I bought a sample of Kenzo Jungle L'Éléphant because I like cardamom and was curious. It's not a bad fragrance, but it's not for me. I think the cumin or caraway pushes it in a direction that reminds me more of ras el hanout than the warm, cozy cardamom I was hoping for. I can't really picture myself wearing it, but every now and then I'll spray it on our wool dryer balls because it makes for a pleasant, unisex, non-intrusive scent on freshly dried clothes.

Hmm I liked it when I tried a vial years ago but when i bought a bottle somehow it lacks oomph. I wish it could be thicker and more flavourful. If you like spicy scents, I would recommend Dior Dolce Vita over this.

I bought this fragrance because my mom wore it in the late 90's and she had AMAZING taste in perfume. She passed away in February so I decided to buy a bottle in rememberance of her. Oh god, it did not disappoint. Like others have said, it is truly a masterpiece. Better than niche. The first splash is clove heavy, be aware, but after it dries down, you get all sorts of spices with a sweetness that is just incredibly cozy. It's a perfume for those who like their fragrance and themselves to be noticed, as it has amazing projection.

I apologize, but comparing Jungle E. to 'Christmas, tea and cinnamon cookies' is a textbook example of a sterile, closed-minded, and overly 'European' perspective on fragrances. It is a desperate attempt to tame something wild, raw, and exotic, shoving it into a kitchen drawer in some cold European city. This is either a complete misunderstanding of Kenzo’s artistic vision, or simply parosmia (in which case, I would understand). Let’s be clear: the Jungle E. is definitely not a kitchen! With all due responsibility, I believe there is absolutely nothing domestic, tame, or festive about it. This is the scent of damp earth, sun-drenched skin, sweat, succulent tropical fruit rotting under the blazing sun, and wild spices burning in the air... And finally, as a man who wears this masterpiece exclusively during extreme, sultry summer afternoons -with just two distant sprays, one on my hairy chest and the second on the back of the neck -I am instantly transported into the jungle of my most primal instincts and freedom. That is the exact equatorial freedom that inspired Maestro Kenzo. Not the North. Thank you for your understanding!

I have no idea when/where I could even wear this fragrance. It's intense and I think everything I do in life is pretty safe and vanilla. Someone tell me where to wear this! I am keeping it for the gorgeous bottle and the fact that it is really a delicious scent. Someday, the occasion will arise for me to wear Jungle Elephant, I just know it. Edited to add: I think this would be perfect for the German Christmas markets, so I will circle back in December.

Jungle is a masterpiece. Put it in one of those overpriced 400€ LVMH bottles and people would scream "GENIUS !" Ah, the wonders of good ol' marketing.

I love me some warm spicy scents. Cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, bring it! But there is something off about this and it might be its touch of sweetness. It’s nauseating in a way that many, many other warm spicy perfumes avoid entirely. I do wonder if it’s simply a cost/quality issue as this is a rather inexpensive product. I really do look forward to the day I am proven wrong, but so far it seems you get what you pay for with perfume. My 1/4 mL decant of Tonka Imperiale being the fragrance on my dreams.

First of all, you must not be a shy person to wear this. It’s wonderful and loud and glorious with only a few little spritzes and definitely not made for wearing in an elevator or in the work environment. I am an Ancient Woman who first discovered cologne at the Dime Store when I was 12 years old, “Evening In Paris” for about 25 cents! I have gone through the Avon collection back in the 50’s 60’s then finally when I became 70, I bought my very first Chanel. It was No.19…very safe and green and ooh so lovely. Oh, I was a huge Estée Lauder fan in the 1980’s and still love her old frags! Now I am 85 and I so enjoy my louder and bombastic smells so much. It’s like being “hard of hearing”, you think?!?

My favorite fragrance ever. I’ve loved it since I was a little girl. It used to be my mom’s signature scent. When she was pregnant with me, she would douse herself in it. After I was born, she felt it was too strong for her. I guess she wore it so much that she didn’t want it anymore. Somehow, she passed her love for this fragrance on to me. It’s the strongest fragrance I’ve ever smelled, a true beast. It lasts for days, even with just one spritz. I can still smell it on my skin after a shower. It's pretty much a love or hate fragrance.

