Well, maybe it’s my skin, but I don’t think so, but all of my Hermes fragrances do not have much projection. I ordered the absolu hoping it would pack more of a punch. I think it’s more of an “understated elegance “ theme that has come to be expected by the brand. Even if you are an oversprayer, I don’t think it’s possible to be offensive to anyone wearing their scents. It smells very pretty and natural, like those casual beauties that don’t wear a stitch of makeup, gifted with perfect skin and great genes. I would describe it as an earthy citrus, with very faint florals. I wouldn’t call this a compliment catcher, at least on me, because I don’t feel anyone would be able to tell you have on a fragrance, but rather that you use a fragrant soap or lotion. It smells very natural and blends into my skin chemistry making individual notes indecipherable. It does project a bit more once it warms up on skin, but still is bit too understated for my personal tastes. I like it for situations that call for little fragrance but I wouldn’t repurchase it and will most likely pass it on. It’s pretty, but a bit “beige” for me. Several hours later….. I think I have to take back what I said earlier! This fragrance really came to life after a couple hours and is still going! And once it dries down and warms up, it actually is quite beautiful!! I still wouldn’t call it a huge projector, but I can definitely smell it and it’s lovely! I would suggest giving it a full wear test before purchasing! It really transformed on my chemistry after a few hours into a lovely scent!
Such a lovely summer scent. Starting from a fresh, a tad bitter grapefruit, and developing with gardenia and jasmine. It depicts a carefree rich lady enjoying her life. (I hope that's me, someday!) I love all Hermes femine scents; they are not groundbreaking for sure but they come with elegant taste and can be used without concern in most scenarios.
For some reason this does smell like Barenia, I cannot ignore the similarities. Although I would say Barenia is more airy and this one is a little denser. The citrusy floral vibe is amazing, but it feels like a version that needed the revamp to finally become Barenia. Also it’s a little sweeter on my skin. Overall a basic but beautiful one. - Bhavna Darira Chesan
I first got this fragrance in 2015 and I fell in love. My first Hermés frag but not my last. Definitely my favourite from the brand though. I asked my husband to get me another bottle when this ran out but he got the original one not the Absolu. It's still good but the Absolu is the best
Taking my experience with the original Jour as a starting point: very sheer, translucent whisper of a scent that barely showed up on my skin, Absolu is definitely an improvement in presence. It’s still delicate, still very much in the “second skin” category, but at least this one actually registers when I wear it. Absolu is more floral, more noticeable, and has a touch more body. The clean green brightness is still there, but now it’s rounded out with a soft, luminous floral aura that feels perfect for summer. Fresh, airy, but with enough substance that you don’t have to hunt for it with full concentration. It’s essentially Jour with a pulse, a lovely warm-weather option if you want something uplifting without weight.
I had smelled this fragance or the eau de toilette one at the airport a few years ago. I remember thinking how it was beautifully blended. I finally got it recently, and I still love it even if spring or summer season (Irish weather) would be more suitable. This is a light floral with a hint of grapefruit where the apricot blossom shines brightly. A writer on Fragantica described Ellena's line "les Jardins" as watercolours, and this is how I would describe this fragance as well. Light, delicate and transparent hues of pink and orange... Beautiful!
It’s citrus peels and fresh floral gold, the opulence of the light on the brut champagne, her lips, her lamé dress, her velvety skin, like suede, like apricot tenderness, it’s yellow green mimosa somewhere, in the backyard, and the mouthwatering sparkles of her pure joy.
I love how apricot-forward this beauty is. It's hard to go wrong with a Jean Claude-Ellena composition, and this is no exception, although it took me some time to 'get' this one. The first few times I smelled Jour d'Hermes Absolu was in passing at airports, etc., and I just couldn't get a good handle on what I was smelling -- it smelled nice, but somehow I couldn't discern its character -- it wasn't overly floral, certainly not sweet (as we've become so accustomed to); there were florals for sure but I could not decipher which ones - yet it wasn't that it smelled boring or lacking in character - I just needed more time to understand this one. Finally, one of the last times I spritzed this on - again at some duty free airport shop, I spritzed with abandon and - aaahhhhh, now I got it -- the apricotty-smoothe suade nature of Jour finally came through and I fell in love. And it lasted for ages!! After slowly testing the waters with this one over a few years, I've finally bought a bottle and am loving how it wears. The apricot really comes through (and it's one of my favorite notes) giving this a peachy-osthmanthus vibe; I don't get gardenia at all, and it is indeed quite tart. It's certainly a unicorn in the era of sweet mass market floral gourmands. If you want something truly elegant, unique and classy, I highly recommend this one!

