Wearing it today. And for the first time, I was actually able to smell the freshly baked pastry vanilla (there is no bakery near me). Stunning perfume with high-quality ingredients. I just wish it lasted longer than 3 hours on my skin.
It was love at first sniff. I just got it from Galeries Lafayette in Paris, and it smells absolutely beautiful. It is soft and refined, but not a cloyingly sweet gourmand. It is also much easier to wear than the usual Shalimar. The scent stays close to the skin rather than projecting so strongly that everyone turns to look. I genuinely love it.
An absolutely heavenly blend of citrus, vanilla and florals! Dare I say ahead of its time given how popular lemon vanilla perfumes are nowadays. Unlike some of the more widely-known lemon gourmands, Souffle remains clean, airy and elegant. One should expect as much though with a name like Souffle. It just sounds light and fancy, am I right? ;) If you're looking for a perfume that smells like a super sweet and indulgent lemon dessert, Souffle isn't it. It's more like a frosty sparkling lemonade made with a touch of vanilla bean-infused simple syrup.... and you're sipping it in a garden with beautiful flowers nearby. I also agree with others in that, much like with most Guerlain perfumes, Souffle possesses a certain vintage charm and timelessness. That doesn't mean it smells dated or heavy, but the notes read more complex than what's listed. I'm so delighted to have this in my collection now, and I will cherish and enjoy it for years to come!
The most beautiful citrus and vanilla combination. But oh my god this is so strong. Sprayed a few sprays om my arms this evening, and it's too strong for me to use in the summer. I now have a headache. I happily use Shalimar EdP in the summer evenings when in bed with no issues, so i'm not sure why this is... I hope i will enjoy it more in the autumn and winter time!
For some reason Souffle gives me terrible nauseous. I guess it's white musk. I really tried my best, as I like it on blotter, but as soon as I spray on skin, headache, stomachache. . .and its so long lasting that it kills me :)
I've had a couple of bottles of this perfume over the years, and it just hit me today out of the blue that this smells like Pepsi, or Pepsi Twist, it's very carbonated, fizzy, spicy, almost with a root beer quality to it. A Pepsi Twist vanilla float?
I love Guerlain, it's my favorite house, and I was always sad that I don't like Shalimar, its most iconic fragrance. Something about it makes me nauseous, and I really dislike the animalic notes in the base. I tries L'essense and it was too much vanilla for me. This is my Shalimar. Not too much vanilla and nothing animalic. Very fresh and clean and not heavy. There isn't much similar to the original here but I'm okay with that. Beautiful complex fragrance, very happy to have this.
I recently bought this perfume, and I’m honestly mad at myself for missing out on something this beautiful for so long. I blind bought it, trusting my feelings, and from the very first spray, I was mesmerized. It felt like I somehow already knew where this fragrance was going, how it would evolve. At that moment, I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be, like I had found something that truly belonged to me. The opening starts with lemon and mandarin, making you feel as if you’ve just dived into cool waters. For a brief moment, it even reminded me of Chanel Coco Noir. Soon after, I get delicate jasmine and orange blossom resting on a base that reminds me of that beautiful vanilla in Guerlain Shalimar. These florals are never dominant. They touch the composition in the most delicate way. And then comes that beautiful vanilla… Don’t think of a vanilla like Kayali Vanilla 28. The vanilla in Shalimar Souffle is powdery and delicate. It settles onto your skin the way a silk dress touches your body. Soft, delicate, and almost weightless. On my skin, it lasted around 6 to 7 hours, although the projection was not amazing, around an arm’s length. But honestly, I wouldn’t expect strong projection from a fragrance like this. Although it feels like a fragrance you could wear in any season, I already know I’ll especially enjoy it in summer. In one word: Obsessed!
