I got an extremely unpleasant opening, sort of like a pungent smell of stale water where flowers have been sitting for couple of weeks. Perhaps I got a bad sample that is starting to go bad. It went away after a minute or two, and what remains is a pure, undiluted rose fragrance. It is quite nice.

I've always proclaimed to hate red roses; I associated them with a lazy boyfriend instead of true romance. My heart would sink at the sight of a sad 12-stem red rose bouquet from the grocery store still wrapped in branded cellophane, an obviously obligatory gift for a supposedly special day. I expected this staleness from Jo Malone Red Roses, especially given its soliflore character. Thankfully, it's more like putting my nose to a single rose cut from my mom's garden, with water droplets on the petals. The lemon top note subtly adds life to its innately melancholy character (I guess I still have a negative association with red roses and that's no one's problem but mine!). Unlike other rose scents, I like that it's not feminine, sweet, or romantic. A rose can just be a rose. It does not have to be used to woo me. Chief Keef signing off

Straightforward rose scent. I don't detect much else. Very office safe, safe for overspraying, and fine for layering.

Smells like photorealistic roses. Like you just bent down to cut a fresh rose from a bush. There is a metallic earthy smell to this scent that makes it just so realistic, and it makes it stand out compared to other rose perfumes i've tried. I'm a girl, but I kind of feel like a prince in a fairytale when I wear this lol. 10/10 and great for layering with other scents- I sometimes layer this with Queens and Monsters by Henry Rose, but I think it would be great for making a deeper more gothic scent a little lighter too.

Straight up rose Turkish delight, it's lovely but got to be in the mood for rose, layers nicely with Armani Si.

I'm not sure soliflores are my thing; I tend to look for more complexity and body in my fragrances. However, I can still appreciate the artistry that goes into crafting a perfume that smells just like a deep red, full-bodied rose, stems and leaves and all. It's like you've walked into an old Victorian home with all the curtains drawn, plenty of velvet decor and vases of these roses everywhere.

It smells like straight up roses! The smell is so photorealistic that it doesn't smell like a perfume! People who like roses will love it, me - not so much of a rose person, it sits in my collection nicely, maybe I'll start liking it more.

this is the only perfume i had throughout high school and college. i still have a little left in my original bottle. my boyfriend at the time wasn’t a huge fan of the fragrance, he said it kinda smelled like linoleum floors 😭😭 but everyone else always loved it and i did too. it’s so nostalgic. the rose note is beautiful and the best floral fragrance i’ve ever smelled. anyway, my boyfriend is now my husband, and i wore this on our wedding day. when we finally saw each other, his face lit up as soon as he smelled the perfume :) he loves it now lol

This is the Platonic Ideal of a rose frag. It's sticking your face in a plump countryside rose, nothing more nothing less. Rose is probably my number one accord of all time (big fan of Lush Rose Jam, Byredo Young Rose, Lutens La Fille de Berlin, etc) and this is the most photorealistic rose scent I have ever smelled. I sprayed one spray of this on my shirt at the Montreal airport duty free store before a cross continental flight and I could still smell it when I eventually got home and took my shirt off like 7 hours later. So the longevity is quite good for a Jo Malone. I will be ordering a decant of this. 7.5/10

Beautiful, fresh, realistic rose. my skin amplifies sweetness in perfumes so the frag is a bit jammy on me but not to a gourmandy level, not at all. remained detectable even after a shower.

Such a beautiful fragrance from Joe Malone. A few sprays of this & my mood is immediately lifted. I find compared to other JM scents this is long lasting especially when paired with the body lotion. If you are a lover of pure rose scents this is definitely for you, I also own dipytique eu rose edt which I also like wearing but it dosent give me the same mood uplifting effect that this gorgeous scent does 🌹 ❤️

This is pure rose & honey on me & I'm not mad about it lol. The rose reminds of a Penhaligon scented diary I had as a girl so that adds a nice unexpected nostalgia for me. The strong rose with that touch of honey sweetness makes me think of Turkish Delights too. The projection is fairly skin scent intimate but with such a powerful version of rose I see that as a positive because it could easily be overpowering if the projection was any louder. This does really last all day too. Over 12 hours later the dry down is predominantly honeycomb and reminds me of when I've made honey infused with dried rose petals before. Overall I enjoy this quite a bit. It's not overly complex, but I haven't smelled anything else quite like it. I'm not sure how often I'll reach for it, but I'm still glad I have it in my collection.

