There is a large amount of honeysuckle growing on a bush outside a house I pass almost daily. It's one of my 3 favorite scents, so I breathe it in every time. The smell changes after heavy rain and on very hot days. Anyway, I feel confident that this an authentic perfume match after comparing it to the real thing. It is slightly less honey-sweet but honeysuckle itself is less sweet and more sharp (metallic, aldehydic?) on a hot day. It's not annoyingly sharp, just a normal hint. I have a dabber sample, not a spray. It smells wonderful, not headache inducing or overly soapy. It isn't strong, but I like when I can switch up perfumes in a day to fit my after work mood. I like this one. I may buy it if the price is right or there's a sale. Also, I loved L'Erbolario's Caprifoglio and Acacia soaps. I wish I could still buy them.
I love all florals but on me honeysuckle tends to go syrupy, while neroli and other white flowers can seem slightly off, or sour — but here, all the airy freshness of newly blossoming flowers, petals, leaves and all, harmonizes with that lemony note to create a truly bright and beautiful blend. I have a sample with the new packaging shown on the card and the big, dainty OG Goutal bottle. We’ll see which lasts longer! I’ve found what’s in the less aesthetically appealing newer bottles just doesn’t have the same longevity (2-4 hours), but based on my years with Petite Cherie performing well for me (original bottles, 10+ hours) I have very high hopes for this beauty! Update: sadly even here only ca. 2 hours but if I pair with a more tenacious honeysuckle I don’t notice as much. So pretty!
This is just such a likable scent, it evokes images of idyllic nature and peaceful sunny days. I've never smelled honeysuckle so I don't know if it is accurate to the flower but I imagine fresh white little flowers and crisp grass in sunshine. It's a realistic floral and slightly green but there's just something innocent and almost childlike about this. Longevity is not great for me, it becomes a skin scent rather quickly but it lasts on clothes.
Such a vibrant, juicy, fresh, photorealistic honeysuckle that never gets stale between the notes. So lovely, even on the hottest days. I’m smelling it during the winter, yearning for a flowered breeze on a summer day. The only negative is the atomizer… it somehow always gets in my mouth, and I have to spray extremely close to my skin!
EDT: Honeysuckle. Very pretty but the honeysuckle wears off very quickly and leaves you with a neroli skin scent. Strong and yet, wears light. Seems quite chemical-ly. I love the scent idea of this and the scent is lovely, but smells so plastic as well. Unlike the plastic smell in Gucci Rush - where it works with the rich bombshell flowers to cut through them just when they get too much, because this is already light, the plastic just makes it sharper, shrill and ultimately a disappointment. Perhaps the parfum or edp would be better.
This one must be my immature nose, since most people don't seem to have this problem at all, but I found this really cloying! I think I'm just not into white florals. I will confess I thought "chèvrefeuille" was French for chervil, not honeysuckle, so maybe I was just expecting something a lot more herbal when I sprayed my tester...
At first I thought I loved this floral nectar, fresh, green woodland nymph fragrance. She was all beauty and fluttering butterflies dancing across leafy vines of honeysuckle while lemon’s were squeezed out in the background. Then I sprayed more of it and: pee. On me this Jasmine is too strong and creating that urine thing it can do sometimes. Darn it I loved you what happened?
From its vial is an airy green honeysuckle that becomes even lovlier and fresher once applied. It's the scent of a spring breeze. Delicate, vital, the lightest of lemon providing some defining edges in a lighter than air composition. The citrus of the lemon here tempered by petitgrain’s greener facets. This scent is spring itself with a focus on honeysuckle backed by narcissus. Unfortunately, it is shortlived, it opening lovliness softening considerably at 10m. At 25m it is nearly gone, barely a skinscent. Oddly enough, 10h 30m later that slight honeyed skinscent remains. 8.5/10 for scent. 7.0/10 for longevity.
I have both loved and struggled with Goutal scents. Both a friend and my sister wore Petite Cherie as their signature for years. On both of them it smelled divine. On me it smelled awful. I also struggle with sharper citrus on my skin - I'm one of those people who can wear Amarige and it becomes less intense. But Eau D'Hadrien smells like toilet cleaner on me. I've recently tried several Goutal scents to see if I could find one that I liked that didn't hate my skin. Le Chevrefeullie is IT. The initial scent is more sweet and than I want but it dries down to something light and citrus but not sharp and just... so lovely and just how I want to smell. BUT. The scent disappears so fast. I feel like I need to reapply it several times in a day and that's making me so sad. I really want a bottle and am just not sure it's worth it.
I’m not that big of a fan of florals but this is so beautiful. It’s like a memory. Being a child running around the park crazy and rolling around carefree leaving an aroma of grass and flowers on your clothing. Uplifting and for days when i need comfort.
I seconded Monochromatism's review, I am getting very strong wet cigarette notes on my skin from Le Chevrefeuille. I also get green notes, but the very pungent, harsh type. Le Chevrefeuille really stands out from the rest of perfumes I've tried from the house of Annick Goutal and unfortunately not in a good way.
This is sooo gorgeous and spring! I smell the lemon and honeysuckle. It's just a bit too faint. I would wear this in spring with a pretty dress if I wanted to wear something light and fresh and non offensive.♡ lovely.
