The initial opening is a resinous Amber note with undertones of Rose. 15 Min - The Amber has taken a back seat to the Rose note who is making itself more prominent. 30 Min - The Rose note continued to move it's way forward in the scent profile and but it is not taking over and is quite soft. 60 Min - The sweetness from the Amber is starting to bounce back and making itself known. It has not taken over the scent profile, but definitely trying to push into the dominant note. Dry Down: The dry down of this fragrance is a resinous Amber scent (semi-sweet) with very light undertones of Rose. Performance: Projection of this fragrance is Good with the frangrance creating a scent bubble of about 2+ Feet for about 3 Hours. The sillage is also Good with a scent trail of about 3 feet for almost 3 hours. Longevity is Good with the fragrance lasting on my skin about 7 to 8 hours, but becoming a skin scent at about 3.5 hours.

Ambre Nuit is very powdery, like straight-up baby powder. It's also incredibly feminine― I'm surprised so many people find this to be unisex (and I'm a firm believer that most fragrances are unisex). It lacks depth. In the opening it smells like alcohol, then gets peppery. It grows on me a little bit in the drydown, but not enough. It's perfectly nice, but I wouldn't wear it.

Анонім

it's a really synthetic amber smell but it's still high quality at that, nice stuff but nothing mind blowing.

At first this scent reminded me of something I smelled before, perhaps walking around the Macy's perfume counter, so it's not a very unique fragrance, but that said, it is a lovely, warm amber floral. What it lacks in originality, it makes up for in other areas, like balance. It is perfectly blended and there are no off-putting notes or notes that just don't belong. The amber accord I believe is low on the labdanum, and heavy on the benzoin and vanilla. The benzoin resin has a cinnamic tinge to it. The rose is not the main player, it's there, but just as a compliment to the almost incense-y amber. The amber/benzoin here reminds me of the accord used in some of Ariza L. Legrand's offerings. The keyword is "cozy", so not sure if this would work in an office setting, but for sure evenings, dinner, a play, opera, etc. Or at home snuggled with a lover, or as a bedtime scent.

Beautiful fragrance!! Very sexy in the air!! Tried the extrait, disappointed there was no rose at all!!

i do love this but what throws me off is that,it kinda smells like obsession for men from calvin klein.

For the life of me I cannot smell this. It's surly there, people around me do and sometimes I catch it in the air, I can even detect it on my cloths a few days later. but the wood molecules here just makes me smell nothing. When I can smell it, the main thing I get is a big dose of cinnamon and sweet-amber below it, rose is there too. Airy, unique, transparent. When I could smell it, it was more than great, but I guess its not the experience I'm looking for in a fragrance. soft, appealing, French perfumery. P.S definitely have a sourness in the opening (for few seconds) that caught me off guard at first.

Ambre Nuit opens with a powerful, potent, and sweet rush of amber and florals. It seems to skip the citruses that are proposed to exist as top notes, and jumps straight to sweet roses and amber. The fragrance quickly takes on a powdery, almost woody/cedar-like quality, and, hard to detect, there is almost a smell of urine underneath it all. At this stage, most would categorize the fragrance as "feminine" due to the sweetness and heavy florals. After drying down for 5 or 10 minutes, Ambre Nuit morphs quite a bit: the florals/rose subside, the amber becomes louder and more complex, and the fragrance becomes more powdery and almost a bit resinous. It's still quite sweet, but less so than the first few minutes, and the fragrance feels more balanced. Still, it's quite powerful and almost assaults the nose with its strength. Unfortunately, the urine-like smell remains - I believe it comes from the amber, and I doubt most people would interpret the smell the same way I do. It's certainly not a dealbreaker, especially because it's so subtle by this point, but it is worth noting. As I was smelling this and writing my review, a question popped into my head. Yes, this fragrance is nice, but can I see myself wearing it? Would I ever buy a bottle? Unfortunately, the answer to both questions is a clear no. I can't put my finger on the exact reason why - it's not the slightly off smell I detected, it's not that the fragrance feels feminine, and it's not due to any single note/quality. Ambre Nuit is just not for me; there's something about it that doesn't click with my nose, even though I truly appreciate this fragrance quite a bit.

i have no idea how to start this review saying anything else other than this is one of the best things ever it smells so luxurious in the way that uhhhh hold on let me think of an analogy. okay yeah think of it as the way that jewelry compliments a dressed up outfit. that's what the rose and amber together smell like. the amber is the all black fit/dress, which is nice, but the rose is the gold/silver (take ur pick) that makes the edges of the fit sparkle and come together that turns the outfit from "okay cool" to "holy shit that's drip." they both play with each other and complement each other in such a beautiful way i absolutely love this. wish ts lasted longer tho don't wanna do 4 sprays each side of the mf neck just to have ppl smell me. regardless this is beautiful

Very easy to use for me. A bit pricey though.

@Dr.M.Fadhil Man, you’re tripping. Please don’t write any more reviews. Either you’re trolling, or your nose is broken. These two fragrances are not similar at all.