Never underestimate the power of scent. Bear with me here, I promise the following entry circles back to a review. —On a late afternoon/early evening in November 1997, I was driving home on a Tuesday from college for Thanksgiving break. For anyone here who may not be savvy to this American holiday, it’s typical for schools and most businesses to close for four days beginning on the last Thursday of November (Thanksgiving) and returning to work and school the following Monday. My folks live off of a two way state highway in rural Colorado. When I came to a stop and signaled left to turn into my parents’ driveway, I heard a loud horn and less than a second later, a semi truck crashed into me from behind going about 55 miles an hour. The impact turned my car around almost 360 degrees, and four of the semi truck’s rear tires actually went up and over the ceiling of my car, effectively “sandwiching” me inside. I had to be literally cut out of my car with a large heavy mechanical device us Americans call “the jaws of life.” Long story short, it turns out that seatbelts really can save lives. I was wearing mine, so I lived. But my right (dominant) hand and forearm had smashed completely through the car’s dashboard on impact, dislocating my right shoulder, breaking four fingers, severing three ligaments and causing multiple fractures in my lower arm from the wrist to elbow. Due to the severity of whiplash, my neck needed a brace for four months. After 15 total months involving surgeries and physical/occupational therapy, I finally healed and —believe it or not— I had full use of my right arm and hand. Still do. I can still do pushups, planks and lift weights. It astonishes me what I’m still able to do, though I admit these days, especially in cold weather, it all aches quite fiercely sometimes. But although it will certainly never look like the hand and wrist of a hand model, I have full use of everything, so absolutely no complaints here! It’ll never be a pretty hand again, but bodily scars can have their own strange beauty, I think. Now I’m not a church going woman, kind reader, not by a mile…but I do believe in a creator, a force, if you will, that exists. Many times when I’m using my right hand (like now), I pause, point my right index finger to the sky, and say “Thank You.” When I look at the picture my parents took of the mangled mess that was my car, it’s humbling. It still amazes me that I actually walked away from that heap of mangled metal… or well, no…I didn’t WALK away from it, I was driven away at high speed to the jangly tune of sirens, haha. But ykwim. Kenzo Elephant was gifted to me on a frosty Colorado Christmas morning 5 weeks after that accident. Never underestimate the healing power of scent. I was tired. I hurt everywhere. I felt ugly, defeated and depressed. But when I smelled that first spritz, a cornucopia of fruit and warm christmasy spices, it just lifted me up. It was the perfect antidote. Now, when I wear it, I feel comforted, I feel thankful, and I feel hope. It reminds me of just how much crap a person can overcome, and it was this fragrance’s ability to lift me up from a dark place that started my passion for perfume that continues to this day. I keep this in a tight rotation in the holiday season with Serge Lutens Arabie and Fille en Aiguilles. While Kenzo Elephant certainly smells like late autumn and winter festivities in a bottle, I actually like to wear it occasionally in summer too. Oddly enough, I have found that Kenzo Elephant blossoms best in the heat. Or maybe it’s not so odd…after all, many spicy fragrances like this hail from hot desert lands. Try wearing it outside of colder temperatures. Applied to the skin with restraint, it actually radiates beautifully in summer heat.

I wanted to love this so badly… I love cardamom and vanilla and amber and the notes spoke to my heart… and the reviews, amazing… and so I blind bought it… on a surface level, I got it at first… then I took a deep breath and it smelled like an elephant enclosure and that scent is burned into my nose and memory. I immediately listed this on my Mercari at a significant loss.

I will blind buy this perfume any day. The juice is such a concoctions of goodies. If you are a freshee, this is not for you. The dry down is thrilling and spicy. This perfume has no character flaw . When it arrives, you pay attention or leave the room

This is such an incredible fragrance but it really takes a moment to get there. Particularly because it is polarising. Very loud, sweet, and exotic-adjacent. Unlike anything else tho. It has something that feels unique to the scent. I have not smelled a similar fragrance. The modern version is so complex and strong - I can't imagine what the vintage one was like.

Анонім★★★★★

Unfortunately, this was an unsuccessful blind buy for me as well. The clove note is very strong to me and the combination of overpowering spices reminds me of Christmas ham and what I imagine hot glogg would smell like. I was looking for something spicy and sexy and this just smells like a spice rack.

Анонім★★★★★

98% of Amouage Journey - cinnamon and sweetness . Especially on the dry down .

Анонім★★★★★

An unsuccessful blind buy. It might be the cumin but something really bothers me. I will revisit in a few months. It's a pity because the dry down (some hours after application) is quite interesting.

Kenzo Jungle Elephant is a magnificent fragrance - intensely spicy, bold, and unmistakably unique. It has that rich, heady character that makes it instantly recognizable, the kind of scent that fills the air with a strong personality and leaves a lasting impression. It is opulent, warm, slightly wild, and beautifully blended. I enjoy it very much so far, and what surprises me the most is how close it feels to Ivresse by Yves Saint Laurent. I will continue to wear and test it over the next weeks, but for now I find it absolutely beautiful - another remarkable creation by Dominique Ropion.

Анонім★★★★★

I'd take vintage Jungle over modern niche any day. Even 30 years later, it's still better than 90% of the current "niche" market.

Absolutely love this fragrance. I wore Opium for years until the reformulation and have not found a spicy perfume I love as much, til now.

