Scandal, by Jean Paul Gaultier, Eau de Parfum, smells like licorice and multivitamins. I can smell some citrus notes, floral notes, some licorice and a very medicinal synthetic scent. I smell no honey or caramel at all. I think that the licorice note generates a boozy scent, but there is no raw sweetness. I was not precise with what citrus and floral notes I identified, because I do not smell the listed ones. To me, the overall scent is the scent of multivitamins for kids, not the gummies, but the old school ones, that you had to crush between your teeth. This perfume is not for me, I do not wear synthetic scents.

Such a Beautiful honey fragrance, super sweet and rich, a tiny but mature too so it’s not a innocent sweet but more of an elegant bold sweetness.

A kind of perturbing first sniff. It took me two or three more to love it. Before having the clarity of its notes, it came across as a beautiful bouquet resting in cemetery water. Alive, but barely. I like how “biological” it smells. Like raw honey straight from the beehive. Yet it still owns that “globally” cosmetic smell, like a mother’s hand cream or eyeshadow– it feels clean, feminine, kind of nostalgic. I feel though, that I misunderstand this scent with something goth yet glamorous. When I see the flirty, fun packaging the perfume present itself, It almost feels like a mistranslation to me. But that is not important at all. I genuinely love, and am obsessed with Scandal.

Bless its heart, Scandal is aptly named. And frankly, this unhinged little masterpiece and I are now bonded for life. There are no surprises here. When a bottle has disembodied legs in stilettos flailing in the air, you know Chanel No. 5 it ain't. I typically avoid anything this sweet like the plague, but Scandal isn't just "sweet." It's honey sweet (emphasis on that), but done the right way. Think Poison Girl with venom. It starts with an AVALANCHE of blood orange and honey. And I don't mean the drizzle of honey on your Sunday morning scone. It's THICK and viscous, bordering on chaotic. It develops into a heavy patchouli and gardenia that drag all that sugar down into the dirt, transforming this into a surprisingly gorgeous gourmand-chypre. It crosses the line from "reality TV villainess" to "chaotic bestie you have to keep an eye on at the bar." I value borderline offensive projection and sillage more than anything. Dear lord, for the first half hour, Scandal is all that and then some. I roll my eyes when people write reviews about having to scrub perfumes off because they're too strong. Dearies, I dare you to try to scrub Scandal away. If anything, it'd only enrage the beast and speed up your demise. No, this stuff is NOT for the faint of heart. Ironically, once the beast finally tires itself out, the drydown is a different story. What you initially think will be an overbearing clubbing fragrance turns into an elegantly anchored base. The chaotic honey melts into an anchor of beeswax and caramel. It's really quite tame. Lingering and noticeable, but never overbearing. The architecture of this is impressive. Tame finish or not, sometimes you just want to have fun and step out of your polite comfort zone. Scandal does that job better than any other fragrance I've ever encountered. Sure, the bottle is a total gag and the marketing is wonderfully tacky, but there's an undeniably GREAT fragrance to back it up. LIVE A LITTLE. Stop playing it so safe and give these stilettos a spin.

This fragrance is like a chameleon, as are most JPG’s perfumes. Sweet delightful opening that only gets more complex and unique the more you let it sit on the skin. It starts with honeycomb sweetness, which becomes a honey drizzled red orange and develops into honey and orange blossom in the dry down. Was not expecting to like it this much, as I despise citrus notes in perfumes, but this is straight up honey sweetness that only gets better the more you wear it. Longevity and projection are splendid.

A nice honey opening that dries down to a sweet beeswax i get about 9 hours on skin and 17 hours on clothes it smells as if you walked into a market that sells grains of marsah (saudi dish) and i like that 9.4/10

Animalic gourmand. On skin i smell thick, syrupy honey beeswax trapped inside a barn, with a stinky taurus or civet . it is a sexy scandalous perfume

smells like wearing bright pink lipstick, like going to the club at 18 with your girl friends

It strikes a balance between sweet and bold. When I spray more of it, it starts to become slightly bitter, but it still smells beautiful

The gut reaction I get from wearing this is a clichéd formula of what men think women like in a fragrance. It is a lighter version of Dior's Poison but not in a good way. My husband adds to my reviews now, and he said this smells like a Bath & Body Works lotion and is not sensual at all. He gives it 2 stars out of 5.

When i first bought this, I had no clue what I was smelling. At first I geniunly thought I was smelling pheromones and vagina. Had to take a few days to let it clear out and smell it in a new environment. When I smell this now i imagine a woman in her late 20's early 30's whos still got it going. She goes out on the town at night and has her fun. Blind bought in a set of 4, Gifted it to my older sister. Its her time to shine.

I must admit, this is lovely at the first instant but it went downhill fast for me. And even then, I could do without the sharp citrus facet to the opening. At first, I could discern honey and orange blossom, plus something a bit sharper and almost medicinally floral and sweet. I think this is the “blood orange” note? It soon transitions to a nice honeyed floral, it’s just TOO white-floral for my taste. It really does remind me of getting caught “with your pants down” so the name is appropriate, but not in a good way. It’s more like getting caught in a bathroom with a stale sweaty man smelling like Le Male and a distracting whiff of a urinal cake mixing with your honey body lotion, than a sexy rendezvous inadvertently made public. I think it’s the gardenia does this in for me, as I really enjoy most types of jasmine and orange flower. As it dries down, the florals *really* take over. Terrible!

I have the newer bottle with the non-rounded glass. Was worried they changed the formulation and upon first couple of sprays, it was fizzier than my sample of the original. Just wait a bit...this scent is a creeper and it evolves into beast mode while it's drying down. 10/10 beautiful and sexy scent.

