Pulp

For the first hour, this is a very food-y scent, but not in a gourmand way. It smells kind of like fresh bell peppers, tomato leaves, pomelo, and a dash of fresh garlic. It isn't a bad smell, but it's a smell I would associate with someone making fresh salsa, not something to be worn. It isn't badly executed by any means, it just isn't really perfume, but more of an art piece. As it dries down it becomes soapier and less food-y and I actually really like it. It's weird, wearable art. The freshness and naturalness of how this smells is impressive. Overall 7/10, it's fresh and the pomelo (or whatever note that it was supposed to be) makes it decent.

Maybe I will get it later on in the future . I like it but I don’t love it. I have a travel size and I have 2 travel size of space rage which smells almost identical. That is the first one I actually got and I liked and I said I will try this one if I want it in the future to be able to buy.

@inenell Maybe online exclusives are offered only in 100 ml bottles? Its been in stock for a while. Same for the other online exclusive M/Mink. I bet the Pulp comes back heavily reformulated again (Already my 2010 is very different than my 2020 bottle - the banned muguet materials are much more pronounced in 2010 bottle), but I'm sure it smells heavenly as always.

The talk of Pulp getting axed absolutely makes sense. If you'll notice on the Byredo website that it's been moved to an online exclusive fragrance for awhile now and is currently sold out. That checks out with exactly how it's gone down with past discontinuations like Sundazed, Velvet Haze, Accord Oud, Baudelaire and Sunday Cologne. Watching this one exit hits a little different for me as it was my first ever experience with the house.

Every skin reacts different . For me Pulp is a mix of sweet fig and bitter orange with heavy heavy heavy alcohol. In the dry down is alcohol with heavy bitter orange. It is beyond potent and nuclear power. You can’t blame Byredo for this one on performance . But you can’t do more than two sprays. It’s bold and challenging. I can’t decide if it’s good or bad. But it’s not fruity nor rotten nor stewed fruits . It’s just fig and very bitter orange.

This is the worst. Fragrance. Ever. It literally stinks. I tossed mine in the garbage. The trash actually smelled better than this repulsive concoction.

I don't think it's discontinued, since it appears again on the Byredo website... Let's hope not because it's my absolute favorite from the brand. Very underrated scent and so much better, also unique than others from this brand IMHO

LOVE PULP SOOOOOOO MUCH! It's sweet, juicy, tropical but also very fresh! Also has a good performance. I don't understand why more people don't love this perfume. Byredo please don't discontinue pulp 😭

My one true love, it’s a shame they discontinued you! I will treasure my bottle forever. This is the fruity fragrance in my eyes. It’s overwhelming, but daring and delicious. A fig meets the wall, splits wide, and releases its sharp, intoxicating sweetness.

I’d like to point out that Pulp is a fairly linear fragrance with only slight evolution over time. Despite this, it remains genuinely intriguing — fruity, juicy, and full of character. However, it leans heavily toward the feminine side. While I really enjoyed the composition, I didn’t feel entirely comfortable wearing it myself. I would much prefer to experience Pulp on my partner rather than on me. If a man were to wear this fragrance, it would suit someone younger; on an older wearer, it might feel somewhat out of place. And given its vibrant and fruity nature, I would particularly recommend it for spring. My rating: Recommended. (6/7)

Really doesn’t last at all.

I sprayed this again today after not having used my bottle in quite a while and it reminded me of the first time I discovered this fragrance. It was one of the first Byredo I had ever tested back in 2021 and it stood out to me as the best from their offering. And I strongly believe that it still is! There’s nothing quite like this. The most juicy, beautiful and slightly spiced basked of fruit. It’s so luxurious. If they made a room spray like this I’d want my house to smell like this during the autumn. I’m holding onto my 50ml bottle for dear life and will use this super sparingly! What an absolute shame that they discontinued this. I cannot believe some people think it smells like rotten fruit. It absolutely does not!!!!!! A 10/10 masterpiece!!!

