This fragrance unfurls with bright, spicy citrus. Soon, an Idyllic boozy accord emerges, carrying a solmen, languid woodiness with it that lingers throughout the wear. It feels like I am sitting beside a crackling hearth, slowly sipping a glass of whisky. A refined, timeless gentleman's fragrance.
I've never smelled the Intense version, but this is pretty intense in its own right. Rich, boozy, spicy and woody this is, kinda like a blend of Scotch whiskey, cedar and nutmeg. I agree that this is most suitable for an older man (50+) because it smells like something a rich guy who dresses in suits would wear. Very strong and long lasting. I could also imagine a cigar smoker liking and wearing this.
Can't believe no one has said this smells like CK Shock. Just a more adult version. I like it. It's alright. Not anything to write home about but solid. No complaints
I applied liberally on my chest, and on the insides of my wrists and forearms, three times, allowing each coat to dry before reapplying. When still wet and a few moments beyond, there is a gorgeous boozy scent. A spiced dark rum with plenty of sweet notes, minus the alcoholic burn. Over the next hour, the rum rumbles away, and bay leaf comes out, that juicy kind of note that fresh bay leaf exudes when crushed. Woods stand up and give lots of structure, edged with the bergamot. I’m sat in a light sent bubble, not overpowering or uncomfortable. To get the individual notes, I need to lean in on my wrists, but mostly can get everything from a couple of inches. After three hours the rum and bay have pulled back, revealing a more restrained and sparse woody framing. The scent fades in a linear fashion, and was more or less gone after 8 hours, leaving only a faint burnt rubber note on the skin.
Bentley for Men EdT is, in my opinion, the better choice compared to Bentley for Men Intense. I’ve owned the Intense for about two years, but I rarely reach for it since it feels a bit too heavy and dense for my taste. I recently picked up the EdT, and it keeps the same elegance and classic character while coming across as more wearable and easier to pull off in different settings. For me, its versatility makes it the clear preference.
The black pepper and bay opening of Bentley for Men is really too much for any practical purpose, ...but its aromatic volatility is intriguing to smell, ...but only for the few minutes it holds the fort. After that, the real fragrance begins, being mostly wood and leather, with its distinctive amberish tang of rum and benzoin adding just enough sweetness to qualify this brew as bittersweet, no more. So don't confuse this with any of those sweet cocktail scents on the market. Actually, for the hesitant, layering this with more amber would be an easy way to make it friendlier. As for the Intense flanker, it is all this, plus smoky incense. As if one could possibly need (or handle) more. Also, to be sure, I remain a fan of Bentley's metal-topped, hipflask bottles.
Bentley for Men smells like the idea of adulthood you had when you were twelve. That half-formed fantasy of mahogany offices, amber liquor, and being the kind of person who knows what cufflinks are actually for. It opens big and boozy with syrupy rum and cinnamon. The kind of warmth that hits before you even know you’re in it. Like the first fifteen minutes of a dinner party where everyone’s still performing their best selves. Then it exhales, softens into something more reflective. Wood, leather, a faint sweetness that feels almost like remorse for its own bravado. It’s a warm, spiced inhale, the scent equivalent of sinking back into a leather armchair that’s seen better men than you, and somehow remembers every one of them. There’s something deeply comforting in how unapologetically grown it smells, like a handshake that’s just a little too firm. It’s not trying to seduce you, it’s trying to reassure you that you can still be composed, deliberate, adult, even when your life feels like a series of browser tabs left open too long. It lingers for hours, maybe longer than it should, but so do the good things like the aftertaste of a good drink, the last line of a good book, the faint echo of competence. If I had old money this would be my signature scent.
A slightly less harsh version than the Intense version, but still pure masculinity in a bottle. If you like long-lasting, manly fragrances, Bentley for Men and Bentley for Men intense are the best value for the price. The original is slightly more versatile while the Intense is more "in your face", but the scent is VERY similar.
This is a truly polarising fragrance, those that like it really like it and those that dislike truly dislike. I have worn this about 3 times since I bought it and I have been told I smell like a fuel station by two people. But I personally like Bentley For Men, I am not one for sweet fragrances, but I like this one, it reminds of D&G The One EDT, the only difference being the overpowering rum element. For the price this is a good date night fragrance, I would not recommend it for the office as it might choke others around you.
