Alto Astral

This is such a gem. It's very versatile and I have justified wearing it on a summer day or a winter night. It morphs based on the occasion for me. It reminds me a bit of Bal D'Afrique but I prefer this, especially I get past the soapiness in the beginning. Overall, it's a crowd pleaser and I receive many compliments.

I’m not the biggest fan of coconut, so I was surprised by my love of Alto Astral. The combination of musk, incense, and amber creates this beautiful smokiness that makes it so much more gorgeous and unique than the typical pineapple/coconut scent profile. The aldehydes blended with the jasmine give it a fresh quality that smells both polished and expensive—which it is! 😂 But in this case, it’s an expense I’d be willing to invest in. There’s something about the smoky warmth underneath the bright tropical notes that makes Alto Astral feel much more interesting than typical summer fragrances. Definitely a summer staple for me!

I love the coconut notes in this. This fragrance does the coconut note in unbeatable quality. I would put this at top 3 Byredo but as it is with most of Byredo's, they turn into a skin scent fast.

This is a nice Skinscent! It smells clean, not soapy, not schampoo, not laundery, not propert. Clean skin just showered. Slightly more feminine. Its soft and very nice!

clean and pleasant at first but after wearing it for a while the powdery musky side starts to feel a little repetitive and tiring

The dry down here is really good. When I first sprayed I didn't love it, after 30min it smells absolutely comfy, smells like you have a caring breeze holding you with this soft coconut scent (which is a note that I usually don't like it) and this cashmeran note involved in musk and sandal. It's like a spring/summer blanket holding you in a luxurious beach resort. It was a surprise, really liked it.

My mom used to air dry laundry in our small indoor courtyard/garden in Puerto Rico, and that smell of freshness mixed with the tropical air was so calming and ethereal, and Alto Astral evokes those memories for me. The opening is aldehydic, clean, and slightly coconutty. It begins to get musky and skin-like soon after spraying, but maintains this super clean and creamy aesthetic. At dry down there is a touch of sweet and dewy white florals peeking through, along with a dose of smooth woods and this ambery and velvety cashmeran accord - all while remaining musky, clean, and creamy. I prefer to wear this in the spring or summer during the day, but I think it's versatile to be a year-round scent. It projects a little less than an arms length for about two hours, then it starts to mellow into a creamy, almost lotion-like skin scent. Alto Astral is so good and my favorite Byredo. My girlfriend really likes wearing it too...thank goodness I got the big bottle. 9.3/10

Love this fragrance. It's cozy and warm; not in a solar way, but in that sweater weather coziness. I'm wearing it now on a summer day, and I definitely prefer this in winter, which is when I first fell in love with it. This is a sweet, musky, enveloping fragrance. Cuts through the cold and lasts forever, but is suffocating in the summer. It gives me the vibes I thought Summer Mink would (that fragrance is a mess on my skin). I don't pick up a literal coconut, and the fragrance is sweeter than I thought it would be given the notes, almost like there's a tonka bean or praline that isn't listed (I get the same sweetness in Bal D'Afrique Absolu, which does list a praline note). An immediate love! Purchased the full bottle the same day I sampled it.

Fresh, musky and airy with a lovely edgy incense note and nice woody base. Just my style. Will be repurchasing.

This is such a captivating scent. I am not the biggest fan of coconut, the way they have built this fragrance makes the coconut very inviting. This feels like a beach vacation at a five star hotel in Bali. This is not a soapy fragrance by any means, but a very clean and uplifting scent. When I spray Alto Astral I get a feeling of calm energy, like a coconut palm tree dancing in the ocean breeze. Alto Astral is an all day scent on my skin. I put it on at 9am this morning and it softly projected until about 4pm and still remain a solid skin scent at 10pm. Though it is a pricy fragrance, I would buy this again and again.

I'm not much of a coconut fan, but I do love musky woods and this fragrance is great. Most underrated byredo fragrance I think

Initial impression - plasticky, medicinal, musky and smoky at the same time. Weird combination but it works. In the mid/base however it is nearly identical to Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Purple Melancholia.

Suntan lotion and coconut. Nice, sweet and fresh for summer. But not really my favorite from Byredo.

This is a refreshing and inviting scent. Creamy and bright. It's a perfect summer day, your friend is making coconut margaritas, you head into the backyard and catch a whiff of the fresh laundry drying in the sun. Sunlight is streaming through the clouds. This fragrance is great, I went into a boutique expecting to buy something else and came out with this. Recommend!

It smells like a coconut lacroix mixed with tv static . It works I love it

This is a clean non creamy coconut that leans slightly masculine. It has that cold musky Byredo DNA that is noticeable in many of their fragrances. The aldehydes and coconut water are very prominent at first spray, and as it dries down the musk, amber, and incense become more noticeable. I wish this warmed up a little bit more on the skin. But on me personally, it kind of gives coconut axe body spray.

MM Beach Walk meets Dove ‘Caring Coconut’ deodorant for the first 10 minutes, then settles into an aldehydic soapy coconut and chaste jasmine (just a touch). Pretty linear and inoffensive. It wants for something, maybe magnolia or water lily, something damp to hang out with the soap.

I smell something like fried coconut in this.

Musky, incense-like, and lush coconut and amber all at once. A complex composition that changes once it settles into the skin. I get more of the middle and bottom notes. It's definitely a daytime scent, perfect for summer and spring. It's bright and cheerful but with a balsamic and smoky edge. The freshness some people report is nonexistent to me. I wouldn't use that word to describe it. When I think of fresh and clean, I think of something like MMM's Bubble Bath. And this one has too many smokey/floral elements to me. It's a great addition to my summer staples.

Lowkey the dry down is almost the same as Commodity Milk Orchid. Almost lactonic, but also that signature Mojave Ghost esque DNA

One of few fragrances that made me say “wow” out loud. So many layers to it and all are just unbelievably elegant and poetic. Not sunscreeny at all, very fresh and is balanced so well with the musk and powder. Somehow the powder is almost buttery. The type of musk used is reminiscent of Sniff Me and Angel Dust, and it blends superbly with the incense notes. The aldehydes are a nice touch that keep it wearable in any season despite it being coconut. 10/10

Coconut laundry soap, if there was such a thing. It's clean and fruity.

An amazing clean summer scent. Its a fresh coconut and for me personally is light but complex at the same time. The price is a bit crazy tbh but if you have the chance id recommend to try this. Would I buy a second bottle? No. But I am happy I got one.

This is in the same family and vibe as Diptyque L'eau Papier... however this is a lot sexier, longer lasting, and complex. Completely unisex and addictive
