Hi folks, so I have a bottle of OG Icon which is still in its cellophane wrapped box, and I was wondering if anyone can attest to whether or not Dunhill-Icon's over-all performance improves at all with time "Maturation" because the reports on the performance are SOOO SPLIT!? And so Im really torn as to whether I should just sell my bottle, or keep it, and so Im trying to gather all the info regarding Icon that I can get so that I can make an educated decision. I must admit that Im so friggin' curious about how this super hyped Frag-com darling weard as I've never even smelled it before. Anyways, Thanks frag-fam! Id really appreciate any feedback! The comments bellow: 50% - smells too old school like neroli and lavender cologne. 50% - smells too immature like grape soda. But the weird thing is somehow they are both right.

@hugo montez to my nose the neroli and lavender are dominant, also there's something i would describe as herbally notes. i still think it smells old school, it smells really similar to 4711 eau de cologne i do get the black pepper but i don't think it makes it smell old school, many new releases also use black pepper. i respect everyone's different perception and taste.

Scenwarehouse on eBay are selling a 50ml gift box set with 90ml shower gel for £30. Maybe this is back?

@Schazad you're probably a very young guy. This is a peppery cardamom with a bit of neroli and a woody leather base

got the 30 ml bottle and used it for a week, here are my thoughts: it's a fougere/barbershop type of scent, it smells cloying, old, when you combine neroli and lavender of course it's gonna smell old, i just don't like this type of scent.

I’d prefer not to smell like I’ve spilled soda all over my clothes. Not very mature at all IMO due to the sweet grape cola, but I do sense ‘old money’ in the background (Oakmoss & tobacco). The opening few minutes has this amazing dry tobacco aroma that I only wish lasted for eternity. Mid I don’t care for as the soda smell takes over. dry down is better as the grape flattens a bit. Not bad & definitely Nothing too special here guys- Sorry not sorry. I understand people’s noses are different, but the Hermeś associations are Fugazi.. treasonous, treacherous, tenacious, unruly, unethical, unlawful! Edit: 7/23/26 Damn.. I completely understand the TDH comparison. It’s the ‘sweetness’ of the citrus/ benzoin combo that is so similar & not the vetiver. Took a few wearings- but yes it is true!

This fragrance is 20 year olds idea of what a "mature/masculine" fragrance smells like. Which is completely fine, but it's a little funny to read some of the reviews below categorizing this as some sort of mature "uber masculine" juice. This honestly smells a lot like a grape-flavored slushy from a convenience store. Which again is fine, but keep in mind just how sweet this stuff is if you're considering a blind buy. I bought this a couple of years ago, and it's one of my most regretful blind buys ever.

I had the chance to try Dunhill Icon thanks to a friend who owns a bottle. After spending some time with it, my honest opinion is that it's simply... okay. There's nothing wrong with this fragrance. It's clean, well-made, and easy to wear. It isn't offensive, overly strong, or unpleasant in any way. In fact, it's a safe choice for almost any occasion. That said, it never gave me the "wow" feeling. It didn't surprise me, excite me, or make me want to add a bottle to my collection. It's the kind of fragrance that does its job well but doesn't leave a lasting impression on me. I can understand why some people enjoy it, but it just isn't the type of scent that matches my personal taste.

Not much to add to all that has been said... a hidden gem. If you're 40+ stop buying caramel vanilly perfumes. Man-up and buy Icon instead.

I can't think of a better summer fragrance. Love it. A popular DNA, yet unique in its own way. Very classy. And the bottle design is top notch. A back up worthy.

Smells like a mature man that has his shit toegther. No more to add. Smell 8/10 Projection 7/10 Longevity 5/10

Very elegant scent. If you like Neroli fragrances, you will like this for sure. It's Neroli with citrusy, woody, spicy scent. It's very good blended. Versatile scent. Performance both longevity and sillage are moderate, but it is ok for me. Price is also affordable.

Smells like lime in a good way, very high quality juice. Weak longevity unfortunately.

Delicious grape smell. The bottle is very heavy, and I love it, though I prefer more simple design like offerings from Roja, or Guerlain, or Papillon with caps you can spin. Love the smell of grapes, and this is one of the rare ones that encapsulates that exact smell. A masterpiece? Not sure, maybe a grape masterpiece. 9/10

Lively, 2015 contemporary barbershop by Carlos Benaïm. It's better than most of the neinsaggers here are telling you. And no ambrox. Grape Soda? Was it reformulated and destroyed before it was finally discontinued? My bottles from before and during covid smell fine, and cost 25 bucks in the covid sell-offs.

Fizzy grape soda and wood furniture scent. The neroli note is dominant. This is a professional scent that is quite strong the first couple hours, projects very well, lasts a standard workday. Best for business casual to formal attire. 25 and up. Would suit a person who is more of an extrovert due to being a more unique/bold office-type scent. If you wear this nobody will smell like you guaranteed! Overall very good, cool bottle but just not my cup of tea. High quality scent. 6.5/10 - Sample first!

The opening is gross and like a synthetic lemon cleaning product but the dry down is nice. Old school barber shop clean smell with citrus. Younger guys who don’t have nostalgia associated with these kind of scents probably won’t like this.

Cartier Declaration with Grape Soda. The vetiver used here reminded me of the vetiver used in Terre d'Hermes, Jimmy Choo Ice in the dry down. Grape "soda" accord reminds me slightly of Desire/Lafayette St/Sculpture vibe, likely from orange blossom/neroli. It is a good value if you paid below $30-40, but at current price (even at 75$), you might be disappointed. Pleasant scent, but nothing unique, and not a good value at the current price. Oh and some may say its more on the mature side.

