I wanted this perfume so much for so many years, it just sounded so good. But when I finally got it I didn't like it at all. I was so disappointed... I wanted to like it but not 😑
such a lovely scent! I find that the top and middle notes of fruity, woodsy and floral blend to create a scent that is very romantic, and sensual, while not being too overpowering. the dry down brings out the notes of vanilla and musk, which give it a sweeter, wintery feel. this perfume is wonderfully romantic—would absolutely recommend to those looking for ‘date night’ scents!
This perfume is the best smells so good could wear it anywhere love the bottle💜
This is a generically nice woody perfume but it isn’t loud enough for me. I rattled through my mini bottle in a day and I still wouldn’t be able to pick it out of a line-up. Not one I would purchase.
I used to love this scent when it first game out in 2001 and I had loads of bottles. Unfortunately the new version seems to have changed and is not as deep and the sillage isn't as amazing. Kinda gutted as the campaign and bottle is stunning but the notes have definitely changed. I would definitely recommend smelling the new one and trying it on your skin before purchasing.
i think it’s too light for me, i like the lightness of the original ghost but this one is like you have to be practically eating your skin to smell it
Beautiful. I can’t smell any individual notes and it doesn’t last but it smells both dark and fresh. That’s probably the depth of the woods and the amber teamed with the fresher florals. I wish the scent was stronger and would last longer - it’d be a killer if it did.
I didn’t get the chance to smell it in its prime so Im unsure if I got the old or new formula. Code is J10531 and nothing pulled up in the batch code checker. This definitely reminds me of a fruitier jammier version of Burberry Women, one with a dark berry mixed in somewhere yet with a almost masculine opening. Like if there was a Burberry Women Noir. Honestly Im very pleased with it but I mostly wanted it for the bottle and I never got it as a teen due to the price back then so maybe I am biased. My father said it smelled better than the usual sweet vanilla stuff I wear lol. Happy to own it finally :)
i wore this all throughout my first year of university. it smells great but it brings back haunting memories of nights out at straight clubs in a baby tee with people i barely like and hookups with men i hate. hopefully one day i'll be able to wear this scent again without visions of a life i'd rather forget
The packaging has now changed, new style of crescent bottle, a tonal fade at each end plus Ghost in different font on the box. The smell is no better. The apricot fluffyness is long gone. It's been generic aftershave for years n still is. I wish they'd just kill it n discontinue, it's an absolute joke of a perfume compared to when it first came out 😭😭😭
I bought this because I fell for the recent Orb of Night marketing, and decided to revisit Deep Night while I was at it (got a gift set with a totally superfluous candle in it; I'm not mad about it). I really like this. Interestingly, I don't get fruity at all - I seemed to remember it being very berry-like, almost jammy, possibly the big goth sister to Midnight Fantasy - but I'm way off the mark. Either the formula or my skin chemistry has changed (I'd hope so; I last wore it in 2001). I get a big, masculine blast on first spray - almost deodorant-like. It doesn't really bloom much further than that for me, and stays within the realm of barbershop freshness. No bad thing at all, it's rather lovely, but doesn't line up with what others report. Performance is moderate, but for less than £20 a bottle, I don't mind. Will make a good errand day spritz for when I want to feel pepped-up and a bit 'together'. White t-shirt and a pair of jeans.
I bought the bottle because I am madly in love with the night. I expected it to be way deeper and darker. It has a similar scent profile to hugo boss bottled to me, fruity, everday scent, easy and a blind buy. It is not bad, it's just mass appealing to me and you can't go wrong with it.
smells like the night in the sense of deep purples, witchiness and seduction. dark feminine as too say. black haired she of the night running around in the woods cackling to herself. but with a touch of elegance. i would recommend
The aesthetic of the bottle is extremely pleasing, but this also smells divine. I think this scent is quite unique, it's fresh, fruity and clean but also quite mysterious and darkly romantic. The florals and amber elevate the scent. Works day or night in my opinion. It shares some similarities with Dior Addict.
A nice going-out smell for someone 20+ in my opinion. A safe blind buy in my opinion
a staple for my goth evenings out! its mysterious in its own unique way— it isnt dark, but fruity and gentle, delectable but not gourmand, all while enshrouding you in elegant mystery. love love love
I never got to know it when it was originally released. I did try it briefly but never full on test to formulate any opinion of it. Recently there was a mad special offer in the UK, like literally what do you have to lose type of offer so I ordered it. I understand why it has fans and I understand why it doesn’t , especially currently, I am led to believe it was reformulated so it’s not as good anymore. I would not suggest buying this for anyone, who didn’t expressly stated they wanted it, look at the ‘perfume remind me of’ section for some clues. My son says it smells like aftershave and it…does. There is a very distinct almost manly smell when 1st sprayed, it mellows a bit but never fully goes away, this could easily be a unisex frag but it does lean a tiny bit more feminine than masculine. The staying power could be better and so could be sillage, it’s not my favourite but I sometimes crave it. Like no other perfume I crave dousing myself in it and I enjoy it. It’s not overly sweet or floral, the woodsy undertones are always there. It’s an interesting one. Orb of the night is much safer option, it is truly female imo. This one – try before you buy. I am sure I could layer it with something but I like it as it is, I can overspray without any issues with headache.
