Had a bottle many moons ago, depleted it to the very last atom. Happened across a bottle on Rescented a couple weeks ago for a very reasonable price, and purchased it. The memories this flooded my brain with were worth it all by themselves. Plenty of long-winded (and far more creative and eloquently constructed than I could ever accomplish) reviews below this one, so I'll leave it by saying that in my own personal fragrance journey, Riverside Drive is the closest I've encountered. This is one that never should have been discontinued....

Hypnôse Homme comes across as a dull and uninspired fragrance. From the very first spritz, something felt off. It’s overwhelmingly synthetic and lacks distinct character. Given the talent behind it and the vast technical and financial resources at Lancôme’s disposal, the potential was undoubtedly higher. Even the impressive ad campaign featuring Clive Owen sets expectations higher. But, it is what it is. While it’s not a total failure, it certainly falls short of being memorable. That said, it does have a decidedly masculine edge. Still, in keeping with the fragrance’s name, I almost wish I could be hypnotized into forgetting I ever tested Hypnôse Homme. My rating: Dissuaded. (2/7)

What a shocking scent for a cheapie… This very well may be bottle worthy and worth seeking out… because there’s a mass appeal here that very few fragrances capture. I think this will make you rather pleased if it’s a blind-buy and you’re not a snob about fragrances… Side notes: I figured it out… it’s Calvin Klein’s Euphoria Men.

An unique absolutely delicious masterpiece unfortunately descontinued. A perfect 10/10.

Анонім★★★★★

Nice but nothing crazy, it’s a pleasant amber fougere. I don’t think it deserves the prices it’s being sold at since it’s been discontinued.

Such a shame Lancome no longer makes male fragrances

Lavender is a very prominent note in this perfume, creating a very fresh scent. Bergamot, mandarin, and lemon notes accompany the lavender, enhancing its freshness. I can also detect the aquatic note in this perfume. Despite being a fresh perfume, it has high sillage and lasts very long. Even in the summer heat, this long-lasting scent doesn't overwhelm or overwhelm. I applied just two sprays at 7:30 AM, and I could still smell it until 5:00 PM. This truly performs wonderfully and can be worn in any season. Finally, it's an ideal all-season perfume with its uncomplicated yet clean, fresh, and long-lasting scent that everyone will love.

man maurice rouchel really know how to do it. 10/10 frag.

I wore this to school today, initially it was one of my dads old fragrances that ı borrowed. It always was a scent that is more mature to me but as ı started growing ı found that it suit me. The earthy notes combined with the amber gives it a sweet spicy feel and the lavender note just takes it into a new level that definitely evokes some memories for me. This fragrance could definitely be worn for some special occasions however ı wouldn't mind wearing it on a day to day basis for the winter, spring, and fall days. The only downside ı get to this is that its mostly a skin scent not projecting well enough on me. I also got plenty of compliments on this fragrance, like ı said even though ı am young ı found that this fragrance suit me so ı think the maturity of fragrances is not fully about age but about how mature of a person YOU are.

I got this when it first came out. Instantly fell in love with it. I got so many compliments on it back in the day. This is the only cologne I’ve ever repurchased multiple times in my life. There’s something about it that just stands out & makes it smell so unique from any other fragrance I’ve ever owned. This will go down as one of my all time favorites. Top 10 easy for me in this lifetime.

I wish they'd bring this fragrance back. If not for the smell, at least for the bottle. One of my favorite fragrance bottle designs, ever. The scent itself is wonderful too, it's a lavender heavy minty-amber freshie with a slight citrus opening. I remember stealing a few sprays here and there from when my dad owned this fragrance... It's a shame it's not around anymore to purchase.

Анонім★★★★★

Starts fresh and woody, but then it develops into a spicy mid with an almond note that reminds Guerlains L'homme ideale series. The almond note can be cloying, even if small quantities applied and in winter/spring. Unusable in summer, it overwhelms. It projects a warm aura with a tea-like note with iris, though those notes are not declared, it's the feeling I get on my skin, with a bit of freshness provided by the mint. It's very elegant, don't think it's office safe, but it's a mysterious frag, could be worn with either a leather jacket or a suit. It's not easy to wear, its presence is quite felt for a long time in the nose of the wearer.

I have a full 75ml bottle, located in Denmark if anyone is interested.

Can’t believe it discontinued 😖 One of a kind.

I had this for a while and only have worn it a few times so I decided to pull it out and revisit it, who knows how the fragrance has changed if at all from when initially purchased. While I have no idea what the notes are supposed to be what I got was, well black pepper and green bell pepper with a good dosing of musk and maybe a hint of citrus at the tippy top. Thus it goes without saying, that the cardamom and lavender are driving this, while musk plays the supporting role. The specific citrus of bergamot and mandarin are only noticeable after suggestion. It is a somewhat dark-leaning fragrance, hinting at evening outings of a more personal and romantic nature. I wouldn't wear this to say, game night. Overall it is ok, and while for the mainstream fragrance that it was, it reminds me why I've gone to the niche side because while it does have some character, it still has that generic musky scent that I get from most mainstream scents.

