Honour Man

It opens with very intense pepper, but not at all unpleasant. Once it settles, it becomes quite pleasant to smell. Great projection and quality of ingredients, which is a staple of the house of Amouage. It does have the nostalgia that I'm looking for in a fragrance like this, but there is also quite a designery vibe to it. It reminds me of ADG Profumo.

Alright I just wanna say that because of this fragrance, I now love walking down the spice aisle of grocery stores. LOL.

One of the finest offerings from Amouage, and among the few that can be worn effortlessly on a daily basis. A beautifully clean, fresh, and musky DNA that never fails to impress.

Clean, fresh, and well-balanced. I’d say it’s one of those Amouages that’s actually appropriate for the office. 8/10

The choice of black and pink pepper is so well done in honour man. The elemi is sweet and chewy, which is the perfect counterpart to the spicy peppers. Very classically masculine, smooth, and well done. It kind of smells like a black pepper shower gel. Lasts about 10 hours, moderate projection

Immediate pepper bomb in the opening, if you ever want a very obvious black pepper fragrance note, this is clearly one of them. Resinous, spicy, woody. This is a fresh pepper/spice bomb fragrance for sure, and I think for that reason alone anyone who says this is a completely safe or simple profile is wrong. This certainly stands out in my collection, and is quite interesting to me. The development is good too, and does become less spicy over time. 8.5/10

2#Today I want to take a closer look at Amouage Honour Man. I am a male in my mid-30s, with a balanced Central European diet, well-hydrated, and no alcohol, cigs, meds, garlic, onion, coffee, workout or significant stress before this indoor testing. Seven sprays from my 10-15% full bottle - three between each of my shoulders and clavicles for a regular wearing and one on the top of my wrist for breaking down the notes - will do. This is a ten-year-old bottle, which is currently in its third spring in my rotation. Right after the initial spray it's a blast of black and pink pepper. That lasts around 5 minutes, which I really adore. These notes settle but still project strongly, bridged by powdery geranium for the next hour. This phase is not floral in the slightest. The powderiness goes hand in hand with elemi, which has a balsamic facet, but also a zesty, bitter citrus aspect. Again, this phase is but a bridge. Now, you knew it was always there and finally after approximately an hour, it reveals its true face: a luxurious dry and woody accord of vetiver and cedar accompanied by incense and with a touch of soft musk and patchouli. The drydown gives me 5+ hours with moderate-to-intimate projection. On a t-shirt it remains until the next day, but I've caught more of a minty and musky residue. To me, this is a serious and mature creation that fits perfectly for spring daytime wear, as a contrast to the blooming, sweet and vivid air. The drydown reminds me of plywood that's been aging for some time in an attic. I loved working with this material as a kid. That time is long gone and so, sadly, is nearly my entire bottle. Bonus tip: check the old Amouage short films on YT while testing your perfume(Honour, Interlude, Lyric, Epic...); they really build the atmosphere.

Honour Man Amouage: The Textured Transition I’ll be honest, the initial spray was a bit of a letdown. I got hit with a heavy, dominant olibanum when I was expecting something a bit more complex. But stay patient, because the drydown is where it really comes together. The geranium is the standout for me in the heart—it acts as a perfect bridge between the spicy top notes and the heavier, woody base. Because it balances that freshness with deeper, warmer notes, it’s actually a great choice for all seasons. The scent itself feels like it has a physical "texture," so it pairs perfectly with textured clothing. It’s definitely a masculine scent that hits those high Amouage standards of quality. However, the huge variation between the opening and the drydown isn't quite my favorite style, even if the end result is very good. Rating: 7/10 (A versatile, high-quality scent that requires some patience.)