This is a Shalimar for the days I don't want to be "too Shalimar". The opening is a zesty lemon, as to be expected, but after that I get a perfectly pleasant - though somewhat muted - base of that familiar musky vanilla minus any animalic (one of the Shalimar notes I most enjoy). This is one to be experienced on warmer days, days where you might put on a summer dress but still run after your dogs along the water's edge - sophisticated but not putting on airs. If you're not sure about a Shalimar scent but want to dip your toes in, this might be the place to start. A lovely perfume
Shalimar Souffle de Parfum by Guerlain is a refined, modern take on the iconic Shalimar—lighter, softer, and far more approachable. It opens with a bright burst of bergamot wrapped in a noticeable powdery veil, which can feel slightly jarring at first; especially if you’re not used to vintage-leaning compositions. There’s an interesting contrast here: airy citrus meets an old-world elegance that feels both bold and nostalgic. As it settles, the fragrance transforms beautifully. The sharpness fades into a smooth, comforting vanilla base, soft, powdery, and almost cloud-like, like being wrapped in a warm, delicate veil. This stage is where it truly shines, becoming cozy, elegant, and quietly addictive. While it carries a vintage undertone, it never feels outdated. Instead, it strikes a balance between classic and contemporary, making it wearable even today. Overall, this is a scent that may take a moment to appreciate, but once it settles, it reveals a graceful blend of citrus, powder, and vanilla—perfect for those who enjoy a soft, comforting fragrance with a touch of timeless sophistication.
Just wearing one of my favorite perfumes again today. It's been since last summer since I've touched this because I feel it's a summer scent. Tonight I am so confused!!! It smells like lilies, citrus, and vanilla!!! It's the same lilies type scent I find in Shalimar Jasmine Milesemé. That's so unusual because I don't think lilies are in either one! So wild.
I ordered 3rd party samples of both "Souffle" and "L'Essence" versions and after comparing back to back, I think they may have been mistakenly reversed in my order. I received this decant labeled "L'Essence" but think it's actually "Souffle": Applies more juvenile feminine vanilla than other versions. Wet mossy chord provides great balance upfront. Soft dry woody musk adds minimal contrast. Top note is too teenage girl. Sugary candy floss radiates. Faint grassy vetiver adds intriguing base up close, but too light. I got a sampler of 5 different Shalimars and this is the least. Maybe geared towards a younger crowd. There's a bubblegum energy I can't gel with as a dude. The vanilla has a maple vibe that helps add depth. The darkness counter the sweet along with the fresh herbal notes that aren't bitter. Impressive and I like going in for the dank vetiver complexity, but the top note is still too sugary. Of all the Shalimars, this leans feminine the quickest while the vintage EDT settles into it more than the other modern versions.
This is a really interesting scent. On me, it's very forward with the white florals and musk. I feel the term "well-blended" isn't always very helpful, but this does feel "well-blended" to me. I can pick out many parts of the fragrance: musk, white florals, lemon pith and zest, a creaminess that comes alongside some lemon-flavored desserts—if you've ever had that frosted lemonade drink from Chik-fil-A, the creaminess is a bit bit like that—but at the same time, all these parts are better together as a whole. Lasts a long time, I put it on around 12 hours ago and I can still smell it. I was personally hoping for something more gourmand forward, but don't let my preferences deter you. This is a truly excellent and elegant scent. It feels like something a princess or a daughter of a president might wear. Sophisticated, light, airy, and with a presence. Lovely scent.
This opens like a beautiful tart au citron, it really feels like a lemon soufflé body cream, I honestly love it. It evolves into a more mature powdery fragrance with time, but this is really a show stopper. On my wishlist!
If you like perfumes such as Baker by Akro and Devotion by Dolce & Gabbana, with a retro and musky touch, then this fragrance might be for you. However, I wouldn’t recommend buying it blind, as its slightly retro character could be disappointing for some. It is fresh thanks to the lemon, yet the warmth of the vanilla and the musk give it a very interesting sweet citrus nuance. This perfume is not a copy of Devotion or Baker by Akro; it has its own DNA and something that makes it feel a bit retro (no, it doesn’t smell old-fashioned), but I know it’s not for everyone. It is extremely elegant, classic, feminine, and regal. A true beast in terms of longevity and projection.
