I wanted to like this so much. I love quality ouds, which this has. But there’s an annoying fresh green scent that’s getting in the way of the oud. Reminds me of Oud Maximus. This review only applies to me because I really hate the fresh green notes. It always brings me back to freshly cut grass, which I don’t think belongs in a fragrance.

My GOAT, along with POAL, just taking the cap off and sniffing the atomiser makes my brain go fuzzy, each spray is totally captivating. A total love for me

Анонім★★★★★

The greatest Oud fragrance on the planet. This stuff gives me goosebumps when I spray it, absolutely intoxicating. Heartbreakingly beautiful.

Анонім★★★★★

Greatest perfume of all time.

Анонім★★★★★

It's poopy, deep and not bad. Really artistic but not for me.

Анонім★★★★★

It obviously is a masterpiece, but it’d also overpriced. It’s also one of the only fragrances I own that I never known where or when to wear it. Maybe that’s just due to the obnoxious price point.

Layman here. Someone give this perfume an award! Genuinely impressed but will never wear it again. Best fecal perfume ever. My friend she didn't like the smell, but she then smelt it again and again 8 times while we were going down on escalator; must be adictive. After 3 hours i asked my straight friend to smell it on me, he said he reminded him of a women he hooked up years before. First 20 minutes is just feels offensive and very hard to like, to say the least. But after it calms down and smells good, but still fecal. Powerful stuff!

I love the intense, muddy scent at the opening; the harmony of oud, rose, and saffron is perfect. However, the scent softens considerably over time. The gourmet, sweet, and warm aroma of amber isn't very satisfying; the sandalwood and incense remain in the background. Still, it's my favorite use of oud. Do yourself a favor, stop smelling Western artificial oud and smell real Indian oud. SL Dead of Night is my second favorite

The Night is truly unforgettable. A bold, luxurious oud that feels both powerful and refined. It opens with intensity, then settles into a warm, magnetic aura that lasts for hours. If you want a fragrance that makes a statement without saying a word, this is it.

Анонім★★★★★

It's one of the few fragrances that get the definition of "oud" which is cool. The rose isn't overwhelming as you would expect in many oud-rose perfumes, so the main character here is gonna be the oud. But... is it worth this much of money? Honestly if I want to smell like real oud I would just get me some real oud it's not worth to pay this much and btw, I don't know how this was when it got released but from what I tested it's not that strong. It gets the characteristics of how a real oud supposed to smell but misses the intensity/depth . Kinda a cool thing if u want to smell like a good oud without choking yourself.

Leathery, a little smokey. Nice spiciness from the saffron. The barnyard funk actually remains for the entire duration, but it gets less intense in the dry down. What I'm getting is one of the best blended rose/ouds I've ever smelled. This makes Portrait Of A Lady look like child's play. Not easy to wear, to state the obvious. The Night is not unique but, it is made by a master perfumer using a large amount of raw materials. Yes, the retail price is bonkers but, what does that have to do with anything

This sour, sharp and extremely smoky smell made me so unbelievably nauseous that I had to excuse myself from the store and get immediate fresh air, otherwise I would have thrown up in the store. This truly was a traumatic experience for me and I never want to smell this ever again. Edit: So I went back and smelled it again, I became a bit more tolerant of this scent, to me it smells like a very smoky leathery scent which I am not a fan of, it’s not that bad, just not for me.

Dominique Ropion is always a safe bet. An exceptional fragrance with outstanding performance. Love.

Is it worth the asking price? Obviously, no (and I honestly think no perfume would be). Is it fabulous? Unfortunately, yes. The Night is raw and primordial, showcasing perfectly why oud is the ultimate aromamaterial. There's so much untamed depth to the oud they've used it works like a rabbit hole, sucking you in time and time again, always having a new secret to amaze you with. I kid you not, I feel connected to the world on a deeper level when I smell it, and I'm not a spiritual person in the least. The Night is more than a perfume. It's an experience and a meditative journey I am, quite surprisingly, often willing to take. Sadly, as with Seychelles, I have yet to be able to afford it haha.

I love oud fragrances and especially rose-oud's. I have never really smelled anything quite like this. Once I put my nose on it (I have a 2 ml sample, not a bottle), it didn't remind me of anything I have tried before. Granted, this is very expensive as well as hyped (rightly so?), and I am still a very novice nose. I may be falling victim to the hype. Maybe I wouldn't love it so much had I never seen any reviews, etc. But I do love this. I probably have never smelled anything with this quality of oud in it, which is a part of it. Very cheesy and fecal in the opening (which was amazing). Dries down well over a few hours to a very wearable fragrance (meaning you don't need to worry about the top oud notes offending anyone). I would certainly wear this to an office, out in the evening, etc. I applied it around 5 p.m., and when I woke up the next morning, I could still smell it on my arm. It is unisex to me, not leaning in either direction. If you love oud and rose, you owe it yourself to at least try a sample. You won't be disappointed. 10/10.