Yup, this is a rose in a bottle. Not as a note in a pink floral perfume, but as the main character. Not exactly my definition of multifaceted, but as a lover of rose notes in fragrances, this is a good one if you want to smell like you've bathed in rose-water. Pretty and soft, not too cloying or sweet. I feel like this could pair really well over top of a soft white musk based fragrance if you wanted to smell more like you'd used a rose soap.

This is the perfume that got me into collecting perfumes, the most unique fragrance I’ve ever smelled, the most perfect rose perfume, and my most favorite and signature daytime scent! I can’t emphasize how much I love this perfume. I entered the Jo Malone store in a luxury mall in Cebu, sprayed it on my arm, left the store to walk around for around 15 minutes, and I can’t get enough of it! In that moment, I knew I just had to get it. I sprayed it all over me and went to a dried fish market (which has the worst smell ever!) and when I came back home, I still smell sooo good! The rose scent on this one is so strong and so realistic. One spray takes you to a trip to a bright spring day on a rose garden where you lie in a bed of roses. That’s how realistic it is. It is a fresh and zesty sweet scent, a bit citrusy too. This is the perfect spring scent if you ask me! No other fragrance can beat the rosiness out of this. I hope Jo Malone NEVER DISCONTINUES this because I’d like this to be my signature fragrance until the day I die 😔🙏

A sharp and suffocating scent of dark red roses with notes of beeswax. Too flat for me.

Анонім★★★★★

This was my first “real” perfume/cologne, and I still love it so much. It lasts a long time. It’s one of those perfect rose scents that made me fall in love with roses. Great for layering and compliments since it’s straightforward and beautiful!

Анонім★★★★★

Perfect ten out of ten my best friend wears this, makes me sooo happy

Анонім★★★★★

I love a rose scent but in this the lemon just overpowers. It's very sour to my nose.

Анонім★★★★★

This is the most photorealistic red rose I've ever smelled in perfumery. I can't decide if it's too simplistic or if I enjoy this soliflore. Either way, Jo Malone really did capture the scent of a perfect red rose in bloom!

Анонім★★★★★

I always crave this fragrance in the spring, it's just a pretty rose scent. I've gotten many compliments wearing this as well! For me jo malone fragrances are very nostalgic, because my grandma would always wear them!

Анонім★★★★★

this is my second jo malone fragrance ! my first being wild bluebell as opposed to wild bluebell, red roses is a lot… idk.. zingier? the first initial spritz is almost like a lemon candy to me, it’s sharp and sour. after you wait a couple moments, it takes a sharp left turn into something muuuuch more beautiful. i read a review that noted it as the most photorealistic rose scent. and yeah, exactly! this year i’ve been really learning to appreciate rose notes and this fragrance to me is exactly why i’m loving these notes more and more! it’s loud and unique

