choco loco by borntostandout is worth trying if you miss this one
I love warm, cosy gourmand perfumes that can be worn in fall! I feel like I would have really liked this one based on the reviews and notes! It would be so nice to see it return~ 🍂🍁🌰
So delicious and beautiful! I have my mom's bottle from when I was a kid that I used to say I was saving for my wedding day
this one was a weird one for me and honestly I'm glad I didn't splurge on a full $200+ bottle. I wanted so badly to love this one but I just couldn't. WHY does ever fragrance house have to add citrus notes where they don't belong? this one was just plain stinky to me and on me. citrus + hazelnut just smells nauseating to me and I really wish fragrance houses would stop adding it to stuff. I'll just stick with my Al Rehab Choco Musk and So French's "Chocolate Dreams" and call it a day. one thing I can say is that it is BEAST MODE when it comes to projection; I couldn't get the stink off me even after a shower. so far I don't care for Aquolina; their Pink sugar and Black sugar so far smell like either a cheap stripper who hit up a gas station for a cheapo perfume, rubber tires, or with this one, a nutty vomit fragrance. YUCK
Incase you missed this one and many have just buy al rehab choco musk it is similar but weaker but then you will have an idea of what this smelled like. It had a bit of lemon in it though but overall the same concept.
I wish I could find this or I wish they could make a white chocolate version like the body lotion! Why can’t there be more chocolate varieties in Fragrance! Please someone make a white chocolate fragrance other than Fantasy and Jessica Simpson Signature. 🤍
Chocolovers does not smell like chocolate or cacao, but the hazelnut and vanilla blend will remind you of a light Nutella. The citrus opening notes give this scent a refreshing start. It’s gourmand and delicious, not too rich or complex -even a bit plastic-y I would say. But that does not make the scent less charming.
In my beginning quest 2 find true scents that smelled like real vanilla, chocolate or caramel I found this scent years ago. While I found it really nice a fitting of a sweet tooth gourmand craving...the only beef I had with this is that the nomenclature was very wrong. Absolutely NO chocolate in there...rather its hazelnut. Which is wonderful, just not chocolate. And oh, dear, it looks like it was discontinued based on the reviews below! I'm sorry 2 hear that. That in mind...i hope my review helps if u buy one of the remaining ones... This is the first time I think I've agreed with fragrantica's description where it says "nutty" as a top note. It also describes this as having amber in it, which it may b well blended but I can't detect that. It was a very nice fragrance and I liked it better than Pink sugar because NO LICORICE in this one! But it's just not chocolate so if one can accept that, I would say great blind buy if u like gourmands. I can't really remember the price but I'd reckon if u're looking 4 chocolate, 4 price and accuracy, u're way better off going with Chocomusk which is more of a vanilla-y chocolate. I hope this helps someone! Happy sniffing!
Hm… I bought it for 30$ so do not complaining especially I can sell it much more expensive but after first blast of Chocolate Greedy by Montale the only thing I can smell is…. f*ckin* VEGETA. I put blame on coriander as it’s universal broth spice. Too bad. Maybe it’s my skin chemistry? I will try it on blotter Edit: Oh, okay, it is my skin chemistry lol. This note is much much much weaker on the blotter. For these people who miss this scent I highly recommend Montale Chocolate Greedy
Please bring it back. I loved this so much and I miss it every day. It's the perfect chocolate scent that I can't find anywhere.
Please bring it back just like the first amazing version!!!
If you want the same smell just layer tendre madeleine or Lira with choco musk 👍🏼😀
When I was a little girl and my mom and older sister went to department stores and got perfume samples, they'd give them to me and I saved them for my dolls to have their own 'vanity' of perfumes. None of them were as memorable to me, and made me desperately want to have a perfume collection of my own when I can be grown, as Aquolina's Chocolovers. Unfortunately, it was discontinued by the time I was old enough to have my own collection, but I remembered that treasured little red-capped sample to this day adorned with its kitschy hearts and bought myself two 15mL decants. It is so, so, so very different than any other 'chocolate' gourmand on the market, it is actually way more niche smelling and unusual, despite what your assumptions may be from the same company that made Pink Sugar -- this is unlike anything else you'll have ever smelled. One thing to note, is that from my bottle and most others' nowadays -- the citrus top notes have evaporated away. However, this makes the fragrance even BETTER than it did when it first came out (and I remember how it smelled when it did) because while the tangy citrusy opening and does give a lovely gourmand chocolate orange feeling, what really makes this exceptional is how dry, slightly bitter, and incredibly NUTTY the hazelnut note is. It's not a saccharine Nutella hazelnut, it's a true, dry, raw, "spice rack" hazelnut, and it's absolutely sublime. The vanilla and patchouli adds some creaminess and a touch of sweetness to it, but even the vanilla is an authentic, bitter vanilla bean. None of the dupes listed are quite like this -- this isn't a milk chocolate fragrance, this is a true dry and nutty hazelnut with some sweet and woody tones to surround it. But at its core, it's as raw and true of a hazelnut as I've ever smelled in a perfume. I will never understand why this was axed, but even for its exorbitant price on eBay, it is worth it, because it truly is that remarkable!
