I was apprehensive about trying this one because I thought it would smell waxy like lip smackers and maybe in a nauseating way. On my skin I mostly just get the iris and sandalwood and it smells woody and musky in a “perfume” way which makes me feel right down the middle on it. Pleasant enough, and would sample again but not putting on my personal wishlist. I do see how this could have a classroom/back to school vibe, which I like.
Apparently the ambroxan can make wearers nose blind to Reve because to me, it's not very strong and it dissipates quickly. However, the people around me have been complaining that it's overwhelming and the strongest scent I've ever worn (which is saying something because I wear Mugler's Angel in the winter)! I have also gotten the criticism from those same people that it smells like overpowering, stale perfume left behind in an elevator. But for me, it smells subtle and mild. So FYI spray carefully, and be mindful of those around you. As for the scent, the plum comes off almost like a cherry scent. I predominantly smell the plum with the buttercream being very faint. The rest of the notes elevate Reve and make it smell more like a real perfume than a fruity body spray. I like Reve, but I think it's a little too plum/cherry forward and it lacks some of the nuanced complexity that I would expect from a Glossier You flanker. I definitely don't think this is unisex, and it leans heavily feminine. That said, I think this will layer nicely with the perfumes you have. I've layered Tom Ford's Lost Cherry with Baccarat Rouge 540, and I think I'll use Reve in a similar way for layering as I do my cherry scents. Overall, I'm happy I got this used on the secondary market. Since it's not super popular, you can get great prices.
So sad I ran out of this one, it became a daily wearer. Its like chewing on a pollypocket shoe. Very Barbie. Very Lip Smakers. Very much how I felt being a kid and wanting to eat lipstick... bc it smelled so good. Adore this scent. I need to rebuy, asap.
I like this better than the OG Glossier You (which is practically a skin scent) and this does have a sweeter profile - however, it's not a gourmand at all and I wouldn't even call it actually sweet. The buttercream note is barely there, plum is the most noticeable and it shares a resemblance with Kayali's cherry but with an underlying heart note that resembles all the other Glossier fragrances. Sillage is really intimate as well and projection is non-existent, which means that at this pricepoint I wouldn't consider it a worthwhile investment.
honestly surprised to say that i don't love this! compared to some of glossier's other scents it just does not last as well on me nor does it really stand out...definitely a nice sweetness and the signature musky base of glossier perfumes; makes me feel like i'm licking the last few crumbs of a yummy vanilla cake with some sort of jam filling off a beautiful china plate & then sipping a little wine maybe...but it is simply not strong or unique enough to keep my attention
This smells like indian incense and kids makeup somehow in a not totally unpleasant way
I wish this scent is executed better! It's a very promising concept but i'm ultimately disappointed. The plum notes feel very synthetic and it's not a good blend with the ambroxan because the whole musk combination makes it feel very medicinal. The creamy notes saves it a bit but ultimately it did not impress me
smelt this in store, as glossier perfumes go this is lasts pretty the same as all the other ones (it doesn't last) and i got really confused by this. its supposed to be their "gourmand" but the choice of plum and almond makes it smells like a literally cherry cough syrup with a tiny hint of the glossier dna. my least favourite out of the bunch and also as may people say this is also too synthetic. if youre looking for something a little sweet just go for the og
Very much “grandma’s purse,” and unfortunately not in a charming, nostalgic way. Out of the entire Glossier You lineup, it's my least favourite. Instead of the fresh, skin-like quality I associate with the original Glossier You, there’s something that feels dated and slightly off-putting to my nose. There’s a softness to it, but for me it leans too heavily into powdery florals and makeup-like notes, losing the effortless coolness that made the original You so addictive.
interesting, would wear again
I went to the store to smell and buy the original You, but upon smelling it I really didn’t like it on my skin, so I tried this one, and really loved it! Smells a bit like expensive lipstick and I’m here for that
This is the weakest You flanker, imo. Definitely not a bad perfume, but not a stunner like the others. It's like a less offensive Versace Crystal Noir. Very peppery - too peppery - imo. I'm not getting much else besides maybe the sandalwood.
its smells like a hint of buttercream and really sharp synthetic plum...not the biggest fan. used to talk to someone who wore this and it smelled good on them but bad on me
so close to liking it except it's got a synthetic bite
Theres something fuzzy about this fragrance. Ambery musky plum buttercream sweet but clean in a velvet, suede sort of way. Its not as strong as i would like tho. If anyone is looking for an inspiration sand and fog has a perfume oil called "Soft Skin" its a 1 to 1 du pe of you reve but stronger.