This is like eating sun-ripened fruit on the beach in Greece. Looking out at the fig treas in the heat. Unique, but pleasing. Clean but edible! Will be getting this one for sure! This gave me what I wanted from philosykos, and brought me straight in vacation mode.

who doesn't want to smell like a perfectly ripe almost rotten fruit, or a still life painting?? this is so perfect and so addictive and just unique and delectable. if i could smell like the human personification of an overripe fruit for a cheaper price tag oh trust me i would. i'm in love. this is a biblical scent. so untraditional and it actually lasts all day. if i win the lottery i won't tell anyone but there will be signs...

This smells like a fig and blackcurrant kombucha in the best way possible. It’s tart, sweet, slightly creamy, and a little boozy. Pungent, yet smooth and comforting at the same time. Like overripe fruits teetering on the edge of rot. A beautiful juxtaposition of life and death. @invisiblestories on TikTok describes it best: it smells like the last days of summer when there’s a slight chill in the air, like how when you feel most alive is also when you feel most mortal, like how every still life is also a memento mori.

When I first started looking into BYREDO fragrances this was the first one that caught my attention. I tried looking for somewhere to buy a sample but to my despair I read about it being discontinued. Still, I was lucky; A couple months later I was headed to Göteborg and was able to smell it, and buy a bottle. None of my friends really liked it, and commented on the same thing as a lot of other reviewers are writing about. The unbearable sourness, and overwhelming moldy berry-note. To my nose, this is sour, sweet, and fresh but with a tart top note. The blackcurrant is very dominant initially, but it is more like a thick sirup-y smoothie. Not as a cheap juvenile shampoo as some have mentioned. I realize I don’t really understand what people mean when they have reviewed this as «loud» «pungent» and «rotten fruit». Yes, it is tart, but that is how blackcurrant smell? This is straight up just like that, but with a hint of sweetness just like those kinds of berries sorely need. The citrus zing is the perfect addition to this. In the initial drydown I get a lot of red apple and white flower, all the tart zingy-ness have disappeared from the fragrance and I am left with the sweet and floral notes. I am not getting any fig whatsoever, which is a bit sad, because I love fig notes. The fragrance feels very female leaning, with its light floral and fruity notes, but I wouldn’t bat an eye if I came across someone masculine leaning wearing this as well. It is also very long lasting for a fruity fragrance, and I am really happy that I have a bottle of this one in my collection.

The name is very fitting. From the start we are greeted with very sweet and tart black currant-fig-apple combo. It's energizing and the notes are easily distinguishable, smells almost like multivitamin fruit juice. In the heart the hyper sweet tiare start to intensify and even though I feel like it's unisex scent it is undeniably feminine leaning thanks to this tropical white flower. It gives a lot of creaminess and reminisce of body lotions for women. The fragrance doesn't change much and the fruits+tiare are the main players throughout the longevity. This is an addicting fruity scent, for the lovers of black currant and fig it's a "must smell". Sadly discontinued, but I am going to hoard as many used bottles as I can.

There's nothing else in the world like this. I Love it so! I can understand why some people are frightened that others might think you smell like borderline rotten fruit (while you're standing there salivating in your tarty-fruit stank)... But it's so worth the risk. The whole thing has such a tart, sharp, icy, juicy edge that no-one's first thought is going to be "she sat on some old, over-ripe fruit..." It's just KABLAM! - "Tarty/refreshingly unique! That girl is so exciting and interesting!... Perhaps she enjoys a fruit smoothie in the morning, I must ask her for the recipe." In any case, let the haters wear their Baccarat Rouges and their Black Opiums, and they can all smell like each other and each other's mothers. You, my dear, are Brave. Enjoy your fruity stank. You've earned it. If you love D&G Light Blue then you'll probably appreciate this too. It's nothing like the other monotoned frags by Byredo, so don't ignore it just because this frag house tends to be bland, over-hyped nothingness.