Opens Lavender, i know it says its middle notes, Yes it is but its also base and topp....its Maurice Roucel were talking about here.. (90s Lavender icon lol) and its herbal mint the fresh kind you pick and crush between your fingers kind off smell very green aura That and a cesty mandarin makes out the most part off the scent, fresh cardamom keeps it spicy and pricks att your nostrils. For me the scents is 100% 90s Lavender and hints towards old parfumes long past, smooth and simplistic but so very well balanced by the Lavender king To bad its discontinued, iff you get the chanse buy it Iff you like beach hut man you will like this one too Very similar openings

I was looking for "best cardamom fragrances" cause I adore its scent and this came up many times, so I added to the "to try', although having seen it was discontinued. then I found a 50 ml on an outlet perfumes page for a price that can be considered as a "steal". First of all: The bottle is so exquisite, now I understand why people rate it too. Before reviewing the scent, I must say that expectations are indeed the real cause of disappointment.(Or in other words, Cl"comparison is the thief of joy".)This is one of the drawbacks of being an enthusiast. One day we smell a fragrance and fall in love(maybe for the first time, unforgettable-mine was "Intoxicated" by Kilian in this case) and after that we try to find that feeling (not the scent actually), searching for those with the same or similar notes, and often, hopes are not met and we feel upset, yet we should not. So, I sprayed 2-3 sprays to my both moisturized arms and took a sniff. It was not a mind-blowing experience, hence it is stunning. The sought radiant cardamom is there and presents itself. Even it's not unpleasant at all, the only thing that bothers me is the lavender I wish it hadn't been there so that the scent would carry itself mainly on the cardamom and mint. Most of the other reviews are true, the scent is quite linear, doesn't play games. It's bold, it's serious, not youthful/juvenile, does its job very well. I don't know about projection, but longevity is not much, after 4 hours I can barely smell it. It's not a big deal, it's okay. And last thing about the discontinuity, I checked the batch code and it showed the production date was 2020. so I presume even if it was, it must have been later than that time. I am going to keep it in the fridge to mature and test again later in a different season and time.

I have this back in 2007 back when I was still kinda new to frags. This is a great frag from what I remember. More for the Winter, Evening and Fall.

Анонім★★★★★

One of the sweetest scents I've had since Happy for Men, with a fabulous sillage. I'm not too hypnotized about the bottle, though: it doesn't match the scent's sophistication.

Анонім★★★★★

Having worn this a couple of times now, my impressions are as follows: - Lavender, cedarwood (think iso e super) and violet leaf are the most apparent. - any spices are quite muted - the lavender is not photorealistic, people who say it is need to visit a garden. It is a clean, cozy, powdery lavender. - the overall effect is not grand, showy or impressive, but it is somewhat endearing, humble and cozy to wear. - Think of spending time at an amusement park with your loved one in the late hours. There are lights and sounds, but most of the visitors have gone home, and the night is chilly, dark and intimate, lending a special ambience.

Very smooth, airy balance of notes. I’d say patchouli is the most noticeable because it’s a very particular smell.. here it is subtly sweet, never cloying mixed w/ bergamot- smoothed by lavender. Smells exactly like the sweetness in Creed Original Santal 😳. This does it better though!! I like this, but because of the bergamot/ patchouli combo it comes off as having a refined but generic scent profile. Like something you’ve smelled in other fragrances. Not classy, more on the youthful side. I get ZERO mint, NADA! The cardamom is nicely blended w/ no rough edges (no spice). Neither musky nor powdery. Smells ‘watery’ as it dries. People here must be referring to the Original sweet club banger le male. in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM- does this smell like a Fougère/ barbershop fragrance!! It’s just sweet.