A very enjoyable scent that reads more day than night on me. A vanilla-shampoo with bubble gummy feel and fruity notes of peach. A complex scent that with nighttime shares maybe bubble bath :)
I was gifted this for Christmas, my signature scent used to be Ghost by Ghost and not having yet smelled their other fragrances, my aunt thought this would be a nice gift. Let me preface by saying that my opinion on the 'sprayer' doesn't affect my overall review of this scent. For some reason, my bottle kind of shoots upwards when I attempt to spray some on and it gets on my fingers. I got the 100ml bottle so perhaps it's just too big and fiddles in my hand. On initial spray, the opening scent is like a male cologne, I get the woodsy notes right off the bat. Unfortunately, the woody notes overpower any of the vanilla/amber/musk/rose notes that are supposed to be in this. Upon dry down, it smells like Lynx Africa, like a swaddle of teen boys are jeering as you walk past them. It's not a putrid smell by any means but it is very masculine. I wouldn't purchase this myself and I most definitely will not be picking up another bottle, Ghost is an affordable brand but you can smell the reasoning in this one. A very flat, one-dimensional fragrance that's more for a teen boy trying to flatter his crush than a perfume for a independent woman.
Maybe I’m going crazy, but this just smells like cheap perfume—something I don’t usually expect at this price point. I can’t pick up on any of the notes, and I’m so glad I tested it before blind-buying. It’s the most “nothing” perfume I’ve come across in a long time, I have felt the same smelling Vera Wang’s Princess.
i had this as a christmas present yearsss ago it was a 50ml bottle with a tiny dabber bottle which i still have and carry everywhere with me, its such a grown up fragrance yet has that playful hint to it, i always felt so grown up wearing it a few years ago hahah, very strong and would last around 4 hours possibly more, always looking to buy another bottle if i get the chance!
I've been purchasing Deep Night for so long now because the overall vibe of the fragrance suited my Gothic attire. However, the last time it got reformulated was in 2021 where production moved from Paris to the UK and it hasn't smelt as "deep / dark" as it used to. For me, this was the closest I could get to a gothic perfume that didn't require me to take a chance on spending an arm and a leg on an indie product that will likely stop production a few years after its release. But post reformulation it got more sweeter, more feminine, the first stage of the dry down started smelling more weird, and the initial spray changed like night and day. I miss how unisex it used to smell. For instance, something small i noticed is that the peach was barely detectable, which i preferred since it's not an ingredient i like, however, now it's coming through more which is probably what contributes to that more sweeter scent. Previously, I would say the initial spray hits you with a full sense of that woody and fresh dark fruit (even if it didn't contain any) where one wasn't more prominent than the other; it was a balanced blend which made the fragrance come across powerful and strong which I prefer. Now, I would say it smells primarily fresh with a hint of that peach smell which reminds me of W5 glasses wipes / disinfecting paper wipes. This initial scent doesn't matter to me as it is not the main scent we will smell the majority of the time but this change did make it feel like the quality of the product dropped. As the scent dries down, the previous formulation would get darker and richer which is where the title of the fragrance really came in — sensual night time scent. Any amount of sweetness that did come through gave a more natural result because it smelt as if the sweet element was a result of ingredients truly blending. Now the sweetness comes in like a switch as if it's done to forcibly achieve the final desired scent asap, rather than it developing throughout all stages of the fragrance existing. Thus it inevitably comes across plastic-y as if it's being used to cover up the lack other other ingredients being used or properly infused. Since I don't like sweetness, the presence of it in this perfume is almost syrupy which gives off that artifical scent and becomes too pungent if I don't pair it with a fragrance that can counteract that. Objectively the sweetness is not as intense as other genuinely sweet perfumes yet it's still too much for my nose. So if you are used to sensual scents that primarily land sweet like Scandal, Olympea, Good Girl etc. then this may actually be ideal. If I put my head in the mind of someone who likes young, sweet, feminine fragrances who wants to find an affordable dark/date night perfume then this may actually do the job. This is not a bad scent by any mainstream standard but it overall feels more cheap to me now. To me, I wouldn't say there is a fruity blend to this anymore. If you are one who is looking for a deep, dark scent then this is not an immediate go to. It may still be "deep" in terms of sensual to some, but this is no longer "dark" and "mysterious" like it used to be. This is not unisex at all for those who prefer unisex products but