Paris – Venise

ChanelBaddie below has said what I came here to say – this is a beautiful scent with zero sillage and longevity. If there were an EDP version of this it would be on my want list immediately, but knowing how much profit Chanel makes each year this is shamefully overpriced for the performance. L’Eau it may be but it currently cannot match the faintest of weak watery body mists.

powdery, citrusy, florals with a lotion like feel. Classy and sophisticated but with horrible performance. I wish they made an EDP version of this. It smells like an in between of Comete&Misia

Gorgeous. Great balance of powdery iris and floral notes. The way this projects is also very appealing, not quiet or too loud. I enjoy the way the vanilla introduces itself, almost milky. Really comforting and cocooning. Love it.

True to its scent pyramid, the fragrance has a distinct peppery orange profile. Unfortunately, I could not help to make the connection to the orange scented Fabuloso. The perfume smells a tad medicinal for those that appreciates these scents. I can see the appeal but it is not for me.

Les Eaux de Chanel Paris - Venise is a beautiful powdery, tender iris floral fragrance that is nearly imperceptible on my skin. It's a hot day in Texas and I was outside for a while. My skin was very warm to the touch when I applied it. It's definitely a low sillage personal fragrance made for the wearer's enjoyment only. It's a very fluffy down pillow in a pillowcase that is cool to the touch. The citrus notes give it a nice lift and freshness. This is for the girls who really don't like fragrance, but enjoy the luxury of Chanel.

Sometimes, with smaller brands, or fragrance lines, I find it helpful to make a group review that directly compares all the different scents within that brand or line. It works best with smaller sets of fragrances, because a large grouping becomes too unwieldy. I just did this with the Marvel Superhero scents, ..so why not Les Eaux de Chanel? The naming rationale for Les Eaux de Chanel scents is rather contrived. It's just some of the places that Coco Chanel liked to travel to from Paris, ..,including Paris to Paris because I guess sometimes she just stayed home. All the same, explicitly evoking luxurious travel to cosmopolitan cities and resorts, does play into Chanel's well-marketed self-image. Notably, three of Les Eaux de Chanel are primarily citrus colognes, ...and the other three are much less so. • Paris-Biarritz is the most simple and classical of the citrus colognes. It's well-made for what it is, but what it is, is the same basic scent that dates back to such antique standards as the original Eaux de Cologne and even Acqua della Regina. So now Chanel has its own version to offer, ...but I'd rather have of the originals. This I found boring. • Paris-Riviera is just a more richly developed white floral version of the same, and with an ambery-santal base. Likewise, this scent profile also has a thousand kissing cousins, but its added complexity gives more places for distinctive nuances to hide and surprise. I found Chanel's take on this to be perfectly pleasant, even if not exceptionally memorable. • Paris-Deauville is the most novel of these fresh-citrus Eaux. That note of basil changes everything as it rules over all (Basil does mean 'king'). It's also my favourite of the first three. Such savoury, potagerie-centric scents are still uncommon enough in perfumerie to give this Deauvillean sojourn a distinct sense of the niche-esque. If worn in company, it may inspire attention, interest, possibly even conversation. How nice to be noticed. • Paris-Édimbourg is certainly the farthest outlier among Les Eaux de Chanel, just as Edinburgh is the geographic outlier among its listed destinations. The boldness of its green-woody aromatics awakens the senses like being struck by an icy north wind. This is the scent that fully grabbed my imagination and made me consider it the masterwork among the six. ...But of course, context is everything. If I had encountered this fragrance in the company of other masculine-leaning, coniferous scents, would I still have found it so remarkable? I'm not sure, for I have yet to encounter it in any other context than among its fellow Eaux. • Paris-Venise has the most notes, ...and does the least with them. Its supposedly lead note of orris is the muddled, indistinct kind that covers everything else in a powder that is neither sweet nor dry enough to be enjoyable. While sampling this, I recall wondering what I was smelling, but not really caring about the answer. From a semi-objective viewpoint of perfumery construction, this one seems most akin to failure. • Paris-Paris is obviously meant to be the central homecoming scent, after all of Coco's, and our own, far-flung travels abroad. It is focused on a modern semi-classic: the rose-patchouli accord (rosechouli?). Evidentially, to some Parisians, the rose-patchouli scent profile is especially evocative of the French capital. Diptyque also has a rosechouli fragrance explicitly referring to Paris: Eau Capitale, ...and Nicolai's Patchouli Intense is another renowned reference. However, compared to these other two, Chanel's version leans more into the rose than the patchouli. Probably the more commercially safe decision, since rose is likely the more widely preferred note of the two. ...And being a rose lover myself, I am completely fine with that choice.