2010-12 Batch - The projection and longetivity are truly impressive It's not similar to LNDL but it's also perfect for a great date and upcoming special occasion. Feels ideally balanced, unique and classy. It's not for everyone's nose for sure but if you have a good batch it's an unforgettable, signature, classy and gentlemen scent. It works well for any evening/night all year round because of good amount of mint in it which makes it also refreshing. The moment the wind blows - the magic happens guys. Rolls Royce of seductive scents 25ml left and now it's a liquid gold for me. Hidden gem and masterpiece by Maurice Roucel. Thank you

I am not sure about reformulation before discontinued. I used to wear it in a long time, I have to say that the projection is not very loud, but it last day long, after 8-9hours from work, I can feel it softly as skin scent. One of great scents from Lancome

Great fragrance if it lasted for an extra few minutes more. lol. extremely weak,

Thus, what makes it so hypnotic? At the opening, you immediately feel lavender’s fresh, aromatic, and herbaceous nuances, a massive dose, but it worked well. It is as if a bundle of lavender spikes had dived from the springboard into a tub full of well-dosed citrus juice, in which mandarin orange and bergamot are mixed, but I also smell a little orange and lemon. The presence of cardamom is noteworthy, a warm spice with its somewhat balsamic colouring that goes well with the citrus part, making it slightly acidic. For an instant, it seemed to me that I, too, had the same vibrations of Touch for Men EAU DE TOILETTE and Le Mâle EAU DE TOILETTE. There is something that smells the same without making one a copy of the other. Instead, the mint note is subdued, perhaps overshadowed by the lavender overdose. The more the fragrance grows, the more the citrus notes are lost. Instead, wet violet leaves’ metallic and dewy edges stand out with a slightly sweaty aftertaste, a very virile, masculine, hypnotic sweat. It’s not an ugly, nasty, disgusting, stinky sweat while remaining very close to the smell of the body, of clean and cleansed skin, which is attractive to many people. The cardamom continues its path, and having reached the centre, it joins the lavender, offering tea-like accents. The spicy aspect is very fragrant than piquant or pungent. Something even creates a hint of fresh, moist, and unburned tobacco. At this point, Hypnose differs from the two perfumes mentioned above. The dry-down surprises me with oriental, musky and amber accords. The fresh part was lost; now, the scent is warm and sensual, keeping that sense of sweat clean. A touch of patchouli, not overly damp rich, and moist, gently soil the more animal aspects of musk and the powdery ones of amber and coumarins. All in all, the perfume’s finish is moderately sweet, despite many sweetish notes. It also showed some creamy edges, which makes me think of hidden sandalwood. A splendid interpretation of the fougère family, to my nose significantly leaning towards the masculine universe with a potent combination of cardamom and lavender. Too bad it didn’t achieve the success it deserved and that it was discontinued; perhaps too much underestimated. It is one of those scents you either hate or love. The accords place it among the autumn fragrances, even if I suppose new nuances can be perceived if worn in spring or other warmer or colder seasons. It is a perfume with limited performance, the projection is intimate, and the duration is around half a day. Almost a classic; it never leaves its comfort zone. It is ideal for formal meetings, work, an outing with friends, or a dinner. Even though it’s rated for the night, I also find it suitable for the daytime. Such a lovely and hypnotic scent, I'd suggest to men of all ages, a perfect staple in my collection for when I want to give off an alluring vibe. I'm basing my impressions on a bottle I have owned since June 2019.

Gone those days when the bottles used to be artistic!

This is in no way like La Nuit de l'Homme or Le Male at all. It's strong and has good longevity but I really dislike it so I've only worn it once and don't plan to wear it agian.

Анонім★★★★★

Imagine spaffing the cost of La Nuit de l'Homme and then realising that Lancome created a fragrance that was in a way similar but you could smell, and lasted a nominal 9-5 shift. Well similar in the sense that they have that smooth ambery spice , lavender and cardamom. But this just reminds me of a very sophisticated airport departure lounge whereas the YSL just did not have any lasting impression ( maybe because it often left after introducing itself like a shy painfully socially awkward party guest). I really don't understand why Lancome only have tis one fragrance for men, they really could a couple more as this has a classic impression that's masculine without veering toward 'macho'. This fragrance makes me think of Montgomery Cliff, sat in a Virgin Atlantic departure lounge, in a grey seersucker suit, heavy amber-hued alcoholic drink, uninformative magazine and plenty of time to laboriously but luxuriously kill. I like this, though wouldn't buy again but would recommend others buy this 7.7/10

Masculine warm spicy cardamom + lavender. Puts me in the same mood as La Nuit, although Hypnose pushes out way more than LNDL projection wise. It's not the same subdued skin scent vibe that LNDL has going on, but the scent profiles themselves are similar. I really like it, it's very classy. I'm wearing it a lot at home just to enjoy it alone. I don't think I'll be wearing it much outside however, as it just about teeters along the line of being dated and a tiny bit old school. I personally don't mind the old school profile as it smells fantastic, but as someone who just turned 30 that's not the type of scent and idea I'd like to project of myself to strangers ... maybe in 10 years or so.

Just trying to figure out which ingredients I can not bear. This perfume made me choke. Some people are saying that it resembles JPG male. I have no JPG in my collection for the same reason. Creamy, heavy petrol scent. Is it the combination of vanilla or amber and lavender? Many of my favourite perfumes have lavender and there is no problem.
