A beautiful fragrance with a type of sweetness that I do not recognize from my other bottles. Now, this dates back to a time when subtlety was highly valued, and the present time is far from that. Call to action: bring this back with a significant projection and longevity.

Whoever at Bvlgari decided to cancel this masterpiece - I hope your pillow is warm on both sides forever.

This perfume was ahead of its time. Unfortunately it’s been discontinued, even though it would be very fashionable nowadays. It’s my favorite tea scent — when I wear it, I’m very often asked what this divine fragrance is. Sadly I use it very sparingly now because you can’t get it anymore. :-( Olivier Polge’s creature.

The pink pepper note really doesn't sit right with me. It's incredibly strong and not my taste at all, in spite of the middle notes that sounded really great to me. Instant regret after application.

Анонім★★★★★

Smells like a cold condiment, in a bad way. A tartness with fresh spicy that's more watery spicy ketchup than red tea.

Its tea and fig . I regret blind buying this , I thought it would be good as a rare perfume. Buttttt it smells expensive. Something about it is classy and cool. Different from all the sweet trendy perfumes in the market. I feel like it stand out better

this opens with a lot of tea, a bit of fig and bergamot and a fair amount of pink pepper. a light refreshing figgy scent with a hint of pepperiness. after awhile i get a bit of warmth from the walnut and resins but overall it's a lighter tea scent.

good fragrance i love the tea scent

Starts out so warm and alluring and feminine, for about two minutes with the lactonic fig and pink pepper and then immediately evaporates into a more clean and unisex bar of expensive white soap, black tea leaves and that fresh, kind of chemical scent of the inside of a leather bag. Still gorgeous but a bit disappointing, why can't it just smell like the opening the whole way through? I definitely still like it a lot though, probably the nicest "soapy" scent I've ever tried. I will experiment with layering to warm it up because I do think this has the makings of a gorgeous everyday scent. EDIT: Never mind, I let this mellow for another hour and it is nothing short of incredible. It's been on my test list for almost 10 years now and I'm glad I finally got to it, what a beautiful, creamy, sensual, approachable tea scent.

Chilled rooibos tea with cinnamon (I know it's not listed) with light projection, but not as light as the the vert. It's lovely! I love this whole tea line from Bvlgari. This is probably my third favorite from the line, the other two I love more are the bleu and the noir.

Beloved au The Rouge... Bvlgari always gets it right. It's been years since I've had this, and I can still smell this soothing tea-infused nectar perfectly. The nuttiness was comforting and gentle, and this was the best rendition of fig I have ever tried. These two notes were most prominent on me, along with the tea note. Whenever I needed to feel calm, this was what I wore. If the time is right, I'll have to snag a bottle from eBay. This darling should have never been discontinued.

This is a lovely scent. I'm fond of tea and fig notes so it's no surprise I like this. I don't know how to describe this scent, but my boyfriend says it smells like a "fancy gift shop at a national park." I don't know what that means exactly, but he rated it an 8/10, so I assume he likes it, lol.

will forever be my fave.. so smooth but not like you would expect with something that is so mysterious and enchanting. usually i prefer sweet scents but this is pure magic.. why they would discontinue their best frag i’ll never understand!! i have my 5 ouncer and hoping it lasts.. using only on special occasions.

Анонім★★★★★

I have a small sample of it right now, it’s a great fragrance but it does get pretty sickening

Got a small 5ml bottle in Emirates gift pack about 15 years ago. It was my first love. What a pure, beautiful scent. Fig, tea, pink pepper..a marvellous creation by Olivier Polge. It saddens me to no end that it's been discontinued. Why Bvlgari, why?? I still reminisce about it with great fondness.

My dearest fig note perfume. Airy and jojfull tea! It was my favorite Bvlgari perfume and it still is my no.1 from their house. I still cannot get over that is has been discontinued💔

I will forever be raging that they discontinued this it is the best smell I ever smelled it’s joyous on the skin it felt like how I should always smell sadly I was gifted a small gift set after it had been axed I will mourn for a full bottle that even if I could find it I could not afford it.

Really didn’t like this unfortunately. This turned soapy and smelled in overall like black stale tea was spilled all over me.