If this had just come out now, I could believe that Guerlain had said “let’s take a version of all the lemon cookie bar perfumes that are so popular now, and combine them with Shalimar.” But a very airy, diffuse, light version of Shalimar. But since this came out before all the lemon cookies, you have to wonder if Guerlain was prescient. However, Shalimar Souffle is not a gourmand. It’s very pretty, light but diffusive, floral but not in a femme fatale way. This will work in any situation and any season. Probably best in spring but I think it’s very multi purpose. The top notes are lemon cookie, as you’d expect, and the dry down is Shalimar lite, with a heart that’s a pretty mix of both. It lasts about 6 hours on skin.
This scent is amazing! I had to stop a woman in an Ikea store and ask what she was wearing. I could just smell the finest vanilla scent and bear in mind I dont like vanilla at all. But this was the most beautiful and purest vanilla I have ever smelt. Since then of course I own a bottle and adore it!!
I wanted this immediately when it came out, after kicking myself for missing the Iris flanker that sounded dreamy ;; It was well worth the blind buy! The opening is a burst of citrus, musk, and a hint of jasmine.. Almost evocative of orange rinds? Its a bit sharp, and when I haven't worn it in a while, I find myself questioning why I loved it so much based on the first sniff LOL But it just needs a few minutes to settle and work its magic! The vanilla comes in stronger as it dries down, and it all melts into this divine sweetness that isn't sugary or powdery.. Everything blends together beautifully! It gets creamier and softer the longer I wear it~ It hits that sweet spot between not being too mature or childish! Its fluffy and airy like a whisper, deserving of the name Souffle ♡ Delicate, comforting, and sophisticated~ It is more of a skin scent, don't expect huge projection! But as I move, it'll gently waft and I'll get a sudden whiff of it through the day ^^/ It seems to last all day on me! It's a beautiful fall and winter scent, but I've worn it in spring too ^^/ It was my favorite cold weather scent last year and I couldn't stop reaching for it! More refined than Dolce & Gabbana Devotion!! Devotion is a little more synthetic (in comparison) and is much louder on my skin, and Shalimar Souffle is more like a vanilla forward than it is citrusy♡ Edit: a Sephora employee snuck me a ton of extra samples without telling me, and I got followed around the store by someone else while wearing this >< Definitely *not* the attention I want in public, but that probably speaks to how amazing this scent is for me!! ^^;
Sexy feminine oriental floral fragrance! It leaves an amazing trail and it gets me so many compliments!
A happy, sparkling Shalimar without the animalic touches but still she carries the very own soul of it. Shalimar’s steaming musky, powdery soul with her bergamots is enhanced with a happier citrus accord and powdery vanilla. A true staple of the famous Guerlinade accord. And shines bright on one’s skin. Classy, timeless and chic. A personal must have for me. She calms, comforts and completes me, Please cher Guerlain, don’t you dare discontinue Souffle. Never.
This is what I've selected to celebrate the 100th BD of Shalimar. Regardless its quite possible reformulation displacing the discontinuation rumours, whatsoever, this remains Guerlain to the core. I disagree it had no connection to the Guerlinade or did not resemble its 100 yo rival. Souffle is indeed both and you need to love classics to drink the bottle. All in all - it possesses more richness and style than any one-night stand lemon tart comparison. This perfume will continue to outlive the armies of niche/molecule pawns.
I honestly feel like I put on a completely different perfume. I even double-checked to make sure they hadn’t sent me the wrong Shalimar. I can’t smell anything from the listed notes—just heavy, bitter, vintage florals. I was expecting something almost gourmand, and I don’t even get any citrus. Overall, this scent is everything I dislike. So far, there hasn’t been a single perfume from this brand that I’ve actually liked. Edit Alright, three hours later this thing finally softened, and now I’m starting to get some vanilla with a slight gourmand vibe. Apparently, I need to wait three hours for those bitter, retro florals to fade away.