Napokon sam dočekala da mi stigne posle mnogo godina testiranja i tihe patnje da postane moj. Slučajno sam ga isprobala jednog sparnog, letnjeg dana u Mülleru i jako me je zaintrigirao taj grejpfrut prvenstveno.
I received this as a gift when I was in early twenties, before I felt like i was a real adult. I am now in my early thirties. I still wear this only on days when i want to feel like a real adult. a real adult lady.
ultimate perfume to wear in hot summer. it is not your generic freshie though, but an old money kind of freshie
That’s a lovely fruity jasmine - warm and soft. It’s quite velvety, with a beautiful suede base and slightly spicy undertones. It’s still super floral for my taste, but done nicely. I would love to smell it from someone else. Would definitely give a compliment on this one)) Follow me on IG: scent.guide
This one is definitely more white floral fragrance than citrus fragrance. I love citrus, but I do not tolerate white florals well, and this one was too much for me. I like the original one Jour d'Hermes better than Absolu, as it is fresher. Too much white flowers in both though. I have a feeling that these lose some of their sparkling freshness with aging. Gorgeous bottles, what a pleasure to hold in hand! Lovely scent when worn by others.
I asked my husband for Jour d’Hermes and he instead got me the absolu. I do love it but I don’t find myself reaching for it a lot because the opening is so screechy and green/citrusy to me. The floral and oak moss dry down is what I’m waiting for but I can’t always get over the slightly sour opening. The bottle is exquisite and elegant with the script writing showing through on the back. Classic is a tweed and loafers kind of way.
I'm surprised, but I actually don't like this one. I was hoping for a weightier, more mature version of Jour d'Hermes, which I really like but just seems a little too light-weight for me -- almost like shampoo -- but I'm finding the Absolu version to be a weird combination of notes -- a sort of bitter grapefruit + oakmoss that mixes with the florals in a sour way. The formula of notes seems a bit like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, which I do enjoy, but this one doesn't work for me like Coco Mad does. So far, with Hermes, I'll stick with my Jardin series...
Noticed this on a woman in Palm Beach and had to ask what she was wearing. It matched her vibe perfectly. She was a classy woman, maybe in her 40s, wearing a beautiful white dress with matching white nails. She was flawlessly groomed and looked like she never goes a day without a spa treatment. One day I'd love to be like her, but for now I just have the same perfume haha. Understated elegance in a bottle. It's grapefruit peel and white florals. Feminine class. It's fresh and clean but not sharp. Smells less like you're wearing perfume and more like you just use luxury body products.
This is one of the very few perfumes I really don't enjoy. The first time I tested it, I couldn't quite describe the smell. It is very nostalgic though, almost like being in a market not a fancy market, but the kind that sells fish and vegetables (It's very earthy). Then I tried it a second time, and this time I know why it felt so nostalgic. This perfume smells like the hair conditioner that they use in the old salon I grew up going to with my mom, but more potent.
I’m surprised nobody mentions that it’s in the similar direction with “Love, don’t be shy” by Kilian. After they both settle down for around 15 mins. I wouldn’t say it’s a dupe, but they are for sure cousins.
This is so weird. I have immersed myself into Hermes right now and been testing for few days now. I wouldn't have even grabbed this if there wasn't a lady who immediately went straight for the bottle and sprayed herself full with this. I had to try it then too. And mmmm, such a weird but good fragrance. I don't like citrus fragrances at all, you can smell the grapefruit, but its not the number one, dominant scent. The white floral is the saviour. Such a mature scent, definitely not for younger girls and doesn't suit everyone. I, myself am in my 20s, I like it but I don't think this is me. Also tried the OG, I much preferred this.
have a small sample vial and have worn a few times. to me and on my skin there is an immense peppery/spicy aspect that is a bit too much. if it was a little less pronounced to me it would be absolutely lovely, and perfect spring/summer, and early fall in warmer climates. the longevity on me is very good though it is that peppery aspect that I am still smelling. imo this is unisex.