Like wrapping yourself in furs and velvets, going for a brief jaunt in the fresh, crisp winter air before stepping into a warm room. Feels like the winter chill still fresh on your face as you enter a Russian tearoom with leathery chairs smelling of smoky tea & true peppers. The longevity is not long, but the dry down changes in intriguing ways according to the person. One of the few peppery scents which truly keep the peppery notes. A scent which people of all genders have told me they love getting a whiff of. Can work by day on the right woman who wants a distinctive scent to follow her, and works to add intrigue on a date night as well. A very versatile perfume. If the longevity were better, I would spring for the full bottle, but it truly doesn't last as long as the "discontinued perfume price" is catches. You can often catch small bottles for under $30, if you keep an eye out. Truly unisex - this scent I love to smell on myself & would love to smell on a partner (the throw after initial application is quite good). eta: People looking for a dry, bitter tea blend which is also striking like this scent (with more longevity and projection), look into State of Mind's Aesthetic Turbulance. It's pricy, but you can get samples & decants since it's not discontinued.

I can't comment on this version, but the eau de cologne in that clear bottle with the red cap was romance manifest into liquid form.

This set the bar for me for tea perfumes. It’s a sweet black tea with a hint of spice that pairs so well with chilly weather. I’m constantly hunting for an affordable bottle bc it quickly became a favorite that I’ve had no luck in replacing.

Once again, diligence at Goodwill and "Buy Nothing" facebook groups pays off. I found 3 deluxe tester bottles of this recently and am smelling it for the first time. I didn't know it is discontinued, and the scent seems to have a cult following (like many fragrances that eventually retire). The hype seems warranted, however. Very unique! On my skin, the orange and pepper appear first, followed by a mild tea note and fig. It is not very nutty in the beginning, but the resin and musk are present. The fragrance becomes slightly powdery, and like another reviewer mentioned, the idea of coconut. Au The Rouge develops into a scent that reminds me of a "tea time" experience; orange walnut cookies sitting next to a pot of black bergamot tea. The tablecloth is soft and clean, and there are coconut macaroons cooling in the other room. But this isn't a sweet scent. It has the full maturity of an adult and has restraint. In fact, it would not be out of place amongst the Jo Malone family of fragrances.

This scent has a really nice feel that emits quality. For me the tea is absolutely a strongly brewed black tea. So if it’s meant to be rooibos, well it misses that mark, but despite that the overall composition holds together as a very nice wearing tea scent. The fig which is most noticeable in the top and mid is quite ripe I find. But its not dominating or stealing from other aspects of the scent. Then surrounding the tea and fig, the rest of the notes embody the scent in an air of quality. Its very short lived though, which is unfortunate for such a fine creation. It does conjure thoughts of lazy afternoons out in the sun with friends pouring cups of iced tea from a carafe thats been spike with fresh fig pulp. I’d add an extra squeeze of lemon in mine too for a bit of added freshness and zing - which always helps quench the thirst on a hot sunny day :)

Of the Bulgari teas I smelled so far, Au The Rouge is my favourite. I love this one, since it gives off autumn vibes and sort of facilitates the transition from the hazyness of late summer to the cooler, clear air of september and october. The roibush and fig are prominent in this one, a huge plus for me as I love the smell of both. I also love the nutty dry down and the fact that it does indeed smell of walnuts and not some other nutty stuff. I’ve collected tons of walnuts together with my dad over the years and this reminds me of our trips together. Musc and walnut is a rather unexpected pairing, but somehow it works very well and the dry down is warm and embracing. Like an autumnal hug from mother nature. I bought a small vintage set of this and it contains an after shave, which seems rather peculiar when marketed as unisex. However, it is indeed completely unisex. Only problem, though a huge one in this case, is the longevity. After an hour it is so faint that you and you alone will even notice it. It becomes a skin scent very quickly and it is a shame, since it is indeed a fine fragrance that glows beautifully in fall.

