I love it bring it back, some of us still want to smell like envy, some of us love envy. But you wont you will continue down your boring dupey light as a fart in the wind foolishness. I dont own a bottle anymore sadly cant afford the reseller stupidity. But from when it came out i purchased maybe 3-5 bottles a year untill it was discontinued. I worked in a Afro Caribbean barbarshop back then and something about envy worked so well with a fresh hair cut ready to go out for a rave or a date. Im a women a enjoy this type of fragrance on myself, doubt i could get away with wearing it myself now, in my corporate job. But definitely my husband could still pull it off on the right occassion & after a good pamper & shave.

I cant decide how I feel about this frag, its really really good, but I almost feel like its hard to pull of for me personally. But I think other people could wear it easily? Its definitely a great frag and wonderfully blended and is super unique, I just cant see myself wearing it. I am open to trading for said reasons.

There are a lot of notes going on here and but at the end of the day it smells like chai tea to me. It's a nice scent but I definitely don't think it's worth the price of how much they are going for unless it has some nostalgic meaning to you. 8/10.

Got this for the first time after wanting to try it for so long. To get straight to the point it’s just not that mythical-smelling like most reviews here would make you believe. What I get is simply a mix of Chanel Coromandel / Tom Ford Fougere d’Argent, while lacking the depth of both. It smells great though.

i have a 100ml bottle im willing to part with! it's 75% full and has been stored in temp controlled storage, scent is stable, which honestly, is remarkable for an EDT that vintage.

Can anyone advice me please something that is very similar to it ? Be cause it not release anymore...

Today’s review turns toward Envy for Men by Gucci, a fragrance that has achieved near-legendary status within the fragrance community. Long regarded as a timeless masterpiece, it represents an era when mainstream releases were willing to be daring, complex, and unapologetically bold. Years after its discontinuation, Envy has only grown in stature, with demand far outpacing supply and prices reflecting its cult reputation. What once sat quietly on department store shelves is now treated as a benchmark for masculine perfumery, often cited as something that simply isn’t made anymore. Let’s give in to temptation and see what this green-eyed legend still has to say once worn. Opening: The opening is aromatic, woody, and warm. The most prominent notes are lavender, sandalwood, incense, and tobacco, with lavender and sandalwood leading the charge. Lavender greets the nose first with an unmistakably classic barbershop character. It’s clean, assertive, and confidently old-school, very much in line with the masculine standards of its era, and immediately calls to mind fragrances like Drakkar Noir or more modern interpretations such as Masculin Pluriel. Sandalwood works closely alongside it, adding a soft, creamy woodiness that smooths out the aromatic sharpness of the lavender and reinforces the fragrance’s refined masculinity. Incense and tobacco enter as supporting players, with incense lending a gentle, restrained smokiness and tobacco contributing a dry, warm, subtly sweet undertone. In the background, there are flickers of fresh spiciness from ginger, as well as soft florals from geranium that carry a faint clove-like nuance, adding quiet complexity without disrupting the classic structure. Dry Down: The dry down is aromatic, woody, and ambery. The primary notes at this stage are lavender, sandalwood, amber, and carnation, with lavender and sandalwood continuing to lead the composition. Both notes retain their classically masculine character with very little loss in presence, preserving the fragrance’s clean and confident core. Amber then emerges beneath them, introducing a rich, balsamic warmth that deepens the overall profile without overwhelming the aromatics. Lastly, carnation becomes more pronounced here as well, reinforcing its spicy floral quality and adding character to the dry down. In the background, vetiver contributes faint hints of dry woodiness, while patchouli adds a subtle earthy undertone, both remaining secondary to the dominant aromatic and ambery structure. As the fragrance continues to settle, the balance gently tilts toward warmth and earthiness from the amber and patchouli, though the classic framework remains firmly intact. Performance: Projection during the first hour is strong, reaching roughly five to six feet and leaving a confident scent trail. After a few hours, projection remains consistent, while sillage softens slightly but stays clearly noticeable. Around the seven to eight hour mark, projection pulls in to about arm’s length, and the scent trail becomes light. The fragrance transitions into a skin scent shortly thereafter. Overall, performance is solid and fitting for a fragrance of this style and vintage. When to Wear: Envy is best suited for fall and winter wear and works equally well during the daytime or evening. Its structure makes it highly versatile, capable of being worn casually or dressed up for formal occasions. It also shines as a special occasion fragrance and can even work in an office setting when applied with restraint. Blind Buy: For fans of classically masculine fragrances such as Masculin Pluriel or Drakkar Noir, Envy is very much in that same vein. However, given its discontinued status and the inflated prices it now commands, this is not something to buy blindly. Sampling first is essential, especially before committing to what has become a significant financial investment. Final Verdict: After finally spending time with Envy on skin, it’s clear to me why it holds such an exalted place within the fragrance community. This is a truly magnificent example of classic men’s perfumery, executed with confidence, depth, and timeless appeal. As my tastes have evolved, I’ve grown to appreciate profiles like this more and more, and Envy feels like a benchmark for the style. That said, two practical factors ultimately keep it out of my collection. The first is price. Its discontinuation and legendary status have driven costs to unreasonable levels, making it difficult to justify at around four hundred dollars. The second is familiarity. The overall character reminds me strongly of Masculin Pluriel, which I already own and enjoy. Taking those points together, there’s little incentive for me to pursue it at current market prices. Still, should I ever come across Envy at a rational cost, it would be very hard to pass up. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 8/10 Versatility: High Mass Appeal: Average Gender: Masculine Value: Extremely overpriced