I bought it yesterday, just couldn't help myself and really can't describe how happy I am. It's a wonderful fragrance, unique, long lasting and recognisable, probably one of the best ever made. On my skin, interestingly, Elephant smells like spicy gardenia, which is one of the prominent notes here to my nose. This one boosts my mood, makes me happy, reminds me of some old, different times, gives me energy, what more could I ever need from a fragrance? Love it.

I dunno, if you’re going for an Oriental Spicy and you’re willing to sacrifice complexity at the risk of smelling like Big Red Gum and Christmas candles, this is your bargain perfume. It’s really not bad…. But considering what’s out there, it’s really not good. The one thing I can say about it is that it’s not going to offend the middle of the road. I do love cloves. A lot.

Upon first spray, my first thought was 90's scented candle from the country store at the mall. Then my husband started raving about how good I smelled, so I didn't immediately scrub it off. I'm glad I didn't. Once it settles on the skin, the spices give way to a really nice deep tropic amber. It stays spicy and warm all through the mid and base, I definitely pick up the mango on my skin, but the amber and spices tamp down some of the sweetness. Very complex and interesting!

Анонім★★★★★

I love love love this one! It's an oriental spicy vanilla bomb!!! The cloves and cinnamon reminds me of the syrupy desserts we eat on Christmas in my country, then the cardamom and cumin reminds me of chai latte, and the vanilla - amber base is always there. This is a very strong perfume, with great sillage and longevity and you only need a few sprays. It's sweet, spicy, warm and unique, I don't think I have ever smelt anything like it! Ropion never disappoints, I really love his creations.

The great Indian elephant protects you from the cold every winter 🐘❄️ Kenzo's supreme work of art. When I wear it, I think about how wonderful it was almost 30 years ago when a perfume was launched; it was big news, and perfumeries were buzzing about it—and rightly so, it's as if it brings together all the Buddhist and Hindu altarpieces, their temples, their dark jungles, their secrets—all of this inside a bottle 🙏. The spicy sweetness of the Indian landscapes, its mystical sunsets... Use a little, just one spray, and close your eyes to contemplate everything this work of art in perfume has to offer. Remember, a little goes a long way. Look for the dark lilac box with its name in a yellow box on secondhand stores (this is the one with the happy elephant potion with its trunk raised 😉).

Well this is certainly unique. It's a warm and fresh spice bomb to me. Very strong to begin with and then it settles. I don't think I would wear it out of the house but that's because it has strong associations for me with a bath product called Badedas that reminds me of my dad. It's comforting for me, I'll wear it on evenings when I need a perfume hug.

It surprises me that this is considered a women’s fragrance. I think this is one of the most unisex fragrances I own. On clothing, I can smell it for well over a week and it’s a very classic, cozy, masculine amber and clove after a day or so. Something about it reminds me a little of Nivea lotion, my grandpa’s anftershave, root beer popsicles, the ‘90s Neutrogena shampoo in the flat rectangular bottle, and a little bit of an armpit at first with that cumin note. The longer it sits, the more sweet and tropical it feels. After about an hour the combination of the spice with the heliotrope starts to remind me of tuberose in hot, humid air- a lot like Do Son from Diptyque. It doesn’t feel wintery at all to me. I can’t wait to wear this in hot weather. I don’t think it’s a winter fragrance at all. The amber in this is definitely a dated, ‘90s amber, but the fragrance itself doesn’t feel. I agree with the people I’ve seen saying this could easily be released by a house like By Kilian or Frederic Malle today. I don’t know that I love it, but it’s interesting and the bottle is a beautiful display piece. I’m a light sprayer, and this does project, but I don’t think it smells overly strong or sharp up-close, which a lot of fragrances with silage this good are guilty of. My main complaint is that it’s a little cloying, and I honestly wish it were drier and spicier.

Анонім★★★★★

On my skin this goes intensely, gooey sugary-sweet, like a snickerdoodle plus spices. If you’re like me and sweetness is always amplified on your skin, I wouldn’t recommend Jungle, unless you LOVE sugary smells.

Анонім★★★★★

I blind bought this and was not disappointed. It reminds me very much of Nohiba. So much so, that it struck me right away. However, I love this a bit more. There is no musk which I appreciate. It is a chai tea latte in the truest sense, with a few cinnamon candies thrown in. Indian spices with floral touches and a slight fruity sweetness from the mandarin orange. The weather is cold, and this makes me feel warm and cozy. Really enjoying wearing it. I rated it a like for now until I get to know it - it may become a love soon. I just received it today. It is not retro or vintage smelling. As a matter of fact, it just smells spicy, warm, fresh and playful at the same time. I love this on its own, but I may experiment and layer it with fragrances I own that need a zip because I don't like to wear them alone, like Althair.

Анонім★★★★★

I will never understand why this was discontinued. The blend of rich spices and exotic fruits is transportive—it feels like a sensory journey through South Asia. It captures that specific warmth and vibrancy so perfectly; it’s an absolute tragedy that it’s gone.