Indian Oud is my favorite note in all of perfumery, so this is an easy love. The classic rose/saffron/Oud triad at its finest. The saffron and Oud combine for a crisp sour accord that is reminiscent of the green apple note in Promise. Incredible silage and longevity. At the same time, The Night is unquestionably the most insanely overpriced fragrance I’ve sampled. Unless money is no object, you can get very close to this for a tiny fraction of the price.

The best oud rose in my opinion. I'm selling a 50ml bottle that I've bought in 2018 (before reformulation). The oud is stronger than the actual batch, almost full with box 420€ in Europe.

An easy way to replicate the opening of this fragrance. Simply drink a shit load of Woodpecker Cider, at least enough to make you vomit. Simply let the vomit ferment in a bucket overnight. And hey presto you’ll have pretty much the exact smell as The Night. And will save you nigh on a grand in the process.

Is it me ? or did they jack up the prices 🙄 ? I think 100ml was around 1200$ - 3 yrs ago, now its 1990$. WTH !!!

Анонім★★★★★

Blind bought a 50ml bottle, basing my review on one spray becuase that was enough for me. Barnyardy opening, very challenging. Turns into a pleasant smoky rose-oud after 30min.

Анонім★★★★★

if u know about french perfumery and ropions taste and arabic taste this is very easy to imagine so u dont need to order samples. is it worth its price tag in any material way? the answer is no. is money no object and ur a fan of this idea then sure. but if ur on a budget theres so many better options to reach 99% of the same deal

Анонім★★★★★

It smells like, rotten cheesy feet. The moldiest of moldy cheeses you can ever imagine. Kind of barnyard vibe going on. Like a dead moldy pig that died from eating rotting moldy cheese, with a faint sprinkling of hey and rose.

Анонім★★★★★

I f*cking love this stuff. Oud as it should be in a designer way If we compare tv shows with fragrances this would be Ozymamdias from Breaking Bad or Dexters first episode

Анонім★★★★★

Very oudy start for about 10 minutes Dry down almost 100% identical to POAL, but with worse performance imo. Very close to skin earthy and peppery dark rose. I like it but I think I prefer POAL (<2020 batch) because of the performance

Анонім★★★★★

Terrifying. I unsuspectingly entered the Portrait of a Lady whilst shopping in Paris, just to do some sampling and this was the first, and last fragrance in there that I tried. It smelled of wet wool with intense rose. I had to draw away and sneeze. After looking at the prices, I ran away still sneezing.

Анонім★★★★★

I think my skin chemistry must be wrong for this. For ten to twenty minutes, I get a rose scent. After that, it's almost gone. After only one hour, I can barely smell it all - let alone it being a room-filler. Seeing some of the reviews of this back in the day, I guess it must have been reformulated. Same with Dawn. I don't know what to think.

Анонім★★★★★

I just bought a decant of this, It smells like a cuba libre on skin, Im talking about the cocktail. Of course in a good way, I love it.

Анонім★★★★★

Starts with a blast of barnyard oud that lasts (for me) roughly 30--40 minutes. As it settles, it becomes one of the most elegant rose/oud fragrance I've ever come across. This is far less challenging than people make it out to be in my opinion, but I can see how the opening would put people off. As it settles it basically becomes smoky Portrait of a Lady, but the rose here is so full bodied and beautiful. In my opinion this is a top 5 rose/oud, but that price......... lol

I really like The Night and I've gone back and forth about having a bottle of it in my collection over the years. However two things stop me; Firstly the ridiculous price, it just isn't worth what they are asking (£750 for 50ml is a joke). Secondly, the Turkish rose in the mid is rather soft and I felt seeing that this is where the perfume spends most of it's time that it really needed to have more of a voice. The scent just doesn't project enough for my liking and for what you are paying that just isn't acceptable. This is a perfume i'll just have to accept i'll never obtain. I will enjoy using up my sample and just let this one go. Oh and once again Fragrantica has gotten the notes order wrong. This is the real one: Top Notes: Saffron Heart Notes: Turkish Rose, Frankincense Base Notes: Sandalwood, Oud