Tracked down a decant and the discontinued hype is hyping - it's fine but not anything special and definitely not worth the discontinued prices.

It has been several years since I wore this cologne. I'm thinking my bottle might have degraded as the top notes are really unpleasant. It settles down to a very pleasing fragrance that last for hours. Would love to hear other people's thoughts.

This was the sh*t here in Europe back in the day. Absolutely loved it. The perfect autumn/winter scent, dark and spicy but yet soapy clean — and awesome staying power. Whether clubbing, hitting the shops, dating, going out for dinner — it was just so good and sexy. There was no real niche market back then, just beginning, so a new release by a top luxury brand was a big, big thing for fragrance fans, as was the case with Egoïste some years before and with Poison and Antaeus before that. And yes, it was a huge hit. So then Gucci… pulled it? Why?! Their best scent, gone. If you can find a vintage bottle, grab it. An easy 9 / 10.

Don't come for me, But I wore Gucci Envy f1 to the office today - a love of mine i don't wear often. Then half way through the day - all of a sudden a garbage fly attacked me today, I was dodging under my desk, swatting it. It landed on everything cleaning his hands like he was preparing for a feast - till I finally swatted him away somewhere else. Garbage flies don't bother me - ever. I was skyping my coworker - her response to the fly was WAY BACK THERE??? I'm far far away from the main hall where the garbage's are. Hours later I had an epiphany and I whiff my arm - completely disassociated from my biases and likes - coming to realize that Gucci Envy in its mid to base is reminiscent of that quintessential sweet earthy spicy vanillic garbage heap smell you get when you get close to a mass garbage bin to throw your bag away (Minus the rotten smell that makes you hurl). I am not being a troll - I love Gucci Envy - but the comparison is striking. I can't believe Gucci Envy is reminiscent of a garbage heap - yet I like it - I even searched the comments with Ctrl + F to see if anyone else noticed the comparison - no one does! Am I going crazy? Cause I swear i'm not - the fly has spoken. Even the FLY is green like Gucci Envy. Tf is going on right now. Halp.

This one is wonderful. Nostalgia aside, it was my boyfriend's signature scent. I still have a little of it, which I wear twice a year. Back then, we used perfumes; there weren't any databases about them yet. Now, I think of all the wonderful fragrances that are discontinued in no time that they probably contain ingredients that turn out to be harmful to health. Maybe they can get away with it once, but not if they're kept in production. What surprises me most is that there's a range of designer fragrances that stay in production for years and years, and they're often not the best.