I blind bought this and it came in today, and I just want to say that this is the most slept on amouage I’ve ever come across. Nobody talks about it, it doesn’t have great ratings, it’s completely forgotten in the Amouage line up, and it’s so good. Opens with a blast of pink and black pepper, and, when complimented with the sticky, chewy, and layered resins, the fragrance is refreshing, delectable, and mouthwatering at the same time. It’s not “fresh” as people describe it, but it is refreshing. Honour is much more layered and resinous with a sweet chewy texture than people are describing it to be. This is a sleeper, and (don’t hate me) this is so so so much better than reflection man. Honour is as versatile and beautiful as reflection, but it’s more unique, more layered, and, honestly, it’s just a more interesting fragrance. Don’t get me wrong, I love reflection and will still buy a bottle, but Honour man is a strong 9.8/10.

It's fine. It's certainly not as special as some other Amouage releases. I find the scent profile to be missing something- most of what I get here is pepper and vetiver. I think if they had added another key player like a fruity or floral note it may have been a hit for me. As it is, it's unremarkable and too safe to justify the price tag.

Honour man, easy, classic, timeless, gentleman masterpiece. Longevity easy 14 hours, its still on my skin now and i can smell it. What a fragrance, this one is a calm one, a one that dont have to prove it selfs to others. You wear it confidently, without wanting to be smelled. Fine, elegant, good projection. Just a creamy, yet fresh spicy Scent. Classic Amouage DNA. I hope this wil not be cancelled by Amouage, if so, grab yourself a bottle! Legend Christopher Chong knew what he was doing!

Took me a while to come around, i didn't like it when i first sampled it but i have come to really appreciate it. Dry spicy and masculine. Very clean, very fresh

I’ve been rather impressed by Amouage as of late and I keep finding new fragrances from this house that appeal to me. This being one of them… The peppery musky subtleness of this scent is enticing. This quickly became my favorite go-to fragrance of 2025.

I feel like this smells a lot like Pharrell Williams Girl, but Girl is more impactful. Girl is said by many to resemble Amouage Portrayal Man. It has added lavender and violet that this doesn't, but they share quite a few notes - pepper in the top, resin in the middle (styrax for Girl, Elemi for this) and both have sandalwood, vetiver, cedar and patchouli in the base. Quite similar! Check it out!

At first i was baffled and i was trying to figure it out. A lighter, fresher version of Journey Man? But, after a few wears, i consider it a little appreciated gem, perfectly blended. The opening may be misleading, but its evolution has so many facets, making it the perfect office scent imo! Versatile, signature scent worthy, long lasting and elegant, i just can't stop sniffing it on me, it is so addictive and invigorating! Strictly for men and not for boys. Having 12 Amouage frags in my collection, it surely is on the top ranking!

Honour, as we’re meant to interpret it here - at least for men - is stiff, difficult, and uncomplicated. Olfactorily, peppery. I spent some time with Honour Man many years ago, scratched my head, put it away, and recently decided to revisit it to see how my impressions might change. They didn’t. Sometimes we perfume fanatics need self-reinforcement that we are, indeed, getting it right the first time - but it never hurts, and it’s usually wise, to revisit; at least with brands like Amouage, even the ones you aren’t sure of are still worth a second pass sometime later, and it’s still usually fun. Pepper, pepper, pepper, and some more pepper at the top. Fruity, spicy, nose-tingling rainbow pepper. A sour spiciness slowly grows from underneath, sour resins and seed spices, but they keep the nose-tingling pepperiness at the forefront. Then, finally, after much time later, peppery vetiver and peppery cedar that’s both green, salty, swampy, and mossy woody. And - did I say peppery? At the very end of the perfume’s life, 12+ hours later, it’s mostly cedar and green vetiver sans the piquancy, but you have to put your nose straight to skin to get that since the perfume is nearly completely gone. Now, at least, Honour Man is done with Amouage style. It’s rich, and sort of retro-leaning, good materials and handled with care, so hip-hip-hooray on those aspects. It’s just boring. Plain and simple. As ubiquitous as it is, pepper in itself isn’t exciting; it’s always an adornment/additive to something else. But, you may protest, I mention other notes here! True, but they always take backstage - far backstage - to the smells, textures, and flavors of pepper, never being allowed to sing the lead, always backup. Pepper is not an adornment or an accompaniment here, it’s the star. So go eat a handful of peppercorns, and acquiesce to my point about it needing something to be the star. I dare you. Honour Man is good, certainly better than many/most perfumes out there, but it’s not a good Amouage. They are victims of their own high bar.

