Nice scent Somehow basic not something people would remember me with Sadly not long lasting Barely lasts like 1 hour or so
I have the rollerball version of this and love it. It's lasted ages and unfortunately is nearly at an end. Had it in s set with modern muse and prefer le rouge so much more. Warmer and richer and not as sharp as modern muse. I wear this year round, day or night but not sure how much the roller ball application affects how and when I'd wear it in terms of intensity etc.
I loved this as soon as I smelled it. This is a very beautifully done fragrance. When I wore it on my skin it absolutely bloomed. As someone who doesn't care much for fruit and vanilla in fragrances, I don't even notice them in this perfume. It compliments it very well. I will say, this does smell like someone's mom, not my mom, but somebody's. I also get escort vibes from this, it's kind of hooker-ish, but affluent hooker in what I think the 90s were like. She meets with executive types and accompanies them at fine dining establishments; And she keeps this perfume in her purse next to a dark red lipstick and a pack of cigarettes. So what I'm saying is, is that this perfume tells a story; And I love being a grown ass man wearing this affluent hooker fragrance. Oh also side note: This has a darker liquid in it that I would only assume stains, so don't spray this on your clothes.
I’ve been sleeping in this in my collection and now I’m obsessed!! This reminds me of a fragrance I’ve adored back in the day and couldn’t place. I thought it was Sophia , the original Sophia Lauren fragrance from the 80s or early 90s. But I recently purchased a vintage bottle and I’m not so sure. Regardless, I love this! It’s so sexy and sophisticated! A May Rose note always finds a place in my heart and I’m not typically even a rose lover! I’m so very happy I found this!
i hated it, then liked it years later. smells like my auntie, i guess the appreciation comes with age.
I guess I like a saffron, pepper opening and a vanilla dry down, but the sharp, floral, rose middle is not it for me. I had it and passed it on.
Modern Muse... but make it dangerous. This, to me, is the high-octane yearning of an outlaw ducking and weaving through a crowd at a nightclub, looking for her soulmate in the myriad faces of all around her, yet this scent remains refined, poised, alien. Maybe I'm overhyping an Estée Lauder scent, but this is what I wear when I'm going out and want to make an impression.
Modern Muse Le Rouge opens with a fruity, floral and kind of spicy kick. The red currant and raspberry are really juicy in the tops notes. The pink pepper and saffron are also present adding a nice spiced balance and yet they don’t overpower the fruity notes. The floral notes of rose, jasmine and magnolia are very well done in this fragrance. They’re not too light and not too strong. They’re balanced quite beautifully between the fruity top notes and the musky, sweet dry down of the base notes. Modern Muse Le Rouge is a very feminine, mature, and very well put together fragrance. It lasts a very long time on your skin and is gorgeous enough for any season.
A very pungent rosy smell when you apply, but it slowly dries down to a milder fruity fragrance. Good for summer wear in my opinion
Monsieur P and I recently dropped into one of our favorite antiques & non-needful stuff vendors to search for silk top hats and opera glasses when my eyes lit upon this little be-bowed beauty. I'm just tickled when I can find a diminutive version of a designer fragrance that I can wedge it into our tiny little apartment on Rue de Monkeywrench, just 10 short minutes from the Eiffel Towel ... I mean Tower. This mini bottle (the travel size) packs the typical husky Estee Lauder floral punch, like a vamp opening the door, walking up to you and proudly proclaiming, 'I'm here!! Now look at me!!' My nose immediately picked up the powdery rosy muskiness, which dries down fairly quickly into a warm simmer that lasts for hours, like a comforting bath on a cold, drizzly Parisian day. I'm savoring the vanilla, patchouli and ambrette notes while the scent still evokes a regal rose garden so reminiscent of the blooms in the Tuileries Garden. Estee Lauder can add this to her considerable stable of stately florals. Is this anything groundbreaking? Not necessarily, but still, I won't ignore the 50-pound rose in the room. She's lovely ... and she's a keeper!
I received my travel size bottle in a goodie bag from goodwill and can say its too mature for me; reminds me of old lady perfume. I smell the floral notes but not the fruit ones (bleh). It's a pretty scent but I don't see myself wearing it anytime soon.
Fruit punch with amber. Very fruity! It could be worn day or night.
Unfortunately I really didn't like this one. Imo this smells like candy wax & cherry chapstick backed by a cosmeticesque rose. Heavy & cloyingly sweet.
This perfume is if Sì was heavier on the rose and a bit more lively-fruity. Red fruits add that playful sexiness to every perfume, considering that Sì is more grounded and woody kind of sexy, you can imagine the effect of Modern Muse le Rouge. Patchouli is not earthy but adds sharpness, she's confident, loud. This is her if Sì partied more, the girl that notices you're shy and invites you to join. Discontinued fragrance, what a bummer, everyone asks me what I'm wearing when I bring her out every now and then. Modern Muse le Rouge was my first signature scent, she's potentially what started my perfume journey!
If you need a replacement for this discontinued fragrance, you may try Lancome Idole, especially the Intense one.
a little strong i don’t really like it if you want to feel roses it’s best choice
So sad that this perfume discontinued. This was my signature scent.
DNA of original is in the background, but initial spray it’s sweet fruit. It’s fruity floral. While it’s pretty, my preference is floral, so I like OG better. It’s still nice though, and I like it. Just not swoon love.