Very impressed with this. Totally unisex perfume. If you are a woman, please give it a sniff, if you can, or buy a decant. You will see it's very "friendly" and charming. I smell the booziness, the woodiness. It is perfect to wear on a morose and grey autumn day and in winter.
Smells really good and more easygoing than the Intense version. But the opening lacks in performance, too subtle and I don’t have more patience for perfume with alt least 6hrs of presence. Other problem is the dry down that is too sweet for me. Could be more casual but for work, for example I couldn’t use because is a little cloying.
A very good perfume that, to me, smells like a memory from the past. Imagine Hugo Boss Number One without a piss note, replaced by a cognac one. A classic, mature flavor with a very good performance. I think it can be worn both in daily activity and on festive occasions. Packaging, bottle, cover and color of the contents, irreproachable. My grade 8.5/10.
Batch f0d22 from April 2022. Opens as boozy as it gets, then turns into woody and smoky with hints of bear sweat, like a booze festival rocking a California Forest, the smell of joy at the start of that cliche horror movie. Bay Leaf has a central part as well, Bay Rhum inspired for sure. If you like that sort of scent profile, you will rock this like a modern pirate. Update 11/21/2025: Been wearing this for the last 4 months and it is one of my favorites, this has a lot of character and exudes masculinity
This is the only fragrance to have ever made me feel nauseous. Overpowering smoky old-woody smell.
I was a bit unfair to both bentley and bentley intense at first, but they both grew on me to a certain extent. Both are strongly aromatic, with more bay leaf than I have noted in any other fragrance to date. Both are sweet, with intense being more vanilla, with the regular version owing it to a transparent amber. Intense is a lot more interesting, with the leather, bay, and smoke combining to a sort of food-like savory accord. Honestly it's pretty weird for a mainstream fragrance, which I appreciate. The original version is balanced more toward the freshness of the bay leaf. It is easier to wear and not as food-like. Other than the the bay leaf and sweet wood notes, not much pops out to me. I like it, but get bored pretty easily. For a sweet, woodsy, boozy fragrance with a strong aromatic component, I like both, but prefer guerlain ideal, which is sweet, carmel, woods, boozy, and a big sprig of rosemary.
Bentley for Men is a fragrance that exudes sophistication, classic masculinity and a mature elegance that evokes the luxury and comfort of a high-end car — true to the brand that created it. Launched in 2013 and created by renowned perfumer Nathalie Lorson, this perfume is a true hidden gem of niche perfumery at affordable prices. Performance: Bentley for Men impresses with its great performance for the price range. Projection: Moderate to high in the first 2 hours. Long-lasting: 8 to 10 hours easily on the skin, with even more lasting on clothes. Sillage: Leaves a noticeable trail, but without being invasive. Occasions: This is an ideal perfume for mild to cold climates. In the summer, it can be a little too intense, but on cooler nights it shines. Perfect for: Formal dinners Business meetings Evening dates Special events where you want to project a confident, mature and refined image. This is not a casual fragrance or for everyday office wear. It has a nocturnal and elegant feel, ideal for men with presence and personality. Final Rating: Score: 8.8 / 10 Bentley for Men is an underrated perfume and often overshadowed by its more famous “brother”, Bentley for Men Intense. However, its original version is more balanced and versatile, maintaining an aura of luxury and refinement. It is a fragrance that conveys power with class and that will certainly attract attention — not in a flashy way, but with the charm of someone who knows what they are doing.
This one is hyped, but to me it smells barbershoppy and oldschool. Suitable for men aged 50-60.
This is my first review, please bear with me. I have the original and intense version. The intense version is definitely more smooth, somewhat light and well balanced with the booze, leather and vanilla (enjoyable). To me, definitely a date night/ evening fragrance vs the original edt, you can rock with it anytime of the day you want and not give a care in the world what others think. It definitely smells like you have been drinking sweet rum/ whiskey but in a good way. I work 3rd shift and I have a few people asking what I have been sipping on before coming into work and I just tell them it’s just cologne. I really like both of them and between both, the EDT seems more every day wear and the intense version is going out. I think the EDT performance is better than the intense version as well, 5-6 sprays - YOU ARE GOOD TO GO. Other than that, no one hasn’t told me anything bad about it or complained to me. It’s just more questionable coming to work with it because others will think you have been drinking. That’s why I think the intense version is better at night.