It's a copy of amber sultan by serge lutens , I have both of them

Анонім

finally a fresh clean unisex rose scent that a man can wear opening starts with a fizzy cola/champagne note , then dries into a talcum powder scent with slight hint of rose . it has its proyection but weak sillage, suitable for office settings

So disappointed with this fragrance. Don't get me wrong it is absolutely beautiful - but it does not last at all and can smell different on skin vs. clothes vs. metal (my watch). I purchased this during a long layover in CDG for a decent price - about $70 less than here. I was determined to purchase a perfume and for some reason this one smelled a little different (the tester) on my skin and lasted much longer when I tested it out at the airport. For some reason, it smells differently and does not last AT ALL - not even past the few minutes mark - on my skin in the bottle I have at home and it is not as feminine or floral. Maybe this one needs to sit for a little while on the shelf to get better? I will try that since I tested it out in two different stores and both of those lasted and smelled beautifully - but what came home with me - though similar - is not exactly the same scent and does not last very well.

It starts with a spicy note, akin to cardamon - dry and mature. Pepper is there as well, not too loud, adding to the oriental feel of the top. Rose stays hidden for a while, and only a hint of sugar-like sweetness suggests that there is a flower, waiting for the right time to open its petals and bloom. When she finally appears, she is mysterious and an unusual self, as if she is wearing a mask at Venetian Carnival daring you to guess her identity, flirting with your senses and playing hide and seek. This rose, opened by the spices, wrapped in the golden amber is a flower from a different universe altogether. She is neither too sweet nor too obvious, she is not of a common variety, and her name/type is an enigma. She is aristocratic, luxurious and unique. No other rose will feel the same. Amber is like a cloth of gold, with sunshine woven into it. It is smooth and flowing and a perfect partner for the rose. I can also feel the wood completing the composition, a perfect final accord for a fragrance that started with dry spices. The scent does not just "drop off", it is beautifully thought through and put together, like Doga's waltz from "My Sweet and Tender Beast" - an immortal love story in the days long gone by, revived in the brilliant creation of François Demachy

Shimmering honied amber with fresh, lightly spicy, dewy roses. It's warm and airy, not too stifling but has presence and is a major compliment getter. Perfect every season but summer, it's too warm then to appreciate this beauty.

I am reorganising perfumes in my basement: Have an original case & bottle Ambre Nuit , still wrapped in plastic foil: code: 2R01 ( 2012)

as a woman who does not like those super super girly smelling rose frags, I appreciate how this is very unisex. that’s all, love this stuff.

Анонім

This is magnificent, but be careful, new Francis formula with the 100ml bottles is a disaster, another Dior Classic ruined by Francis. Get yourself the 2018 Demachy formula, its really really good

Анонім

Dior sure does love it's Roses. And each rose-centric compositions' worth appreciating. This Demachy creation makes this rose so much more wearable by men that it was actually regarded and marketed/sold as a masculine in 2009 but fervently purchased by ladies nonetheless so much so that it's unisex now. It's a warm spicy rose. It's warmth and spiciness it gathers from its rich amber. Whilst under Demachy this house gave us some great roses : Santal Noir, La Colle Noire, Oud Ispahan. Kurkdjian if I remember likes his orange blossoms. It has a typical cologne like aftershave vibe to be perceived as a masculine but the rose and floral gives it the right femininity and it's this duality that keeps me admiring this brew. The only con is it's pricing. Get decants from trustworthy sellers if you can. I do wish fragrantica gave us a separate page for each brand where we can give our likes from each house and discuss one brand's perfumes overall.

Love at first sniff. So unapologetically simple but done to the highest standard. Reminds me of the Ambre Diptyque candle in the best way possible!

Анонім

Ohhh I like this! Its a really creamy, soft and woody amber. Might sound weird but it kind of reminds me of vanilla pudding with rum raisins. Lovely! Perfect for fall and winter.

Анонім

glowing amber with rose petal and a pinch of pepper, bright and warm. this is the perfect scent for fall

Анонім

A very bright, aromatic fragrance with a subtle pepperiness, soft rose, and warm amber. It has this perfect balance of freshness, sweetness, and amber depth that makes the opening feel really beautiful. The notes stay quite linear, but in a clean, elegant way. There’s also a green earthy touch with a bit of powderiness that gives it character, and it wears perfectly unisex. Honestly, it’s such a beautiful perfume simple in notes yet sophisticated and class it exudes Along with Vanilla Diorama Gris dior and purple oud this has become one of my top favorites from Dior. It could easily have been a 10/10, but at this price the performance isn’t strong enough. So overall it’s a 9/10, though the scent itself is a full, effortless 10.

Анонім

Let's start with the fact that I don't like rose as a note in perfumes (with some exceptions) , oud/rose combo too. But Ambre Nuit is just perfectly made, the rose is in the back and adding a twist on the amber. It has freshness and lightness but it is also deep and sensual. Masterclass by François Demachy.

This is how amber should smell !!! Wow. Extraordinary. Tried this after complaining about bleu de chanel l’exclusif’s amber and this one is a work of art. Thank you for showing me this side of amber.

My favorite fragrance off all time.

Анонім

A very clean amber perfume, suitable for spring fall and winter

Анонім

This is one of my favorite fall fragrances. It is not overly complex which i like, it basically smells of amber and rose but it's blended so perfectly. It smells spicy, sensual, dark and mysterious, it's everything you'd want from a cool-weather date night fragrance. This can be worn during the day but it especially shines at night. If Dior put out creations like these, they would easily be the number 1 fragrance house, but it's not the case unfortunately. But Ambre Nuit is niche level, it's a 10/10, perfection.

Анонім

Pretty straightforward fragrance that doesn't beat around the bush. A sensuous amber with a very light rose.