This is a truly beautiful one from Olivier Polge. Super bright with a lovely powdery feminine dry down. It's no surprise that this one is a winner for me. It has much of the DNA of Coco Mademoiselle and blue de Chanel. Two of my all time favorites but it is stronger in its Iris notes and has a more muskie clean. Almost soapy dry down. Definitely more feminine strongly recommend

This is everything I dreamed of it being. If you love the scent of modern vanillic lipsticks and makeup powder, this is for you. It's like a cloud. It also has a touch of expensive lotion scent to it. Just the ultimate clean, put together, but cozy perfume

I really enjoy this scent. I'm a guy and though many say it's feminine, to me it just smells clean and soapy. I feel that anyone can pull it off. Very well put together scent for the hot Summer. I feel like iris is not often used as a light freshy note, so this is cool to have on hand. It doesnt last too long and is light, so it's one you'll want to over-spray and reapply and have a small bottle on hand. But that is expected with this line of Les Eaux. They're kind of intended to over-spray. 8/10

This is a beautiful scent. Yes it is a little bit feminine but guys can pull this off if you dress up well with bright color I guess. It smells elegant and soft. Don't expect this to be a strong type of a fragrance cause I think chanel purposely made this for intimate to moderate performance. I got 6-7 hours Longevity, solid 1 Meter projection for about 1-1,5 hour and the sillage was intimate. Great for office or outdoor lunch in summer or spring time.

The style is very similar to Iris Infusion by Prada, but the perfume is even lighter, with more citrus and less iris. Great for a "French shower" in summer, but I have better alternatives.

I was excited for this. Got a sample last summer and loved it. Finally got a bottle and it's a let down. Doesn't smell anything like the sample, basically it smells like powder, sort of a baby powder scent. Disappointed. Edit: still trying out. It has resemblance to no19 Poudre, the iris, minus the fresh green notes. Ends up being a very light iris powdery-ish with barely a citrus hint. It's ok just not the same fresh creamy vibe of the sample.

I just got a sample of Paris - Venise along with my all time favorite bottle of Jersey delivered. So, Paris - Venise! I am really puzzled in the most pleasant way. I sprayed it few times and I was trying to distinguish the fragrance. And I can’t. It feels like a second I’m smelling one perfume and a second later, I smell another one. It’s not like a scent is developing, it’s like I have simultaneously sprayed two different fragrances. They are not fighting between each other, I can’t say they are complementing each other either. But they are simply existing with their own uniqueness! And then I realized, the name of the perfume. There are two destinations! And I can’t believe whether there is a possibility someone to be such a genius so to formulate a fragrance which behaves like two instead of one. Simultaneously! It’s unbelievable, but that’s what I smell. I get something that reminds me of Gabrielle, which I do not necessarily like (honestly, I dislike), but in this formula is subtle and quite enjoyable to me. And there is something else. And I can’t catch it. I’m getting closer, but I can’t reach it, and it feels like a hide and seek game. But I like it! 🤭 And I am all for it! For the game 🔥

Fresh Oriental - that best describes Chanel Paris-Venise in my opinion. You can try to describe it, I'm sure, in many different ways - everyone has their own words to say and their very own perception of each fragrance.Fresh Oriental I think was maybe even AI generated general description of Paris-Venise but it stock with me. This perfume is just class in my opinion. Oh boy, it just does smell oh-so-good. Venise - to me anything Venetian brings something sweet and decadent to mind. Paris-Venise is perhaps sweetish but in a smooth way. So smooth. Paris-Venise is NOT a gourmand fragrance per se, oh no. Not at all. Not one bit. But wearing it feels like You had just eaten a coffee-ice cream dessert at a Venetian cafe and have that smooth satisfactory aftertaste. Paris-Venise is as far away removed from anything "coffee" as it can get but I'm talking about the power of our senses right now. Paris-Venise opens with a bright neroli but it is not screechy - absolutely nothing screechy in its composition. That's the "fresh" side of it. Neroli never gets sour but only deepened by the iris and Tonka bean. It also has powdery and ambery shadows of benzoin and the most purest of vanilla (noone but Chanel has the highest quality vanilla in fragrances in my opinion). Paris-Venise likewise OG Coco Mademoiselle can be described as fresh Oriental but they are much different fragrances however I can see if someone likes one of those two - they can be easily drawn to the other. They are two different perfumes with one thing in common - ambery but FRESH. Yes, only Chanel could ever pull this off. One main difference between Coco Mademoiselle and Paris-Venise is that the latter has absolutely no rose as opposed to the former. So if You want this ambery and fresh oriental - which You know will have to absolutely contain orange or neroli, just must contain it - but You want it to have the iris depth and not a trace of rose in it's notes - Paris Venise is a must. The iris (or Orris root) is what is responsible for the powder in this. I love powder in perfume - when someone describes as fragrance as having too much of a baby powder effect - it is an actual bait for me. Paris-Venise doesn't necessarily smell like baby wipes straight up but it still a very delicate yet very much there powdery effect. Paris-Venise - I can't imagine anyone not liking it. It's bright - but not screechy like at all. That's the magic. Paris-Venise evokes pastel colors of powdery orange or peachy color. Again without screechiness - very pastel in composition. It's so beautiful. It sits right next to #22 extrait as one of my all time favorites - that's how GOOD it is. It also smells like it has plenty of Chanelade class in it. Very much. I absolutely love it. Paris-Venise is what stopped me from loving Comete. Paris-Venise is my Comete in my collection. You know when You buy the (very covered by me - because of the size of the bottles) Les Exclusifs set of 5 - it has things like Gardenia and Coromandel in it. Two different ends of the spectrum in perfumes. But somewhere in the middle You will find Comete. That completes the variety of the set. Well Paris-Venise is that middle ground for me in my Chanel collection. Something between light and dark. Oh my goodness I am even quoting what the Chanel website states about Paris-Venise - they said it contrasts - shadow and light. I did that unintentionally - just quoted the maker of this fragrance. That perfect middle ground in my own perfume collection. That beautiful pastel with depth. I love it for life. I have a huge bottle of it - now less than half full - and the smaller one on the way (I LOVE smaller bottles of perfumes - always have).