Well, this site is all about personal opinions so here's mine - I hate this fragrance. I had huge hopes from many reviews so I went and blind bought it at a stupid discount (13€) so I knew that even if I didn't like it I wouldn't feel bad. I DO love the bottle design so I might just pour out the nasty liquid in it and use it for something else! lol Anyways, I've been looking on getting the Intense version but I have plenty of dark fragrances so I read that this is a "fresher" more versatile version of the Intense so I went and got it. Highly disappointed at this smell, to me it smells like a VERY cheap car freshener, that of cheap taxi back in the 80s. I don't really know what it is but I'm guessing the mix from the bay leaf with clary sage and maybe the cinnamony-rum altogether create a nauseating cheap overly-chemical smell in my nose. Whatever it is, it just doesn't work for me at all. Some supermarket home deodorants are 10 times better than this :)
I have both this and the intense. And I have to say this surprised me. Even though they have a similar structure, this is a very wearable, pleasant casual version of intense. The intense has been a scent I have only even reached for in specific occasions. This gives me the confidence to use it daily. Longevity for me has been also surprisingly good. Based of other reviews I didn’t expect this to last more than 6-7 hours. I’ve had it on today since 14:00, and it’s 1am right now and it’s still going strong on skin. This has been one of my favorite pickups. Classy, high quality and smooth. 8/10
I would pick this 10 times over the Intense version. They smell pretty similar to each other but this has a more pronounced Rum and woods, a little bit less leather and less spices and less of that ''ashy'' or ''old man'' type of vibe present in the Intense versions opening. It doesn't last as long but the smell is very, very good. I would honestly believe if this, Absolute or Intense would be niche fragrances.
Don't listen to this SlayoR75, this clown possible never smelled it before and as I can tell they are loosers like this because they can't take a man's fragrance or dupe that makes better clone of their favorite Bentley for man it has booziness, woody, leather and bit of sweetness with good mix of class and rugged.
Liquor! you will smell like a liquor store and everyone will smell you and not like it. Dont buy.
just smells like leather and rum, when I think man this is the scent I would conjure.
12/21/2024 rum, benzoin, bay leaf, cinnamon and leather. smells awesome and lasts long. I wear this all year round but she's best worn with a denim jacket. great value!
Really good smelling fragrance but like the other Bentley Absolute I got, both very weak. Bentley used to make banger fragrances now they seem to refill half of their bottles with water. 💦 3.2/5
TLDR: Much sweeter than most make it out to be. Opens vastly different than it dries down. Be patient for the good stuff. Biggest takeaway: this is much sweeter than advertised. I’m surprised at how few highlight the synthetic sweetness in the opening. The popular opinion leans “mature scent profile” which is a bit of a stretch to me strictly because of how sweet this starts. Opens very zingy (think ginger beer, simple syrup, and rum) and feels a bit cluttered fighting for attention with the aromatics (which I pick up in heaps initially). I also get a sparkling type of aldehyde for the first 20-30 minutes. This becomes significantly more enjoyable and attractive in the dry down when the leather, woods, and cinnamon finally start to emerge (I also get star anise and clove). Unlike the top notes, the base notes mingle extremely well together and create an alluring mixture as they meld with the lingering sweetness which has become brown sugars by this point. Good stuff.

I've tried this one and intense flanker. Intense version's longevity and sillage is way better but it's more sweeter and it could be cloying for some. Intense flanker smells more appropriate for mature guys (30+) however you can pull this one at my age gap (20 something-30). Nobody beside my girlfriend has complimented this, probably sillage isn't good, on the other hand longevity is great. I think it smells really great and i don't think it's polarising as intense flanker but don't blindbuy this. It's definitely a cold weather frag.
Smells bit synthetic during start, it begins with some spice then fades to sweet, vanilla like scent on my skin. I actually like the smell but the performance is really bad for me. I make like 15 sprays and it only lasts for an hour, after that its a skin sent. Would like to try intense version. Not a blind buy. Totally masculine scent for colder weather.
