevity I got around 9-10 hours, with it starting to die down around the 4 or 5 hour mark. Overall it's quite nice to get whiffs of and makes me have to correct my back posture just smelling it as it really does exude class; Oud is fundamentally and divisive and/or hard to first like note to most western palletes unfamiliar with it, but I feel like this is one of the better if not the best avenue to start off with, while still going strong as a beautiful fragrance in its own right. 8.3/10
Fresh citrus, leathery oud manly scent. This is my favorite all year round leather scent. More versatile than most leather scents. The leather sits back while the woods and citrus dominate. A must have in your collection.
Its a rich, classy and fruity scent- i know the notes are citruses but what i get is a mango-ey passionfruit (which i believe is the citrus?) , leather and oud smell which is lucious and dense. its like something you would smell in the front row of a tennis match at wimbledon or at a formula one race in monaco, high class but accessible. the passion fruit smell slightly transforms with the leather becoming more prominent, which obviously stops it from becoming overtly feminine as the smell becomes more resinous and dark. it is definitely fruit based but 100% masculine, almost as if ombre leather was created with a passion fruit note instead of that metallicnote. the price and value for what you get is worth the money alone, you can get a 150 ml for less than 200 and you only need 2-3 sprays imo. buy it if you like fruity and oud smells, performance and price is worth it alone.
Another absolute masterpiece from ADP. I think they may just be my favourite house with Xerjoff a close second. I like the fact that all the YouTube shills hardly ever mention them. Now I’m no Oud expert but the best way I can describe this is a fruity, woody, leather scent. Suitable for any climate or temperature due to the the mandarin and bergamot which gives it a lovely freshness. But has the thickness and depth to be worn in the coldest environments. I’ve seen comments saying this is a fleeting scent but I’m still smelling it 10 hours after applying. Proof that most people who complain about poor performance are just going nose blind. I love it! I really don’t get how ADP don’t get more love. They are a fantastic house!
Probably the most elegant oud you could find out there, so smooth and gently radiant <3 The deep drydown will also be a bit oud, a lot of sandalwood and some patchouli + musk. Another win for those who are averse to thick/long lasting oud like myself. I think the projection and durability are also great, not too overpowering or fading away quickly. Perfect balance for an otherwise cloying scent. Perfectly done, AdP!
If you sometimes like the approach of Le Male or Million fragrances, but also think that they smell too youthful, and / or too sweet, and / or too synthetic to ever commit, then try here. This could be considered a grown-up version. A bit more natural-smelling, while being smooth, velvety, and orangey, with class and good performance. Oud EDP maintains its character through the drydown, rather than morphing too much over time. The only thing that I do not enjoy is the reminder of an Orange Creamsicle or a murky Orange Crush. That said, thanks to high quality and high entertainment level, went in for a full bottle.