This is gorgeous but does not last. If you have a L'occitane in your area try Nobile Epine. Same iris floral powder scent, but much cheaper and lasts.

I think I commented about this perfume before, to say that it's like inedible orange cake. im commenting now to say that i was wrong, it's like gondola boards made out of orange wood warming under the post-midday sun. also PS, one of my fav reviews here is the one saying how "it's something that a very rich lady puts on after her bath and then goes out to lunch."

Zesty Fresh, soft sweet, warm (lightly soapy) clean, watery fresh.

Goes on like JM Poppy and Barley but sweeter. Lots of sweet flowers and a gourmand vanilla base powdered up with orris and benzoin. It’s colorful, but so not my kind of thing. Definitely dries towards pastel.

One of my favorite after-shower perfumes. It gives me that clean-girl, effortless elegance without trying… just perfect for stepping out of the shower and feeling fresh and feminine.

Bottled chic! Very worth it if you want a Chanel that is not as recognizable as the ones you can buy from many retailers not directly from a Chanel boutique. It has Chanel DNA and class and is a perfect everyday companion for a whole year. It is musky-powdery enough to be good for evenings too. It is predominantly floral, the powdery notes are far in the base. Iris dominates on me. It has fresh facets highlighted by lemon, bergamot, orange and petitgrain. The citrus notes are subtle but tangible. The composition has a lot of splendor and depth. It is light and feminine but you feel it around. The powder is such a lovely type. And it has violet facets. It reminds me of Chance Eau Tendre in style but less girly. As if Chanel Comete and Chance Eau Tendre were merged into one creation. In the drydown I feel orris and benzoin, and still the citrus - it feels very lady-like and light. I am very satisfied with this beauty.

This is my favourite from the Les Eaux line. First of all, I like that it's different from the others. To me, the opening of this smells like an expensive face cream. It starts off very creamy and white, with only a hint of citrus. It quickly becomes powdery, smelling of violet, and eventually just iris. It's a very specific type of scent, and only a minority of people will like these kinds of powdery iris/violet scents. It definitely has the "perfume that doesn't smell like a perfume" vibe. I enjoy this, and other powdery scents, but this is not a category killer for me, so I don't know if I'd find it worth owning. My favourite powdery makeupy scent is Givenchy Irresistible Nude Velvet. Sadly that one is even more expensive than Chanel! More worth it to me though, as its a stronger formulation.

This is such a beautiful, elegant feminine fragrance! The blending of the florals and citruses are seriously so seamless. I can't stop sniffing myself it's just so beautiful! This is very uplifting and bright but at the same time there's that comforting slightly powdery vanilla musky base to round it all out. This profile reminds me a bit of Xerjoff Dama Bianca (which I really love), but this is a sparkly version! The presence of the violet, iris, and orris notes makes my heart sing! The Chanel house has definitely sealed my respect after this beauty, which followed after me getting a sniff of Gabrielle, another gorgeous blend of florals and exuding femininity. Despite this being an EDT, I personally find this pleasantly strong. I will gladly add this to my collection and would use this year round, day or night.

Opens unisex with a nice powdery citrus - but it quickly becomes a very feminine fragrance. Floral, powder bomb. Smells like timeless femininity. Pink is the proper color for this frag. This is surprisingly projecting hard on my hand, but I know many people are saying the opposite so idk, maybe it's just me and the sample i got. Either way, this isn't for me, but it's totally for someone else!

This is lovely on paper for hours but turns baby powdery on my skin after 30 min. The first bit is so nice! I had high hopes.

I don't know if this makes sense, but I associate this perfume with blue jeans and a white t-shirt. A natural beauty. I like it, it's clean and light and unisex. Perfect for when you want to smell nice without being too much.

Pretty, but a wee bit samey. There's almost too much, yet too little going on. There are lot of notes, but not enough of a clear statement. I think it's pretty, and wearable but it doesn't really conjure the wonders of Venice for me. Perhaps there's a wateriness in the violet leaf? A lightness and nostalgia of twilight in Venice? Everyone's experience ofVenice is different I mean Venice is such an extraordinary place, you'd want the oriental, the mysterious, the contrasts, the elegance, even the decay and texture, but also romance. Quite an ask really. I understand that Chanel were aiming for something more tender here, a little bit of heartbreak, but maybe it's just a bit too gentle? I can't imagine Gabrielle/Coco wearing this!