I just can't understand Dunhill's policy in perfumery. They decided to stop the production one of the most successful and unique Dunhill fragrance ever made. They lead people to fake perfume's stores in order to find clone perfumes.

This is very different from others, crispy, niche fragrance. I love wearing it and the smell refreshes my mind. Absolutely love it!

Blind bought this over a month ago, but I can say I lucked out. I do love this fragrance, as I love a fresh/spicy scent. But I mainly see this as a perfect fragrance to use as a layer. So far, I enjoyed pairing it with Dunhill's Desire.

Bought this twice and finished it twice. I did not know there was any oud in there till today. I like the fragrance, great as everyday wear. Nothing mind-blowing but still liked it.

Dunhill Icon is currently sold on Fragrancenet for $75. I know it was much less expensive last year, but curiosity got the best of me, plus atleast its NOT the over $100 pricetag other "Discounters" are seeking now that its harder to find, that's (IF) you can find it at all. Getting mine on Tuesday 1/13 🙂

Very good fragrance with smells of pepper and citrus, but mid performance

Just because this fragrance is discontinued doesn't mean you need to buy it. Have some restraint. I bought this back when it was sub $40, and even at that price, I was severely disappointed. There is something that smells good in this fragrance (the citrus, earthy vetiver, and woods), but similarly to Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal, it has a very mature dry down that is not for younger wearers. I thought I was going to get a citrus fragrance with a little bit of class, but instead, what I received was something that wouldn't be totally out of place on my grandpa. If you like old school scents, then I think this fragrance might be worth a try, but if you're just buying this because it's discontinued and you need to have the most super ultra complete fragrance collection ever (that's where this hobby can lead), then it's probably going to end up being another bottle on your shelf that you don't reach for. If fragrances were judged on the bottle they come in and not the juice inside, this one would be an absolute masterpiece. The microphone looking aesthetic with the heavy textured stainless steel is a beautiful piece of art to hold in your hands, but the scent itself is completely forgettable. However, if you're absolutely set on obtaining one of these bottles, I would recommend Icon Racing instead. A lot of people say Racing smells like Invictus Acqua, and while I don't entirely disagree, I think the lavender and vetiver give it a little bit of an old school barbershop feel as well. To me, it comes off like a very modernized Rive Gauche. I actually really like it. The full presentation would be cool, but the 30ml bottle I have is all I really need. Back to the original Icon, if you want a classy citrusy scent, Grey Vetiver would be a much better purchase. It has a relatively similar profile but is much more enjoyable to wear at my age (37).

A gem that's been sadly discontinued. Personal: 9/10 - A gentle, citrusy woods with a soft-fresh spicy edge that makes it interesting. I really enjoy it, and think it's one of the very few masculine white floral executions. Mass appeal: 8/10 – Very easy to like. Clean woods and soft spice make this broadly acceptable. Performance: 7/10 – Solid, steady performance. It lasts long enough without becoming loud or intrusive, and is quite reasonable for a freshie. Value: 6/10 – Discontinued and resale prices are only going up, but can currently be found on Fragrancenet for $75. At that price, it's a solid freshie, but not an instant buy. Uniqueness: 6.5/10 – Familiar woody-spicy DNA, but executed with a classy, old-school restraint. SCORE: 74/100 Full bottle buy? YES, a very pleasant and refined citrusy white floral, though increasingly hard to find. Blind buy? YES, fairly safe if you enjoy clean, masculine, woody fragrances and realistic florals. Recommend? YES, especially for someone who wants something mature and understated. Date night? YES, confident, mature and composed, though not overtly seductive. Office safe? YES, professional, polished, and very controlled. Pros: Clean and refined, classy woody-spice profile, gorgeous florals, versatile Cons: Lacks excitement, a bit too old-smelling, limited evolution Dunhill Icon feels like a fragrance designed for someone who values polish over flair. It opens with a smooth blend of citrus and spice that quickly settles into clean woods with a subtle peppery edge. A soft white floral presence is maintained throughout its evolution, with the neroli being one of the stars here. Everything in Icon feels intentional and well-balanced, but also very safe. This is not a fragrance that tries to stand out in a crowd. Instead, it aims to be quietly confident and pleasantly mature. There's nothing trendy or youthful about Icon, and it does the job of being a very smooth, masculine, old school summer freshie without needing strange synthetics or gimmicky notes. I just love how beautifully the pepper, cardamom, and oakmoss play together here. They're softly spicy with a beautiful woody twist, amplified and deepened by a smooth, unobtrusive oud base. I truly do appreciate the refinement and craftsmanship. This smells like what someone in a linen button down shirt, driving a Bentley would smell like. The imagery is of a British, upper class summer, and I'm enjoying every sniff. Had it not been discontinued, this would have absolutely entered my must-buy shortlist, but in its stead, I'll begin a journey to find a sufficiently similar, highly polished summer freshie that captivates me for the same reasons as Dunhill's Icon. im glad my local fragrance store has that discountinued frag on sale. i got my hands a 100ml for mere 50 usd! the bottle is heavy made of stainless steel, you wont find this type of bottle quality easily on cheap fragrances the scent smells like the mix of many of my favorite niche fresh scent ( mfk gfs, tf neroli portofino and cc rock rose without the cacao notes) the overall scent doesnt reminded me of grape soda, but a tart smoky ripe lemon smell , almost like a lemon cake

smells like grapes with some screeching medicinal quality to it. my kind of stuff, love it very much.