I didn't even realize this had patchouli in it, yeah, it's that good. My tiny bottle was at least a decade old by the time I actually tried it. Why did I wait so long? It's just delightful. Used it up and then found out it was discountinued when I was looking for more;( P.S. Does the scent of patchouli mellow and smooth out with age? Like flavors in wine?
Ferrero rochers are my favorite treat I wonder if this scent embodies how they taste. Bring it back Aquolina pretty please
My bottle is at least ten years old and still smells amazing! I forgot I had this discontinued gem. Bought it on extreme discount while on vacation, and it’s one of my best purchases.
I got my bottle today. It smells like chocolate cookies with orange. Not sure about hazelnut. Not sure why fragrantica does not show chocolate notes here.
How have I not reviewed this yet? Oh boy do I love this perfume. I managed to get 2 bottles before it became insanely priced. I even swapped an unused vintage Dior Addict for a sealed bottle of Chocolovers, and it was WORTH IT. Chocolovers is the best Aquolina scent, hands down. It is a delicious blend of chocolate oranges and Nutella. It smells foody and gourmand without being sugary. I also own the old formula of Serendipity 3, and while I adore it, it is quite sugary and rich, and needs a special mood for me to wear. Chocolovers smells good to me all the time. I am always in the mood for it. And it lasts insanely long, I'm talking ALL day. I don't understand why they discontinued this. I'm not sure if they are even making new perfumes anymore, but suffice it to say that this is their best and I really have never found a chocolate orange perfume I liked better than this. Others that are similar that I really like are the Serendipity 3 I mentioned (old version is best), and Jo Malone Bitter Orange and Chocolate. Sadly they always discontinue the best ones!
I remember this being more gingerbread than chocolate.
This is so delicious! But not worth the inflated prices that it's going for now. If I could find a good deal it would probably be full bottle worthy.
This stuff was the bees knees. The perfect little chocolate treat of a fragrance. I didn't like the bottle much but who cares when the scent inside smells this good? What I loved most was the opening when it smelled like Nutella and orange zest. After a while it went pretty vanillic, but it stayed nutty and warm. Gosh, the thought of it brings me back to living in the mountains in the winter and enjoying a weekend snowed in at home with my husband. It was as cozy as a blanket and a hot mug of cocoa. I miss it. It's old gems like this that make me upset to see sellers asking the equivalent of By Kilian for 50 ml that used to cost 40 bucks. But I get it,😒 supply + demand. At least I can remember it.
I received a sample of the edt today. It opens with chocolate, which quickly fades and is replaced by vanilla. No hazelnuts or Nutella as far as I can tell, not that I want to smell like either. OK, there's no Aquolina scent I like, but I wasn't aware of the brand when I purchased the lot this fragrance came in. IMO Aquolina scents are too sweet and too artificial, more Splenda than real sugar. CL's performance is worse than some body sprays I've had, the notes are a chemical mishmash, sillage/lasting power are poor. According to the reviews this discontinued fragrance is quite popular. I don't get why, but it's all a matter of taste, and CL isn't my cup of chocolate at all.
This is in the realm with L D Lolita Lempicka and Betsey Johnson Betsey Johnson..that wonderful wintertime comfort scent of orange vanilla and spices that I love but what was Aquolina thinking when they discontinued this...BIG mistake Aquolina! Now the bottles are going for $150?? I mean what??!!! This is when many of us know Ebay sellers have lost their minds!! That's too much to pay for discontinued fragrances..anyways sorry for my rant there..but this is a strong spicy fragrance of hazelnut and citrus..it smells like wafers or gram crackers with the vanilla mixed in..I really do love it a lot and couldn't believe when I finally got into it that it was discontinued..Aquolina there are many customers who would continue to buy this why not just make special orders online for those who want this and I say the same thing for any perfume house...let us order the one's we want as needed..I don't know why more houses don't do this...If you get this you will love it it's a comfort scent that lasts for hours..your never going to get disappointed with Aquolina they make quality fragrances and products.
Just like Pink Sugar, Chocolovers deserves to call itself gourmand in the literal sense of that word - I mean, it smells like a delicious chocolate hazelnut cake you want to eat this instant. I can't understand why Aquolina discontinued this jewel. Yes, it's not mature, it's not elegant, but it's beautiful, warm and cozy type of fragrance you'd wear simply because you want to keep that wonderful scent close to your nose all day long.
