Anyone know of a good dupe for this fragrance?

I had a stroke of luck and found this on one of my favourite fragrance websites and had to buy it! It has a white flowers, slightly sweet, slightly spicy opening, I can pick the honey suckle, I can detect the banana, maybe for a second. The opening is very punchy. It then settles in what I would describe as old fashioned soap. It does remind me of the smell of soap which my grandmother in Sicily would actually use, many years ago. Very unique, very elegant. The re edition is a much more toned down version of this. ✨️

I don’t find this to be dated at all, although I love a lot of scents from mid 90s on. However, I also find powdery fragrances to feel a little more vintage feeling. I think this is one of the only banana fragrances I have in my collection. It really comes through in this but then the aldehydes turn it more powdery and soapy. It warms up after a while and smells very elegant. Who would’ve thought! I don’t think it smells like Chance eau fraiche or The One. I can see very slight commonalities, but those are completely different scents in my opinion. I like both of them more than this. I am not a powdery fragrance lover and this definitely has a powdery feel. If you enjoy a powdery accord, you will probably love this. It’s a gorgeous scent, it’s just not my personal taste. I don’t get much of the mid notes, it goes from the top to the base pretty quickly on my skin. Heliotrope is a bit tricky for me, sometimes I like it and others I don’t jive with it. It comes through a lot on my skin on this , but does settle after 30 minutes or so. This has great sillage and longevity! It’s a really good fragrance, I can see why people would love this. It’s not my personal style but I can appreciate it’s beauty.

Opens with strong aldehyde and honey, the smell of polly pocket's rubber clothing, shoe polish and dries down to the smell of a grandma’s soap bar or the toilet in italian restaurants mixed with overripe bananas. Could remind of Chanel Chance Eau Fraîche, but old fashioned.

I don't know if this is just me, but although I love the actual smell (literally smells like honeysuckle) it just has no longevity on me at all. In fact it lasts longer as a room spray than as a perfume which surprises me since its an expensive designer fragrance. While it may just be my skin that it doesn't work for, my experiences with this fragrance would be that it is way overpriced for something this weak.

A lesson in nostalgia vs. reality. I bought this to capture the sophisticated aura my mother had when she wore it, but on my skin, it’s a difficult wear. The opening is very aldehyde-heavy and the banana note feels a bit sharp and screechy rather than creamy. While it's a beautiful scent to smell from afar, on me it feels dated—like I'm playing dress-up in someone else's life. It’s funny how a scent you once idolized can feel so foreign when it’s finally yours.

I've come to realize that D&G's The one (EDP) also smells like Sicily.

Анонім★★★★★

old-fashioned, smells too confusing, like trying to be too many things. disappointing. horrendous banana in the top note

Анонім★★★★★

I'm getting sweet powdery lemon air freshener, sweetened Pledge furniture polish maybe. Not loving it, but I wouldn't mind smelling it temporarily.

Smells like a freshly washed baby, and very subtly like banana bread (I think it's the banana and nutmeg). It's an interesting perfume--both unique and wearable. The aldehydes are pretty subtle, and so is the powderiness, so if you hate either of those, you may still like this perfume. It smells clean without a strong soap smell. The projection and longevity are pretty strong, but the scent itself is soft. It's office-appropriate without being boring. Ultimately, this perfume is not for me, but I see why people rave about it.

Анонім★★★★★

Very Beautiful and bright scent, it’s fresh, clean, floral with natural sweetness, I don’t detect banana per se, but it’s creaminess instead, the first 5 to10 min the soapy aldehydes were prominent ( even reminded me of Chanel Cométe because italso has baby powder like scent) but it toned down and left me with a very nice creamy floral, warm and comforting scent, exquisite

Simple soap!! Smells like you just jumped out of the shower clean and powdery 🥰

Legendary Sicily by D&G, is the modern Dove soap on steroids. It last for more than 3 days on your clothes and bed. I love it! This is not a gourmond and the banana is actually nutmeg mixed with citrus. It creates a similar subtly sweet, tangy smell. Cefiro by Floris is similar to Sicily, but a more light day time freshy. They are both also linear, and do not evolve much, from start to finish. It's great for night time, special occasions, and it's very strong. The price is worth it, because one 3.4oz bottle can last 10 yrs lol. I bought 10, so I've enough for all my life now. It's also a psychological nostalgic scent. If you wear it, anyone in your path will never forget you. Lol In my opinion it's very sexy and one of the greatest scents of all time. Dove, Nivea Creme, CkOne, Royal Violets, Caress, Coast, are all scents I keep trying to find in other perfumes. A soapy, creamy, comforting citrus with a touch of delicate flowers. Something very pleasant and clean. If you like Sicily, you may also like Rive Gauche by YSL. 🍋🍊🧼🌹🫧

Skanky white floral + aldehydes + citrus. Bunch of other flowers and musk blended in but barely intelligible behind suffocating white florals. No banana found. Seen this type of fragrance many times before, hated each one of them. Closest - Byredo Blanche

They don't make them like this anymore...

Sicily by Dolce & Gabbana was a blind buy fail for me. I love banana and soapy scents, so I had high hopes, but something about it just feels off. Instead of the fresh, clean vibe I expected, it has an oily quality—almost like greasy hair. It also feels a bit old-fashioned in a way that doesn’t work for me. Definitely not what I was looking for.

