Dolce Vita

Dolce Vita has been a constant in my scent collection for years. I layer it with Miss Dior and the two of them together create a heady fragrance that, with my particular body chemistry, simply works. The two combined have very good sillage and longevity. I sprayed them on yesterday afternoon and the scent is still projecting on my clothes this morning. This combination has gotten compliments that the two worn separately have not. Of all the many mishaps I’ve had experimenting with different scent combinations, along with a few successes, Dolce Vita and Miss Dior layered are the most delightfully harmonious.

My most favorite perfume! I tried the new formulation and had to look for a vintage bottle from the 1990s because I realised how weak the reformulation became. Vintage Dolce Vita smells so much more luxurious, glamorous, cozy, joyful and optimistic. It is also an alluring and adictive fragrance. The notes blend well in it, producing an effervescent effect that reminds me of coca cola. It is just so memorable and I feel like no modern fragrance can ever be on a par with it! I also love the bottle design as a golden sphere with dimples/ craters. I used to wear Dolce Vita a lot in the past and enjoyed every spray!

Dolce Vita is the loveliest blend of cinnamon, vanilla, and juicy fruits I have ever smelled. Fear not—it is soft, gentle, and playful; it never feels heavy. It is like a night of champagne, laughter, and kisses... Seek out the vintage version; it is perfect. In this instance, I am adamant about the vintage because it is soft and silky—like a Dior Angora kitten wrapped in a sweet, wonderful scent. It is one of the greatest perfumes in history, and it has aged so well that it actually rejuvenates young people who have an old-fashioned mindset...

Has a very classic and elevated feel, definitely a timeless, feminine fragrance. Fancy without being arrogant. Good longevity.

Very nice spicy fragrance. It's very alcoholic in the top, but then it becomes a nice warm scent. I think maybe the eau de parfum has mo sillage, this is moderate/close but long lasting. I don't think it goes well with summer days, but it probably goes well at any other moment.

Super beautiful but you can wear it only in Fall 😅

To me it most closely resembles Jaipur Homme edp but this is much better, less sweet, less suffocating and less powdery and less feminine. It almost has something metholated in it maybe coming from the cardomom, the spices are real in this one and can turn a little funky, it's overall a nice clean, spicy, soapy cinnomon, sweet honey, a little bit of freshness. It has an old school apricot bubble gum vibe to it, some soda vibes in the opening. I wouldn't really recomend it for summers but if you want to wear something heavy this can work for nightime and windy conditions.

This fragrance holds a special place in my heart, evoking beautiful memories and a profound sense of happiness and nostalgia. It possesses a timeless, romantic, and unique character, balanced perfectly without being overly sweet or spicy. Dior has created yet another masterpiece. I find myself compelled to acquire a fresh bottle just to revisit those cherished moments

I bought a mini splash bottle off Ebay so I could determine whether I loved this or not. If the opening hour of this scent lasted for 3 or 4 hours it would be a love for me. What I bought was an EDT as I could not find a EDP. It seems to be either a discontinued fragrance or a reformulated one as the reviews for the vintage scent, about 2000 give or take, were highly positive. I believe what I bought was vintage. I was expecting to fall in love with this. A mostly floral fragrance. It is lovely but at least on mine skin loses any projection after about 2 hours and by 3 to 4 hours it is a skin scent. I have yet to try it on clothing and I hope it might last longer versus on my skin. I am new to trying scents on fabrics but the one test I did with another scent surprised me. It not only lasted longer but the scent didn't transform into the middle or based notes as rapidly. I got the wonderful top notes for a few hours! If Dolce Vita lasted longer or there was a EDP version this would be a love for me. But the EDT, while a lovely scent, just doesn't pack much punch. Office safe. Not a strong scent. Just nice and pleasant. Absolutely safe. No one around you should ever complain about this scent. However, I'm looking for something to fall in love with. "Pleasant" and "safe" just doesn't do it for me. I want a more assertive scent.

The only other perfume that truly reminds me of Dolce Vita is Vanilla Hinoki by Aroma M (niche New York independent perfumer) which is a compliment! It's true the reformulation has taken some depth out of Dolce Vita, but it's still pleasant. I first encountered it on my friend's girlfriend and immediately asked 'what's that lovely scent?' I bought it shortly after and it was one of the most easy-to-wear perfumes I've owned - just right for almost any occassion, though in summer I'd go for something fresher on hot days. I've always loved woody perfumes, and I think it's true that formative experiences from childhood influence your perfume loves. For me woody perfumes are reassuring and comforting, reminding me of family holidays and regular outings to the forests. And in Dolce Vita you also get the ultimate comfort scent, namely vanilla - the scent of home-baked biscuits, treats and birthday cakes. A consistent 'like' for me, and it would be 'love' if they brought the depth of sandalwood back, but sandalwood is a tricky perfume ingredient these days.