BRING IT BACK AQUOLINA!!!!!
I have a bottle of this that I bought back in 2006. I haven't used it much, as it was so delicious I was always "saving it for special occasions". However, I sprayed a little this week and the scent has changed. It isn't so chocolatey or orangey anymore but the hazelnut has increased a lot and it has become very nutty. This is certainly a very strong, gourmand scent. I also have Comptoir Sud Pacifique Amour de Cacao and I prefer that over Chocolovers as the CSP has more vanilla and is sweeter.
This is so wonderful. Too bad they discontinued it. Smells like Nuttella, with orange peels and powdery musk!!! And it's strong and sillage-heavy. To have a better ideea: Angel Muse is not half as good as Chocolovers. And advice: If you like Muse, blind buy Chocolovers, it will knock your socks off.
Where's the chocolate in this??
My my this beauty smells like holiday time back when i was a kid & my mom would make sweets and bake pastries...haaaa (sigh)...wonderful blitz of Hazelnut and orange zest in the opening...it's lovely and very dominant...But the hazelnut wins over all of the other notes...I keep getting a chocolate note, but there's no chocolate note of any kind. It smells like Nutella & Rochelle chocolates... I honestly went out and bought both of them to, just to sniff and to pig out on. Sigh... If you love Gourmands and you like hazelnut base fragrance...This is for you! I wanna go home and break out my food processor, and toss in hazelnuts, vanilla, nutmeg, brown sugar, coco powder, milk chocolate, salt & some olive oil... then make some home made waffle from scratch & smear on my homemade nutella on the waffle and go to town...Yum...Sorry having a fatboy flashback. This is a happy, comforting...safe scent. Perfect for cuddle time with your other half. Wear this and go for a walk in central park or on the pier. Over all must have in your collection. I used six sprays...both wrist, back & front of my neck, chest and front of my shirt. Will I buy this again?...Yes. Does this fragrance enter BEAST MODE, good, just okay or weak sauce at best? Beast Mode. What's the strength of this? EDT. Am i willing to trade this fragrance? NOPE! Should You Skipped It, Sample It First or Blind Buy It? Blind Buy worthy for gourmand lovers, everyone else sample it. Can you use it as a unisex scent? YES! Is it the old, new formulation? Old. What's its availability; in production, limited edition or discontinued? Discontinued. This was my first gourmand from Aquolina because Pink Sugar didn't cut it for me or do it for me nor did I classify it as a gourmand. This is. The bottle is so cute looks like a 1960's design and kind of Lava Lamp like in a cylindrical bottle. The scent is not that of candy but a chocolate truffle. Smells of an expensive delicious European chocolate dessert in a bakery, like in Vienna or Salzburg. This has got to have an unlisted note of tuber which blends well with the chocolate scent and the hazelnut. The hazelnut is the prominent note but it has so many characteristics that are totally in the gourmand realm - chocolate, nut, sweet, creamy, buttery. When you spray it on you the scent of citrus reaches your nose first which is unusual for a Pink Sugar fan because this is more fruity than gourmand as it opens. This is a fresh orange scent with a tart lemon or rather lemon merengue. A spiciness emerges quickly and there's a soft hint of coriander and the floral note of green lily of the valley. I would not call this a floral nor 'green' but these notes do pop up and give it a shampoo effect. Very nice. Eventually the scent, which is linear and evolves pretty fast, turns into the delicious aroma of gourmand hazelnut, tuber, chocolate butter cream and of course vanilla. Have you ever had a vanilla-and-chocolate dessert as in all rolled into one? This is exactly like vanilla on top of chocolate. Smells like those chocolate balls with vanilla cream. This is mature not as girly or sugary as Pink Sugar. I would peg Pink Sugar as a cute girly fun innocent party perfume for a junior high kid but Chocolovers is more adult and though just as festive has a more serious nocturnal side. I am smelling something so beautiful and so sweetly captivating here. I'm so happy I found this on eBay. It might be discontinued but I'm not sure. I have a feeling that this was trying to compete with Pink Sugar and lost. But I prefer this. It's absolutely amazing. Downside is the short life it has, weak soft sillage; smells great but acts like a fragrance mist a la Victoria Secret fragrance mists that don't take as long a time on your skin as you'd like. So this is all about spraying over and over again reapplying. I also wish they had supported these great notes of tuber chocolate vanilla hazelnut and citrus with stronger base notes of musk perhaps some woods or whatever it would take in a top middle note formula to give it more life and more time to evolve. But it's not bad and I'm not complaining. Love it.