Анонім

a very citrus heavy opening with the oranges, then it settles into a honey scent. Its a bit basic, could be a nice safe sweet scent.

tried a sample of this at the store and thought to myself this would be perfect for my baddie mom. please gift this to the baddie mom in your life.

It’s lovely, but quite heavy on the honey note. My skin tolerates very intense “beast mode” scents, so I’m lucky enough to be able to wear this. However, even I can’t overspray it. It’s not for those who dislike very heavy gourmand or honey-forward fragrances. My skin chemistry works well with warm amber, vanilla, sandalwood, ambroxan, musk, and cashmere woods, so if you’re similar, this is a good winter and nighttime fragrance. It was a blind buy for me, and I’d rate it 8/10. Longevity depends on how much you spray it, but on my skin it didn’t last more than about 5 hours (including some projection and one spray on the neck). Most heavy scents become smooth and warm on me over time, and this one does the same. I’m going to try layering it with fresher notes to see if I can bring out more of the top and middle notes. The sillage is good, and it apparently smells better from a distance than up close, according to comments I’ve received. For reference, I also own Yves Saint Laurent Libre Intense, Lancôme La Nuit Trésor, and Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle.

I sometimes wear this even as a man. I’m a huge fan of how intriguing and sexy it smells. It’s an amazing performer too lasts ages and is strong as they come. Huge fan of the Scandal collection from JPG despite gender. I’d argue that this perfume is pretty unisex personally.

I own the original in the smooth round bottle, the one without the facets. They both have the same name so I am not sure if they just changed the bottle or if the juice is meant to be different now but this does smell different, it doesn't have the honey notes or the floral notes, it seems like a sugery sweet vanilla creamy scent. It's very nice but I prefer the honey and floral notes just a bit more. Very rich and high quality as one would expect from the range.

Wearing this perfume feels like being in the office or school at 8am during daylight savings on a rainy Wednesday morning, with the overstimulating fluorescent lights on.

Анонім

too much honey, like nauseatingly too much . i sure will start a scandal if i breathe this one for a minute too long

Анонім

I have reviewed this (a long time ago) but wanted to add. I did a test including this and a few other popular designer fragrances including la vie est belle, black opium and kayali utopia vanilla Coco, all of the named are my top performers in my collection and favourites of mine. Scandal came out on top for both overall fragrance and performance.

Blind bought a tiny bottle and I'm surprised at how much honey notes I managed to decipher. There's a initial generic blast of something overwhelming and jarring that reminds me of being in a club in the mid 2000s where everyone has on the same familiar cacophony of smells...but then some tasty bees wax and honey notes keep it from becoming just another generic vanilla..I'm not a vanilla scent wearer but id love to have a solid complex honey perfume. I may need to layer this as its got that cartoon skull and cross bones smoke effect when you first uncap it like it could be too sweet or bracing but it stays just shy of it. The search for more honey smells goes on...

Even tho I like powerfull perfumes and this scent reminds me of one of the most beautiful & luxurious Opera nights, I cannot get over this annoying cloying cheap sentiment, I get the same vibe when I smell Viva la Juicy, even tho they are extreamly different. Not my cup of tea.

Анонім

Not a fan, it didn’t smell gourmand at all just very musky and waxy to me

Анонім

This perfume isn't bad at all, but for me it's heavy and a bit masculine. It has an intense scent when first applied; I can smell the caramel and sugary scent in the middle, But in the end, when it's completely dry, a masculine scent remains for me A dark and suitable scent for nighttime use Ultimately, a very sweet and masculine scent remains A bit like slightly burnt cookies and a bit like money.

Warm, pulsating, sensual, date-night (definitely not daytime), grown, unusual, exotic, dramatic, bold statement, big personality, rebellious, witchy, mystical, spiritual, Scorpio, vintage, sweet, syrup, honey, and kind of gives an oud oil vibe? Potent/strong/heavy with great long lasting projection; people will smell you before they see you. Definitely NOT “clean girl” friendly. So do not overspray (like i first did) otherwise it becomes rather overwhelming, aggressive, and cough inducing. Though, at the same time, I find that over spraying actually successfully amplified its powerful “witchy” vibe in an intentional way. I felt unstoppable and naughty, lol. So, it can definitely work - it just depends on what *you* personally like. I do not like citrusy, peach, and/or floral fragrances so the reason why I like this one is simply because those notes aren’t very prominent (imo). The older I get, the more I enjoy it (then 19 and now 25)! Not that it matters at all, but, a man who is *great* with fragrances gifted this to me, so, it seems to be expert as well as opposite-gender magnet approved.

Dirty, vulgar white florals (in a good way) with some honey. I don’t get the top citrus notes, but the gardenia, orange blossom, and jasmine are all stars here. I also don’t get the peach heart note. For a perfume of strictly white florals and citrus, I think the vintage Armani code for women is better. However, this has a honey note which the latter lacks. It’s nice. I think I do prefer this to Scandal Intense, but it does warrant a retry. Scandal Intense struck me as just confusing, a bit sweaty and fishy somehow. This is much more proper by comparison and much more cohesive in its vision. As time passes, Scandal becomes more honeyed and sweet, with the caramel emerging and the florals dying down a bit. It also takes on a slightly waxy quality from the beeswax, but it’s not masculine. It just adds a layer of modest complexity. I don’t get the liquorice note (thankfully). I like it!

I didn't like this at first. Thought it was too cloying. But it worked well with my body chemistry after spraying and it lasted me the whole night i was on a date. My date kept on smelling my neck because of this perfume. Said it's soooo sexy.