This is so pretty! It's a very clean, fresh air, light, and rich at the same time type of fragrance. Most of all to my nose, it's lemony, floral, musky, fresh, and a little bit of the original Shalimar spiciness. It's not gourmand at all. This is a fresh sunny spring or summer morning! It's performing beautifully in the heat. This has got to be one of my favorite purchases of the year!! 🙌
A very aromatic citrus vanilla is what I'm smelling. A hint of vanilla here. A hint of lemon there. A bit of sweetness here. A little hit of jasmine there. That Guerlain vanilla can be smelled so distinctively even in this very simple yet elegant as fuck perfume. I feel like I need to get off the couch and at least put on some mascara and lip gloss. It's so aromatic too. I keep trying to breathe in more and more like I'm just getting a little bit of something but this delicate lady does not impose. Its almost like your own skin if it smelled like shalimar if that makes sense. And I keep trying to smell more but she won't let me she just hints at something. If perfumes had personality this one would be enigmatic. She's a bit light on her feet. Fleeting. Hard to catch but manages to still be there hours later too. This is how I imagine Tinkerbell smells. Because I keep thinking, what was THAT I just smelled? Then another whiff and I get the HINT of the perfume again. Very good naming. Breath of Shalimar. It is like a perfume's perfume. She is not in your face she is fluffy and airy and all around you yet by far from being overpowering yet most definitely there. This is such interesting performance. I've never had a perfume play peekaboo before.
This is really beautiful and I prefer it to the original Shalimar. I was bought a bottle as a gift and I used it someone, but still found myself going back to the perfumes I love more. It is really pleasant, but just smells uninteresting on me.
Shalimar Souffle de Parfum, by Guerlain, smells like vanilla, powder, vanilla ice cream, lemon zest oversaturated with sugar, animalic musk and balsam. This flanker is very different and has nothing in common with the original Shalimar. Nevertheless, it is a very pleasant perfume. The notes don't appeal to me, but if this is your vibe, it is a very nice scent to wear.
I have the impression that most of the comments focus on the top notes (lemon), not the dry down, where the real magic happens. This is a different kind of citrus-white floral, and you have to wear it longer than an hour to realise that it is a light, blue fragrance, so different from others up there. All the ingredients melt into one beautiful scent at the end; you just have to wait.
Yes, this scent is fresh, clean and airy, I agree. But it lacks character. I can barely smell anything other than lemon. It is only slightly different from lemonade smell, which is because of the tiny amount of spice they put in. I hated the original Shalimar as well, but at least that fragrance was trying to tell something. This one just sucks.
I think that I'm glad I didn't get the Intense version of this fragrance (it's really hard to find anyway), because I find that this vanilla used here has a rather ambery benzoin feel to it and is already rather deep and I wouldn't want it to have any more added benzoin. I was expecting more of a light, fluffy vanilla and citrus fragrance and this is a bit deeper and darker than I was expecting, but I'm not necessarily mad about it-it's Guerlain's take on a citrus gourmand. It's floral, indolic jasmine, bright, crisp lemons, smoky, amber, benzoin, and semi-sweet, thick vanilla. It's sophisticated, and while technically simplistic, I also find it to be unexpected and unique, and truly within the Guerlain DNA using high quality ingredients. While it is a mass-produced fragrance, Guerlain is noted for using high quality ingredients in their fragrances and actually make their own iris butter for the iris note in Shalimar. This is a great citrus fragrance to wear in the fall or winter, especially if you're not really into gourmands. It's important to note that there is this 'smoky' note within the base that isn't a traditional smoky note and it's a smokiness that one gets more from ambers and benzoin than tobacco or smoke itself.
It's elegant, soft, fluffy, zesty floral... it is like a lemon tart. I looove it... it's on my wishlist for sure !