Got one for my fiancé. It's my favorite feminine perfume of all time, then goes Samsara & Shiseido's Feminite du Bois. I don't want to try and tell you how it smells like because many other people have said more than enough. When I made the purchase I had low expectations for the performance, but I said F it who cares it's a Christmas present after all. Surprisingly, its loud and goes for all day. Fiancé happy, me happy.

This perfume is one of my all time loves. It was late September 1995 and I had just come back from a late summer holiday in Corfu where my husband had bought Jean Paul Gaultier edt (which is now called Classique), which was the perfume that everyone seemed to be wearing there at the time. The weather in the UK had taken a turn and summer was gone and replaced by a cool, sunny autumnal day. I had just nipped in to my local Boots before going to collect my dog from the Kennels and they had just had a new perfume in, Dolce Vita, I fell in love at first sniff. This beautiful effervescent, illuminating and enveloping scent instantly made me feel so happy and warm inside, I knew then that I had to have it. I rushed home to tell my husband, as then, we had a young family and any purchases were on mutual agreement. When he smelled it he instantly went to Boots and bought it. We missed collecting the dog that day. Even though I don’t reach for her like I used to, I will always have this perfume (vintage) in my collection. It brings back so many happy memories and instantly lifts my mood. Unfortunately it has been reformulated beyond belief and so I only buy and use vintage.

NOTHING BUT LOVE

For years, this has been one of my favourite fragrances. It’s sweet, spicy and enveloping. I can clearly smell juicy peach, magnolia and a hint of cinnamon. The woody notes give the composition a creamy, slightly resinous character. It’s more of a vintage style scent, but full of charm and class. Unfortunately, it’s no longer as long lasting as it used to be, these days it stays on the skin for about 4–6 hours, and the projection reaches roughly an arm’s length.

Ive been buying fragrances for 25 years. I tried this today for the first time. This must have been shocking in '94. Way ahead of it's time. It's so spicy for a femme fragrance it could be masculine. The vanilla is to die for. Was this almost feminite du bois? There are fragrances and there are works of art. This falls in the latter category. Like Dune pour homme they hide the tester so you have to ask for it. It is still in production for the die hard fans and those who have exquisite taste in perfume. Gorgeous.

I wore this when it first came out, in my early 20s. I went through a few bottles in the late 1990s. What a gorgeous, romantic, joyful perfume! Smooth, sweet, and a hint of a wool sweater smell to my nose. I also have Femininité du Bois, and they are relatives, but def not very similar. FdB is sharper, thinner, and woodier. DV is fluffy and warm. The current formulation of Dolve Vita is a paler shadow of its former self. It’s a watercolor version of an oil painting. It’s ok, it’s identifiable, but it has lost its depth. Dolce Vita is truly a treasure, not at all dated (at least not to me!), perfect for all seasons, occasions, and times of the day, and such a beautiful feminine scent. I wore it out the other night and was asked a couple times what I was wearing! I just found a well-preserved older full bottle on eBay, and I’m overjoyed to have the OG back in my life! It is just as it was in 1995 when I first loved it. It brings back only sweet (Dolce!) memories of when me and my husband began dating. Of note: the bottle is exquisite! And so were Dior’s lipstick cases at the time- similar design as the neck of the perfume bottle.

I completely concur with the below rave review, this is a glorious fragrance, a warm sunny triumphant celebration in a bottle. La dolce vita indeed. I have a vintage mini, I have no idea where it came from, and I have only just managed to get the stopper out. Now it is out I fear this little beauty won't last long. The scent is seductively spicy floral and fruity all in equal measure. I wouldn't have been able to pick out all the fragrance notes listed when smelling it blind. To me I would say I can mostly smell cinnamon and lily. But I can definitely smell them all when I see them listed. Which is rare for a perfume. What a triumphant harmonious cacophony!

Oh wow, this is such a unique and beautiful perfume. I tested it at an airport, just like dozens of other perfumes, and this stood out. I was surprised about it. The whole note combination of this perfume is so unique that it simply stood out...in a good way. It really does smell more like a moment, like a lifestyle, like a setting. It has layers upon layers to be explored. I cannot even tell you which notes stood out for me the most as it was simply so well blended and there were so many notes, all playing so well with each other. It's a masterpiece of a perfume, took me completely by surprise. I think I need it.

Fruity with warm spices. The rose here seems more like tuberose. This is quite nice!

I have a vintage mini, not much left. Beautiful bottle! Smells amazing on the cap. It’s obviously Dior, something reminds me of Dior Homme Parfum despite them having nothing in common except for the brand. I’m guessing it’s just in the DNA. On the skin, the first impression is ”Indian food”, and that’s not in an appetising way. I love Indian food, but I don’t want to smell like it. It was a bit overpowering in its sweaty, curry-like way. The dry down is sweet, sultry and deep. Very soft, luxurious; elegant and beautiful. I want a full bottle, but not sure how it’s comparing to the vintage mini.