Opens with creamy sweetish florals and becomes a very elegant soapy floral. 7.5/10

Lotion, candied bananas, plastic doll heads, creamy jasmine musk

I'd hit a plateau on my perfume journey before I came across Sicily. The best Lorson's creation in my book. Sicily is multifaceted, well-blended, fine and sophisticated. The first time I sprtized it on my skin, I caught a whiff of something odd along with white florals but I didn't know and couldn't know for the life of me that the odd pleasant scent was that of an abstract ripe banana, what a creamy delight. The Citrusiness and aldehyidic facets have been incorporated so finely into the totality of the scent that you know they are there but they never clamor for your attention, they never jokey for taking center stage but they add freshness and an uplifting quality with grace. A babypowderiness is also at play here that renders the scent snuggly and also kindly and softly clean not squeaky clean, if you know what I mean. The longevity is praiseworthy and I can smell it on me after several hours of wearing it. Hats off Natalie Lorson and the warmest thanks

This smells exactly like Caress soap.

the idea to include ripe banana into a white floral is absolutely brilliant and I cannot believe there are still no decent dupes for this masterpiece. this is one of the most beautiful, original and delicious white florals one can imagine. The banana here is not literal like in L'artizans Bana Banana. It is more about a feeling that it adds to the composition - this ripe, bright yellow aromatic fruitiness, almost honey-sweet banana puree, balanced beautifully with delicate and elegant jasmine and orange blossom. I get lots and lots of aldehydes throughout the composition and a prominent creamy sandalwood in the base. it's also quiet powdery (like make-up powder, probably heliotropes). completely unexpected (im not a d&g fan) but absolutely delicious & bottle worthy *upd for a long time I wanted to compare my old euroitalia with the new velvet sicily version, currently available in stores. happy to conclude that there no need to overpay for the vintage bottles, they are practically identical.

I spent a few weeks at my parents' house over the summer with my own little family, and found a bottle of Sicily hidden in the dephts of my childhood room. I used to review perfumes back in the day on Makeupalley (wonder if anyone remembers that website), and had a vague memory of writing about Sicily there. Today I found it! It was written 15 years ago, and reads like this: "Me and my friends spend a week in France every winter, there are amazing ski resorts. This year we travelled in a bigger group and I met a boy... A few days later we were sitting in the snow on the mountain treated by the winter sun. "Being with you is like being on a summer vacation with hot sand, palm trees, coctails and the ocean." - he said. "Am I so relaxing?" - I asked. "No. You smell like that." - was the answer. Lol. He is a keeper, so is Sicily!" Well, turns out he wasn't a keeper, we broke up a few months after this review had been written, but Sicily is! I have been wearing the same bottle from 15 years ago since I found it, and it's still a stunner. It definitely evokes summer, a summer from decades ago, a movie star tanning on their private holiday resort. Sophia Loren in oversized white D&G sunglasses, the summer breeze playing with her perfect curls.

My highschool friend used to have this and we were very conscious at that time about NOT buying the same perfumes, as it was one’s signature scent. I only sometimes sprayed it on at her place and thought it was soooo good. Years later I sadly learned it was discontinued. I could get my hands on a 4ml original sample and it just arrived and I tried it immediately. It’s weird how scents can transport you back in time. Its exacly the same as I remember, very delicate yet interesting. Not like any other. It’s too bad perfumes like this (and many others!) are not sold anymore.

Who’s looking up Scily in 2024??? So Perfume Parlour do an inspired version of this and it’s pretty good but unfortunately at the moment it is sold out and unless they get a few requests for it they won’t restock it so please if you love Sicily get on line and click the email me when it’s back in stock option. I can truly say, hand on my heart I must of been asked nearly every time I wore it either what perfume was I wearing or guys would say how nice i smelt . Its a timeless fragrance smells good on all ages fresh, clean yet sexy and alluring.

This was one of the most beautiful perfumes to have been created in my top 10 for sure. It smells of romance, nostalgia, love and has a surprising depth despite its soft, aldehydic, banana-ish quality. I love this perfumer Nathalie lorson she has created quite a few masterpieces my nose jives with. She has a knack for creating perfumes that bring about strong emotions, romance and nostalgia. I recently smelled the re release and it is very low on sillage I had to get 20 sprays or so to find the original one spray, similar to many re releases, up the price tag and lower the sillage. The original was heavenly a strong 10/10, A Masterpiece.

Анонім★★★★★

Aldehydes and banana! Fresh and soapy, definitely retro. I did not wear this fragrance when it came out, so I don't associate the scent with a different time in my life, but I understand why it's a cult favorite. It doesn't quite smell like anything else, and clearly not like what's in fashion these days. That's what I like about it: fruity, but not sweet. Memorable.

Анонім★★★★★

I typically appreciate powdery scents, but this one is way too powdery for me. I think it's the "oriental vanilla" base the description mentions. Since I feel like Shalimar is similar and I have a similar slightly irksome experience. I do love the overall scent profile, though. I haven't found another creamy, non-sweet banana forward scent like this yet. I hope I can find something like Sicily minus the powdery-ness since it truly is lovely! :)

Анонім★★★★★

This was an amazing scent! It smelled like Caress soap, just in a perfume form. Soapy orange blossoms surrounded by musk, heliotrope and sandalwood.

Анонім★★★★★

I just saw that this has been re-released with some tweaks as part of their prive line. It’s rather expensive, but if you miss Sicily and don’t want a vintage bottle, that’s a way to get it.

Анонім★★★★★

This was one of my first perfumes, if not the first and I still remember the scent like it was yesterday. Clean and soapy but so feminine and sexy. While I loved the smell, I wouldn't often choose to wear it, maybe because I was not so much into the clean smells or because my then boyfriend gifted it to me after he had smelled it on a girl I hated. I remember I loved it but would then go and cheat on it with Oro from Roberto Cavalli, cause that was the kind of girl I was.
