Slow Dance

musky and mysterious warm evening feel: someone a few tables over at the old library is eating cherries and raspberries. a whisper of flowers from an open window. the taste of brandy in your mouth as you rifle through books. long lasting and decent sillage, more masculine to me but as its such an evocative fragrance, it paints an atmosphere rather than outlining a personality, so for that I'd say its for anyone to try. There is a note somewhere in here that smells like the back of my xbox 360 controller. I love it, but I'm biased. I imagine not all will catch the 00s warm-tech note and this is probably for the best.

I like it on a man. On me, not very much. I tried layering it with Phlur Cherry Stem and it wasn't bad.

Opens beautifully, then becomes a bit more dull with a amber with hints of alcohol, florals and greens.

Personally, this is my favourite from the Bailead range. It has a sexy, oriental scent. I mainly detect opoponax, patchouli and vanilla. 10/10

This smells like your highschool prom partner. He is your first love, first kiss, first everything. He picks you up with his dad's car, You guys danced slow. Such innocence of early love. Then you sniff the scent again, you're taken back to reality. It's been years, you already broke up with him. He is still that boy you danced with in your memory.. You grew up, no contact... It was nice when it lasted... Fitting of first love.

Evokes cough syrup, dr. Pepper, hospital but really addictive

For me this scent is not too sweet or synthetic. It’s warmth and coziness. When I first sprayed it I smelled almond which I didn’t remember seeing listed on the notes, but I think it was the balsamic notes I was catching. Nevertheless, the vanilla and slightly floral, resinous dry down are amazing and I keep waving my wrists under my nose to capture the essence. I love this comfort scent and can see myself often reaching for it— even for just staying at home.

Really sweet. When i tried it on paper, of course, the sweetness wasn't as pronounced. On skin, different story. I didn't take it as much as a fall/winter gourmand but more of an airy uplifting one. Projection is around 5 hours on my skin and sillage is pretty solid. Dry down is more boozy, indolic and carnal. Somewhat reminds me of tuberose mixed with amber. An overall above average scent.

Smells like feeling a bit under the weather, a bit of cough medicine, blushed cheeks and bitten lips, cashmere body con dress and still arriving to the date at the King Cole Bar to meet the man you have been messaging with for months. You enjoy a Coke while he enjoys a whiskey while remembering your grandmother’s words “you won’t feel butterflies, instead you will feel confident, safe and at peace” and you’re glad you went.

I'm generally pretty adventurous when it comes to fragrances but this one made me genuinely recoil. It has an EXTREMELY intense synthetic note to it that isn't for everyone. Definitely gives me a middle school vibe which is incredibly unpleasant in my opinion.

Ironically, this smelled very "mature" on me. Opening is definitely sweet and I get the cola reference some people mentioned, but it doesn't last more than about 10-15 before turning into a lingering, spicy, incensey dry down with not a lot of depth. Not one of my favorites from Byredo, but, unfortunately, one of the stronger and longer lasting of their scents on me.

Too sweet. This can easily get nauseating. No scent for office, car pooling etc.

I have a sample box to which i pulled out Slow dance to smell. At first i smelled that incense/appoponax you get from interlude but instead of that oregano note you get patchouli. After 1hr its smells like a heavy incense labdanum and patchouli which all combines nicely. I do agree with a review that it smells like a swedish fish with incense 😂 but in a good way. All in all i do like the fragrance its unique.

This one really threw me off (blind tested). It smells tart and citrussy (greenish) like vetiver and maybe pomelo. But it's the geranium and (sourish) opoponax. My nose has definitely been challlenged with this one :) I even guessed some cannabis, but no! None of that. Definitely feels green and soury to me still after seeing notes (sometims you see the notes and the smell lines up in your brain.) I definitely feel the geranium but still very tart to me. The drydown is a nice powdery but not distinct violet. Lovely scent!

