So classy and fresh stunning

Remote, austere and pensive, it suits my current state of mind. There's a memory there, hovering from childhood, when I took refuge in a patch of violets. Give me a rainy day with a book and Bach and it will be perfect. It was a blind buy from a website in Cairo, where I live, but I'm pleased and a bit baffled by what it evokes. Not really the best for summer in Egypt, but the projection is minimal, allowing me to reflect in silence.

I had no idea that Violets could do this! This is no cute candied offering nor is it a whiff of floral romance. The Violet of Balenciaga's Paris is a gutsy little tuft of green growing in the crevices of a bustling Metropolis. Was this the Zeitgeist of the noughties ? Not actually floral. not quite green but not really woody either. A bit of all worlds and thus hard to pin down.

This is a very lovely perfume. I purchased a small vintage sample from eBay as I wanted to test another "violet" perfume. I had purchased one from Dior but folks on this site seemed to revere Balenciaga Paris more than many other violet perfume. On me and my skin it lasts about 4 hours and on clothes about 6 hours. The silage isn't far. Maybe a foot at most so an intimate perfume. While I very much enjoyed this perfume and consider it a classic it didn't wow me enough to search out a full bottle. It is however a very office safe perfume and indeed a vintage classic. It isn't IMO powdery or at least not overly so. Not a powerful classic as many of the vintage perfumes can be aka Obession. For me is was around an 8 out of 10. I rate it higher because is was beautifully blended and is indeed a classic. Note: Please don't call this a "grandmother" perfume. I utterly HATE that term. I mean what the hell is a grandma? People in their 40s or 50s. That is mid-life. NOT hospice. Maybe you are in your 20s and don't appreciate vintage perfumes. But don't denigrate a perfume and relegate it to a grandmother tomb just because you may not appreciate it's notes. Us of grandma age don't belittle your perfume preferences by calling them "babyish" or "pablum" perfume. Be subjective not derogatory please.

This is such a pretty fragrance. I really enjoy the violet notes! It’s the only purple floral I seem to jive with! The cedar and patchouli notes make this so interesting, keeping it from being too floral. It’s perfect for spring and fall as others mentioned, but this could definitely be an all year scent. I personally wouldn’t describe this as a powdery scent. Most purple florals go powdery and I avoid them. Violet is a bit different to me, I wouldn’t say it goes powdery, per se, more like a little dry or makeup smelling. But I guess that’s just semantics. This doesn’t have a huge sillage, yet it is very detectable. It smells very understated and elegant. I adore the bottle! Just stunning! It’s really sad that all these beauties get discontinued. I’m happy to have it in my collection!

I haven’t worn this perfume in a long time, but I revisited it today and really enjoyed it for the first two hours. It made me feel positive and youthful. I smell more violet leaves than violet flowers. It’s not powdery, but rather more fruity. The opening is especially juicy and sparkling. Sadly, it became too much like a synthetic vanilla scent after 2 hours of wearing, though I still like it a lot overall.

Balenciaga Paris... I adore this fragrance! It is fresh, young and has a spirit about it that enlivens me! I am so devastated that it has been discontinued. If I had known that was going to happen, I would have bought a couple of bottles, while they were still in store. I will treasure my remaining Balenciaga Paris! I wonder if any of the "knock offs" would smell as divine? I am not sure what ingredients are no longer allowed so it might be hard to replicate. Vicki 😊 9.3.26

Surprisingly light and delicate for this brand! Though, I don't really like it on me. It's too precious. Very dainty and femme. I don't get much cedar or patchouli but can tell they are doing something to the florals. It's very ok. Clean and powdery. Seems to be a following for this one, I am surprised there is not a dupe out there considering the short note list.

simply one of the best women's perfumes

It's such a shame when beautiful fragrances are discontinued; but today I'm sniffing the last drops of this austere yet comforting beauty as it lets out its final breaths and I'm overcome with joy and gratitude. Fragrances remind me to appreciate and love things while they last.

I miss this scent and I believe I bought atleast two big bottles while it was sold. Definitely believe it was a romantic fragrance, beautiful creamy violet that can be worn all year round and versatile. This is probably my signature scent and I misssss it!

Анонім★★★★★

Wish they would bring this back and make it just a little more potent. And tone down the carnation..

Bewitched by relics of bygone eras, lamentably discontinued fragrances and those reformulated seemingly beyond repair, my destiny. And what a delight this is! On me a cold green, slightly metallic violet, lightly powdered scent. It brings to mind Bvlgari pour Femme, but with an edge, and slightly better staying power. Some parallels with Goutal’s Violette minus the Parma candy note. No sugar here. This goes quiet in its later phases, requiring at first several sprays, and much later a reapplication. But she is lovely, absolutely lovely.