Pulp was sort of my signature in spring and summer some years ago. Back in 2018-2020. I absolutely love it. This is for a bold person that does not mind to stand out. I do not care what others think of my perfume, I wear it for myself. Pulp is a smoothie of super ripe fruits. Fig, apple, citrus, mango, pineapple, frangipani flowers on a base of cedar. It’s a more daring sibling to Byredo Bal d’Afrique and Super Cedar. Combine those 2, add some fig and steroids and you get Pulp. There is nothing like this, it’s a scent out of this world. Started wearing it in 2016 and over the years I have had 4 bottles and it has not changed or been reformulated. It is one of the 5 first original Byredo scents from 2006. Very strong and potent for the first 2-3 hours and then slightly more tamed but lasts a good 10-12 hours. BUT now it’s being discontinued. I am so sad to see this go. Just bought 2, the last 100ml + 50ml bottle from Byredo Stockholm store. Get one if you dare while it’s still available at some few retailers.

Store Test Short Review: Sour tart blackcurrant opening, with the classic cat urine feel, with a strong lasting base of rotting sour apple and syrupy fig, similar to sweet smoky sweat accords, as is found in “Overture Man” by Amouage for example, but fresher. Yes it is a beautiful and unique fruity scent that somehow feels very natural, but I don’t see why so many people are ignoring its dirty side, it’s very obvious if you’re familiar with similar accords, but I suppose it’s largely imaginative.

A fruit sallad or smoothie in a fragrance. Of the notes listed I mainly get apple and fig, but I also got grapefruit and banana oddly. Really cool and interesting. Perfect for summer!

I thought I didn’t need it because I had my rhubarb (rhubarb affecinado here👋🏻) note in La Tulipe but this one doesn’t even have the note I guess. Except but it sure outpaces most of my perfumes that do with the tangiest of juices. Just so happy I discovered it love it for warm weather

why do you think eve bit the apple? because it smelt and tasted exactly like this. think of tasting sweet fruit on the beach at the jersey shore in july, with the mixture of the fig, apple, and the ocean scent hitting your nose right afterwards. it’s intoxicating. so sweet yet so rotten, yet you crave another bite.

I was looking forward to an unusual fruity combination, but even though it's basically pleasant it still reminds me of potpourri they sell at cider mills in the fall. My nose can't detect much past the apple, and though it's bold and juicy, it's not the fruitiness mashup I was hoping for.

Very strong and juicy fragrance and was my signature till I emptied the bottle in 2021. I wore it mostly during spring and autumn as I think it’s a bit too heavy for warm summer weather but too fresh and fruity for the winter cold. As some people describe it and I totally agree on- it does smell like an overripe fruit, very sweet scent but it got that citrusy sourness from the bergamot with a hint of the sweet red apple and the green from fig.

Pulp is a compote of fruit so ripe it’s almost bursting, skin splitting under the weight of its own syrupy, all-natural sweetness. Sapid fig, juicy berries, and bruise-soft apples collide in a rush of tangy, pulpy excess. Lush, dripping, nearly too much. Like the imagery of a sun-drenched fruit basket tipped over, spilling its contents onto warm earth—not delicate, but fleshy, decadent, feasting greedily after a most abundant harvest. Praline makes its appearance not as overtly dessert but as a velvet-creamy, subtly-nutty undercurrent. Strangely compelling, addictive even, this fragrance is absolutely wonderful. Scrumptious and teeming with temptation... yet strangely not something I see myself reaching for often. Ultra ripe, ultra real, this may pose a challenge with the extreme extent of photorealism it holds. But it's undeniably alive.

Definitely one of those "popular for good reason" fragrances. Keeping in mind that this was released in 2008... I don't know what to say. In 2008, I don't think I'd ever smelled a fragrance that so perfectly captured the texture, and smell, of a piece of fruit. Yeah, Fragrantica says there's praline... meh, not really. This is all about biting into a crisp apple. The fig is definitely there, it's just not the main focus in my opinion. It's there in a way that seems to surround the apple. This is going to sound insane, but the fragrance also captures height and depth, in the shortness of putting your nose to your wrist. The fig seems to levitate around your nose, while the crisp apple sits on your wrist. Insane. I love it.

This is so sour, so photorealistic so watery. Like pulpy dark purple and red fruits that have just started to go bad. It smells like sangria. I truly hate this on my skin but it’s SO interesting. I spray it every few months just to evoke feelings and pictures in my brain. I’d never wear this out the house but am SO happy I have a decant to sniff whenever I’m in an adventurous mood <3