Such a captivating smell! I love it! Slow Dance is an ooey purple rolled in grass. The bottle I have is presenting a more hay-forward smell for some reason. Anyone else also notice that its become more earthy? I certainly don't mind because this is already so unique. When I first got it, the fragrance reminded me a bit of an old favorite Escada Magnetism. Its still in there a bit, but Slow Dance is more barn than soda shop. Both are the best B movies you'll ever see. I love having fragrances that are mysterious and that seem to evolve over time. When there is just a touch of something I dont like, I know it is complex and will travel with me well through space and time.

smells like medicinal swedish fish, with a heavy dose of incense 5/10

This is soooo similar to Maison Margiela’s Music Festival but with added vanilla. Also it smells good on both, women and men and is definitely giving me mysterious vibes.

This is my first Byredo fragrance - I've been to the stores to test the fragrances multiple times but I've never really found any that really stood out to me. I'd blind bought this on a massive clearance discount because I was being impulsive and have a soft spot for discontinued fragrances. I also figured that I'd probably like the opoponax/labdanum/patchouli combination and was right on the money with that. The opening was very similar to Olibanum's Opoponax but about an hour in, warmed up with body heat, the lactonic violet and incense started coming through and it went from a, "huh, this smells alright" to "woah, this is gorgeous!" In its dry down, there's a warm booziness that is actually really reminiscent of engaging in a slow dance with someone you're interested in. It's a moment where you're giddy about being embraced but are also full of uncertainties as to how the rest of the night is about to unfold. I think the most interesting part for me is that it also reminds me of the smoke machine that they use in events. It's a strange, specific nostalgia but I definitely enjoy this fragrance!

From the moment I sniffed this in it's bottle I knew it was a hard no. It felt minty fresh, which is not my thing. It reminded me of someplace― not the dentist, but somewhere with bubblegum and stickers? I was filled with doubt, but already had a sample so I had to try it on my skin. When I sprayed it on my skin, my cat winced― she hated it too. On me, it smells like pine or Christmas or mint. Over the hours I wore it, it grew on me SLIGHTLY, but I would never be able to get over the initial blast.

hmm I feel like it's a perfume that you cannot dislike but it's also hard to get crazy about it. It's moderately light, warm and deep just as the name Slow Dance. There's nothing too special about this scent. I can see that it fits for everyday work more than an outdoor scent.

Not exactly how I thought it was going to smell, the cognac comes off as syrupy and sweet it smells more like cherry to me than most cherry perfume lol but I’ve come around to it and the sweet myrrh stays throughout the whole scent just supported by different things, love the opening but hate the mid too much the labdanum and patchouli come out too much imo and makes the scent dirty and then it becomes ambery and sweet Inerlude like base, its slightly weird but not bad at all just hyped this one up too much and have options I love more

This is a balsamic amber scent with a prominent note of violet and some smoky depth in the dry down. There is something nostalgic and familiar about this scent and I can’t pinpoint what it is. Jerome Epinette is the nose behind this. It is very cosy and appealing but I think I enjoy the opening more than the dry down. And it doesn’t quite stand out as unique enough to warrant the price of being full bottle worthy. Slow Dance is smooth, quiet, Autumnal and romantic. A like but not a love.

This is the most interesting fragrance I’ve ever smelled. I’ve had it for a couple years, and I’m still trying to figure it out. Something about it is nostalgic. Very sweet, very hard to describe- but it sort of smells like Dr. Pepper. I get amber, tobacco, licorice, incense. It stays on my clothes for days.

It’s spicy vanilla. Has a strong independent mysterious but sweet feminine vibe.

Testing my sample; opens with sharp and slightly boozy resins that leans medicinal, gets warmer and more vanillic as it dries down on the skin. There's sweetness present, but on my skin it's in the background as the medicinal and boozy resins take center stage. Cool weather only, autumn and winter. Definitely full bottle worthy.

Maybe I’m missing something, but all I get from this fragrance is … berries. Fruity, juicy berries with a mysterious twist; a musky, dusty vintage vibe that feels like it’s stepped out of an old photograph. And you know what ? I’m not complaining. It’s like someone bottled the essence of a berry bowl at a grand Victorian dinner party.

The opening is a bit cough syrup-y, but the dry down 40+ min later is a gorgeous, sweet amber with some vanilla and incense. Then it lasts on my skin that way for a good 6-8 hours or more. I really like it and recommend it, if you can find it for a good price like I did.

I smell plum here. That's the fruitiness I get from this. It's syrupy sweet plum liquor. Goes on warm and dries down smoky. One of Byredo's absolute best.