Real men wear this one. Not for the younger crowd trying to fit in. This is for the man who is confident and speaks without saying words by his precense

One of the most versatile Amouages. Initially it opens up with a strong and sharp "crushed peppercorns" smell, very intense and realistic. After 10 minutes and especially after the first hour, it dries down to a smooth, balsamic elemi + vetiver combo. Very classy and masculine smelling. Pepper still subtly lingers in the background but the scent is mostly balsamic, woody and tiny bit smoky. Great longevity. Even 10 hours after applying it, I still get whiffs of it when I move my head. Projection is moderate but very persistent for hours. Very versatile as well, I feel like it could be worn in any season except summer and in pretty much for every occasion except the gym of course.

I understand why the detractors of this fragrance dislike it. The opening is pepper and elemi. It's like pepper on a salmon fish you are about to cook. Elemi can sometimes give a fishy smell until it calms down. The dry down reminds me of Oud Wood from Tom Ford. This is just a clean linen fragrance that doesn't have significant projection. When you buy Amouage, you want a fragrance with an impact. This fragrance has zero impact. I like this better than Oud Wood but that doesn't mean much. If you want a fragrance with an impact, skip this.

To my nose, it smells like a sweet aromatic. Somewhat like MFK Gentle Fluidity Silver, but then made white-sugar-syrup sweet. It is materially sweet. On an absolute scale, I'd say it's moderately sweet. I love sweet gourmands but I don't want my aromatics to be sweet. Very odd.

Pretty good like all the others amouage perfumes i have tested but not among my favorites of the house. The pepper notes stick out a little in the opening but soon it blends nicely with geranium and then incense though the opening is quite short lived and the complete development from opening to drydown is quite fast. Although this is exceptional in itself because there is a really traceable development in how the composition develops. After 20 minutes the drydown melts eveything together beautifully but the projection is modest at that point. In addition, I find the longevity really poor. After 2-3 hours this is a very pleasant skin scent on me. Maybe I am anosmic at that point but I doubt it. This is unusual for my experience with the brand. I don't need a beast mode fragrance with a half-life in days but I expect 6-8 hours of performance in this price range. In particular for the incense based and spicy category this lack of stamina is rather disappointing.

I really like this one, it is in essence a vetiver scent, very well done, a lot of naturals, and it is very long lasting, and smells amazing when it's not too warm outside. If you like Grey Vetiver from Tom Ford, or Bois Imperial, this is in the same school of thought. It screams corporate, business settings, and clean white shirt with a light grey suit. The pepper is the only challenging part of the scent, but it gives it character. If you don't like the pepper note, don't worry, the dry down is integrates that note in an extremely elegant way that makes this fragrance a standout. This is 30+ and it demands a proper attire. I really like it a lot.

This stuff is extremely underrated my new 2024 batch has amazing longevity and projection and the smell is absolutely amazing

I still love this fragrance, however it's been reformulated with the high-quality materials (like silver incense) taken out, it used to be so much better. The opening used to smell like a carpet shop (which I wasn't fond of) however the mid was lovely and the dry-down was the best I've ever smelled in perfumery. The silver incense at the base was utterly heavenly. You don't get those things anymore. It's still an excellent fragrance, smells manly, clean and classy. Someone said it would be a good for a job interview and I agree. It's just a shame that this used to smell very premium now it smells high-end designer to appeal more to the mass-market and it feels like a minor relegation.

Honestly, I find Amouage fragrances heavy and difficult to use. This one is not like that, it is extremely simple to use, but this one is also very simple, just a resinous scent, it has no story, and its performance is below par compared to other fragrances.

The vetiver completely obliterates everything else for me - and yes, I think that's a "me" thing unfortunately!