Анонім★★★★★

Smells like a femme fatale with a library card. Cool violets, dry wit, aloof, cerebral, zero remorse. Naturally it’s discontinued because the universe can’t resist a tragedy.

Анонім★★★★★

This is beautiful. The violet is a bit prominent at the start, but settles down into a soft and lovely powder. I can smell the patchouli in the drydown, but it's not too strong.

Анонім★★★★★

A non-offensive, very beautiful, soft and romantic fragrance, for spring, summer and early autumn. In Fragranticas description above, it says that it is NOT a romantic fragrance - but, oh yes, it certainly is!! I have not worn this in the whole summer before, but today, the 5:th of September, I do! It is raining outside, but it is still quite warm, and today this feels absolutely appropriate. My husband and I will go and look at a house today, and I want to smell nice and fresh, but not like a perfume freak…(😇) Though this is quite longlasting for me, it stays quite close, and will not enter the room before I do. And that is a good thing.

This is a heavily blended fragrance so you won't be able to detect individual notes. I'm mostly getting a sheer, cold, fresh violet with a subtle greeness. It has a slightly sharp, perfumey base that becomes stuffy if you overspray. If I had to choose between this and the L'Essence green bottle, the L'Essence is the best out of the two. They both smell very alike, but the green bottle has beautiful green notes and a soft powdery drydown which smells better than this one. Smell: 7 out of 10 Strength: 6 out of 10 Feminine For reference, I'm female.

Balenciaga Paris was a violet veil with a mysterious soul: sheer, moody, and utterly chic. Of course, they discontinued it, because the world doesn’t deserve nice things. Gone, but never forgotten.

Анонім★★★★★

My son hugged me and it was the first time he ever complimented one of my many perfumes. 🥰 Too bad it’s discontinued.

Анонім★★★★★

Delicate green violets, clean, fresh, woody. It’s a cold perfume, but classy, sophisticated.

It dries down to the most heavenly powder scent. Very elegant and refined. 😍 The opening was a bit sharp and cold, but nothing disturbing. Magical ✨️

I was able to find an FB from Fragrance Vault. It was expensive but worth it. I'm now putting it in MY vault. This is a perfect violet scent. Delicate and a bit green..the cedar is beautiful..It smells very expensive and I always get compliments. I had NO IDEA it was discontinued! Shocking, how many good perfumes disappear.. On me, it has very good performance. I will cherish the bottle I am using and vault the bottle I'm getting from Fragrance Vault. sad that it's pretty much gone. 🫤

Paris is a cold, green, wet violet perfume. I imagine a quite, depressed and captivating woman wearing it in a rainy and misty day. It smells exactly like wild violets which I adore. I feel heartbroken since it is discontinued and I am in a constant & almost hopeless search for something similar.

Анонім★★★★★

Finally, a violet compostion that I can wear! I had almost given up on violet as a note as I always found it too sweet and cloying. This mix is perfect with the other notes toning down those sweet qualities of the violet giving a slightly fresh vibe vs candy vibe. Violet is still the number one note that you get but it is done just right, bringing out it's best qualities. Beautiful!

Анонім★★★★★

My favourite violet-centric composition. Extremely classy and beautifully made.

Анонім★★★★★

Unique scent. My work day Go To. A beautiful pretty fresh sharp violet yet at the same time an 'I mean business' perfume. The absolute perfect balance of femininity and power without leaning too much in either direction. Long lasting and gorgeous dry down. Very upset that this has been discontinued and there is nothing else like it.

Анонім★★★★★

I just received this today and what a disappointment. One small spray on my wrist and it about knocked me over. My sinuses flared up and I started to get a headache. I only smell violet on the opening, and the dry down is only carnation with a slight woody powder scent. It smells super vintage and old fashioned. It reminds me of my 1st grade teacher back in 1962. I should have researched it a bit more. Had I known it was an Oliver Polge fragrance I wouldn’t have bought it. I have yet to find a fragrance by him I can wear. Quite strange really. This doesn’t smell like Insolence in the flying saucer bottle in any way whatsoever. Insolence is really magical. Balenciaga Paris smells like a bad cheap drug store fragrance on me. I am going to let it set for several months and try it again, but right now I need to go use my Astepro nasal spray.

Анонім★★★★★

Tried a decant from a years-ago swap. Really pretty at the opening. To me, this is like a very nice hand lotion scent. I like unscented products for the most part but I wouldn't mind something with this scent. As a perfume, it's still not for me, exactly. Although it's not offensive, it doesn't pull me in with any warmth or spice. Not what it's trying to do by any means, just my preference. Now, the next day I found the remnants on my skin unpleasant. A scratchy and rough base beneath the pleasing scent.

Анонім★★★★★

I concur about this being a perfect rainy day scent. it's so gorgeous and signature scent worthy.