This is a really pretty, warm, mature and sexy scent. I have a small, probably 15ml bottle of this as a gift and I really like it. It's suitable for a lot of occasions but maybe not daily wear as it's fairly heavy and strong. It's well blended with the amber, floral and fruit notes and they balance each other out, instead of dominating each other. It reminds me of something I would wear to a quiet, hidden restaurant on a date in Paris.
This perfume is the epitome of all beautiful things don't last forever. Although sadly discontinued, the memory of it will stay with me; it is linked with a beautiful period in my life. The perfume itself is a romantic, promising invitation. It challenges you to give in to your desires, roses and saffron blend together to create a mystical environment but definitely a warm one. It is playful, because of raspberries, flirty yet well established. It will stay on the sheets the next day; musky, sinfully reminiscent.
It has a warm aura and balanced. Spicy and sweet. One of my top favorites.
3+ years looking for it and i finally got it. This is a “Strong, Independent Woman” perfume. I’m absolutely in love with the drydown: warm, fruity and sweet vanilla. Wish it had a better longevity.
This gem was special though being a flanker. It iş a pity that i missed the chance to buy one before it was discontinued. I normally do not enjoy rosey perfumes but this is far more complex and uplifting than being an ordinary rose water. It has rose but it is not rosey after all. It has this oldscool quality that i long for, not berry-ish like petit robe note rosey like Paris. You can identify the notes individually but can not describe the whole composition. It is the magician quality of the perfumer. No resemblence to original muse. If you find a bottle and enjoy oldshool chypres give it a try.
got me so many compliments but also gave me a headache and nausea! great floral scent, if you can handle its strength.
Pleasures by Estee Lauder. Only bottle is diffrent . Fragrance in 98% the same
This perfume got me more compliments than any other in my collection. I adore it- it feels so alluring and mysterious but also super classic. One of my all-time favs.
This reminded me instantly of an Oilily perfume I had in the nineties- a fruity floral originally launched in 1989. I don't think this perfume has any business being called 'Le Rouge' which makes it sound alluring or dangerous, like the vengeful ex showing up in a red dress on the wedding day. Le Rouge isn't a daring scent and neither would I consider this evening attire. It is however timeless, clean and warm. I quite like it. Just a little spritz goes a long way in making you smell like a nice person who takes showers regularly. It has a slight bite of synthetic sharpness to the edge that gives me the impression this could give some people a headache, but that's temporary. It's a well-rounded scent overall; a lovely composition. On me, it smells nice. Absolutely don't overspray this though. You could wear it to a family birthday in the early evening, at lunch with a female friend, to a picnic in the yard with children running around, that sort of thing. The odd thing is that I think it would both be suitable for young girls and sophisticated ladies in their fifties. I suppose that underscores my point that this is one of the most un-sexy scents I've smelled in a while. If you need a nice, unoffensive, warm, clean type of scent this one will do. If you like Le Rouge (or it didn't quite work with your skin chemistry), try Idôle from Lancôme. Idôle also opens with pink pepper, also has a heart of roses and jasmine, plus a similar base of vanilla, musk and patchouli, but it's a little cleaner and clearer even though it has much the same happy classy high-quality vibe. You get pear instead of raspberry, but I really enjoy a juicy pear. Idôle doesn't have that nineties edge people pick up in Le Rouge so it depends on you how modern you want your happy-warm-classy-clean-feminine scent to be. Both scents are incredibly well done, but if it were me, I'd get Idôle every time. I've also seen Modern Muse Le Rouge compared to Lola from Marc Jacobs and this was interesting to me because Lola used to be one of my favourites. I always thought it was a grunge type of scent and very un-ladylike, so this took some adjusting in my head. I've worn them simultaneously to compare and the rosy heart in Lola does indeed have a lot of similarities to Le Rouge, although overall Lola is a bit younger and edgier and the pear in Lola is unmistakable. However, there's also no escaping the slightly rubbery, vinyl, hairspray type of edge. It is different, in the end. Lola has a lot of enemies, isn't as inoffensive and uncomplicated as Le Rouge. I like that Lola is the more stand-offish younger cousin to dutiful bright hostess Le Rouge, but there's a time and a place. Maybe Le Rouge is a great option for former lovers of Lola, it's a little more mature. My husband likes Lola a lot, but he prefers Le Rouge, simply because it's the better scent and I have to agree.
Got a sampler bottle and I am absolutely in love. Beautiful packaging, beautiful modern rose scent, the musk fades wonderfully. This smells like a grandma de-aged into a 25 yr old in New York in a Macy's, holding a handbag. Big love.
This scent is just so luxurious to me. I think the deepness of the vetiver balances a lot of the more cloying top notes. I agree with other reviewers who say it reminds them of a department store. It smells a bit plasticky but in a nostalgic or hard-to-place way. Super sad it is discontinued. Edit: I received a bottle of this for Christmas! Definitely a dream fragrance to always have a few sprays of this so I will be using it sparingly. What strikes me most is the longevity and dry-down - it is a such a lovely modern fragrance. In the past I would have only denoted it as powdery, but now with more perfume experience I’m of course realizing it’s very fruity. It reminds me a bit of Mon Paris, maybe just because of the raspberry fruity/floral. There is also some DNA that reminds me of why I like Cloud so much, and that is just for a clean, musky scent reminiscent of the department store.
Le Rouge captivates the essence of this perfume. My daughter and I have not come to a conclusion whether this is floral or fruity. Although for this review I would call it a modern rosy floral perfume. I get roses at the first spritz and the dry down gives me vanilla and musk. Girls, hold on to the little you have left, because it's been discontinued.