I'm just getting a lot of the grapefruit here mixed with jasmine, with hints of the oakmoss in the base. I'm not getting any of the other notes. This is an incredibly sour, bitter and citrusy white floral perfume that kind of reminds me of something you'd use to clean the toilet. Somewhat pleasant smell to clean the toilet, but still a fresh toilet cleaner smell nonetheless. It's a daytime fragrance for sure and something you'd wear in the spring or the summer. It's also fairly unisex to my nose, since it's equally as citrusy as it is white floral. Both the sillage and the longevity were average on me and I got about 4 ½ hours of wear on my skin before the scent completely dissipated. It certainly wasn't a love for me and so I'd give this a 5/10.
A very intriguing and confusing fragrance, in my experience. My impressions differ greatly depending on the season and weather conditions. Peak of summer (our first encounter): beautiful citrussy elderflower. Rich, deep, with a refined sourness that made it refreshing, but not typically fresh. Late autumn: still beautiful, but more dense and somehow austere. More floral and bitter. Less charming, perhaps. Winter: dusty, almost stale floral, borderline unpleasant and suffocating. Very confusing, considering the previous experience. Spring: tender grapefruit with soft flowers. Seemingly discreet and close to the skin, it got me several compliments today. One of them was from my colleague who could smell it immediately when she entered the office. She said it was lemony, flowery and extremely natural-smelling. There is a nice, seamless progression from the citrus/fruity top to the woody base, with no drastic changes. The amount of sweetness is more or less constant, more honey-like than sugary, and very well-calibrated. Very pleasant overall, while not being a typical mainstream floral. Conclusion: A not-too-sweet floral with a strong citrus accord. Very interesting and in my experience very chameleonic. Now I'm really curious about the original Jour, which I tried on one occasion, but without paying too much attention. Seems to be a line worth exploring. Beautiful, elegant bottles and packaging.
A very elegant perfume, long lasting, cheerful, brightening. True description of fine perfumery. Werable in a slow pace day, and at the same time at your peak activity, summer freshness, winter warmth. Minimalism philosophy that unfolds in a yin yang balance of citruses and florals. Lifts the mood. I feels standing out of the crowd especially that most people smell like Baccarat Rouge or Tuscan Leather nowdays. Suitable for anyone that feels that has some achirvements in life or as big dreams. At least it gives me that feeling. Esp3cially if you have read any book of Jean Claude Ellena you feel even more resonating with it. I see in the comments about its bittern and being sour. You can feel them both but very sofly in harmony, nothing boring or overbearing. If you are looking for an elegant fine fragrance that gives the sense of balance between strengh and vulnerability for me this is a go.
Peach Bellinis with soft petals on top!!! Hands down a delicious and fizzy peach, mixed some airy florals and a hint of grapefruit. I can smell the peach straight from the top notes all the way to the drydown. I was not expecting this..clearly a must try before buying, as I can see from the reviews people percieve this very differently. Very feminine, great longevity and defintely not your typical designer floral frag.
If Flowers in the Attic had a perfume. Ugh. Old dirt, dying flowers, sour, dusty attic wood.
It goes to show how wildly different scent perception is because I can’t relate to a lot of the reviews below stating this is sour or cloying. I see the similarity to Chanel Gabrielle but Gabrielle has a very cloying quality to it that lives up your nose and in your mouth all day so that you’re always tasting it, this scent doesn’t have that. The grapefruit is subdued and I get apricot/peach with airy floral vibes. It’s not overly fresh, but to me quite warm and sensuous. The sillage is not overly strong, it stays close to the skin but radiates nicely, and the longevity is actually very good in my opinion. 3 hours in and I am very much enjoying the soft feminine wafts of scent I applied this morning at the pulse points of my neck every time I move. I really adore this fragrance. It’s lady like but soft and inviting. I am wearing this in the spring but also smells lovely in summer and would likely be quite versatile for different occasions. I would say more of a daytime scent. While I am stepping away from designer fragrances I would like a small bottle of this.
Strong and sour
This is a really pretty scent. A subdued grapefruit floral. The notes are something you would expect from a Bath and Body scent, but in this formula, it's more refined. The dry-down is gorgeous, the woody oakmoss is very blends beautifully under the heavy floral. It's a skin scent, and it doesn't have any longevity; which is a shame because this could be a really pretty floral when you are feeling feminine and alluring. This is the second Hermes fragrance I have not been impressed by...for the price point I expect fireworks. **shrugs**
This fragrance is an upsetting one due to the difference between the opening and the drydown. The opening is a sweet floral bouquet of everything - unoriginal, not the most pleasant, and ultimately not as sophisticated as one would expect from Hermes. However, the drydown with the oakmoss matures the bouquet superbly into the ultimate floral chypre fragrance. What a shame.