Purchased this a few weeks ago, thought it would smell like soft skin musk and buttercream. But after wearing this for a few days, it just smells floral and feels overwhelming on the nose. Did not like
Im sorry but I get woody tires🛞:’)
Serendipity. I bought a fragrance on a well known shopping site. The seller described is as Glossier You which I already love and I was hoping to pick up a great bargain. This arrived and I'm very glad it did. Not gourmand, sickly teenage sweet or overpowering. Just a perfect balance of scent and self. Longevity is very good, sillage is what ought to be expected from the brand but with quite a bit more.
dark, sweet, nutty plum. i get the glossier you DNA with the ambroxan and ambrette the same as the one im most familiar with, glossier you fleur. was a bit too intense and gourmand for me, although its a good change of pace for me because i normally like fresh scents.
I get the buttercream only in the opening. Initially I thought it would be a savory-sweet gourmand, with the opening buttery note and hint of sweetness. But the note does not last. In the dry-down I get mostly the ambroxan, and plum. Not their best fragrance imo. Would not wear this but will keep in my collection for reference.
I love this perfume so much. I started me down my gourmand journey. Previously, I only wore very light floral woodsy scents. It is so perfect. My only compliant is that it does not last at all. Maybe 2 hours max. It is so sad. The lack of longevity is a problem with all of the glossier scents. I have purchased the 8ml and the 50ml twice despite this. It used to be my signature scent; I just cannot justify buying the full bottle anymore. I definitely will keep it my collection and potentially purchase the travel size when I run out. I just have run through it so quickly.
i love cherry almond soap and lipstick purse so i love this. sue me
Call me crazy, but I sprayed this and was immediately transported back to being a tween irl and spraying myself with Juice Bar Cotton Candy body spray. This definitely has more layers and sophistication to it, but those first few minutes are so nostalgic, I might have to buy it just for the memories.
I actually like the scent. Sampled in the Glossier store and yuuup, it's a plummy lipsmacker type scent, maybe plum cream flavored. It's a bit waxy, but not as waxy as a straight-up lipsmacker stick right in front of your nose, it's more like you rubbed it on and into your skin, that's what you're smelling when you sniff yourself. Also it's reeeeeal faint (pretty standard for Glossier, I guess).
The haters will say this smells like playdoh. And yes, that may be true, but it is the most delicious playdoh I've ever smelled. Of all the perfumes I've tried, I always return to this one. She's my very favourite. Reve is sweet, a bit powdery, gourmand, and so intimate. When I wear Reve, I feel like the scent is coming from my own skin. Its so warm and it makes me feel beautiful and yummy like a dessert. The downside is that it is fairly weak. It dries down to a very light, almost imperceptible plum vanilla scent. This is a perfume that requires re-application if you intend to be able to smell it for more than 6 hours. Also, if you're a fan of sillage, turn back now - you will not find what you're looking for here. I truly truly truly love this perfume more than I can articulate. I find it intoxicating and delicious. In my heart, this perfume is perfect. I feel like myself when I wear it.
I kinda love it! Wasn't expecting it to smell so nostalgic but it smeels like summers as a kid and i LOVE the plum note. YUMMY
honestly, i did not like this the first few times i sprayed it. however, i recently retried it and it smells just like the fruit scented rubbers you would use (aka keep pristine to sniff) in primary school - in a way that really appeals to me. yes, slightly plasticky but sweet and with a gorgeous, deep, plum musk. it's almost definitely the most divisive of the 'you' flankers though.
i love wearing this one when i go out on a cold day, the plum and iris pair so well together and the dry down is very warm and addictive like the og glossier you. i guess i can understand why a lot of people dislike reve, it does kinda smell like chapstick but i'm weird and i love the waxy quality it has.
buttercream where?? this is an extremely linear plum scent. maybe the faintest hint of almonds if i sniff hard enough, but nothing else. on top of that, the performance is poor and it only lasts a couple of hours. sadly this is easily the worst from the 'you' line. overall rating: 🩷🩷🖤🖤🖤 2/5
Fresh, creamy and powdery with a little sweetness. Very pleasant but nothing incredible - entirely inoffensive. Not sure if I would wear this regularly myself but wouldn't mind it on somebody else! EDIT: I changed my mind about this one. As time went by the musk scent dominated and my GOD was it overwhelming. My bathroom stunk of it and it seemed to keep getting worse to the point of making me nauseous. DEFINITELY not inoffensive in the end!