Upon first spray, the dominant note I smell is cumin (think bean chili). So it gives off a BO vibe that's similar to the BO/animalic note in Amouage's Guidance. Just like Guidance, this perfume smells like when older women need to send an outfit to the dry cleaners, but they think they can "freshen it up" with perfume instead. So you get a musty mix of BO and mature perfume. I ordered a decant because I read somewhere that it's similar to the discontinued Givenchy Organza Indecence, and it's NOT. Thank goodness I just bought a decant. Not a safe blind buy.

Radiating warmth, this is sun in a bottle. For me personally it's too fruity, too sweet, almost candy-like, but I still find it a lovely creation. It's a charming dance of fruit layered on a woody base, with a nostalgic glow. You can literally smell the 90s gradient in these kinds of fragrances. I can almost pinpoint where this one lands, and it’s right around the midpoint of the decade. 1994. It has the perfect soft-focus warmth, not yet as sharp as the later 90s, but not as soapy as the early ones either. It is dolce indeed.

This perfume will always have a special place in my heart. This is the fragrance that my late grandmother wore. As a child I remember the fragrance lingering softly in the air from the bottle, however at the time I didn't realize where the smell was coming from & became fascinated with the aroma. I just can't put into words how much this perfume means to me, I will never stop wearing it. It's part of who I am at this point. This perfume deserves more praise and recognition.

Oh my, how can I even begin to explain... My one and only true love. Magic in a bottle. This is what perfumery is all about - making us happy. Words cannot explain how much I love this creation. It is everything I hoped and dreamed for. This perfume was my first and true love and it will stay this way until the end of time. I only wish I could be able to go back to this exact moment I experienced it for the first time - it was my mothers hug, dressed in her finest coat, perfectly beautiful, gently pulling me in and covering me with warmth and love. Ever since that time I was sneaking into her perfume drawer to experience the magic. Every time I put it on the most amazing memories and vivid pictures come to my mind - beauty, music, gold, silk, long hair, driving in a car with windows rolled down, a fresh and warm summer evening or maybe even a crisp winter wonderland, covered with woollen coat, or just that perfect time when the temperature is just right and you're content, truly happy, and love is running through your veins and radiating through this scent off your body. This is everything. This is my signature scent, no doubt about it. I do believe that the 90s version was absolutely superb - I do have and treasure my bottle from 96 like gold. It does spray on quite strong, but the dry down is still the same beauty. Modern version lost it's heavy punch, but nevertheless, it is still the same, unique and unforgettable creation. I do repurchase it every now and then, whilst using my 96 bottle for special occasions. There are no replicas and I am sure about this. I have not tried Shiseido's creation, but Serge Lutens Feminite Du Bois is not it, whatsoever. It lacks softness and it is way harsher comparing to Dolce Vita, where Peach and Apricot turn the spices around + coconut sweetness, magnolia and citruses make this fragrance shine bright. Serge Lutens is way more woody and astringent, if I can put it this way - I could see where the familiar picture comes from, but the details that make this fragrance so special are not there. Truly, this masterpiece of fine perfumery is the exact scent that got me into this craft and made me crave for more, and I am forever grateful.

This is my mother's signature. I used to hate it because it was too strong for my nose, but now, it just reminds me of her in the best way. It's rather unique and strong, not something my skin chemistry agrees with, but it is really spellbinding on my mom. I like this better than Shalimar.

Peachy/apricoty, cinnamon & cardamom spicy, and pungent, Dolce Vita reminds me of Sophia Grojsman's creations, Vanderbilt and EL Spellbound from the 80's and 90's, along with Worth Courtesan. While it's beautiful and distinctive and a scent profile I enjoy smelling occasionally, I don't want to smell this way most of the time as it's a bit too sharp-fruity. I'm realizing that while I love some sharp florals, like orange blossom and carnations, I like my fruits and spices softer, even if still overpowering (like in Gucci Rush, Guerlain Mitsouko, or Kenzo Jungle l'Elephant).

Absolutely stunning.. Yes l hear the people saying it's not a patch on what it used to be, and I'm sure it was amazing in the 90s, but come on, its still pretty damn good. I find this scent just beautiful, a definite expensive designer smelling sparkling floral sweet magical scent that is so pretty and juicy and feminine its wonderful. My only criticism is they could dial up the cinnamon a bit, its warm and sweet and fruity it can be worn by all ages l think, its a definite feminine fragrance l would think a male wearing this would be a little surprising. I don't know why but this conjures up a mental image of black chiffon, silk, diamonds, red lipstick, and champagne. Glamour and date night are the words for this fragrance. She's a beautiful scent and this is going to be an instant re-stock for me as soon as its ran out. Love the bottle, love the colour, love love love. ❤️ It lasts about 5hrs on my skin so decent longevity too. l give this one a 9/10.