My absolute favorite, a simple but effective ROSE fragrance. Tdlr: You want a no nonsense fresh rose fragrance? This is it. Gives a fresh cut roses vibe, more fresh on the opening, more prominently rosy on the dry down, and then shifting from fresh to rosy with a subdued sweetness. 3-4 hr longevity on its own, double if you moisturize before applying the fragrance. Decent siliage on the opening and midway through about most of an arm's length, after which it shrinks to stay closer to the skin. Great for layering to give anything a prominent rose note, personal favorites to layer with include wood, vetiver, and other florals. If you want something similar but stronger try Aerin Lauder's Rose de Grasse. It opens on a fresher note, though still rosy, with that lemon and mint. The lemon isn't so in your face, and the mint is very subtle, giving the impression of freshly picked roses that have some green notes from the stems and leaves. After about 15-ish minutes once it begins to dry down, the rose becomes much more noticable without the lemon and mint. The violet leaf adds a bit of depth to help keep that fresh cut rose vibe while letting the rose shine. After about a few more hours you still get that rosiness thats still center stage. Meanwhile, the fresher notes are largely replaced with the subtle, subdued sweetness and slight waxiness of the honeycomb. The waxiness helps subdue the fragrance, giving a bit of warmth as well, making it very comforting. As a Jo Malone fragrance, it is lighter, though the red rose formula does last longer than most of its other cologne peers, lasting about 4 hours on its own on me. However, moisturizing with a lotion or body creme before applying greatly at least doubled the longevity, extended that already surprising longevity to about most of my day. And as a Jo Malone Fragrance, it is also designed to be layered. The fragrance isn't complex, and somewhat linear, but its quality, and that's what makes it a simple but effective rose fragrance. So, i like to layer it with woods to make something a mix of masculine and feminine. Jo Malone's own English Oak and Hazelnut is an example of this I've worn and loved. Outside of Jo Malone, a mix of Red Roses and Tom Ford's Ébene Fumé is my signature. Tom Ford is generally too strong for me, but I loved Ébene Fumé, so I still go the bottle, i just dilute it in an atomizer with the Red Roses, and mixing it really helped with the longevity of the red roses and helped emphasize/amplify the rose already present in Ébene Fumé. Other layerings I can recommend would be: Wild Bluebell, its soft, rosy, floral, cool, slightly fruity and sweet, its a fun but calm mix. Vetiver and Vanilla is another personal favorite/signature, though for sentimental reasons as it reminds me of my great grandma, and others who've smelled it also said it invoked the memory of their grandma, in a good way. Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver would be a fine substitute if you REALLY jusy hate vanilla. Tuberose angelica is also a nice pairing. White florals with rose thrown in there. It was great with the Highlands collection. I've layered with Aerin Lauder's Wisteria, and that was beautiful as well. Pairing it with Estee Lauder's White Linen was also nice for a much more clean and fresh rose. It's a very versatile fragrance to layer with, presuming you love roses I can recommend the lotion for layering and moisturizing to help other fragrances last longer. I would recommend the body creme over the lotion, but i think its been discontinued. Aerin Lauder's Rose de Grasse is a fine substitute for Red Roses if you want something very similar but stronger, and it still has a body creme which im trying out, though Rose de Grass doesn't have that simpler quality i prefer, and I personally do prefer less silliage.

this is a real overwhelming rose water smell , its like heavy rose almost nauseating , something about it is cozy tho you have to be in the mood for this . i remember i wore it at work and everyone smelled it and thought someone was drinking rose water or something .

Анонім★★★★★

This stuff reeks. It smells like roses that have been dipped in expired perfume. Like being slapped in the face with a rotting bouquet. I find it very obnoxious and overbearing; if someone on the train were wearing this, I would move to the next car. Smells like: Drowning in rosewater.

Анонім★★★★★

Nice and stinky. A strong, slightly offensive rose. It's an old fashioned powdery rose but also realistic, like sticking your nose in a wet red rose bush. I like the beeswax. I think I'm a bit young for this right now but I can see myself in this in middle age, offending all my colleague and family.

Анонім★★★★★

A realistic rose fragrance. I've had mine for a few years and it gets better with time so now I'm using it only on special occasion. I don't get the citrus but the dry down is a bit weird on me, in a wet spoiled rose way but I like it anyway.

Анонім★★★★★

most photorealistic rose i have smelled yet.

Анонім★★★★★

I am not really a rose lover. I like a very muted rose that adds some depth and floralcy to a perfume (Ala the rose in Narciso white cube or La Peau Nu Celine) but this is ROSE. For me a very realistic and deep red rose so aptly named. I layered it with Awake from Akro and the coffee/ rose combo is lovely. If you are a die hard rose fan …you should definitely get your nose on this. The other notes are there if you really search, they serve to prop up and round out the rose …but let things go blurry and photorealistic rose delivered.(My beloved Grandfather grew gorgeous roses and this truly takes me back to childhood and sniffing those bushes.)

This perfume is rose and honey. At first, the rose is brighter, fresher, a little dewier, yet still sweet. But after several hours, it settles into a very honeyed scent--sweet, warm, amber, a slight hint of wax. It's very nice, a smooth honey rose. I do like this fragrance quite a lot. It captures the essence of a true red rose bouquet.