This is a beautiful citrus floral perfume. It opens with a blast of lemon and the dry down is one of the most gorgeous ones I have ever smelt, with the florals coming out in full force over time. I am so in love with it, but also quite disappointed that it’s so weak. It doesn’t last more than an hour tops and I doubt if anyone around me can even smell it, which is SO sad because it’s such a great blend of fragrance.
I'm getting wet cigarettes in the heart somehow. This was from a carded sample.
This is a beautiful and photorealistic floral. (There's a 'but'). For me, the scent came in two distinct parts. The first part was a bit sweet, floral and pretty. Gorgeous. The second part of the scent was fresh and spring-like but for some reason reminded me powerfully of caterpillars. Um, I'm pretty sure there are no caterpillars in this. And also I *like* caterpillars, but that smell, whatever it is, bothered me. A few days later I tried my sample again because I thought maybe I was just being picky. Same experience. Gorgeous top notes, lovely honeysuckle scent... and then, something that I found too off-putting to leave on. But maybe it's just me. I'd love to know what's included in those green notes, though. I generally love freshies... (Thanks to VioletRabbit! It must be the indole that I was smelling!)
So lovely, honeysuckle lemon green combination - such a shame the longevity is poor, difficult to detect it after four hours at all. But absolutely delightful spring summer gentle sunshine in a bottle while it lasts.
I can’t detect the Lemon/Petitgrain notes at all, on me the scent is overwhelmingly floral
Nice bouquet of spring flowers, I can feel lots of lily-of-the-valley notes or something very similar: green, fresh and slightly soapy. It’s very powerful for a floral scent.
I'm not normally a fan of white floral blends. Here's an exception. Awesome blend that resonates with a crisp, mild lemon accent. Loses its verve with time but, man, what an awesome opening. Gets overtly "mature" as it wears. Would be a 5 star frag if the opening persisted. 4 stars overall. Good stuff.
A pretty light lemon spring green floral. It smells like honeysuckle and daffodils after the lemon and green top notes wear off. Spring happiness in a bottle.
Very lovely. Super summery! I am usually a white floral only girl, and I smell more citrus to this but still looove it!
This smells like, when you cut flowers in your garden and stick your nose in the cut stems and inhale.
Green, crisp and fresh perfume, perfect for spring. Realistic, very good quality of ingredients. A charming green French garden in a bottle... Unisex to my opinion
This perfume may very well haunt me forever. I first got a sample at Sephora back in my freshman year of college in fall 2008. I was obsessed with it and couldn’t stop sniffing my wrist. I even made some bad choices at an attempt to acquire a bottle as a broke 18 year old. I know that scents evoke memories, and that year of my life was especially difficult and traumatic. Still, I would like to own a bottle, for a little sniff of warm sunshine. It feels like golden nectar spilling down your throat when you inhale it. I don’t know how to describe it without it sounding borderline pornographic, but it’s a scent that sticks with you. Should I bite the bullet and try to overcome the association my brain has with this scent? Or leave it in the past?
A fence in my backyard is covered in honeysuckle, and when it's in bloom, the air is absolutely enchanting. This is a scent I grew up, and I love maintaining it as I grow older. I first bought La Chevrefeuille for my mother back in 2003 after stopping by a Goutal shop on my first trip to Paris. I had no idea what I was doing buying a perfume for another person, but this lovely white floral that is so true to it's name that it felt like a safe purchase to gift. Sure enough, my mother loved it. Despite the fact that light, sweet and citrusy white florals aren't really my favorites, I loved it too and would steal a spray every time I visited her. I was bummed the day I saw that the bottle was mostly empty and could no longer have my fix. Twenty years later, I revisited the same Goutal shop and bought this again for my mother. It is a timeless, vintage-style fragrance, and still something that I would never buy for myself, but makes for a great gift for someone who will allow me to visit it's lovely honeysuckle notes on occasion.
One of the most pleasant, elegantly understated, wearable citrus - specifically, lemon - I've found. It's almost like there's some element of tea in Le Chevrefeuille. Really, really lovely. I wonder if it's an ode to goats.
in the beginning i get intense lemon and green notes. it's very refreshing, green and a bit herbal, almost like tea leaves. the florals come through later but they are subtle and leaning green, not sweet at all. really pretty for warm days.
This is lovely. I am not a fan of petitgrain but I don't get any bitterness here. It is floral and fresh and light and very much reminds me of the Hermes Jardin line. But yes, it becomes a skin scent quickly and no, it doesn't last. It still might be FBW for me.
This is one of my all-time favorites. I know there’s a lot of talk about whether this is realistic honeysuckle or not but I never smelled anything like this before (and I never smelled honeysuckle before). To be honest, it smells so good that I almost kind of feel like drinking it… it comes off as a “brighter” version of l’Ile au thé to me, like iced tea that’s slowly melting in the summer, where you’re borderline stuffy from the humidity but relaxing on the grassy lawn under a shade.
I'm already a Goutal fan so it's no surprise that I love Le Chevrefeuille. I'm a serious gardener and live in a sunny climate with a very active honeysuckle plant sprawling up a trellis and wall. In the spring, when it's first blooming, the scent is intoxicating. Le Chevrefuille is a photorealistic honeysuckle scent. It's and EDT and a botanical so it's never going to have great sillage or lasting power. The other honeysuckle I like is Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle. It's good too, but the Goutal smells more natural.