Absolutely love everything about this fragrance. I bought my first bottle in 2002 and it lasted me years. Exceptional performance but as others have mentioned this is more for a date night or a formal event, rather than a daily casual. I’m on the lookout for what would be my 3rd bottle and to be honest I’m not too mad at the reseller price. I’ve paid more for a Creed recently which in my opinion is inferior to Envy in many ways. One day the world will run out of this and it’ll be like it never existed.. but I’m pretty sure if Gucci ever re-released it, they would reformulate it beyond recognition and it would probably last 30 minutes on the skin. I’m not sure which outcome is worse! Probably better to let it die on its sword rather than come back with no soul like some rancid dog from Pet Semetary.

This is a very good fragrance. Ginger, cardamom, sandalwood, anise. It's a spicy, creamy, sweet fragrance. The anise in the dry down is faint but it balances everything out so well. The ingredients are high quality. I wouldn't have expected the quality to be this high for a designer fragrance. This is more of a dating fragrance than something to wear to work or an everyday fragrance. The ginger makes it unique. It is youthful.

A rich EDP concentration of spicy ginger, alluring florals, spiritual incense, and a sweet ambery warmth (no gourmand sweetness). No distinguishable fruits, no animalics, no masculine notes like tobacco nor leather persay, but also no feminine notes neither. A hybrid blend & unique palette of green notes (not resembling traditional 60s, 70s, and 80s greens) simmering on low in a boiling pot making everything incredibly warm with a light steam. People that hate on this truly astonish me. There is NOTHING like this in perfumery - its such a sweet spot of many influences modestly delivering what childish generations don't have time for nowadays; expensive modest regal elegance with conservative allure. This doesn't ask you to smash the YouTube like button - instead you beg this to post a video. Masterpiece.

Ah! The High-school sweet years... had countless bottles of this magnificent juice. Signature and memories maker! People knew I was there and people befriend me easily based on this. Alongside PH 1, 2 ... this is easily a 10/10 in perfumery and honestly... I MISS THIS with a passion! Gucci, listen to us and give us Envy again, make it dense and we will buy it!

Used to wear this in my Early Twenties in the Early 2000's, before heading to the various Bars and Nightclubs in my Home City. Remember it being Fantastic. Gucci, please bring this back!

All the great Gucci fragrances during Tom Ford's reign have been discontinued. I wonder if there is something to that. Gucci haven't come close to those great scents ever since. This one should never have been discontinued.

Wearing this today and it’s reminding me why this was my signature scent for years. So well blended, woody, spicy, and masculine. From when there was no such thing as a unisex fragrance

Nostalgia more than anything for me.This was my first back in the early 00's along with the black plastic aftershave. Thinking back on it , it wasn't age appropriate for a 12 year old... pretty woodsy. Asked a girl out for the first time with this on.

Envy For Men is smooth and seductive, both spicy and creamy. It's more suitable in a romantic setting than a formal business setting. Despite the long list of notes, it doesn't smell particularly complex - it's basically intense spices and wood smoothed out by warm amber and tobacco. I've always loved this scent, and I still have my bottle that I bought over 20 years ago. However, it is far from being one of the greatest scents ever made or a perfect masterpiece. I think people are gushing over it now simply because it's been discontinued for about 15 years and is very hard to find. I remember back when it was issued in the late 90s, and although people liked it, I don't remember people gushing over it like they do now.

This intoxicating scent evokes the sharp allure of wealth and ambition, capturing the essence of money and greed. Imagine Gordon Gekko striding through the bustling streets of Wall Street in the film, exuding an aura of confidence and power. It transports you to the dynamic world of Manhattan's high finance in the vibrant 1980s, where every moment is charged with the excitement of opportunity and risk. The fragrance envelops you like a tailored suit, embodying the spirit of ambition and the relentless pursuit of success in a time when fortune favored the bold.

Contains "FD&C Yellow Nº 10," "FD&C Green Nº 3," "FD&C Red Nº 33," -- this stuff is terrible for your lungs, skin, nervous system, and endocrine system. Choosing to smell sexy shouldn't be a hazardous decision.