Aww.... it's The One That Got Away. Why does this always happen? Absolutely the standout of the generally respectable-but-dull Bulgari teas line - sharing the same very high quality and (once) good value for money with the rest, but doing something far more original and lovelier than any of the others. So OF COURSE this is the one I liked best, the only one that got discontinued, the one that turned into a minor cult, and the one that you can now only find at vintage-silly prices. And of course it's the one that I once saw years ago for pennies in TKMaxx, and considered for a while, but wasn't willing to blind buy given my bland experiences with the rest. Then I first smelled it, years later... and loved it beyond reason, only it was too late. This has to be my greatest personal fragrance fail ever. What it's got: something truly special - genuine, warm, persistent red tea at the centre (of a class that only stupidly expensive things like Memo Winter Palace or Floraikus can rival); an impeccable balance of warmth and freshness; a gorgeously clean and classy aura which never gets cold or overly sharp. It has a peppery, spicy, almost muskiness at the bottom end which binds to the skin in a way that feels intimate, not clingy. Totally unisex, quirky enough to be interesting without getting wilfully weird, would work in any setting, on anyone, dressed in anything, going anywhere. Just amazing. Amazing - but not perfect. It's damnably discreet, staying well within your personal space, not lasting as long as its magic should. It shares that teasing, evanescent, now-you-smell-it-now-you-don't quality of Malle's L'eau d'Hiver, trailing out a wisp now and then to tantalise you when your body heat, moisture and the weather allow it, then disappearing, leaving you chasing its wake. I'm eking out precious drops of the EdC and body lotion from a tiny travel set ... but pining for the chance to smell this one day as it should be, sprayed into a glorious puffy cloud from head to toe, if I ever find any at a sensible price. That's not likely to happen - its cult is well established, I don't think there are any remaining stocks to be rediscovered - but if you ever spot it at a non-antique expense, buy it (if only for me!). For now - I'll love what I have, and treasure the dregs of my set, but The Rouge will forever be the smell of wistfulness, and the sense of missing the (magnificent) boat on this one. ETA: ... aaaaand my years of pining are over AT LAST!!!: managed to snag an opulent and amazing full-body box set of this from a charity shop on eBay complete with soap, shampoo, lotion, conditioner, and a bottle for a very reasonable price. Love it more than ever. It still doesn't last as strongly as I want but my passion is undiminished, and I've come to realise the key to its appeal (for me) is that walnut note in the underneath - the special secret sauce that gives it juuust the slightest tang of peppery-oily-bitter which sets it apart from the rest. Keep on searching, The Rouge fans - it can still be found, if you're willing to way, and persistence pays off - I don't think anything has delighted me as much as finally getting this one.

@Uncrafted. Similar experience to you. Was fortunate to fly biz class between Perth - Dubai - Amsterdam in 2016. Picked up a sample set, too. Shower gel and soap from memory. Fell in love with it. Been looking for a replacement scent since.

Анонім★★★★★

I wanted this specifically because of the walnut note, (the other notes are also ones I enjoy). Unfortunately there is no nuttiness to be found. I understand that walnuts can be bitter and especially black walnuts can be floral, I just don't find it at any stage in this scent story. Can't crack it. Review of official boxed mini bottle splash.

The perfect scent. This is the first perfume I ever purchased; back in…2007? It’s so balanced with the bright spicy notes but a sweet, dense base. I find it fairly linear which I actually like. The complex opening just rides through the longevity of the fragrance. Agree with others that I just can’t believe they discontinued it. I really haven’t felt the need for any other perfume until this year when I decided I wanted a lighter, summer fragrance. (This perfume really shines in the fall) for what it’s worth I ended up settling on Elizabeth Arden White, Ginger Lilly flanker. It’s got a similar spice, coming from the ginger, but it’s a much more transparent uplifting scent owing from the white tea.

This is a comfortable, casual, easy to wear scent, but it's unique -- you won't find anything else quite like it. It has that distinctive Bvlgari base combined with a tea note, and although fig is present, it's not overpowering (I generally dislike fig notes in most fragrances). It doesn't smell exactly like a cup of red (rooibos) tea, and it's not what I'd call a spicy fragrance - although pepper is listed as a note, it's not a strong presence. This isn't going to work for you if you're looking for something that smells like spiced tea or chai. It's a soft fragrance with low sillage and staying power that manages to smell both clean and warm at the same time. Unfortunately, it's discontinued, but bottles can still be found on eBay.