this possibly teeters on unisex for those who prefer feminine products. While feminine fragrance lovers may dislike this for being too masculine, my unisex palette would say this is too feminine. Since I can't find anything like how it used to smell I will typically pair it with Superdrug's Blossom Body Mist (inspired by Mugler's Alien) in order to "unfeminise" it and add back in ingredients that smell like they don't even exist in the production of this perfume. Or Givenchy's L'Interdit Absolu to deliver that punch I like. I still remain disappointed in the change. You can even go to sites like Parfumo where you see reviews from 2013 detailing the slight unisex appeal then 2023 reviews expressing their disappointment. It wasn't all that unisex before but it is even less so now. I just personally feel sad about the trajectory of my favourite scent. Nevertheless, I can't find an affordable fragrance like it and ultimately I've been able to make it work. I wouldn't wear it if I disliked it. It really is still a unique and beautiful scent to me seeing as a semblance of the old formula is still there. Once the fragrance properly dries down I am somewhat left with that dark vibe I'm used to. I no longer wear this on my skin as it does not mesh well with my skin chemistry any more so I find it better left sprayed on clothes. Especially since the longevity of the fragrance is not as much as it used be (when applied on the skin) since the perfume is not as strong as before. At the end of the day, this remains my signature scent for a reason. Of all the affordable products on the market this current formula still intends to create a deep scent. To me, this fragrance smells best when I smell it on my jacket the next day after I've worn it. It's easy to become nose blind to this so be careful when applying it on your attire. And when I do smell this the next day I'm reminded once again why I had loved this perfume: I don't reach for my handbag for a long time and when I finally go to pick it up there is that standout scent I prefer to go back to. Someone has in fact told me my fragrance gave a strong impression which is what I go for — clarifying that it wasn't overpowering or cloying. So I think if you want to try something different and see if this can work for you, 100% get a sample / small bottle first. I'm also the kind of person who enjoyed the pre-reformulated version of Alien by Thierry Mulger, eventhough current shoppers tend to enjoy the less intense formula of L'oreal's modern reformulation. So you can get an idea of what type of individual this fragrance particularly appeals to.
Is it weird that I want to buy this just for the bottle? I'll use it but I'll keep the bottle forever.
one of my current favs but it just doesn't LAST :( so so gorgeous for a night out though
the fragrance is beautiful, unique, delicate and very sexy. I could bathe in it. I love it‼️‼️ Unfortunately, it disappears from my skin too quickly, I literally stop feeling it after a few moments.
Michel Almairac created this fragrance along with Burberry Classic for women, to which Ghost Deep Night is related.
I absolutely love this fragrance it’s stunning and cozy and soft but sensual at the same time and long lasting I have used it since it came out and will continue to buy
Smells absolutely gorgeous but it always reminds me of heartbreak lol. I've only ever purchased it for a valentine's gift back in 2008, but it continues to be a very attractive scent and I'm never surprised when I see it in a woman's bathroom.
I adore this, and I don't know why. There's a note in this that feels aquatic to me, which is very unusual, because this is definitely a dark, sultry, night time type of scent, but does not feel like a party kind of scent to me, more like a late night rendezvous under the stars kind of evening scent, a nighttime adventure type of scent. I have never smelled anything like it. Of sweetness it has only a hint, little enough to make it easily unisex. It reminds me of a dark autumn evening, wind howling and rain lashing down on you in a way that is energising. Deep Night also has a cold edge to it, I feel, and yet it is soft, and unmistakably feminine once it dries down. I agree with reviewers saying there is an element of masculinity to it, but despite that, I really like it. I don't wear it often, but when I'm in the mood for it, nothing else will do. It's such an intriguing scent - Ghost have captured the depth of night in a bottle, and added an aura of excitement, an edge. This smells like a night charged with anticipation - a night on which anything could happen. It lasts well on clothing, not as well on skin. There is an odd, subtle note that is almost off-putting to me - I think it's the peach. If it weren't for that note, I would wear this a lot more often. But I love the overall vibe enough that I can look past that one note.
When I first put this on it was a little screechy on my skin, with the white floral being a little loud, but in the dry-down I really start to get the vanilla and musk. It smells delicious in a non-gourmand way, comforting, and close to my skin. I will absolutely wear this again, definitely either going out or staying in at night. This is good news, because I bought 2.5 oz.
